Known as one of the greatest animated series of our time, Avatar: The Last Airbender had an incredible run during its time on air. Fueled by incredibly written characters, an engaging plot, and astounding animation sequences. Fans quickly and intensely fell in love with Avatar Aang (Zach Tyler Eisen) and his crew as they journeyed to stop Firelord Ozai (Mark Hamill).
The show ran for a total of three seasons, with almost every episode garnering an amazing critical response. The show and the franchise it spawned still have a plethora of fans to this day who are just as in love with it as they’ve always been. It’s known as one of the greatest television series for many very good reasons, and one of them is the great ratings of these astounding episodes.
A major motivation for the one and only Sokka’s (Jack Se Sena) character arc is the absence of his father, who had gone off to war without him—along with all the other men of his village—before the series begins. In “The Guru,” his father comes back into the picture, which does wonders for his character arc. Meanwhile, Aang meets Guru Pathik (Brian George) to receiveguidance at the Eastern Air Temple.
It’s in this episode in which Aang learns that he must abandon all Earthly possessions and wants to enhance his spiritual self. But when he sees a vision of his friends getting captured, he abandons his training. It is very much in the vein of Star Wars: Episode V — The Empire Strikes Back, and the entire episode works incredibly well on a thematic and narrative level.
Every good character arc comes with what is known as a character’s “ghost”—something that haunts them and holds them back from what they seek to or need to achieve in their arc. The best example of how to do this well is none other than “The Storm,” as the story depicts the truth behind both Aang’s and Prince Zuko’s (Dante Basco) stories.
It’s because of this that this entry in the first season is one of the most emotionally compelling episodes in the first season. This is where audiences finally get to see the full flashbacks to discover the events that haunt Aang and Zuko the most. They see what led up to Aang abandoning his people, and what happened to Zuko to “earn him” that scar on his face. It’s phenomenally well-written by the likes of Aaron Ehasz, John O’Bryan, and James Eagan, with story editing from Michael Dante DiMartino.
If there’s an absolutely ruthless antagonist (outside of the Fire Lord) in Avatar: The Last Airbender, it’s none other than Zuko’s little sister, Azula (Grey DeLisle). One of the episodes that best emphasizes this is the iconic “The Chase.” When Aang realizes Azula and her gals are chasing them, they have to improvise to survive.
By this point in the series, Azula has yet to really make her mark, but it’s here that she really defines herself as a force to truly be reckoned with. The group thought Zuko was bad? Azula is worse, and she proves it here. Aside from the external conflict she provides, the gang is having internal conflict, as well, adding to the complexity of the episode.
It’s always entertaining when the heroes think they have the upper hand against the enemy, only to be proven wrong and shown that they are, in fact, one step behind their foes. This exactly happens in “The Day of the Black Sun,” and that provides a sense of dread and loss for the future of the season.
A hard choice needs to be made at the end of this episode, forcing Katara (Mae Whitman) and Sokka to leave their father behind again in order to not be captured by the Fire Nation themselves. It’s a huge low point for the series and shows how much it’s going to take to actually take down the enemy at the end of the season.
Avatar: The Last Airbender has always been known to be a more character-focused/character-driven show, and Katara herself gets an incredible episode all to herself (and Zuko) in “The Puppetmaster.” The concept of “bloodbending” in this universe is so interesting and, honestly, brutal—discovered in this entry in Season 3.
Katara’s arc really finds a full-circle moment here. Throughout the entire series, she’s been compassionate and good, but has had a bit of a temper and rage inside of her that sometimes comes out. Here, she gets to face those things in full force, finally coming face-to-face with her own inner demons—Zuko guiding her on her journey.
A minor character in Avatar: The Last Airbender who has some amazing character development is none other than Jet (Crawford Wilson), who began the series as a one-note antagonistic figure in Season 1 and returns in Season 2 with a lot more character depth, having learned his lesson. However, he’s proof that learning from a character arc doesn’t have to fully complete a character and can lead to yet another one.
The story within “Lake Laogai” is not only entertaining but compelling, given the fact that Jet’s return brings about a great arc for people to watch. As per usual, Zuko finds a way to really shine in this episode, as well, as his inner demons continue to conflict.
After Aang is captured by the Fire Nation and put in some serious trouble, it’s up to the incredibly unlikely choice: Zuko to save him — actually, the Blue Spirit (Zuko in disguise). This is truly one of the most well-plotted episodes in the entire fantasy show. The pacing is immaculate, and the action is beyond thrilling.
“The Blue Spirit” is a great introduction to Zuko’s character arc to come in the rest of the series. Sure, he’s doing his actions as the Blue Spirit for his own personal gain, but saving Aang is part of what really sparks something in him. Something that acts as a starting point for his redemption.
The one and only Toph (Michaela Jill Murphy) is, without a doubt, one of the most popular characters in the entire series. Despite being added in Season 2 and not being part of the main cast from the beginning, she is written so well that she is instantly lovable, making this introductory episode a great start to her tenure in Avatar: The Last Airbender.
Aang needs an Earthbending teacher, and when they arrive in a new location, they discover Toph, battling in an arena and showing off her incredibly badass skills. She’s quite easily one of the strongest characters in the show, making this first episode one for the books, as Toph’s origin story is not only filled with great action, but a compelling story, as well.
Everyone loves a good prison break, and when it comes to this series, “The Boiling Rock, Part 2” is the place to look. Aside from being a “Part 2,” this entry in the series feels like an event in and of itself, especially when the likes of Azula (Grey DeLisle), Mai (Cricket Leigh), and Ty Lee (Olivia Hack) make their way to the prison. There’s so much action, stakes, and great character moments that make the 15th episode of the final season so good. As per usual for Avatar: The Last Airbender, the animation is excellently animated by Nickelodeon Animation Studio, which allows the great fight sequences to truly shine during this prison break.
Avatar: The Last Airbender has always been a gorgeous-looking show, but when it comes to the most beautiful episodes in the series, this one takes the cake. The sequence towards the end of the episode, in which Zuko and Aang come together for the “Masters” dragon dance, which utilizes colors in an astonishing display that is unforgettable.
While it doesn’t move the plot forward very far, the worldbuilding executed here helps expand the universe greatly, and really fleshes things out before getting to the latter half of the season, where the endgame story would begin. Zuko and Aang’s arcs both get great moments in this one, too.

Ruby Rose’s latest attempt to tackle a simple backyard chore ended in a painful trip to the emergency room.
The actress shocked fans after sharing footage of the frightening moment she slipped into her swimming pool, revealing the accident left her with multiple broken ribs.
While the ordeal has already derailed her summer plans, it also revived memories of the serious health battles and traumatic injuries that have shaped much of her recent life.

Ruby Rose revealed she was rushed to the hospital after a backyard accident left her with two broken ribs.
The “Batwoman” star took to her Instagram Stories with a video showing herself carefully edging along the narrow ledge surrounding her swimming pool while holding a garden hose.
Rose had been trying to water a section of her garden overlooking the pool when everything suddenly went wrong. She lost her footing and plunged into the water, striking her ribs against the pool’s edge during the fall.
The video captured the immediate aftermath, with the 40-year-old visibly distressed as she struggled in the pool and instinctively clutched her side in pain.
Despite the severity of the accident, Rose managed to inject a bit of humor into the situation. “RIP to my ribs, and the rest of my summer. They are broken, multiple. Straight to hospital, did not pass go or collect $200,” she wrote alongside the clip, adding a laughing-crying emoji.
Rose later shared the same video on Threads, where she reflected on how quickly an ordinary day spiraled into a medical emergency.
“One second I’m here talking to you. The next I’m in the hospital with two broken ribs. What a bloody Monday,” she wrote.
Ruby Rose knows all too well how dangerous physical injuries can become. Back in 2019, she was hospitalized after performing a stunt while filming her starring role in “Batwoman.” At first, doctors believed she had either fractured or broken a rib.
“We thought that I had broken a rib or just fractured a rib and that it was, like, 6 to 12 weeks of healing,” she recalled during an appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.”
Instead, the pain continued long after that expected recovery period. “So, then I had 6 to 12 weeks of chronic pain and just sort of kept assuming that was what it was,” Rose explained.
Doctors later discovered the true cause was far more serious: two herniated discs in her spine. “It was really, really terrifying,” the Hollywood star said, revealing that she could have been left paraplegic had the condition not been treated immediately.

Years after the spinal injury, Rose admitted she still struggled to discuss the ordeal because of the emotional scars it left behind.
Speaking to TV Week in March 2026, she explained that simply talking about the accident would trigger an overwhelming response.
“The memories around it were so bad that I had to put myself into a trauma facility for three months in 2021, so I could learn how to talk about what happened without fainting,” Rose shared.
The “John Wick: Chapter 2” actress described the experience as life-changing, saying, “It was a horrendous injury, and I was so very alone throughout the whole experience.”
She explained that her brain would shut down and turn off whenever she attempted to revisit those painful memories publicly.

Ruby Rose revisited another frightening chapter earlier this year while appearing in SBS documentary series “The Hospital: In the Deep End.”
During the program, she revealed she had previously been hospitalized following a devastating car crash that left her unconscious after being thrown through a windshield.
“I was [in hospital] for many, many weeks. I couldn’t walk or anything and I had to use a bedpan,” she recalled per the Daily Mail. Throughout her lengthy recovery, Rose depended heavily on hospital staff.
“I relied entirely on the nurses for everything,” she added. Rose then thanked the nurses who cared for her during that trauma, noting the intense, long-hour, and emotional nature of their work.

In July 2021, Rose made headlines after revealing that she was rushed back to the hospital after suffering “serious” complications from a recent surgical procedure.
As The Blast reported, she explained that the medical emergency was made even worse by overwhelmed hospitals during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The movie star said the operation itself had gone well, but complications developed the following day, forcing her to seek emergency care.
“I did have a procedure, and I had to have a surgery, but it was fine, and the surgery went well. But then yesterday, I had a few complications, and I had to go to the emergency room,” she shared.
Rose explained that by the time she realized she urgently needed treatment, an ambulance was called, but it spent hours searching for a hospital that could admit her because facilities had been turning patients away all night.
Describing her condition as “quite serious,” she said doctors eventually accepted her after what she called “a bit of a standoff.”

Some alternate-universe movies are just too tantalizing not to imagine what could’ve been, and Renny Harlin’s Alien 3 is one of the most fascinating films that never happened. Harlin’s version would have taken the xenomorphs to Earth or all the way back to their home planet, something the franchise has still not done, over 30 years later. The Die Hard 2 and Cliffhanger director was once lined up to follow Ridley Scott and James Cameron on the franchise, but he ultimately left the project after deciding Fox’s approach was not the film he wanted to make.
Speaking during his masterclass panel at the Mediterrane Film Festival, moderated by Collider Editor-in-Chief Steve Weintraub, Harlin recalled the surreal moment he first realized he had landed one of Hollywood’s biggest directing jobs. The Finnish filmmaker had recently broken through with A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master, but he knew taking on Alien 3 would mean following two all-time genre heavyweights.
“I was offered quite a few movies after Nightmare on Elm Street, and Alien 3 became the most interesting of them. Of course, I admired Ridley Scott’s Alien and James Cameron’s Aliens, and I was thinking, ‘Here’s Renny Harlin, 28 years old, from Finland, and I’m going to follow in the footsteps of these guys?’ So, I made a deal to do the movie for 20th Century Fox. I drove my little rental car through the studio gates, and they had a pass for me. I said, ‘I’m Renny Harlin.’ They said, ‘Welcome, Mr. Harlin. Your office is this way.’ And still, today, it brings tears to my eyes because it was an unreal moment. I thought this was absolutely going to change my life.”
Harlin said the studio’s version of the sequel was going to focus on a prison ship overrun by aliens, an idea that would ultimately become the foundation of David Fincher’s film, but Harlin didn’t see the appeal of that premise, especially after the scale and invention of the first two movies.
“However, the movie that the studio wanted to make was not at all the movie that I thought we should make. They basically said, ‘We want to make a movie where we are on a prison ship, the aliens come to the prison ship, and the prisoners fight the aliens.’ And I said, ‘Why would anybody care about prisoners on a prison ship in space? What’s unique about that?’”
Instead, Harlin had two very different ideas. The first would have brought the xenomorphs to Earth, including a visual that sounds like it could have made for one hell of a teaser poster. “I had two ideas,” explained Harlin. “One idea was that the third one would be about the aliens coming to Earth. Already, I’d drawn them a poster of a cornfield where aliens are marching through the cornfield towards a white farmhouse, and the studio said, ‘Nobody’s going to believe in aliens on Earth.’ This was a little before Jurassic Park and movies like that. Then my other idea was, ‘Let’s go to where the aliens are from. Let’s find the planet where they are from and find out what they are. Are they bad guys? Are they good guys? Are they just oblivious organisms trying to protect themselves?’ They were like, ‘Nobody wants to go where the aliens are from. People want to see a prison ship.’”
Harlin remained at Fox for almost a year, but eventually reached the point where he felt he had to leave rather than direct a movie he could not stand behind. “So, I worked for almost a year on the Fox lot, and then one day… I get asked about directing, and I must say that I think that the most important thing is that you have to be honest with yourself. Have I always succeeded in that? No. But when I’m being honest with myself, that’s when I’ve had the greatest success in my life. There was a day when I decided, ‘I’m going to quit. I have nothing. I have no income, I have no future. I have no other opportunities,’ and I thought, ‘No studio will ever hire me again.’ But I went to the heads of 20th Century Fox, and I said, ‘I’m sorry, I don’t believe in this film. I’m gonna die of embarrassment if I make this movie after what Ridley Scott and James Cameron did.’ And I left.”
Rather than ending his Hollywood career, Harlin’s decision led to an even bigger opportunity at the same studio. Fox offered him a new project the next day, and he went on to direct Die Hard 2, cementing himself as one of the most exciting action filmmakers of the era. “I thought that was it. I might as well buy a ticket back to Finland,” said Harlin. “The next day, 20th Century Fox offered me a new movie, and then I did Die Hard 2 with them, and the rest was history. But it was just because I had the guts to be honest with myself and other people and say, ‘This is not for me. I don’t know how to do it this way. It doesn’t feel right.’ And I think that’s a very, very important thing. It’s easy to kind of go with the mainstream and go with what seems popular and all that, but I think that the only real way is to be honest with yourself about what you do.”
Renny Harlin was speaking at the Mediterrane Film Festival in Valletta, Malta. Stay tuned at Collider for more.

Love Island USA‘s Corbin Mims and Parmida Keshani took their relationship to the next level by showering together in the villa.
The Monday, June 29, episode of the show zeroed in on Corbin and Parmida spending time together in the bathroom. After the camera panned back in, Corbin and Parmida were making out while in the shower, which they then confirmed to the rest of the villa.
They ultimately decided to make things official later in the episode when they declared that they were going to “close things off” after a few days together.
Corbin’s return to the villa hasn’t been easy after finding a connection with Parmida in Casa Amor. Their recoupling initially sparked backlash when Kenzie Annis publicly dragged him for not considering her when he went to explore his chemistry with other women.
Earlier in the week, Corbin revealed there were “red flags” he didn’t address with Kenzie. This inspired Corbin to explore his options — and he later told the guys he “hasn’t thought” of Kenzie at all.
Love Island USA originally premiered in the U.K. in 2002 before it expanded worldwide with various spinoffs, including Love Island USA on Peacock. The series follows a different group of singles every season who have to pair off in order to stay in the show’s luxury villa.

The contestants — referred to as Islanders — live in isolation in a villa and are under constant video surveillance. They must be coupled up to remain on the show and stand a chance at receiving the $100,000 prize.
Season 8 escalated the sex that took place in the villa with multiple couples going all the way while sharing a bedroom in the villa. The drama escalated with Casa Amor when the new women discussed which guys they thought would pair off with them before returning to the villa.
They poked fun at Kenzie’s possible reaction to Parmida walking in with Corbin.
“Kenzie just likes anyone who likes her,” Parmida said after the rest of the women made fun of how Kenzie spoke to Corbin.
New episodes of Love Island USA are released six days a week — except for Wednesdays — on Peacock.

Nearly 50 years after its final episode, EW is revisiting the stars of one of the defining sitcoms of the 1970s.
Influencer Jen Hamilton confirmed that she is stepping away from her nursing job amid her separation from estranged husband, Brian Hamilton.
“I’m taking some time off of work, which is something that I never, ever wanted,” Jen, 37, announced in a vlog on Monday, June 29. “My patients do not deserve the mental state that I would bring to the bedside right now. One moment, I’m OK. The next moment, I’m not OK.”
Per her website, Jen has worked as an ER and obstetrics nurse for more than a decade, specializing in helping mothers through giving birth.
“I don’t know when those moments [of not being OK] are and my patients deserve so much better than that,” she said. “There is so much happening that is so complicated that I wish that I could share right now and I cannot. Just know that I am being a kickass mom, not just to my children but to myself.”

(Jen and Brian wed in 2012 and they share two sons: Ellis and Luke.)
On June 15, Jen fought back tears in a TikTok vlog where she revealed she’d separated from husband Brian.
“I’m feeling embarrassed and feeling exposed and feeling sad, feeling every single thing you probably possibly feel,” she shared with followers. “My publicists say that I should make a statement ‘when I’m ready.’ There is no being ready. But there’s already been a bunch of articles about it, so I might as well just rip the Band-Aid off and put it out there in the wind.”
She subsequently shared a joint statement with Brian, thereby confirming the split.
“Yes, we are separating,” their joint statement read. “This comes with enormous pain for the both of us but also gratitude for the 15 years of shared history, love, and friendship. What we are committed to is loving each other well through this transition and placing the wellbeing of the family we created at the center.”
The Hamiltons went on, “We are hoping our paths diverging in physical location will make space and room for mental healing for the other. We still are committed to being a team. We even wrote this together (and without chatgpt). We both want to be very clear. This wasn’t about falling out of love. That’s why this is so devastating. It was about recognizing that sometimes the most loving thing you can do is give someone space to figure out complex things. And that’s exactly what we are doing.”
In that video, Jen promised fans that she was “gonna be alright” — but she compared the separation to the pain of childbirth in a subsequent vlog.
“It feels like labor,” Jen said in a June 20 video. “You’ll be OK for a minute and here comes a contraction! And another thing about this and labor is I don’t know when it’s going to end.”
The Birth Vibes author continued, “The thing that is annoying me right now — that I know it shouldn’t be annoying to me, but I wish that I had something stable to count on — is the labileness of my feelings right now. Because I can wake feeling OK and, like, do stuff and get stuff done and feel like a boss and then somebody mentions something and I’m just a puddle on the floor.”
In Monday’s vlog, Jen made it clear that she will continue to root for Brian despite how their marriage ended.
“Even after everything that has happened, I have no animosity, no ill will. I want him to find himself,” she explained. “I want him to be the bestest version of himself that he’s ever been. I’m gonna be his biggest cheerleader as he is on that journey.”
Jen then vowed, “I’m also going to be my biggest cheerleader. I am going to model for my children what it means to have healthy relationships, healthy self-worth and allowing those that we love the very most in this world to accept and embrace the gift that is accountability and consequence for the decisions that we make in this life.”
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are ensuring no one can ruin their big day!
The famous couple has been big on privacy regarding their wedding plans, keeping every little detail under wraps, including their wedding venue.
Sources have revealed the shocking measures they took to ensure any guest spilling the tea about their union will be caught. Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce will reportedly tie the knot on July 3.

According to sources with direct knowledge about Swift and Kelce’s upcoming union, the duo allegedly watermarked each wedding invite. The guest’s first and last name were repeated throughout the invitation as a security measure to catch anyone who leaked it online.
Sources explained that if a guest chose to photograph and post the invitation publicly, Swift and Kelce would be able to identify the person responsible through the watermarked invite. Their security measure to catch tattletales appeared to have worked, as there have been no leaked invites.
TMZ learned that the lovebirds began sending invitations in early spring, with many guests receiving them around April. The invites reportedly did not mention the wedding venue, only listing July 3 as the date and New York City as the location.

Although Swift and Kelce remain secretive about their wedding venue, many reports have highlighted Madison Square Garden as the most likely location for the July 3 affair. The outlet reported that sources had further fueled the speculations thanks to a permit request.
The permit reportedly requested that New York City close streets around Madison Square Garden from July 2 through midday July 4. The paperwork stated the street closure was a July 3 event, sparking more speculation about Swift and Kelce saying their vows in MSG.
Event planners also requested space for tents, canopies, and trucks around the arena. The wedding venue speculations continued with several members of Kelce’s Kansas City Chiefs team allegedly booking rooms at the famous Marriott Marquis in Times Square for the same period.

While many believed Swift and Kelce were planning to tie the knot at MSG, one wedding planner begged to differ. RoseMarie Terenzio, who planned John F. Kennedy Jr.’s secret wedding to Carolyn Bessette nearly 30 years ago, weighed in on the wedding venue speculations.
Terenzio told “CBS Mornings” that she did not believe the famous duo was planning to say their vows at MSG. Instead, JFK Jr.’s former aide theorized that the arena was a decoy meant to distract the public from the actual wedding ceremony.
Although Terenzio did not believe the wedding would happen at MSG, she suspected Swift chose the location to plan something special for fans. “I think she has such an emotional connection to her fans and she understands that relationship so well that I think there will be something for the fans,” Terenzio said.

Amid the growing speculations of Swift and Kelce’s wedding venue, The Blast shared that an industry insider had dropped a shocking perspective. The source echoed similar sentiments to Terenzio’s decoy theory, pointing out that the couple might have said their vows.
“Something this big and lavish is somewhat antithetical to what those closest to her would have imagined for her wedding,” the insider said about Swift’s preferences. “And that’s why many feel the MSG event will be a celebration of marriage that will have already occurred,” they added.
Sources from City Hall further fueled the narrative by confirming that a permit to use MSG for an event with about 100 people had been secured for July 2, presumably for a more intimate gathering. There was another permit for a larger event for July 3 with over 1,000 people in attendance.

According to a recent report by The Blast, the upcoming wedding could feature performances from music legends Stevie Nicks and Tim McGraw. The latter has history with the “Opalite” hitmaker, whose 2006 debut single was titled “Tim McGraw.”
As for the other iconic singer, fans began speculating he could perform at Swift and Kelce’s union following Game 4 of the NBA Finals. The soon-to-be bride appeared at Madison Square Garden wearing a top illustrated with the words “Stevie Knicks.”
Nicks and McGraw weren’t the only speculated performers, as there were rumors of a surprise performance by Beatles Legend Paul McCartney. Swift and McCartney once shared the stage during the 40th anniversary celebration of “Saturday Night Live.”

I really, really love horror movies. Like, all of them. But as an ‘80s kid, my preference is for slashers where over-the-top killers slowly pick off hapless teens, one by one. By comparison, body horror is something I have to really be in the mood for because it feels more visceral and, in many ways, much scarier. In a Friday the 13th film, the worst Jason Voorhees will do is brutally stab someone. But in a body horror film, you’re likely to get melting bodies, mutated faces, and explosive showers of gore. It’s genuinely disturbing stuff, and the right cast can transform such a film into an instant classic.
That’s exactly what happened with Together, the powerhouse directorial debut from Michael Shanks. The movie stars real-life couple James Franco and Alison Brie, and their chemistry adds so many layers of electric tension to almost every scene. Like many, I’m a huge fan of Community, and I’d happily watch Brie read a phone book. Fortunately, Together is much more entertaining than that, and she’s at her sexy, charismatic best in a film that explores everything from compromise to codependence. It’s a relationship film in a creepy horror wrapper, meaning you and your partner can enjoy the world’s weirdest date night by streaming Together, well, Together!

The premise of Together is that a couple (played by Dave Franco and Alison Brie) is in a relationship that has grown stagnant. They try to patch things up with some big changes: she gets a job teaching at an elementary school, and he moves to the new town with her to focus on his music career. Things are still rocky, but they try to bond by exploring their new town together. After falling into a cave, however, they discover something horrific: their bodies are physically trying to merge together, and tearing themselves apart afterward causes pain and, quite possibly, death.
Together is powerful largely because it focuses entirely on our two main characters, Tim and Millie. Sure, there are other characters, including friends at a going-away party and a friendly teacher at the elementary school. The vast majority of the time, however, we are just focused on this couple and their relationship troubles. Those troubles form a kind of Rorschach test early in the movie as viewers try to decide who is most to blame. Is it Millie for expecting too much of her man, who makes a major life change for her despite grieving his recently deceased parents? Or is it Tim, a slacker who spent years failing to get his life together?

The drama between these characters is that much more potent because of their talented actors. Dave Franco and Alison Brie are great on their own, but they are perfect onscreen together because they are a couple in real life. This allows the two to infuse scenes with all of the emotional highs and lows of an actual relationship. When they have snippy little fights over everything from navigation to sex, it feels both relatable and raw. However, their affection for each other is very clear, with their arguments reflecting (with painful accuracy) how nobody can hurt you like the one you love. In that way, Together features one of the most realistic portrayals of a relationship in modern film.
As an added bonus, Together strikes that rare balance between powerful social commentary and visceral storytelling. The couple at the center of this film is painfully codependent, something dramatized by the horrific concept of being forced to become one body. That premise leads to some great grossout moments courtesy of director Michael Shanks, who is clearly a fan of David Cronenberg. Even as the body horror gives audiences a visceral ick, though, the film asks some hard questions: what causes codependence? How do you maintain individuality in a relationship? And how much of yourself can you sacrifice before there’s just nothing left?

If that sounds a bit heavy, don’t worry: Together also has sprinkles of weird humor throughout, much of it coming from the easygoing banter between Dave Franco and Alison Brie. The movie isn’t exactly a comedy, but it will make you laugh, and those moments of levity help to offset the more harrowing scenes. At the same time, the comedy underscores the terror of their characters’ bizarre situation. That situation will hit that much harder for anyone currently in a relationship because it forces you to ask yet another hard question: what if this were happening to us?
There’s not much else to say about Together without ruining some of its delicious twists and turns, and trust me: it’s worth experiencing these surprises for yourself. If you’re still on the fence, you should know this quirky horror movie has a whopping 90 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, making it the rare horror film that blew critics’ minds. Will it blow your mind, though, or just make you want to start merging your hand with the remote as you change the channel? You won’t know until you find out for yourself; Together is currently streaming on Hulu.

A dramatic shakeup has hit “Love Island UK” just as one of the show’s most anticipated twists gets underway. Casa Amor bombshell Gabriel Garland has reportedly been removed from the ITV2 dating series after producers became aware of reports linking him to a 2019 stabbing incident. While Garland was never convicted of any crime related to the case, his reported connection to court documents surrounding the altercation has sparked controversy among fans. The unexpected exit comes just as viewers prepare for the return of Casa Amor, the fan-favorite twist designed to test the strength of the Islanders’ relationships.
Garland was introduced as one of six male bombshells entering Casa Amor during Season 13. “Gabriel has now left the Villa and will not be returning,” an ITV spokesperson told Deadline in a statement.
The newcomer was set to join the secondary villa alongside five other men in an effort to tempt the female Islanders away from their existing couples. However, reports indicate producers decided to remove him from the show after learning of his alleged connection to a 2019 stabbing case.
Despite his reported removal, Garland will still appear in Sunday’s episode when the Casa Amor bombshells are first introduced. His appearance beyond that episode, however, has reportedly been cut short.
The controversy comes as “Love Island UK” launches another installment of its famous Casa Amor twist. Each season, the format separates the men and women into different villas before introducing a fresh group of bombshell contestants. The goal is to test existing relationships and determine whether Islanders remain loyal to their current partners or pursue new romantic connections.
This year’s Casa Amor lineup included six new women and six new men entering the competition. Alongside Garland, the male bombshells included Tommy, Jordon, Will, Carlos, and Aaron.
The female newcomers included Charleen, Mara, Martha, Olivia, Nevaeh, and Julia.
Garland’s reported removal comes as “Love Island UK” viewers are already finding plenty to talk about during this year’s Casa Amor twist. Recent episodes have introduced a fresh batch of bombshells tasked with testing existing couples, and fans were quick to react to one contestant in particular: Aidan.
According to viewers, it took less than three minutes of Monday night’s episode for Aidan to become the center of attention after openly discussing kissing one of the new arrivals.
The drama unfolded after the Islanders participated in a flirtatious game of “Two Truths and a Lie,” where correct guesses were rewarded with a kiss.
As the group got to know one another, Aidan spoke with bombshell Julia about her kiss with his brother, Kavan, during the game. He jokingly suggested she would need to determine which brother was the better kisser before asking for a kiss himself.
Julia ultimately obliged, but viewers were stunned when Aidan later appeared to pursue another kiss with fellow bombshell Martha.
Afterward, he reportedly told the group that he and Martha would be sharing a bed that evening.
The scenes quickly sparked criticism online, with some fans arguing that Aidan was moving far too quickly after arriving at Casa Amor.
Several viewers took to social media to express frustration with the Islander’s behavior, with some even joking that producers should send him home before the twist had fully unfolded.
Others questioned whether his actions signaled trouble ahead for any potential romantic connections he hoped to build inside the villa. “Send Aidan home please,” one user wrote as another said, “Aidan needs to be stopped. I cannot believe he hasn’t been warned. He makes me sick”.
With Casa Amor only just getting started, however, many fans suspect even more drama could be on the horizon before the Islanders are forced to decide whether to remain loyal to their partners or recouple with someone new.
