The Wittiest Crime Movie of the Decade Sits at 82% on RT and Almost No One Saw It

Martin McDonagh has become something of an odd critical darling. While his film directing dates back to 2008 and his work has developed a cult following, it’s his most recent movies — Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri and The Banshees of Inisherin — that caught the attention of mass audiences and turned heads when the award season came around. The latter is even more impressive when you consider the films are chock-full of things that the Academy would presumably turn their noses at. To those who’ve been fans of his since his early work, he’s like the director equivalent of the cool indie band that went mainstream.

While his films have become celebrated, it’s his older ones that informed his style, and those are the ones that seem to get lost in the shuffle most consistently. Many might argue that his most underrated film is In Bruges, but the one that doesn’t get talked about enough is his sophomore outing, Seven Psychopaths. It has all the hallmarks and odd quirks that make McDonagh’s movies memorable, but it sidesteps the undertones that make the dramatic moments weigh a ton. In a bizarre turn, this might be his most accessible and crowd-pleasing film.

What Is Martin McDonagh’s Thriller ‘Seven Psycopaths About?

The story follows a screenwriter named Marty (Colin Farrell) who’s heavy on drinking but low on inspiration to write his screenplay, Seven Psychopaths. He rediscovers the inspiration when his off-kilter buddy Billy (Sam Rockwell) and his associate Hans (Christopher Walken) kidnap the dog of a bloody-thirsty gangster (Woody Harrelson). Now they’re on the run and have to live long enough to figure out how they’re going to finish the screenplay and survive the ordeal (in that order).

“Crowd-pleasing” may be an odd word to describe Seven Psychopaths, considering all of McDonagh’s movies have their fair share of alienating elements. However, while his other films have lofty themes and weighty subject matter, this one really is just about characters trying to write a screenplay. The threat of a criminal being out to kill them gets lost in the background because it’s not really the central focus when everything gets boiled down.

‘Seven Psychopaths’ Is a Bold Thriller in Several Key Ways

Seven Psychopaths is probably closest, structurally and stylistically, to The Big Lebowski. No one really learns anything or grows as characters; they’re just thrown together in weird predicaments to see what comes out and see how they react. When your main antagonist is introduced in an interrogation scene by walking in while eating a single strawberry, does that sound like a threat that you’re supposed to take seriously? Because the characters don’t. This is with the exception of Marty, who acts as the audience surrogate. Billy and Hans seem somewhere between inconvenienced and indifferent to the crime element that just got inserted into their lives.

The 10 Heaviest Movies of the Last 30 Years, Ranked

These movies carry a lot of weight.

The film does away with any attempt to make a statement about anything, and focuses instead on a meta commentary on itself and movie tropes. There are dramatic moments that are given time to breathe, but any moments that are made out to be deep or heady are often in the service of the screenplay that the characters themselves are writing, and are done away with when the characters acknowledge that the idea of including challenging subject matter in a movie called Seven Psychopaths is completely asinine.

Martin McDonough’s ‘Seven Psychopaths’ Is His Most Underrated Movie

The unspoken running gag of the movie is subverting tropes or doing away with them entirely. The movie starts with a Tarantino-esque cold open with two hit men (Michael Stuhlbarg and Michael Pitt) casually talking about whether John Dillinger got shot in the eyeball while waiting to put a hit out on someone. These characters could’ve been the leads of their own movie, but they end up being fodder for one of the real key players (and titular psychopaths) of the story, the Jack of Diamonds, who promptly kills them before the title card. It’s a good early indicator that nothing is going to go down the way you’d expect — which is pretty ironic that that’s the precedent it sets considering this is McDonagh’s only movie that you could say has a happy ending.

Seven Psychopaths is Martin McDonagh’s most laid-back film — offering his trademark clever dialogue and unruly characters — without the baggage of heavy plot points and deep thematic undertones. They’re here in bits and pieces, but they’re used as background dressing for the characters (specifically Hans) to give them more depth. That lack of dramatic weight may keep it from being considered one of his “great” films, but it helps make it easier to revisit as a hangout movie than, say, a heavy movie like In Bruges. If you want a Martin McDonagh movie that makes for a good casual viewing before Wild Horse Nine comes out in November, Seven Psychopaths is for you.

Michael Jackson Actor And Impersonator Link Up In Los Angeles

Published

on

Jaafar Jackson at the 51st AFI Life Achievement Award

It was a state of double vision for fans when they saw the actor who played Michael Jackson and an online impersonator within feet of each other.

The two media sensations came face-to-face this weekend at an event in Los Angeles. Jaafar Jackson, the actor who plays the iconic singer in the upcoming biopic “Michael,” has received praise for fully embodying the role of his late uncle.

This movie would mark Michael Jackson’s nephew’s debut in the professional acting world. Jaafar has previously expressed that he feels honored to step into the music icon’s shoes, even though it’s only before the cameras.

How Many More Michael Jacksons Are Out There?

The media raved after it was revealed that Jaafar, who is Michael’s biological nephew, would be taking the lead role in the upcoming film scheduled to hit screens this weekend. Many waves arose around their resemblance, and artistic qualities align perfectly, especially when the trailer hit the media, with praises resting on fans’ lips for the young star.

Michael’s signature look is not long gone, nor is it tied to the Jackson clan, and this was evidently displayed by an online content creator, Fabio Jackson, at the AFI Lifetime Awards in L.A. Jaafar and Fabio’s eyes met when they both attended the event over the weekend, and the moment was hilarious and uncanny.

Fans say that the young actor appeared to be caught off guard when Fabio walked up to him and even stretched out his hand for a handshake. Photos uploaded by TMZ show the online impersonator side by side with an image of the iconic singer, and safe to say, Fabio clocked the look. It would have been a gasping moment if Jaafar and Fabio showed up to the event in matching iconic Michael outfits.

The younger actor’s role as the lead character in the biopic has caught the attention of fans. Despite being born into a family of entertainers, this would mark his first professional acting role and might be his first of many. Since Lionsgate released the trailer for the movie, online viewers and even industry stars have taken to the internet with positive feedback about Jaafar.

The two-minute trailer has gotten millions of views and comments filled with compliments about the entertainer amid fans expressing their eager spirits for the film to hit the cinemas. An online viewer noted that watching the portrayal of the iconic singer felt so real, as if Michael was reborn in his nephew’s body.

“The way he moves… that is genetic memory,” the user gushed. “You can’t teach that level of precision. We are witnessing a resurrection.” The Blast also noted that Antoine Fuqua, one of the directors of “Michael,” told news outlets that he noticed so many similarities between the “Smooth Criminal” singer and his nephew. “[He] sounds like him, dances like him, sings. It’s really uncanny.” Fuqua previously noted.

Other Members Of The Cast Had Fans Equally Excited

“Michael” also stars Nia Long, Colman Domingo, and Miles Teller, who many can’t wait to see on screen. Fans have given the crew their flowers for the casting, noting the actor’s resemblance to the real-life characters. Domingo, who appeared in the trailer in his element as the deceased singer’s father, has viewers thrilled to bits. In the biopic, Domingo is joined by Long to portray Michael Jackson’s parents, Joe and Katherine.

Many netizens pointed out that Domingo has a good deal of physical resemblance to Joe. More fans are already raising award talk ahead of next year’s Oscars. “Colman Domingo, your 2027 Oscar is ready, sir,”  a fan wrote. “Colman Domingo is scary as F-CK in this clip. He’s clearing all the best supporting actor awards, I fear,” another added.

Besides the swirling accolades for the actor, other internet users have been looking at the film from a financial aspect, with predictions as to how much it will hit at the box office. The numbers are running in the billions as “Michael” looks to be a success.

Jaafar Jackson Felt Honored By His Role In The Biopic

Back in 2023, the young actor shared his feelings about being cast as the lead character in the Lionsgate biopic. While he is not new to screens, as he has previously been featured on singing and dancing projects, this is the first time he will be stepping into the acting side of the industry.

Jaafar wrote on social media, attached to a photo of him appearing to burst a similar move as his late uncle often did on stage. “I’m humbled and honored to bring my Uncle Michael’s story to life. To all the fans all over the world, I’ll see you soon.” The photo showed the then 26-year-old rocking ankle-length slacks, dress shoes, a hat, white socks, and a vest underneath a jacket.

The Blast reported that Jaafar was picked for the role after a global casting search. Graham King, co-producer for the movie, told outlets that he was “the only person to take on this role.” King also noted that the young star had impeccable representation of his late uncle. Jaafar channeling his inner Michael may stem from the childhood memories he has of spending time at Neverland with the late singer.

Michael Jackson’s Daughter Washed Her Hands Of The Movie

The feud surrounding the production of “Michael” has made headlines over time, involving the late singer’s sister, Janet Jackson, and brother, Jermaine. As much as other members of the family were hands-in on the project, Paris Jackson, the “Beat It” singer’s daughter, decided to step back completely from the project in 2025.

The Blast reports that she had taken herself off the project last September after Domingo suggested she had been “helpful” on set.  Paris clarified in a post, telling the actor not to claim she was involved in the project as she had “0% involvement.” The late singer’s daughter also explained that she decided to step away when she noticed the filmmakers did not address the concerns she brought to their attention.

Paris revealed that she read one of the early script drafts and provided feedback on some parts of the storyline that did not sit right with her. After sharing her detailed concerns with the filmmakers, they allegedly did not take them into account to correct the inaccuracies Paris had highlighted, and this fueled her decision to remove herself from the crew.

Will Michael Jackson’s biopic be the movie of the year?

Love on the Spectrum Star Abbey Romeo’s Mom Talks David Split

Published

Love on the Spectrum star Abbey Romeo’s mom, Christine, broke her silence on her daughter’s recent split from David Isaacman.

“Abbey and David had a long relationship of four-and-a-half years … Abbey has grown a ton since she started both social media and Love on the Spectrum,” Christine explained in a YouTube vlog on Sunday, April 19. “She started to understand her own story [and] see herself as a person with autism in the world, learn how to accept her autism and still try to have a relationship and fit in. None of the growth would have happened without David.”

Christine pointed out that Abbey, 27, learned “so much” through her relationship with David, 31, before realizing that “David was happy in his way of doing life” while “Abbey’s was different.”

“I’m personally grateful to David for being a mirror for her to see and figure out what she wants, who she is, what’s [her] love language,” Christine added. “The other part of that is please don’t judge autistic relationships as if they were typical. So many people on the spectrum are not going to do what typical people do.”

She went on, [People on the spectrum are not always] in it to get married, get a house, get a new car, have children. … What they had was a great, great thing, that’s thanks to the show.”

Christine argued that people upset by the breakup may be “missing the point on Abbey and David.”

“I think they will have a forever-bond. There was no fight,” she insisted. “By the way, all the headlines — bulls***. Just so we can be clear over that. There was no fight over engagements and rings being thrown around.”

Later in the video, Christine clarified that Abbey and David had not fully discussed getting engaged before separating.

On April 10, Abbey, David and their families released a joint statement to People confirming that the Love on the Spectrum couple recently broke up.

“Abbey and David spent four and a half years together and truly value the time they shared and each other,” they announced. “At this point, they want different things and have decided to go their separate ways, but they remain friends wishing each other the best.”

When Us Weekly spoke to Abbey and David in October 2024, they both expressed a desire to get engaged in the future.

“We [are] gonna get engaged someday,” David told Us at the time. “[Abbey] likes all the things I like and she tries new things too. She is loving and kind … and she is beautiful and makes me feel like a prince.”

Abbey added, “[We’ll] get engaged someday … [right now] we’re having a blast.”

A year later, Abbey clarified to Us that she and David were enjoying their time together without any pressure or expectations for the relationship.

“We have fun together and do things we both love like going to the Los Angeles Zoo and Griffith Observatory,” she said in October 2025. “We want to take our time getting married because I don’t want to be a divorced lady like my mom.”

Abbey and David originally met during filming of Love on the Spectrum season 1 and had their first date at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park in July 2021.

She added, “I feel a certain type of way, because you being disrespectful. I did 35 shows, and I never had a problem, and we’ve been kind to everybody.”

After the show, the “Bodak Yellow” hitmaker kept the energy going, performing again at an after-party held at The Dome Atlanta, proving she wasn’t about to let the situation derail her night. She turned heads in a halter-style snakeskin bodysuit featuring a plunging neckline that highlighted her curves, paired with thigh-high boots.

The fitted silhouette and daring print gave the outfit a fierce vibe, while her glam, complete with sleek hair and dramatic makeup, pulled the whole look together for a true after-party moment.

By the next day, Cardi shifted the tone, posting a heartfelt Instagram Reel thanking everyone involved in her “Little Miss Drama Tour.” “A LETTER IS NOT ENOUGH ..Yall gotta hear it from my mouth [red heart emoji]….Thank You, my friends,” she captioned the clip.

“Hey y’all, it is your girl Cardi B, and I have to do this video right now while I’m drunk, so I can tell you how I really, really feel and not overthink while I’m talking,” she said. “I just want to say thank you everybody who came out to the Little Miss Drama Tour and was a part of the ‘Little Miss Drama Tour.’”

She went on to shout out everyone behind the scenes, from production and glam to dancers, venues, catering, security, and even bus drivers, making it clear the tour was a team effort. “I also want to say thank you to everybody because this tour went really, really smooth and it went really smooth because we all did a great job,” she added.

This isn’t the first time Cardi B has found herself in the headlines during her “Little Miss Drama Tour.” Back in February, the Grammy-winning rapper sparked backlash after joking on opening night that she’d use “bear mace” to protect herself from ICE agents.

The comment quickly caught the attention of the Department of Homeland Security, which responded publicly on X by referencing her past. “As long as she doesn’t drug and rob our agents, we’ll consider that an improvement over her past behavior,” the agency wrote.

Cardi didn’t stay quiet, firing back with her own post, writing, “If we talking about drugs let’s talk about Epstein and friends drugging underage girls to rape them. Why yall don’t wanna talk about the Epstein files?”

Her “Little Miss Drama Tour” kicked off on February 11 in Palm Desert and spanned 35 shows, all in support of her second studio album, “Am I The Drama?,” which dropped in September.

Dylan Sprouse Reacts To Home Invasion With Humor

Published

on

Dylan Sprouse And Barbara Palvin Have Reportedly Tied The Knot In A Beautiful Ceremony In Hungary

Dylan Sprouse and his wife Barbara Palvin are speaking out after a recent home invasion in their California residence. Reports indicate that the actor tackled the intruder as they waited for authorities to arrive. Despite the alarming situation, the former Disney star responded with his signature humor, downplaying the incident and even showing off karate moves.

Dylan Sprouse And Barbara Palvin Rely On Humor

On April 20, Dylan Sprouse and Barbara Palvin attended the premiere of “The Devil Wears Prada 2” in New York. On the red carpet, the couple broke their silence on the home invasion that occurred at their California residence only days prior.

When E! News reporter Erin Lim Rhodes hinted at the incident, Sprouse said that he planned to address it by doing “performative karate” moves, but Palvin told him that it would be “cringe,” so he didn’t do it. “It’s dealing with the trauma with jokes and fun and all that,” the model said, to which her husband added, “I thought it was funny.”

The Former Disney Star Showed Off His Karate Moves

Rhodes then asked the couple whether it was “too soon” to talk about the incident or if they had reached the point where they could discuss it with humor. As Sprouse said, “This is actually to my detriment, but I’m not a ‘too soon’ guy in general,” adding that he and Palvin laugh about many things soon after they happen.

“You’ve got to have levity in life. Thankfully, no one was hurt, and there was no more violence than what happened. So, it’s all okay,” Sprouse explained. Palvin added that they’re just happy to be in New York to watch the movie premiere.

In another red carpet interview, this time with Entertainment Tonight, the couple was asked how they were doing. “We’re good. We’re happy,” Palvin said, smiling. Meanwhile, her husband started doing karate chops before saying, “‘Nuff said.”

Dylan Sprouse Reportedly Held The Man At Gunpoint

At about 12:30 a.m. on April 17, 911 received a call from Palvin about an attempted burglary at the home she shared with Sprouse. As reported by The Blast, Sprouse tackled the trespasser on the lawn before his wife called for help. A source told TMZ that the actor held the man at gunpoint before the authorities arrived at the scene.

Authorities noted that the intruder didn’t make it inside the house, but was on the property. As a result, the situation was not considered a burglary but rather a trespassing incident. The unnamed suspect was arrested on outstanding warrants that were not related to the home invasion.

TMZ obtained the arrest footage showing the man being handcuffed in front of Sprouse’s property, which clearly had “Private Property” and “No Trespassing” signs on the gate.

The Actor’s Bravery Sparked Mixed Reactions

Many online users praised Sprouse’s quick action, with one saying, “Talk about being at the wrong place at the wrong time. Respect. Protecting his home and family.” “That’s when you say ‘I have a man at home’ dude is a super hero,” another person added.

One user pointed out Sprouse’s transition, saying, “I love how bro got older and literally became a Man… do you know what it means to apprehend a trespasser? Because anything could go wrong.” Another commented, “Dylan Sprouse went full John Wick on a trespasser… From Suite Life kid to Hollywood Hills protector defending his wife like that? Zack grew up and became THAT guy. Real man behavior,” referring to his character, Zack, on Disney’s “The Suite Life of Zack & Cody.”

Others, however, pointed out how the situation could have gone awry. One user said Sprouse thought he was in an action movie, adding, “Holding someone at gunpoint isn’t bravery, it’s just a rich guy in the Hollywood Hills desperate to prove he’s more than a former Disney kid.” Another person shared the same sentiment, writing, “People are really celebrating this like it’s heroic, but pulling a gun and playing vigilante could’ve gone sideways real fast this isn’t a movie.”

Sprouse and Palvin first met in 2017, but it wasn’t until the following year that they started dating. The two appeared in several public events together, with Sprouse supporting his model girlfriend at fashion shows and other events. Sprouse and Palvin often share glimpses of their relationship on social media, posting photos together and writing sweet captions on special occasions.

The couple tied the knot in July 2023 in a church ceremony, followed by a reception at Palvin’s parents’ property in Hungary, where the model is originally from. “This past weekend was supposed to be an intimate event, but we ended up having 115 guests in the end because there are a lot of people we care about,” Palvin posted on Instagram.

West Wilson Sparks New Drama With Amanda Batula Defense

West Wilson, Summer House cast member.

Summer House” star West Wilson is finally addressing the growing drama surrounding his relationship with Amanda Batula, and he’s not holding back.

After rumors swirled about an overlap with his ex, Ciara Miller, online backlash intensified, even leading to Batula’s phone number being leaked.

Now, Wilson is setting the record straight on the timeline, admitting his actions have hurt people close to him, and preparing to confront the situation directly as tensions continue to build ahead of the reunion.

West Wilson Denies Timeline Rumors In Amanda Batula Drama

West Wilson is pushing back against speculation that his relationship with Batula overlapped with his past romance with her close friend Miller.

Speaking on an episode of his “Show Me Something” podcast with co-host Sophie Cunningham, he made it clear that the timeline circulating online is inaccurate.

“There was no overlap,” he said, shutting down theories that have been circulating among fans.

He added, “I know there’s a thousand different theories on the internet right now, but that is one thing that for sure did not happen. Everyone was single.”

Wilson explained that his connection with Batula didn’t immediately turn serious. Instead, he noted that things only began to feel more meaningful earlier this year.

According to him, they “realized things were maybe a little bit serious in February.”

He revealed that she has been dealing with the harshest consequences of the situation, saying she has taken the “brunt” of the backlash.

According to the reality TV star, things escalated to a troubling level when her personal information was exposed.

He shared that the TV personality’s phone number had been leaked, leading to a wave of negative messages directed at her.

At the same time, Wilson admitted that the fallout has weighed on him emotionally. Reflecting on the impact of his actions, he said, “The hardest part I think with this whole situation is, you know, my actions have hurt people that I care about.”

With tensions still high, he noted that he plans to address everything directly, including offering apologies and clearing up misinformation during the upcoming reunion.

Although Wilson intended to clear things up with his explanation, it only made things worse, as many fans took turns slamming him in the comments section.

“This is not about overlap. It’s about character— booking up with an ex’s bFF and hooking up with your guy friends wife! What are you confused about?” one person wrote.

Another with similar thoughts added, “I don’t think NO ONE cares about an overlap, timeline, changing numbers, etc! It should HAVE NEVER HAPPENED!!!”

A third fan also noted, “It doesn’t matter if everyone was single you still don’t mess with a friend’s ex which you both did. They have a right to be hurt by that for sure and you haven’t shown any loyalty.”

Other fans also slammed Batula for getting involved with her BFF’s ex, noting that she deserved all the hate she was getting.

“If you and Amanda think you did nothing wrong then that’s crazy. And really it’s more her than you. Ciara uplifted her for years and she pays her back with this,” one angry person commented.

West Wilson’s comments come as Ciara Miller shares her own perspective on the situation.

Miller has been preparing for the “Summer House” reunion and hinted that her mindset has shifted compared to previous appearances.

While she isn’t focused on making a dramatic statement with her outfit, she admitted she is approaching the event differently.

She also opened up about how the situation has affected her emotionally, particularly because it has played out so publicly.

“It’s one thing to experience hurt behind closed doors; to experience it so publicly is like another layer, and then to have to see what you thought was your life still play out in season 10. It’s a major mindf-ck,” she told Glamour.

Miller further reflected on trusting her instincts, saying, “Just know when something’s weird in your gut, there’s a reason,” while also adding, “What’s done in the dark always comes to light.”

Amid the messy drama involving her and Ciara Miller, Amanda Batula has also addressed her involvement with Wilson, acknowledging the fallout and emotional weight of the situation.

As The Blast reported, after confirming her romance with the 31-year-old, Batula admitted that it was never her and Wilson’s intention to purposely hide anything, explaining they needed time to process their feelings due to the complicated relationship dynamics.

She added, “We also recognize that this has had an impact beyond just us and never wanted our actions to cause any hurt.”

Addressing the backlash more personally, Batula later shared that the situation still weighed heavily on her, noting that she was trying to return to some sense of normalcy without ignoring what happened.

One of the All-Time Best WWII Movies Was Actually Made as Propaganda

Published

on

Man shooting shotgun in Went the Day Well

Based on a Graham Greene short story and explicitly designed to lift the public’s spirits as World War II wound on and Brits feared Nazi infiltrators, the British World War II film Went the Day Well? could easily be a stuffy time capsule of a film in 2026. However, even today, it’s still a bracing war film that clearly lived past its sell-by date to inspire filmmakers from Sam Peckinpah and Edgar Wright to Quentin Tarantino.

Director Alberto Cavalcanti carefully paints bucolic daily life in a quiet English village before the peace is shattered by a Nazi vanguard — and the film turns into a bloody siege thriller, with everyday folks taking up arms to defend their homes. Boasting an incredible lineup of British screen greats and surprisingly brutal action, Went the Day Well? is well worth a look in 2026, whether as a sort of Inglourious Basterds prototype or one of the best WWII films of all time in its own right.

‘Went the Day Well?’ Is the Kind of Nazi-Killing Thriller the Public Needed During WWII

Man shooting shotgun in Went the Day Well

Went the Day Well? makes its intentions clear almost from frame one, with a gravedigger laying out the stakes for the audience and promising that no matter the threat, there is Nazi killing to come. “They wanted England, these Jerries did,” says the film’s narrator as he points to a gravestone with a German name on it. “And this is the only bit they got.”

The sun shines, the milk is delivered, and prim English manners are on full display when a squadron of “British” soldiers arrive in the countryside town of Bramley End and are welcomed with open arms. Hints abound that all is not well. In a tense pub scene before the action begins, a kindly old barmaid offers a toast to the undercover Germans, jokingly referring to them as foreigners and cheering, “Down with Hitler!” as the men show their discomfort with some extremely subtle facial expressions. Cavalcanti manages a level of tension in sequences like these that will remind viewers of Tarantino’s legendary pub standoff some 70 years later.

The Nazi soldiers eventually take the village hostage, with efforts to warn the outside Allied forces frustrated. And things come to a boil when kindly postmistress Mrs. Collins convinces one of the Germans that she’s a sympathizer, then blinds him with the very cup of sugar she’s about to serve before sinking an axe into him in a spectacularly tense and cathartic scene. From this point forward, Went the Day Well?‘s lineage through Inglourious Basterds and even Hot Fuzz‘s country village siege climax becomes clear.

The innocent in Went the Day Well? suffer remarkably cruel fates for a film of its time — especially for one designed to lift the country’s spirits. A young boy is shot through the leg, the aforementioned barmaid is bayoneted, and another village woman literally throws herself on a grenade to save the children in her charge. It was an “orgy of shockingly blunt, matter-of-fact violence” for the time, according to British film critic Tom Huddleston.

Cavalcanti stages several thrilling set pieces as the villagers strike back, and the gorgeous black and white cinematography, particularly in a tense forest sequence, recalls some of the dark fairy-tale beauty of Night of the Hunter, which wouldn’t release for more than a decade. Throughout its brief running time, the mannered, extremely proper acting style of 1940s Britain clashes wonderfully with the brutal violence and jingoistic attitude toward the Nazi invaders.

And the climactic scene with the village women taking sniper shots at fleeing Germans from church windows offers a similar giddy thrill to Tarantino’s vengeance-fueled set pieces in Inglourious Basterds and Django Unchained, and Went the Day Well? ends as it began: With the Nazis underneath the ground and the plucky British townsfolk returning to business as usual.

‘Went the Day Well?’ Is a Breezy Blast — And Easy to Watch Today

The Guardian’s Phillip French later called Went the Day Well? the single “best, most ferocious picture of the war years,” and its pure lizard-brain focus on revenge and giving the Nazis what-for remains a dubious joy to this day.

As a piece of propaganda by Britain’s wartime Ministry of Information, it served its purpose well, both warning of Nazi “fifth columnists” and boosting viewers’ morale. But the criminally under-seen Went the Day Well? also left a lasting imprint on pop entertainment, and it can still be streamed on Prime Video and for free on the Internet Archive. At a slim 88 minutes, it’s an easy bet for war film enthusiasts — and it still packs a surprising punch.

Rebecca Ferguson’s 4-Part Sci-Fi Dystopian Nightmare Has Vanished From Streaming Charts

Published

on

Steve Zahn and Rebecca Ferguson look concerned at something off-camera in the Silo Season 2 finale.

For a while there, Silo felt basically untouchable on Apple TV. The show built a loyal audience, kept people theorizing between episodes, and turned its huge underground mystery into one of the platform’s most reliable conversation starters. That’s why its latest chart slide stands out. It’s not that the series has disappeared overnight, but compared to where it usually sits in Apple’s ecosystem, Silo is clearly having a quieter moment.

FlixPatrol’s latest figures show Silo sitting outside the top tier of Apple TV’s current worldwide attention cycle, with the title page showing it at No. 15 in recent Apple TV rankings and its current chart footprint looking much lighter than the show’s previous highs. In individual country charts, it’s still showing up, but it’s no longer dominating the way it did during its hotter runs.

That doesn’t mean the appetite has vanished. If anything, it probably says more about how crowded Apple TV is getting at the moment, with titles like Your Friends & Neighbors and Monarch: Legacy of Monsters currently pulling more immediate attention. Still, when you’re talking about a series led by Rebecca Ferguson and built around one of TV’s best dystopian hooks, even a temporary chart cool-down is worth clocking. Silo has already proven it can bounce back before, and this probably won’t be the last time it claws its way up again.

Your Fate Has Been Calculated
You’d Survive In…

Your answers point to the world your instincts were built for. This is the universe your temperament, your survival instincts, and your particular brand of stubbornness were made for.

The Resistance, Zion

The Matrix

You took the red pill a long time ago — probably before anyone offered it to you. You’re a systems thinker who can’t help but notice the seams in things.

  • You’re drawn to understanding how the system works before figuring out how to break it.
  • You’d find the Resistance, or it would find you — your instinct for spotting constructed realities is the machines’ worst nightmare.
  • You function best when you have access to information and the freedom to act on it.
  • The Matrix built an airtight prison. You’d be the one probing the walls for the door.

The Wasteland

Mad Max

The wasteland doesn’t reward the clever or the well-connected — it rewards those who are hard to kill and harder to break. That’s you.

  • You don’t need comfort, community, or a cause larger than the next horizon.
  • You need a vehicle, a clear threat, and enough fuel to outrun it — and you’re good at all three.
  • You are unsentimental enough to survive that world, and decent enough — just barely — to be something more than another raider.
  • In the wasteland, that distinction is everything.

Los Angeles, 2049

Blade Runner

You’d survive here because you know how to exist in moral grey areas without losing yourself completely.

  • You read people accurately, keep your circle small, and ask the questions others prefer not to answer.
  • In a city where humanity is a legal designation rather than a feeling, you hold onto something that keeps you functional.
  • You’re not a hero. But you’re not lost, either.
  • In Blade Runner’s world, that distinction is everything.

Arrakis

Dune

Arrakis is the most hostile environment in the known universe — and you are precisely the kind of person it rewards.

  • Patience, discipline, and political awareness are your core strengths — and on Arrakis, they’re survival tools.
  • You understand that the long game matters more than any single victory.
  • Others come to Dune and are consumed by it. You’d learn its logic and earn its respect.
  • In time, you wouldn’t just survive Arrakis — you’d begin to reshape it.

A Galaxy Far, Far Away

Star Wars

The galaxy far, far away is vast, loud, and in a constant state of violent political upheaval — and you wouldn’t have it any other way.

  • You find meaning in being part of something larger than yourself — a cause, a crew, a rebellion.
  • You’d gravitate toward the Rebellion, or the fringes, or whatever pocket of the galaxy still believes the Empire’s grip can be broken.
  • You fight — not because you have to, but because standing aside isn’t something you’re capable of.
  • In Star Wars, that willingness is what makes all the difference.

How Good Is ‘Silo’?

Collider’s Tania Hussain awarded the second season an 8/10, praising its “uniquely immersive environment” and “razor-sharp writing,” adding that “by grounding its Orwellian elements into tense yet relatable human struggles, Silo continues to surpass the genre… emerging as a masterful exploration of isolation and survival through Ferguson’s nuanced portrayal.” She wrote:

“With its 10 episodes this season, the Silo world is truly expanding and the supporting performances amplify so much of the stakes. Exemplifying a sad and almost heartwrenching portrayal of loneliness with a childlike wonder, Steve Zahn is at his absolute best in a barren playground where his character, Solo, creates the rules. It’s the chemistry he shares with Ferguson that creates a dynamic sort of interplay that contrasts her serious demeanor with a spirited and lively approach. He is every bit a compelling counterpart to Juliette, and one we see most terrifically evolve across the series.”

Silo Seasons 1 and 2 are streaming now on Apple TV, while Season 3 is awaiting release. Stay tuned to Collider for more streaming updates.
