Virgin River’s Stewart McLean Found Dead After Disappearance
Virgin River actor Stewart McLean has been found dead.
The discovery of McLean’s remains comes one day after the Royal Canadian Mounted Police announced the missing actor’s disappearance had become a potential homicide investigation. He was 45.
According to a press release shared with People by Canada’s Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) on Friday, May 22, McLean’s remains were found in the Lions Bay area following his disappearance.
McClean’s death was confirmed by Lucas Talent Inc. via a statement shared by talent agent Jodi Caplan on Facebook on Friday.
“It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our beloved client, Stew McLean,” the statement read. “I was fortunate to have worked with Stew for more than 10 years.”
Caplan reflected on what a “great guy” McLean was, looking back on their working relationship fondly.
“He was always such a pleasure to deal with — dedicated, professional, eager, and endlessly funny,” the post continued. “Many casting directors have reached out to share their condolences with Stew’s family and with our agency, and every message says the same thing: what a truly great guy he was, and how deeply he will be missed. Rest in peace, Stew. xo”
Us Weekly has reached out to Canada’s Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) for comment.
The Squamish RCMP received a missing person regarding McLean on Monday, May 18, after he was last seen on May 15 at his home in Lions Bay, British Columbia, Canada.
The RCMP first asked for public assistance in locating McLean on Tuesday, May 19, and the Lions Bays Search and Rescue led the initial search for him as a missing person.
The case was initially treated as a missing persons case. On Thursday, May 21, it was announced that the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team took over the search for McLean and authorities now believe he may be a homicide victim.
“On May 20, IHIT deployed and assumed conduct of the investigation,” a press release shared on May 21 read. “Squamish RCMP continues to work closely with IHIT and the Integrated Forensic Identification Service (IFIS) to advance the investigation. Squamish RCMP initiated an investigation and, through investigative efforts, uncovered evidence that led investigators to believe Mr. McLean was victim of homicide.”
As well as Virgin River, McLean was known for roles in Murder in a Small Town, Happy Face, and Arrow.
Authorities are asking that anyone with information regarding McLean or the investigation call the IHIT information line at 1-877-551-IHIT (4448) or by email at ihitinfo@rcmp–grc.gc.ca.

Demi Moore Has A ‘Roster’ Of Men She Can ‘Call On’ At 63
Demi Moore is embarking on a confident and fulfilling new chapter in her life, striking a balance between personal freedom, family, and continued career success.
The 63-year-old actress, who has not been publicly linked to a partner since 2022, is reportedly enjoying a social dating life while prioritizing independence.
In recent interviews and appearances, Demi Moore has also opened up about aging, while turning heads with a striking new, shorter hairstyle at Cannes and other fashion events.

Demi Moore has not been publicly linked to a new partner since her 2022 split from Swiss chef Daniel Humm, but sources say the actress has still been enjoying an active and social romantic life.
An insider claims the 63-year-old “Substance” star remains drawn to “very attractive men in their thirties and early forties,” and “has no problem reeling them in.”
According to the source, Moore enjoys the confidence and visibility she has in this stage of life and takes a selective approach to dating, preferring companionship without pressure or long-term expectations.
“It takes her time to vet a guy, but when she finds one she likes, she tends to keep him around, so she’s now got a little roster … she can call on when she’s in the mood,” they added about Moore, per Star Magazine.
The Actress’ Already Has All The Companionship She Could Ever Want’ In Her Family And Friends

Moore has been married three times. First to musician Freddy Moore, then to movie star Bruce Willis, with whom she had three daughters, Rumer, Scout, and Tallulah, before their divorce in 2000.
She went on to have an eight-year marriage with Ashton Kutcher, which eventually ended in divorce in 2013.
Speaking more about Moore’s mindset on men and romance, the source noted that she no longer seeks “partner” as she “has all the companionship she could ever want in her life between her daughters and her friends.”
“[Moore] doesn’t need a partner. She needs lovers, so that’s what she’s got,” they continued, adding, “She jokes it’s one of her anti-aging secrets!”
Demi Moore Celebrates Career Highs And Personal Fulfillment

In recent interviews, Moore has shifted focus toward personal fulfillment, family, and self-acceptance.
In a 2025 appearance on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” the 63-year-old actress celebrated a successful year that included her performance in “The Substance,” her role in “Landman,” and being named one of Glamour’s Women of the Year.
She described this period as deeply fulfilling, adding that getting older has expanded rather than diminished her sense of joy and purpose.
“I just feel like this is an amazing time, and anybody who thinks that getting older means life is less is sadly mistaken,” she said.
Moore has also spoken candidly about aging during the press tour for “The Substance,” a film exploring youth, beauty, and identity.
The actress said she has worked through years of self-criticism and now approaches herself with greater acceptance and a positive mindset about getting older.
The Golden Globe Winner Reflects On Self-Acceptance And Embracing A New Chapter Of Life

At the Gotham Awards, Moore reflected on this shift, explaining that she now sees herself more fully rather than through appearance alone.
She also emphasized how her perspective on life has softened with time, allowing her to appreciate herself with more kindness.
“I see myself and the fullness of who I am as opposed to just the external idea of who I am,” she explained.
In a 2024 appearance on “Today,” Moore also highlighted how meaningful it has been to watch her daughters, Rumer, Scout, and Tallulah, grow into adulthood, describing this stage of life as one of independence and freedom.
She said she feels excited to continue redefining her path, even if she doesn’t yet know exactly where it will lead.
“We are what the future is for women, and I look at having my daughters, and I don’t want [it] to ever be in their minds that there is an end,” the actress stated.
Demi Moore Debuts Short Hair Transformation At Cannes Film Festival In Glamorous Red Carpet Look

More recently, Moore made a striking appearance at the premiere of “La Bola Negra” during the 79th Cannes Film Festival on May 21, debuting a noticeably shorter hairstyle that marked a fresh shift from her signature long locks.
The 63-year-old actress wore a floor-length sapphire blue gown featuring an oversized bow detail and a subtle train, designed by Self-Portrait under creative director Han Chong and crafted in the label’s London atelier. She completed the look with a bold statement necklace and black sling-back heels.
According to People Magazine, what drew even more attention was her new shoulder-length lob, styled in soft, voluminous curls with a side part, giving her a modern, elegant update for the red carpet.
This isn’t the first time Moore has surprised fans with a shorter look. Earlier in the year at Milan Fashion Week, she appeared at Gucci’s FW26 show with a sleek wet-look bob, created by celebrity hairstylist Dimitris Giannetos, who nicknamed the style the “Demi-tris Bob.”

‘SNL UK’ Is Already Fixing the American Show’s Most Exhausting Problem
Saturday Night Live UK has quickly become one of the most closely watched developments in British television comedy and that’s not just by audiences. The brains behind the original SNL and its 50+ years of success, Lorne Michaels, works in close collaboration with SNL UK showrunner James Longman (The Late Late Show with James Corden) to make sure the British humor is supported by the US format.
During a conversation between IndieWire and documentary filmmaker Morgan Neville, who recently directed Lorne, there was one key note that Michaels gave to Longman about SNL UK. Michaels suggested that one large-scale set should be rebuilt to bring performers closer to the audience in the room. He understands which parts of SNL should evolve for audiences in the UK but also which parts still require his experience and instincts. So while SNL UK is clearly connecting with British audiences with its humor, it needs to fully embrace and prioritize Lorne Michael’s format and the importance of crowd proximity.
‘SNL’ As An Audience-Driven Show and ‘SNL UK’ Should Embrace Its Crowd
Lorne Michaels sees SNL as an audience-driven show, and it succeeds when it fully embraces the crowd. His note on stage geography reflects his belief that proximity directly affects how sketches land — if live reaction is prioritized, then jokes land harder at home. SNL UK’s Weekend Update pushes for laughter in the room. Paddy Young delivered his headlines with a knowing smirk after each line. Performance-first comedy continues into the sketches themselves, especially through West End performer Annabel Marlow, who joined Hannah Waddingham in Episode 7 to sing about everything from the dangers of drinking too much wine to being a divorced drama teacher. Al Nash even did a Footlocker-themed version of The Phantom of the Opera!
The 10 Best Sketches From ‘Saturday Night Live UK’ Season 1, Ranked
Stamped with Tina Fey’s approval.
This stage-first approach also appears in the way the host’s monologues have broken the boundary between performer and audience. Aimee Lou Wood gave spiritual readings to the crowd, claiming they once lived as either a dog or the Pope until an actual dog appeared and was crowned as Pablo Escobar reincarnated! These moments are built around staging and delivery as much as writing, reinforcing Lorne Michaels’ belief that SNL is best when designed outward to a live studio audience first.
There is a broader contrast at play here. British comedy television has been dominated for decades by panel shows and controlled studio formats. Programmes like Have I Got News For You and Would I Lie to You? have fixed structures where comedians operate within rules rather than perform. Even live shows like The Last Leg operate within a controlled environment, with presenters sitting in fixed positions and comedy delivered through remarks. The majority of British comedy TV shows are designed to be rerun across channels indefinitely, so they hinge on familiarity, stability, and ease of repackaging. Yet with SNL UK’s focus on performance, Lorne Michaels has brought risk and unpredictability, which has suddenly made British television comedy exciting again.
SNL UK Works So Well Due To Combining British Humor With Michael’s Trusted Format
SNL UK succeeds because it combines British humor and creative freedom with Lorne Michaels’ established format. He has allowed the UK team, led by Longman, to develop material that is deeply rooted in British culture and references. From the ZARA changing rooms to Enid Blyton, the UK humor has not been adapted for international appeal and has been allowed to remain specific. At the same time, Michaels remains closely involved with the production. Longman has described regular communication, including calls multiple times a week, texts, and notes. According to Longman in IndieWire, Michaels has said on occasion that he would not have approached some sketches in the same way, but still acknowledged when they worked. There seems to be a working relationship where the format is protected, but the execution is flexible.
In the US version, writers and cast traditionally gather in Michaels’ office to develop ideas with the host. In the UK, Longman has adapted this process so that the host comes into the writers’ room and ideas are developed more collaboratively. The writing schedule is also more flexible in the UK. While the US version is known for its intense Tuesday night writing sessions that can run overnight, the UK production allows writers to work in different ways. Some work late, others do not, and there is no expectation of staying through the night. Longman has emphasized that everyone has a different creative process, and flexibility is key.
‘SNL UK’s Ratings Dip May Be the First Sign It’s Becoming Just Like the OG ‘Saturday Night Live’
Saturdays on freeview channels are bland and boring, long live SNL UK.
The famous table read process also differs slightly. In the UK version, it takes place earlier in the day on Wednesday, and the overall selection process typically involves around 30 to 35 sketches being developed, with roughly eight selected for the live show, including filmed pieces. These adjustments reflect a production model that is still finding its rhythm while staying aligned with the core SNL structure. Importantly, Michaels’ influence remains present in how the format is protected. He understands what makes SNL function as a system, particularly around live performance structure, while allowing British writers and performers to shape the humor itself.
SNL UK’s success is not based on simply importing an American format into British television, but on combining two different systems in a deliberate way. Michaels’ biggest note — bringing sets closer to the audience — is a reminder that SNL depends on its live audience, crowd proximity, and performance energy as much as it depends on writing. By combining Michaels’ structural instincts with British comedic voices, SNL UK has created a version of sketch comedy that feels immediate and fresh, and importantly places performance back at the center of British television comedy.

Matt Lauria Addresses Possible Plans for Kingdom Reunion
Matt Lauria addressed the chances of a Kingdom reunion despite him being booked and busy with Sheriff Country.
“What would it take to get me to do another to do more Kingdom? It would take a phone call,” Lauria, 43, exclusively told Us Weekly. “That’s it.”
Lauria said he would reunite with his costars “in a heartbeat” — but there is one condition.
“Give me six weeks to try and get the six-pack back,” he joked. “I’m older than when we started. That was in 2014 so 12 years have gone by. But as far as I can tell, everybody’s still in shape and everybody is still very active. We could pull it off in a heartbeat.”
Kingdom, which aired from 2014 to 2017, was a gritty drama that followed a retired MMA fighter trying to keep his mixed martial arts gym afloat while managing the volatile lives and personal demons of his sons and his fighters. In addition to Lauria, the series starred Frank Grillo, Kiele Sanchez, Jonathan Tucker, Nick Jonas and Joanna Going.
“I ran into Byron Balasco, who’s now part of the CBS and Paramount family because he’s writing on one of the NCIS shows,” Lauria told Us about the reunion with Kingdom’s coshowrunner. “We kind of mumbled about a reunion and it doesn’t seem like anybody’s against it. It was one of the highlights of all of our careers — in terms of the experience we had.”

Lauria isn’t the only one with a passion for the show’s return. Grillo, 60, recently told Us he was just as ready to come back.
“Byron Balasco and Jonathan Tucker and I were just on a three-way [call],” Grillo shared in September 2025 “We were trying to figure out how we could possibly — I’m not kidding — put it together.”
The trio are looking to “come up with some ideas” and “get the band back together” to “see if we could finish an eight-episode run,” Grillo teased. “We actually talked about that.”
For now, Lauria is excited to keep filming Sheriff Country where he plays the lovable Boone.
“Boone is embracing Edgewater for all that it is,” he noted. “That’s been the central journey for Boone, and I think that’s also what allowed him to really explore internally and confront his feelings for Mickey. Because normally, that would be a hard line for him not to cross.”
He continued: “But then there’s a more human side to all of this. It matters because he’d seen Mickey time and time again take a human approach with people and have it bear fruit. That contributed in large part to Boone confronting his feelings about Mickey — only to get shot down.”
Lauria is holding out hope that the audience will learn even more about Boone in season 2, saying, “He kept a lot of things close to the vest — including a secret wife. I’d love to get into more about who this dude is.”
Sheriff Country is currently streaming on Paramount+.

Kim Kardashian Declines Inmate’s Legal Help Request
Kim Kardashian‘s involvement in criminal justice advocacy has made her a figure of interest in high-profile legal cases over the years. In newly surfaced jailhouse calls, Mackenzie Shirilla, who was convicted of murder and was the subject of the Netflix documentary “The Crash,” expressed her desire to have the aspiring lawyer take on her case.
Kardashian began her advocacy sometime in 2017 and has successfully helped in freeing several non-violent and first-time offenders who were given harsh sentences.

In 2022, Mackenzie Shirilla was charged with the murder of her boyfriend, Dominic Russo, and their friend, Davion Flanagan. Shirilla was behind the wheel, driving at 100 mph, when she drove directly into a brick building, killing the two passengers. Her case is the focus of the Netflix documentary “The Crash,” released on May 15.
PEOPLE obtained an undated jailhouse call between Shirilla and an unnamed individual, in which they were discussing the possibility of Kim Kardashian hearing about her high-profile case. “Well, maybe Kim Kardashian’s seen,” Shirilla said. The individual agreed, saying that Kardashian knowing Shirilla’s case is the only good thing about the media circus.
“You have to figure out because I’m real nervous and I want Kim Kardashian to be my lawyer,” Shirilla stated, later adding, “Tell her I buy all her SKIMS and I only wear SKIMS.”
The Reality Star Doesn’t Want Anything To Do With The Case

Kardashian is an aspiring lawyer, but she has yet to pass the California Bar Exam. She has helped free several inmates through her advocacy work, but according to a report from TMZ, she isn’t interested in Shirilla’s case.
A source close to the reality star said that Kardashian lends her support to inmates who have shown that they have been rehabilitated, and also those who she believes were wrongfully convicted or have been given excessive sentences and deserve a second chance. Shirilla’s case, per the insider, doesn’t align with her advocacy.
Mackenzie Shirilla Was Convicted Of Murder
In 2022, 17-year-old Shirilla was with 20-year-old Russo and 19-year-old Flanagan, driving home from a graduation party they attended. As seen in video footage, Shirilla suddenly accelerated after turning down a road, driving directly into a brick building. Both Russo and Flanagan were killed in an instant, and Shirilla was left with grave injuries.
Prosecutors in the case argued the teen intentionally crashed the car, citing her failing relationship with Russo. Shirilla’s defense argued that she had POTS, a condition that causes rapid heart rate spikes and brief blackouts. However, the evidence showed the teen’s foot was pressed on the accelerator seconds before the impact.
At a bench trial, a judge found Shirilla guilty of 12 felony counts, including murder, felonious assault, and aggravated vehicular homicide. She was sentenced to two concurrent life sentences with the possibility of parole after 15 years. Her legal team is actively fighting her conviction.
Kim Kardashian’s Criminal Justice Advocacy
Alice Marie Johnson, in a desperate attempt to provide for her family, got involved in a drug trafficking organization as a mule, relaying messages between sellers and distributors. She was convicted of drug conspiracy and money laundering in 1996 and was sentenced to life in prison without parole.
Kardashian got legal representation to take over Johnson’s case and personally lobbied for the inmate’s clemency. Johnson was released from prison in 2018 and was later granted a full pardon.
By 2019, Fox reported that the businesswoman had helped free 17 inmates from prison through her advocacy efforts, funding projects and supporting campaigns quietly.
“Once I saw that I was able to make a difference, I couldn’t stop there, and I realized there were so many other people to help,” Kardashian said at a TIME 100 Summit in 2023.
The SKIMS Mogul’s Law Journey

In 2018, Kardashian began her journey into law by becoming a legal apprentice under California’s Law Office Study Program. The reality star passed the “Baby Bar,” the first-year law students’ examination, in 2021 after her fourth attempt.
Kardashian completed her law apprenticeship in 2025 and subsequently took the California Bar Exam, but she didn’t receive a passing score. The exam is notoriously difficult, having one of the lowest pass rates in the country.
As The Blast previously reported, Kardashian will not be taking the California Bar Exam in 2026. She will instead focus on her professional commitments and try again next year.

Niall Horan Appears To Honor Liam Payne In Emotional New Song
Niall Horan is reflecting on heartbreak, grief, and the end of an unforgettable chapter, and many fans believe Liam Payne is at the center of it all. The former One Direction singer released his emotional new track, “End of an Era,” on Friday, with lyrics that appear to reference both the close bond he shared with his late bandmate and the painful reality of losing him. The song arrives less than two years after Payne’s shocking death at age 31 and just weeks after new developments emerged in the ongoing investigation into the tragedy.

In “End of an Era,” Horan seemingly reflects on friendship, memories, and the passage of time in lyrics that many listeners believe are tied to Payne. “We had it, pure magic / Remember what it was like / Time passes so fast that / I couldn’t tell you goodbye,” Horan sings in the opening verse.
The emotional track continues with the singer looking back on younger days and how quickly life can change. “Careless times, yeah, we sure had some / Naïve eyes, yeah, we sure looked young / Tears fall down like the future comes / Slowly, then all at once.”
In the chorus, Horan leans into the emotional weight of moving forward after loss. “Feels like letting go of / Things we’re not supposed to / One breath and it’s over / The end of an era.”
While Horan has not explicitly confirmed the song is about Payne, fans were quick to connect the emotional lyrics to the late singer’s passing.
Liam Payne Died At 31 After Tragic Fall In Argentina

Payne died in October 2024 at age 31 after falling from a third-floor balcony at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina. According to a post-mortem report, the singer died from multiple traumas and “internal and external hemorrhage” following the fall.
In February, an Argentine court dropped criminal negligence charges against three of the five individuals who had originally been charged in connection with Payne’s death. The former One Direction singer had gone on to launch a successful solo career after the group’s hiatus, releasing his debut solo album, “LP1,” in 2019.
Niall Horan Previously Opened Up About Losing Liam Payne

Following Payne’s death, Horan shared an emotional tribute on Instagram, admitting the devastating loss “just doesn’t feel real.”
“Liam had an energy for life and a passion for work that was infectious. He was the brightest in every room and always made everyone feel happy and secure,” Horan wrote. “All the laughs we had over the years, sometimes about the simplest of things, keep coming to mind through the sadness. We got to live out our wildest dreams together and I will cherish every moment we had forever. The bond and friendship we had doesn’t happen often in a lifetime.”
Niall Horan Shared Final Memory With Liam Payne

Horan also opened up about the final time he saw Payne, revealing the pair spent time together just days before the tragedy. “It was great. [He] seemed in good form and we had a good laugh, good reminisce,” Horan said.
The singer recalled learning about Payne’s death while at home watching television. “I just remember getting a message. And I was just like, ‘What?’… I just didn’t think it was real,” he said. “Someone so young, you’re not expecting to hear that they’ve passed, especially someone that you’ve just seen. I just went back from shock to sadness to anger.”
Liam Payne Death Investigation Is Still Ongoing

The release of Horan’s emotional song comes just weeks after new updates surfaced regarding the investigation into Payne’s death. Earlier this month, the BBC reported that a coroner is still awaiting additional evidence from Argentina as authorities continue investigating the circumstances surrounding the singer’s fatal fall.
Senior coroner Crispin Butler said there had been no updates since January 2025 and revealed officials are still seeking full reports and eyewitness statements. “We have had no further disclosure of evidence from Argentina via the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office,” Butler said.
The inquest into Payne’s death has now been adjourned until another pre-inquest review scheduled for December 1, as investigators continue gathering information.

20 Years Later, These 10 Movies Deserve a Sequel
From the year’s Best Picture Oscar winner, The Departed, to cult classics like The Devil Wears Prada, 2006 was an exceptional year for movies. With the recent release and overwhelming box office and critical success of The Devil Wears Prada 2, it becomes inevitable to ponder a certain question: are there any other films from 2006 that deserve a sequel all these many years later?
Of course, it’s rather unlikely that most of these ten films will actually get a sequel, and whether that hypothetical sequel would be able to stick the landing remains a separate question entirely; but for the fun of pure speculation, 2006 is one of the best years to look back on as a fountain of endless sequel potential. From comedies to animated family movies to political satires, these films would make a lot of people happy if they received a follow-up.
‘Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby’
Considering that he’s probably the most universally beloved filmmaker currently working in Hollywood, an endorsement from Christopher Nolan means an awful lot. The director has praised Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby in the past, which automatically makes this one of the best comedies of the 2000s.
Here’s the thing about a potential Talladega Nights sequel: here we have a movie that is very much the product of its time, as this sort of absurd comedy that was a staple of the 2000s isn’t really seen all that often nowadays. Even so, a sequel that expanded the original’s themes of hubris and personal redemption by following an aging Ricky being replaced by younger drivers in a more corporatized NASCAR does sound irresistibly tempting.
‘Monster House’
Though it’s definitely sprinkled with elements of comedy, Monster House is a horror movie for kids through and through, making it a phenomenal introduction to the genre for the little ones of the family. The movie’s story came full circle in an entirely satisfying way, but the concept of architecture being haunted by people’s trauma opens the door to all sorts of interesting premises.
The best kind of sequel that Monster House could possibly get would be a spiritual one. Perhaps it could be an entire school that becomes haunted this time, much more directly approaching the coming-of-age genre with an expanded scope and a bigger ensemble. Hollywood hasn’t really gone back to motion-capture animated films since Disney’s Mars Needs Moms flopped. Could a Monster House sequel be the perfect excuse to show what the technology can do in 2026?
‘Click’
You never know what you’re going to get with Adam Sandler. It’s every bit as likely that you’ll get a Ridiculous 6 or a Hubie Halloween as it is that you’ll get an Uncut Gems or a Jay Kelly. And then there’s Click, which sits comfortably somewhere in the middle. It’s one of Sandler’s most mysteriously beloved movies, a bit of a cult classic that people love due to its unique blend of comedy and dramatic moments.
This is another case of a film whose main character’s story was so well-rounded that we don’t really need to see him again, but it’s a gimmick too clever to pass up for a potential spiritual sequel. A Click follow-up without Adam Sandler may sound like a silly idea, but if you get a good dramedy director and give him this reality-controlling remote as the center of this narrative, they could do some really interesting things with that premise.
‘The Departed’
After nearly forty years of his career, Martin Scorsese finally made his way to a Best Director Academy Award for a masterpiece that also won Best Picture: The Departed, a remake of the iconic Hong Kong crime drama Infernal Affairs. It’s one of the most intense gangster movies ever made, a complete reinvention of the genre formula that Scorsese had practically invented.
There are definitely differences between Infernal Affairs and The Departed, with Scorsese’s modern classic being almost an hour longer, but the fact that the Hong Kong original has not just one, but two sequels, shows that there’s potential here for a bigger story. At first glance, it seems like the story of The Departed is closed. However, what’s left behind by the time the credits roll is a fundamentally corrupt police system and no clear-cut heroes left, establishing the foundations for another cat-and-mouse game that’s just as enthralling as the first.
‘The Prestige’
Thanks exclusively to his Dark Knight trilogy, Sir Christopher Nolan is no stranger to sequels, but he’s never really made one for any other of his movies, and The Prestige doesn’t seem any likelier. That’s probably for the better, but if we’re talking about movies that deserve a sequel 20 years later, this one definitely has to be way up there.
For people who love thrillers packed with plot twists, this one’s a must-see—and its sequel would likely be just as great. The self-contained rivalry between Alfred Borden and Robert Angier is one that doesn’t really need a sequel. But Tesla’s machine? There absolutely is a story there. Though the role of Tesla himself would likely not have the same kind of magic that he had by being played by David Bowie in The Prestige, the steampunk world of the film is one that’s simply too fascinating to happily leave behind.
‘Over the Hedge’
DreamWorks Animation is a studio that’s gone through its fair share of ups and downs over the years, delivering duds just as often as they deliver undeniable masterpieces of the medium. Every now and then, too, they deliver movies that are great yet end up slipping under people’s radars as the years pass. Over the Hedge is one such film, one of those near-perfect family movies that nobody remembers anymore.
There’s a ton of commentary to potentially make on 2020s hyper-consumerism and environmental collapse.
The 2006 original does what DreamWorks did best during the 2000s: satire. Over the Hedge is suburban satire at its family-friendly best, but the American suburbs have changed plenty since 2006. There’s a ton of commentary to potentially make on 2020s hyper-consumerism and environmental collapse (animals fighting the construction of an AI data center, anyone?). This gang of characters is one so fun and vibrant that it would be criminal for DreamWorks not to revisit them again.
‘The Holiday’
Though it wasn’t particularly well-received by critics back in 2006, Nancy Meyers‘ The Holiday was well-received by audiences. Two decades later, it’s one of the most beloved rom-coms of its era and an outright gem for an entire generation. It’s sweet, moving, well-acted, and though it may not be the most unpredictable romantic film ever, the kind of formula that it follows is a tried-and-true one that still works.
It’s one of Jack Black‘s best comedy movies, and after the travesty that was A Minecraft Movie, the world deserves more high-quality Jack Black comedies. A sequel to The Holiday could explore whether these cross-continental relationships actually lasted—and if so, how. It could be an exploration of life after your classic ol’ rom-com ending, and it could also bring Nancy Meyers back to the world, since the filmmaker hasn’t made a feature since 2015.
‘Nacho Libre’
Speaking of beloved Jack Black comedies, it doesn’t get much more beloved than Nacho Libre. It’s (very) loosely based on the true story of Fray Tormenta, a Mexican Catholic priest who had a career as a masked professional wrestler, through which he supported the orphanage he directed. It’s tricky to make sequels to films based on true stories, but the wonderful thing about this cult classic is that there absolutely is a story here to tell.
The real Fray Tormenta retired from wrestling in 2011, but he still works at the orphanage as a priest and has inspired one of his children to take up his mantle, who goes by the name of Fray Tormenta Jr. Whereas the original Nacho Libre was a story about pursuing one’s passions in spite of any obstacles, a potential Nacho Libre 2 can be a tale about legacy and the way it shapes the life purpose of aging heroes like Fray Tormenta.
‘The Host’
Bong Joon Ho was already an internationally acclaimed filmmaker by the time he released his third-ever feature film, The Host. The Bong from 2006, however, would have likely not even dreamed that he would one day be Academy Award winner Bong Joon Ho. With the level of acclaim (and trust from Hollywood studios) that he holds now, it’s time for the director to revisit the world of this beloved creature feature.
The thing about The Host is that it’s more than just a creature feature: it’s a political satire critiquing foreign influence and governmental incompetence, themes that have evolved in such ways since 2006 that there’s a lot Bong could still explore there. Perhaps introducing new characters and a new mutation, a potential sequel to The Host could hold even higher stakes—and have much higher-quality CGI, while it’s at it.
‘Idiocracy’
It’s practically a running gag of the 2020s by this point that no longer does Idiocracy seem like a silly, over-the-top social satire, but rather like more of a documentary. It’s one of those sci-fi cult classics that are perfect throughout, and even though it has aged like fine wine as a prophetization of the anti-intellectualism, corporate dominance, and decline in critical thinking that plagues the modern day, there’s a lot that a sequel could do to expand and update those themes.
Star Luke Wilson has stated that he’s constantly pitching sequel ideas to director Mike Judge, but that an actual Idiocracy follow-up hasn’t yet materialized. It’s about time it did. A further exploration of how systems incentivize ignorance and how artificial intelligence has blurred the line between truth and fiction could make a potential Idiocracy 2 just as timely in the modern day as Idiocracy was back in 2006. If there’s one film from 20 years ago that desperately needs a sequel, it’s this one.

Harry Styles Spills Rare Tea On Losing His Virginity
Harry Styles has candidly shared a highly intimate milestone from his youth involving a classic alternative rock track.
The chart-topping musician surprised audiences by detailing exactly which song was playing during his first sexual encounter.
This unexpected revelation comes shortly after it was rumored that the singer and his partner, Zoë Kravitz, may be planning to get married during the winter.

The former boyband star, now 32 years old, made the personal confession while taking the stage at the prestigious Ivor Novello Awards on Thursday. He attended the celebrated ceremony to deliver a heartfelt introductory speech honoring legendary Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke.
In a video capturing the presentation that later surfaced on TikTok, the performer amused the star-studded crowd by looking back on his teenage years and his gradual discovery of the alternative rock band’s extensive catalog.
The pop icon extended his gratitude to an uncle who had burned numerous compact discs for his sister in an attempt to introduce her to unusual music, noting that he later rediscovered those tracks at parties and during quiet moments alone.
The crowd erupted into laughter when the musician suddenly admitted that he lost his virginity to the 1996 Radiohead B-side track “Talk Show Host.”
He jokingly specified, “I lost my virginity to ‘Talk Show Host.’ I lost my virginity to the intro of ‘Talk Show Host,’” per Daily Mail.
He further went on to describe the frontman’s catalog as a deeply emotional and almost religious experience that helped him understand the human condition.
The Musician Recently Poked Fun at Queer Baiting Allegations

The musician’s willingness to joke about his private life at major ceremonies is a pattern fans recognize, as he recently addressed other long-running public controversies with similar humor.
Hosting Saturday Night Live in March, the Grammy winner used his opening monologue to directly mock the queer-baiting accusations that have followed him since wrapping up his last tour in 2023.
Critics have long accused the pop icon of pandering to LGBTQ+ communities due to his gender-fluid fashion and his refusal to publicly label his sexuality. Addressing the studio audience, he joked, “Back then, people seemed to pay a lot of attention to the clothes I was wearing, and some people accused me of something called ‘queer-baiting.’”
The Blast reported that he then added, “But did it ever occur to you that… maybe you don’t know everything about me, dad?!” The bit concluded with him locking lips with performer Ben Marshall, shouting, “Now that’s queer-baiting!”
Harry Styles And Zoë Kravitz Are Reportedly Quietly Planning A Winter Wedding

While rumors about the performer’s personal choices continue to trend online, new reports suggest he is preparing to celebrate a major romantic milestone.
The Blast recently reported that the global hitmaker is reportedly planning a small wedding ceremony with his partner, Kravitz, in the United Kingdom around the Christmas season.
Instead of hosting a massive, star-studded event, the couple is reportedly actively leaning toward a very intimate gathering that will be attended only by their closest family members and loved ones. This private approach perfectly matches the understated nature of their relationship, which has managed to thrive away from constant media scrutiny despite their massive global fame.
What Niall Horan Said About Attending Harry Styles’ Wedding

The widespread anticipation surrounding Styles’ upcoming winter nuptials has naturally sparked intense curiosity regarding which of his famous peers will be in attendance.
However, fans hoping for a star-studded One Direction reunion will likely be disappointed by recent comments from one of his former bandmates.
According to The Blast, Irish singer Niall Horan recently addressed the swirling wedding rumors during a media appearance, confirming that he will not be joining the guest list.
During a guest appearance on a New Zealand radio show, the 32-year-old musician expressed his general excitement for the upcoming wedding season but clarified that his invitations are strictly for personal friends rather than former colleagues.
When the hosts playfully pressed for details about working with old acquaintances, Horan laughed off the implication and directly addressed his absence from the ceremony, adding that his hectic schedule and professional commitments are keeping him too busy to attend the high-profile celebration.
Zoë Kravitz Was Seen Bonding With Harry Styles’ Family

The confirmation that some former colleagues will skip the wedding has done little to slow down the bonding moments between Styles and Kravitz’s families.
The 37-year-old actress attended the opening night of Styles’ highly anticipated global tour at the Johan Cruijff Arena in Amsterdam on Saturday night, per The Blast.
Standing in the VIP section directly alongside the singer’s mother, Anne Twist, Kravitz was captured in fan-shot footage dancing and enthusiastically singing along to the artist’s twenty-song setlist.

Netflix Officially Says Goodbye to ‘The Bear’ Star’s Forgotten Chaotic Dramedy
The Safdie Brothers virtually invented a new genre with Good Time and Uncut Gems — the sweaty, anxiety-inducing character dramas with the sociopolitical heft of an Italian Neorealist movie and the emotional impact of a missed flight. More recently, Christopher Storer has built upon a similar aesthetic in one of the best shows of the last five years, FX’s The Bear. The show features Jeremy Allen White in a star-making turn, with Molly Gordon in a supporting role alongside several other standouts. Gordon’s participation is key because she also appeared in a very similar film that was released soon after Uncut Gems.
The movie in question is currently streaming on Netflix in the United States, but will leave the platform soon. It marked the directorial debut of Emma Seligman and featured Rachel Sennott in the lead role of a young woman who attends a shiva with her parents and runs into friends, family, and acquaintances. The movie serves as a great companion piece to one of those memorable flashback episodes of The Bear, where all the Berzattos get together and watch chaos ensue.
Here’s How Long You Have Left to Watch the Critically Acclaimed Dark Comedy on Netflix
We’re talking, of course, about Shiva Baby. The 78-minute comedy featured Fred Melamed, who memorably played a similar character in the Coen Brothers‘ underrated dark comedy A Serious Man. Shiva Baby was hailed as a breath of fresh air upon its release in 2020. It premiered digitally at the South by Southwest Film Festival before getting a limited theatrical release a year later in 2021. The film now holds a “Certified Fresh” 96% score on the aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, where the consensus reads, “A ruefully funny calling card for debuting director Emma Seligman, Shiva Baby transcends its sitcom setup with strong performances and satisfying insights.” Seligman went on to direct Bottoms, which featured Sennott alongside another The Bear cast member, Ayo Edebiri. In 2025, Sennott created and starred in the HBO comedy series I Love LA. You can watch Shiva Baby on Netflix, but only until June 7. Stay tuned to Collider for more updates.
