A PRE-FALL PURPLE EDIT

A PRE-FALL PURPLE EDIT

Purple is one of the *it* colors of the season. Somewhat surprisingly, it has been a bit harder to find it in new arrivals sections, which is a bit of a mystery to me. I decided to scour my twenty favorite sites to shop for the best purple pieces for pre-fall. I am absolutely smitten with these purple flats, these gloves that I just ordered, and this awesome oversized clutch that comes at an excellent price. And, iff you are ever looking for more color inspiration, I actually have several boards here organized for you. More purple picks below…

Wednesday’s Workwear Report: Rollneck Reversible Cardigan

Our daily workwear reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices.

I am totally delighted by the idea of this reversible rollneck cardigan from J.Crew. I haven’t tried it on in person yet, but the brand claims that it can be worn with the buttons in the front as a cardigan or flipped around as a regular sweater. As someone who wore a lot of J.Crew in the late ’90s/early 2000s, the familiar rollneck style feels like a fun dip into nostalgia, but the cable knit at the sides feels like a fun update.

From the reviews, it sounds like you might want to size up if you want something a little more roomy.

The sweater is $118 at J.Crew and comes in sizes XXS-3X and in four other colors.

Sales of note for 8/28:

September Forecast – Julia Berolzheimer

Published

September Forecast - Julia Berolzheimer

September is already looking to be a whirlwind of a month! We’ve had a handful of things happen that made us pivot for most of August. However, most of September has been planned out of months, so we’ve been expecting much of this big push. Right now we have about 10 different things happening with our home, packed kids schedules, a whole lot of travel and two collaborations coming together! Grateful and overwhelmed are coexisting permanently in my life right now. Here’s a look at my month again…

What We’re Doing

  • We are starting the month with a short but relaxing long weekend to Blackberry Mountain with some friends.
  • We’re going to fashion week! It’s been years since I’ve attended any of the fashion weeks and I am invigorated with excitement. I have a deep appreciation for the runway shows– getting to view the collections up close, seeing the vision behind the most creative minds who inspire what we wear, what we buy and how we define our style for the seasons ahead. I’m thrilled to share as much as I can! I’ll be attending NYFW and Paris Fashion Week at the end of the month.
  • I love seeing all of the fall collections come out. I’ve been saving pieces that have caught my eye since the fall/winter runways shows and recently shared my fall moodboard here on Trade Offs.
  • I somehow missed the memo years ago about the Throne of Glass series and am just now reading them. I finished Crown of Midnight last month and am now starting Heir of Fire.
  • I’ve been back in the gym last month weight lifting again after taking most of the summer off. It feels good to have sore muscles again!
  • We have two collections we’re shooting in Charleston this month– more sneak peeks coming in our private chat on Substack (we’ll also be posting our September ‘Ask Us Anything’ there, too).

What I’m Wearing

  • This purple shirt has been on repeat, as well as the skirt. See daily looks here, and here.
  • A bag that’s under $600, beautifully made, and I’ve been reaching for over and over. Vanessa Bruno knocked it out of the park with this suede fringe shoulder bag.
  • Not outdoors, but this sweater has been my go-to grab for that air conditioning chill.
  • This Ulla Johnson set (top & shorts) is so good irl.
  • I wear this grey tee all the time. It’s on the pricier side for a simple t-shirt, so I found a few good alternatives if you’re on the hunt. This one is half the price and has the same heathered-grey texture (also a brand I’m a big fan of), and this one is half the price of that!
  • I bought this Toteme printed scarf last year (worn here) and it’s back in stock! I plan on wearing it with a white tee and jeans for this in-between weather.
  • I’ll be re-wearing my favorite High Sport pants in purple and red. Sadly the purple is sold out, but Boden just came out with pants in a similar grape shade and they’re under $130.
  • I am praying for a dip in temperature so I can pull out these fringe jeans, even for just a morning!
  • I really love the most recent Staud collection and sat with it for a bit before impulse buying too many things. I ended up narrowing it down to this top, which I’m already styling a handful of ways in my head for different events this month.
  • These purple balloon pants are under $50 and one of my favorite Zara finds.
  • I really wanted this Chanel pullover that I had saved from the runway but opted for this very similar one for under $200.

Well, it is officially September! But also, how? This summer felt like a total blur. Our month stay in New York was so wonderful, but really made the season feel like it went by far too quickly. Now that we are starting to get into all things fall, many of my favorite brands are releasing their first pre-fall styles, and they are SO GOOD. Below are a few of my top picks…

BODEN // You know I am a Boden girl. I plan to share a few looks that I shot in NYC later this month, but first I want to highlight all of my new arrival picks while they are still in stock. I am bringing this fair isle sweater as well this one over to Scotland later this month. If you love argyle and plaid, you simply cannot miss this embellished sweater, this trench, and these pants. And, last but not least, at the top of my list, and currently on its way to me, is this unexpected ruffle neck coat!

TUCKERNUCK // This go-to retailer just dropped one of the most beautiful jacquards. I actually got a sneak peek of this style while I was visiting their corporate offices back in July. Guess what, it is even better in person! The pattern is available in this short coat, this long coat that I ordered, this dress, and this skirt! Also, do not sleep on this scarf that I am in love with and these earrings that I know I will wear a ton this season. I can’t resist a statement stud!

GUEST IN RESIDENCE // I fear that this brand is turning me into a full blown sweater fanatic. I fell hard for Guest In Residence last year via this piece, and good news, it is back in new colors! So far this season I have snagged this new bandana print work shirt in cashmere and this cool checked piece.

& OTHER STORIES // If you love purple then you will love these new arrivals. This jacket is divine and this bag is such a great color and price!

ASOS // ASOS new arrivals are always seem to be at the top of my wish list each month. My current faves are this top, this skirt, and this pillbox hat that is under $50!

ANN TAYLOR // Ann is having a moment. You all loved when I posted this skirt last month. Dare I say that their September drop is even better? I am currently loving this horsebit skirt, this chic blazer, this printed midi dress, and this cropped coat. I am looking forward to see how the brand continues to evolve!

ALEMAIS // Alemais is a splurgy worthy brand and their latest drop is their best of the year. Some notes: I would love to wear this to a formal event, I am obsessed with these ruffle pants, and this dress is so fun!

A few other odds and ends worth mentioning: This new bag shape already has me hooked, this coat is from a new brand relaunch, and I am desperately waiting for this clutch to launch!
