The Best Sweater Blazers for Women
This post may contain affiliate links and Corporette® may earn commissions for purchases made through links in this post. As an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases.

It’s been too long since we’ve gone on a Hunt for everyone’s favorite topper — the jardigan / sweater blazer / knit jacket. Readers, are you loving any recent purchases? Hunting for anything to replace a sweater blazer from a few years ago?
(We ALSO just rounded up the blazer shape we’re seeing everywhere for Fall 2026, which includes some sweater blazers that are the same shape.)
{related: do check out our regularly updated list of wardrobe essentials for work!}
At Corporette®, we’ve been covering professional women’s workwear since 2008, and have written hundreds of posts about comfortable office clothing and shoes, business casual wardrobes, and reader-favorite brands for wardrobe essentials. (We just did a big update to our guide to the best women’s suits!) Sweater blazers have long been one of our favorite recommendations for business casual offices and more conservative offices — they provide the comfort of a cardigan with enough structure to look polished at work.

Trendy Sweater Blazers in 2026
We’ll take a closer look at the best-selling sweater blazers that we’ve featured before below — but first let’s take a spin through stores to see what’s fresh in 2026.
If you’re looking for the very cutting edge of sweater blazer fashion, do check out this option from Vince and this option from Proenza Schouler.
J.Crew

J.Crew has been all over the map with the sweater blazer trend — they had longer, loose, open knit jackets maybe five years ago, and then they went all in on the sweater lady jacket trend. This one is still in their sweater lady jacket section, but to my eye it looks different. The fit is more shrunken, less boxy, and six buttons is totally on trend for 2026. (Buttonpalooza!) I like that there are only 2 patch pockets, too; this similar Boden cardigan sweater jacket looks very busy to my eye.
The J.Crew sweater is available in gray and black, sizes XXS-3X, for $228.
(On the flip side, if you want a more relaxed fit with fewer buttons, this Veronica Beard sweater is similar.)
Nic & Zoe

One of my favorite sweater blazers from 2019 or so was a Nic & Zoe one (still available on Amazon!) — but it’s nice to see that they’ve come out with a great looking one for 2026.
I like the gentle collar and the patch pockets, as well as the structured shoulders. The sweater blazer comes in 4 colors for $198, but select colors are marked down today during Nordstrom’s Saving Event. I also like that they come in regular and petite sizes!
Talbots

Ok, it may be a stretch to call anything from Talbots trendy — but I’m so happy to see that sweater jackets have returned. They had killer sweater jackets for years, and the last few times that I’ve looked they were all in the clearance section if they existed at all. But boom! Look! A new sweater blazer, available in four colors in regular, petite, plus, and plus-size petite sizes.
(They also have this on trend bomber sweater jacket!)
Another quality sweater from an old school brand: Lands’ End has this sweater blazer in four colors.
Grace Karin

If you’re looking for another option under $50, do check out this sweater blazer from Amazon seller Grace Karin (also one of the readers’ favorite Amazon sellers for workwear!). It comes in 11 colors, sizes S-XXL. If you want something available in more colors, take a look at this other Amazon seller.
Classic Sweater Blazers We Love
J.Crew Factory Sweater Blazer

I know readers have sung the praises of J.Crew Factory’s stylish sweater jackets for a few years now — and I’ve always liked the look of this structured schoolboy sweater blazer (pictured).
They have it in several colors right now in sizes XXS-3X and XXSP-XLP. NICE. (They also have a boxier, looser sweater jacket with 2 patch pockets that looks nice; all of JCF’s sweater jackets are 100% cotton.)
(Another great basic blazer shape in a knit: Quince’s knit blazer.)

Modern Citizen Eames Sweater

If you’re looking to elevate your look, consider this cotton-wool version from Modern Citizen. The architectural sleeves and slightly cinched waist provide something a little more exciting than your basic silhouette, and the cotton-wool blend looks like the perfect weight. Make it your new back-of-the chair go-to or save it for a special occasion.
The sweater is $168 at Modern Citizen (and Nordstrom!) and comes in sizes XS-1X. As of September 2026, it’s available in black, cream, heather brown, dark olive, and pistachio (pictured).
This sweater from Apiece Apart is similar, but $548.

M.M.LaFleur’s Jardigan

And of course, you can’t have a roundup without the O.G. jardigans — the M.M.LaFleur Woolf and Sant Ambroeus. They’ve always been huge hits with readers — and while sweater jackets have obviously been around forever, I’d argue that M.M.LaFleur’s jardigans really kicked off the modern sweater-jacket trend for workwear.
They’ve expanded their range of work clothes quite a bit over the years, and now offer longer sweater jackets, cropped sweater jackets, and more, as well as the original bestsellers. The Merritt, above, is one of the newer options.
You can find them in 5+ colors at MM.LaFleur (and sometimes at Nordstrom!) in sizes XXS-XXL.
(Note that they briefly came in sizes up to 3X, so keep an eye out on resale sites if you’re hunting.)
{related: investment/statement blazers}
State of Cotton NYC Beale Blazer

On the pricey side of things, State of Cotton has a lovely sweater blazer for $595.
The brand’s website has the pictured sweater jacket in two colors (XS-L), as well as the Merion, which looks like a really beautiful sweater lady jacket.
Jenni Kayne Cooper Cardigan

Jenni Kayne’s homepage notes that they “can’t keep this cardigan in stock,” and I can understand why – I love the structured, sweater jacket-y feel to it, as well as the nipped-in waist and slightly slouchy, wide arms. The wool/cashmere sweater comes in 3 colors for $525, in sizes XS-XXL.
(For a cute dupe, check out Quince.)
Readers, what are your favorite sweater jackets, jardigans, knit blazers, and more? (How would you define the wardrobe staple?) What do you think is the best sweater jacket for the office?
What Are Sweater Blazers?
Part of the problem with this lovely third piece is that stores never quite know what to call it, or where to put it. Some stores put these items with the blazers; others put them with the sweaters. (The answer, dear retailers, is PUT THEM IN ALL OF THEM, but apparently that is not the common practice.)
The other problem is the name — should they be called sweater blazers? Knit jackets? Sweater jackets? Knit blazers? Jacket cardigans? Jardigans?
For the sake of argument, let’s call it a sweater blazer….
For definitional purposes, a sweater blazer should…
- be able to be swapped for either a blazer or a cardigan in your wardrobe
- not have interior lining or stitching that might inhibit the comfort of wearing it
- be made from a substantial enough fabric that it has a bit of a structure on its own, but not be so thick (tweed, boiled wool) that it’s a boxy mess, or be so insubstantial that it’s gauzy
- be made from a fabric that feels more like a sweater (even if tightly knit) and less like a ponte, scuba, or twill
- (possibly) have more blazer-like details (patch pockets, shawl collars, a relatively substantial knit)
- not be a coatigan, duster, or kimono
Are Sweater Blazers Different From Lady Jackets?
My sense is that the “sweater lady jacket” or “lady sweater jacket” is a mash up of two things: the lady jacket, which I tend to associate as being a boxy, cropped third piece often in tweed — think Chanel — and the sweater blazers like the ones we’re rounding up here. Sometimes they also look like cardigans with a bit more heft.
Work Outfit Ideas with Sweater Blazers
Sweater blazers can serve two important purposes in your work outfits: they can make casual outfits more polished, and they can make stuffy, conservative outfits look more approachable and casual.
For example: an outfit of dark rinse denim, T-shirt, and sneakers can seem like it’s on the extreme casual side of “business casual” — but if you throw on a sweater jacket you’re adding some structure, as well as warmth. (You may want to swap those sneakers for loafers or boots to make the outfit even more polished, or swap the dark rinse denim for some comfortable but polished pull-on pants.)
On the flip side, let’s say you’re moving from a conservative law firm to a business casual position in-house. Your wardrobe may consist of conservative, structured clothes like sheath dresses, blouses, trousers, and more. You can still wear them with a nice blazer — but if you put on a sweater blazer instead, it makes the entire outfit feel a bit more casual.
One particular outfit idea that works with business casual as well as conservative offices: mixing a few colors of neutrals. For example, a navy sweater jacket, olive pants, and a black T-shirt or blouse. Or, a navy pair of pants (or jeans), a bright white T-shirt or blouse, and a cream/ivory/beige sweater jacket.
Other Favorite Jackets and Blazers to Wear as Separates
The Best Blazers
The Best Sweater Lady Jackets
Some of our latest favorite lady jackets for work in 2026 still include knit jackets such as those from ba&sh, MMLF, or Boden… but in general the style has gotten much more structured, closer to a Chanel-style jacket for work. On the budget side of things, check out J.Crew, Tuckernuck (XXS-XXXL), J.Crew Factory, and Ann Taylor… on the splurgey side check out L’Agence, Veronica Beard, St. John, and (of course!) Chanel.

The Best Cardigans
Sure, we all know what wardrobe essentials for work professional women are supposed to have in their closets, but if you’re buying one for the first time or replacing one you’ve worn into the ground, it can be a pain to find exactly the right incarnation in stores. In “The Hunt,” we search the stores for a basic item that every woman should have.

Coffee Break: Mokki Mini Bag
This post may contain affiliate links and Corporette® may earn commissions for purchases made through links in this post. As an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases.
Oooh: I love this unusual bag from Polene. The “sea foam” mint caught my eye first, but I wanted to post a more fall-appropriate color so I considered the linden, the olive, the red clay, and finally landed on this pretty “mist” version. (Ooh, the smoky green is also great!)
The company describes it as using “an ingenious assembly of thirty-six pieces of leather” to “showcase[] the art of folding.”
I like that there are multiple interior compartments, an adjustable shoulder strap, and feet (huzzah!).
The mini version of the bag (pictured) is $660 (and comes in 15 colors!), but there’s a larger version for $760.
Sales of note for 9/11:

Nia Long Wore a $2,400 Khaite Linen-Blend Maxi Dress to Receive Her Hollywood Walk of Fame Star
Nia Long received her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame surrounded by her family, including sons Massai and Kez, and colleagues Larenz Tate, Bill Bellamy, Mike Epps, and Terrence Howard.
For the occasion, Long wore a $2,400 Khaite Ria Linen-Blend Maxi Dress in ivory, featuring draped cap sleeves and a chunky gold chain necklace, paired with a fringed shoulder bag and black slingback mules.

But no one showed out quite like Snoop Dogg, who arrived in a jacket covered in Nia’s most iconic roles, adding a personal touch to the celebration.

Congratulations, Nia!

REGRETS AND REBUYS
I’m trying something new today! Sharing some of the items I own and would 100% rebuy as well as some of the pieces I regret purchasing. Oftentimes I am a bit hesitant to share a negative view on a product as products work differently for everyone. These are the items I bought but simply didn’t work for me. I always go in hoping to buy something and get a successful cost per wear., but sometimes it just doesn’t work. Hindsight is 20/20! On the flip side, I will often go in with low expectations, or buy something on a whim, and it completely blows me away. Don’t we all wish this for every purchase?
Of course, if something was low quality or poorly made I wouldn’t share it in the first place. So, none of those products will ever make these lists. Perhaps in the future I will share all of those items in a different format! If you love this new format please let me know and I will turn it into a monthly franchise.
REBUY
Let’s kick off with the items that I would absolutely rebuy in a heartbeat. You will see that I already have rebought many of the items on this list. It’s not surprising that so many of these items are also on my bestsellers list – you love them too! Here goes…
COLBY PANT
The Colby pant was an item that I was hesitant to buy at first. Is the quality really that much better than other, similar pants? The answer is a resounding YES. Satin is my favorite material in this style (duh, I own three pairs) but I also want to try the newly released wool option.

SAVETTE BAG
You are probably sick of seeing this bag. Too bad as I am not sick of carrying it! On my recent trip to Scotland I packed my Savette pochette in black and brown and they were perfect bags to mix and match with every single look I brought. These bags are easy to travel with and the perfect size to fit everything I need. They are sleek and non branded which makes them feel timeless. I am a huge fan of the brand and just bought this new bag!
PAST MIDNIGHT SUNGLASSES
Well, I might have to rebuy these because right now I cannot find them anywhere! These oversized, acetate sunglasses are my favorite sunnies purchase of 2026. They are incredible comfortable, fit my heart shaped face perfectly, and are a great price point for such a luxury feel.
PISTOLA PANT
If you follow me closely you have seen these pants A LOT. I own them in three colors, and lucky for you, they are on sale right now here only! I love the weight of the fabric, the crop length, and the fact that they are casual, utilitarian, and chic. Shop the entire range of colors here. Use BLAIR15 to get 15% off.
CASHMERE SWEATER
Honestly, I would rebuy everything I am wearing here. The bag, the jacket, the scarf (I did buy a new color this year), the sunglasses (I already highlighted above) and of course the sweater. I completely wore out the soles of these flats that I love so much and sadly they are sold out so I’m not able to provide a link. Okay, back to the sweater. It is the perfect slightly oversized fit, has a chunky gauge and a perfect crew neckline. I packed two of these on my last trip! Stay tuned as there are even more colors coming this year here.
LOEFFLER RANDALL SHOES
These flat slingbacks have been some of my favorite shoes to style this calendar year. LR keeps tempting me to buy more as they release new colors. I am head over heels in love with the newest blue!
REGRET
You are going to see a bit of a theme with the regrets here today, they are all fairly pricey pieces. This makes sense. When I purchase something that is on the expensive side I have higher expectations. I hope to get a lot of wear or use out of it! For beauty items in particular, I want them to really perform. Sadly the below items fell flat for me. Much of it came down to styling and how difficult I found it to wear them back to items already in my closet. I always try to envision how a product will fit into my existing wardrobe pieces, but sometimes I simply get it wrong.

TOD’S BAG
When I saw this bag I immediately fell in love. The actual make and size of the bag is great, however I found it hard to style. Initially I loved how colorful it was, but quickly realized that since I typically wear so many colorful non-solid outfits, it competed with a lot of my RTW and looked too busy.
CHANEL PEARL NECKLACE
I had been patiently waiting for a Chanel pearl necklace in good shape to pop up on the TRR. I was so excited when one did and immediately purchased it. Sadly it has been one of my least worn Chanel pieces. I can’t put my finger on why. Maybe it is just a bit too precious?!

AUGUSTINUS BADER RICH CREAM
So many creators raved about this cream. In the end it was too thick and rich for me and sadly caused my skin to get oily and break out. I find this formula to be very similar, but it agrees with my skin and is a fraction of the price!
MIU MIU SANDALS
I spotted these Miu Miu two toned sandals and thought they would be *the sandals* of the season. It turns out the two toned feature made them a bit harder to style and therefore the cost per wear didn’t add up for me. I do love the shape, fit and quality. Oftentimes I ended up reaching for a solid brown sandal over these. I wish these had been a simple, solid brown color instead!

RWB EARRINGS
I have mildly sensitive ears and unfortunately these earrings proved to be too heavy for me. I love them so much and I really tried to make them work. In the end I just couldn’t pull them off. Of course, I have been eyeing these from the same brand and might have to talk myself out of it.

AREA Spring/Summer 2027 Runway Review: Metallic Drama Takes Over NYFW
AREA closed out another electric season with its Spring/Summer 2027 runway show, and the brand’s signature maximalism was on full display. Think sculptural fringe in molded plastic tubing, liquid metal wrapped bodies, and hand-cut mirrored paillettes that moved like water with every step.
Standouts included a striking orange-and-white checkerboard fringe mini dress built from interlocking tubes, its blue-and-white counterpart in a dramatic asymmetric silhouette, and a series of looks constructed entirely from shredded silver foil-like strips, cascading from bodice to hem. A sheer black-and-silver sequined midi dress and a matching sheer skirt with a white ruffled bandeau top rounded out the collection’s play between hard structure and soft movement.

Creative direction came from AREA’s team, with styling by Emma Wyman, casting by SDCasts, hair by Joey George, and makeup by Dick Page. Michel Gaubert handled the show’s soundtrack.

The style inside was just as hot as what hit the runway, with guests bringing their own maximalist energy to the front row.
