The Growing Connection Between Nail Care, Self-Care Rituals, and Personal Wellness in 2026
The wellness industry has expanded far beyond gym memberships and green smoothies. In 2026, personal care routines that once seemed purely cosmetic are now recognized as meaningful contributors to mental health and emotional resilience. Nail care, in particular, has undergone a significant transformation. What was once a quick trip for a basic manicure has evolved into a deliberate wellness practice that combines artistry, relaxation, and self-expression in a single appointment.
Research from the Global Wellness Institute shows that the personal care segment of the wellness economy grew by 12% in 2025, reaching $955 billion worldwide. Much of that growth came from consumers seeking experiences that provide both aesthetic results and genuine stress relief. Nail salons that understand this shift have adapted their services, environments, and techniques to meet the demand for a more intentional, restorative experience.
Why Nail Care Has Become a Cornerstone of Modern Self-Care
The psychological benefits of regular grooming rituals are well documented. A 2025 study published in the Journal of Positive Psychology found that individuals who maintained consistent personal care routines reported 27% higher scores on measures of self-esteem and daily mood regulation compared to those who neglected these habits. Nail care ranks among the most accessible and immediate forms of self-care because the results are visible, the process is relaxing, and the time investment is reasonable for busy schedules.
The tactile nature of a professional manicure or pedicure activates the body’s parasympathetic nervous system, the same response triggered by massage therapy. Hand and foot massage, warm water soaks, and the focused attention of a skilled nail technician combine to create a genuine stress-reduction experience that extends well beyond the salon visit. For many clients, a regular nail appointment serves as a scheduled pause in an otherwise demanding week.
In Scottsdale, where the intersection of desert luxury and active outdoor living creates a culture that values both appearance and wellbeing, nail salons have become essential fixtures in the local wellness landscape. Pamprd Soul represents this evolution, offering an elevated salon experience that treats nail services as a form of personal care rather than a purely cosmetic transaction.
The Art and Science Behind Professional Nail Services
Modern nail artistry requires a combination of technical skill, product knowledge, and creative vision that rivals other beauty disciplines. Today’s nail technicians train extensively in nail health, product chemistry, and application techniques that ensure both beautiful results and the long-term integrity of the natural nail.
The shift toward healthier products has accelerated in recent years. Formaldehyde-free, vegan, and “10-free” polish formulations now dominate the professional market, reflecting consumer demand for services that look great without compromising nail health. Gel systems have evolved to offer improved flexibility and easier removal, addressing earlier concerns about brittleness and damage from prolonged gel use.
Nail art trends in 2026 reflect a broader cultural movement toward personal expression and individuality. Popular styles include:
- Minimalist line work and geometric designs for a polished, professional look
- Chrome and metallic finishes that shift color depending on lighting and angle
- Textured overlays incorporating fine materials for a three-dimensional effect
- Negative space designs that incorporate the natural nail into the pattern
- Custom color blending matched to seasonal wardrobes or personal preferences
- Wellness-inspired neutral palettes paired with strengthening treatments
The level of customization available today means that nail services can be tailored to reflect individual style, professional requirements, or special occasions with precision that was not possible even five years ago.
What Sets an Exceptional Nail Salon Apart from the Rest
The quality gap between average and exceptional nail salons has widened significantly as the industry matures. Consumers who prioritize both results and experience are learning to evaluate salons on criteria that go beyond price and convenience. Sanitation practices, product quality, technician training, and salon atmosphere all play critical roles in the overall service experience.
Hygiene standards represent the most important differentiator. Top-tier salons implement hospital-grade sterilization protocols for all reusable tools, use disposable implements where appropriate, and maintain transparent cleaning procedures that clients can observe. The Arizona State Board of Cosmetology requires specific sanitation practices, but the best salons exceed these minimums by a significant margin.
Technician expertise is equally important. Skilled nail professionals can assess nail health, recommend appropriate services based on individual nail conditions, and execute complex designs with consistency. They understand how different products interact with various nail types and can adjust their approach to deliver optimal results for each client. Scottsdale’s leading nail artistry studios invest heavily in ongoing training to keep their teams current with evolving techniques and product innovations.
The physical environment of the salon contributes directly to the wellness benefits of the visit. Thoughtful design elements like comfortable seating, calming color palettes, quality ventilation systems, and curated music selections transform a routine appointment into a genuinely restorative experience.
Building a Sustainable Self-Care Routine That Includes Nail Health
Consistency matters more than intensity when it comes to self-care practices that deliver lasting benefits. A regular nail care schedule, whether biweekly manicures or monthly pedicures, creates a reliable touchpoint for relaxation and personal attention that helps maintain emotional balance over time.
Between salon visits, simple at-home maintenance extends the life of professional services and supports overall nail health. Cuticle oil applied daily keeps the nail bed hydrated and promotes stronger growth. Wearing gloves during household cleaning protects polish and prevents chemical exposure that weakens natural nails. Keeping nails at a manageable length reduces the risk of breakage and makes everyday tasks more comfortable.
The financial investment in regular nail care is often more modest than people assume. When compared to other wellness expenditures like fitness classes, skincare products, or spa treatments, a consistent nail care routine delivers visible, confidence-boosting results at a competitive price point. The key is finding a salon and technician whose work you trust, then building that relationship over time.
The Future of Nail Services in the Wellness Economy
Industry analysts project continued growth in the premium nail care segment through 2028, driven by younger consumers who view self-care as a non-negotiable component of their lifestyle rather than an occasional luxury. The integration of nail health assessments, customized treatment plans, and wellness-oriented service menus will continue blurring the line between beauty service and personal care practice.
Technology is also influencing the client experience. Digital booking systems, personalized service histories, and consultation tools allow salons to deliver more tailored recommendations and maintain continuity across visits. These innovations enhance convenience without replacing the human connection that makes a salon visit meaningful.
For residents of Scottsdale and the greater Phoenix area, the abundance of quality salon options means that finding the right fit is a matter of priorities. Whether you value artistic creativity, product purity, a calming atmosphere, or simply exceptional technical skill, the right salon transforms nail care from a chore into a highlight of your week. In a world that constantly demands more of your time and energy, investing in rituals that restore and refresh is not vanity. It is a practical strategy for sustaining your best self.

The Hunt: The Best Dresses for Work

Sure, we all know what wardrobe essentials professional women are supposed to have in their closets (like work dresses!) , but if you’re buying one for the first time or replacing one you’ve worn into the ground, it can be a pain to find exactly the right incarnation in stores. In “The Hunt,” we search the stores for a basic item that every woman should have.
It has always been surprisingly hard to find the perfect work dress — and then the pandemic hit, and fashion went a bit off the rails. For a few years there it felt like every “work dress” was either a prairie dress, a silky slip dress, or something with enough ruffles and volume to make it difficult to wear under a blazer. Thankfully, workwear seems to be settling down. In 2026, we’re seeing polished sheath dresses, practical shirt dresses, modern midi dresses, and washable workhorses that actually make sense for professional wardrobes.
(We try to keep this roundup updated — other more specific dress roundups we’ve done include plus size work dresses, work dresses with pockets, day to night work dresses, fit and flare work dresses, work dresses with matching blazers, colorful sheath dresses for work, work dresses with built-in shapewear, and (over at CorporetteMoms), the best maternity dresses for work.)
Editor’s note: Corporette has covered workwear since 2008, and we’ve maintained some version of this roundup of the best work dresses for nearly two decades. For each update, we review reader favorites, current inventory, workplace trends, and the brands professional women consistently recommend to each other.
Executive Summary: The Best Work Dresses in 2026
What Makes a Dress Appropriate for Work
For my $.02, here’s what I think makes a great dress for work:
- thick enough straps or sleeves that there is no chance of bra straps showing through — look for lingerie snaps inside dresses to keep your bra in place, or ask your tailor to add them if you have a problem with falling bra straps
- a work-appropriate length that isn’t too trendy — usually within an inch of your kneecap (here was our last discussion on when a dress is too short for work)
- if there’s a slit, it doesn’t rise too high when you’re seated (sit down and do the mirror test to make sure!)?
- a fit that is tailored and polished but not “bodycon” — no one wants to work long hours in skintight clothing!
- pockets, which can be great (because, well, pockets!) but often add a lot of bulk and detract from the sleekness (I still almost always want pockets, but that’s me.)
- sleeves, which can also be a double-edged sword — sleeveless styles will inevitably layer better underneath cardigans and blazers. That said, sleeveless looks are not appropriate for every office — so know your office culture if you plan on wearing a sleeveless dress by itself.

Where to Find Great Dresses for Work in 2026
Ever since the pandemic the phrase “work dress” has been all over the map — rufflepuff! shirt dress! maxi dress! — and it feels like we’re finally getting back to a good place where it feels like things are starting to normalize a bit.
In general, broad strokes, if you’re on the hunt for good dresses for work, I’d check some of these stores:
If you’re on the hunt for more conservative, traditional dresses for work, these are some of our long-standing favorite dresses…

Editor’s Picks for the Best Dresses for Work in 2026
The Best Affordable Work Dress: Quince

This short-sleeved dress from Quince looks like a great summer basic at a fantastic price. As Elizabeth noted, “I know cap sleeves aren’t for everyone, but I find them to be one of the better options for wearing under a jacket or sweater.”
In addition to beige, the dress also comes in your classic black, charcoal, and navy if you’re looking for something a little more traditional.
The dress is $49.90 at Quince. It comes in sizes XS–XL (ooh, and they expanded well beyond the original colors!)
Other great options in the affordable section include Ann Taylor, Lands’ End, and Amazon sellers like this, this, or this. You can also look to long-running reader favorites for affordable dresses like Maggy London and Eliza J (also love this Anne Klein dress.)
The Best Traditional Sheath Dress: Theory

Sheath dresses disappeared for a while but they’re coming back. In 2026 they’re a bit longer than in previous years, and there are less darts and stitching for an overall simpler silhouette. This Theory sheath with a slight flare exemplifies the look, and because it’s in their Admiral Crepe you can get a number of matching pieces (including blazers).
Other great traditional sheath dresses include from options from M.M.LaFleur, BOSS, Black Halo, Hobbs, and St. John. On the more affordable side of things, Ann Taylor, J.Crew, T. Tahari, and Lands’ End are reliable spots.
The Best Washable Work Dress: M.M.laFleur

Readers love M.M.LaFleur’s Origami Tech line because it’s washable, wrinkle free, and in general is great for travel, summer, and more. Their relaxed Maaza dress has been around for a while, but they keep coming out with new colors.
Other more relaxed dresses to consider: Tuckernuck’s Jackie dress; Boden’s Ottoman line of dresses is also usually pretty relaxed (also washable!).

The Best Midi Work Dress: J.Crew

J.Crew’s Mathilde dress has been around for a year or two now, but it still feels fresh and a really easy choice if you just want to throw on one piece in the morning and go. I love that it has sleeves, also. For midi dresses I think the hemming is so important so I also love that they come in petites and tall sizes.
If you’re looking for more with this midi length, Me & Em and Theory are both flush with midi dresses for work at the moment; Nordstrom’s Halogen line also has a nice selection. Another great spot for midi dresses is our next spot…
The Best Modern Work Dress: Modern Citizen

I’ve admired Modern Citizen’s Fei dress for a few years, and they just came out with new colors. I like that this isn’t quite a wrap dress, a sheath dress, or a flared dress, but some combination of all of them. They come in regular and petite sizes XS-1X, and the dress is also machine washable.
If you’re hunting for more modern work dresses, COS has a quick-moving selection but is usually on point; Banana Republic and Spanx have also had more modern silhouettes for work dresses.
The Best Shirt Dress: Tuckernuck

Tuckernuck’s Chloe dress hits the sweet spot between midi dress, shirt dress, and work dress — and I like that it keeps coming out in new colors. It’s $298 and available in sizes XXS-4X in six different colors (but no petites, alas).

Frequently Asked Questions about Work Dresses
Do I need to cut the vent on this new sheath dress?
Yes. If your dress has a vent with a small X-shaped stitch holding it closed, that stitch is usually intended to be removed before wearing.
What should I wear underneath a work dress?
Many women prefer slip shorts (like these), shapewear (like this), a half slip (like this), or hosiery (like these) depending on the fabric and fit of the dress.
Do I need to wear pantyhose with a work dress?
Know your office — if it is extremely conservative (or you have a Big Day coming up in court or with the board) then the answer is “maybe.” But most modern offices no longer require pantyhose.
(You may want to check out our guide to pantyhose!)
How should I care for a work dress that’s part of a suiting set?
If your dress matches a blazer or other suiting pieces, dry-clean the pieces together whenever possible so they age and fade at the same rate.
What length dress is most professional for work?
We’ve talked about this a lot in the past, and as always the answer comes down to “know your office.” In general, most professional women find that dresses hitting around the knee or slightly below are the most versatile for work. Very short hemlines can read too casual or party-oriented, while maxi dresses often feel too vacation-oriented for traditional offices. When in doubt, observe what mid-level and senior women in your office are wearing.
Can I wear a sleeveless dress to work?
As readers discussed in our most recent post about whether sleeveless dresses are appropriate for work, the answer for most offices these days is, “yes” — although you may still want a layer because conference rooms and office A/C can be notoriously cold. (We just talked about things that make a cardigan frumpy, and we’ve also rounded up other toppers like sweater blazers, lady jackets, and blazers you can wear as separates.
Are sheath dresses still in style for work?
Sheath dresses are a classic and will always be appropriate for work. While fashion has shifted toward looser silhouettes, midi lengths, and fit-and-flare styles in recent years, a well-fitting sheath dress remains one of the easiest and most professional options for the office.
So if you like them and feel confident in them, go for it. If they seem too fussy, then you can go with one of the many other styles of dresses popular right now for work.
What shoes should I wear with a work dress?
The most conservative answer here is “a heel you can walk in” (here’s our most recent roundup, as well as our Guide to Comfortable Heels). That said, many offices today are perfectly accepting of flats like ballet flats, loafers, Mary Janes, oxfords, and boots paired with dresses.
As always, know your office. I would hesitate before wearing very high heels (4″+), casual sandals, or highly trend-driven looks unless I’d seen other women in my office wearing them successfully. When in doubt, choose polished shoes that complement the formality of your dress.

These Tuckernuck heels made me smile — they have such a joyful vibe!
If you tend to wear a lot of neutrals in the summer (black, white, neutral), these won’t be a stretch to wear at all — you could also obviously wear them with one of the colors in the rainbow-colored raffia (probably pink, but try them with orange, red, and blue also).
Not a fan of the colors? They also come in black.
The shoes are $265 at Tuckernuck, available in sizes 6-11.

Summer Sale Finds – Julia Berolzheimer
Comme Si Shirt, Leset Tank, Valentino Skirt, Miu Miu Flats, Chanel Bag, Sherman Field Necklace
Summer sale season is my favorite excuse to revisit the pieces that have been lingering in the back of my mind. The colorful printed dress, the great summer bag, the embroidered something I keep coming back to.
What I love most about summer sales is the timing. There is still so much season left. Vacations are approaching, weekends are filling up, evenings are slow and golden, and there is plenty of time for a great find to earn its place in the wardrobe. It feels less like planning ahead and more like adding something new to the summer that is already unfolding.
Below are the pieces that stood out most to me this week. Some are practical, some are purely for fun, but every one of them feels like summer.

Our daily workwear reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices.
Old Navy is coming in hot this week with a whole bunch of work-appropriate tees. When I’m looking for a t-shirt to wear to the office, I’m usually looking for something with a substantial fabric and a shape that isn’t too boxy. These double-layer scoop neck tops totally fit the bill. With ten colors to choose from and the typical range of Old Navy sizes, there’s something for everyone. Wear one under a blazer for a comfy business casual look.
The tops are $15.99 today and come in sizes XXS-4X, XST-XXLT, and XSP-XXLP.
Hunting for opaque white T-shirts for work? As of 2026, we’d suggest checking the double-layer lines from Boden, Express, Old Navy, and Hobbs, as well as great sources for basic Pima cotton such as Uniqlo, COS, L.L.Bean, Everlane, Banana Republic, and Talbots. (This $268 tee also gets great reviews for opacity, as do these two more affordable options — and Elizabeth swears by this tee under $30!)

Coffee Break: Scarf Waist Belt
This post may contain affiliate links and Corporette® may earn commissions for purchases made through links in this post. As an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases.
I was browsing through Sarah Flint’s website and noticed this beautiful scarf waist belt — I don’t remember seeing such a nice way to create a scarf belt.
I’ve always admired the creative ways people use scarves — tying them on handbags, wearing them as tops, wrapping them around ponytails, turning them into belts — but most of those ideas seem to require either a lot of practice or a YouTube tutorial. This feels like a much more foolproof option.
But this is really clever — it’s a solid leather piece that has numerous holes in it, designed for you to thread a 90cm scarf through it. The leather piece is reversible so it’s two pieces in one: there is a calf leather version with cream on one side and a tan “saddle” on the other side, a navy and red version, and the pictured black and cognac. There’s also a nice version with two textures, black calf on one side and deep espresso suede on the other (part of their Mary Orton collab).
Scarves of course are classic, but I don’t feel like they’ve been trendy for a long time — and I think that’s changing. I’d love to hear which are your favorite scarves!
The belt piece is $260-$265; Sarah Flint also has a nice scarf collection.

Jordyn Woods’ Game Day Style at the NBA Finals: Custom Tailored by Zunyda, LaPointe, and More
Jordyn Woods Has Been Throwing Fits Courtside at the NBA Finals
While Karl-Anthony Towns and the New York Knicks have been making history on the court, his fiancée Jordyn Woods has been making history of her own on the sidelines — one outfit at a time.

The model and entrepreneur has become one of the most watched style stars of the NBA Finals, showing up to each game with a look that is equal parts intentional and effortless. Fashion Bomb Daily has been tracking every fit, and the verdict is clear: Jordyn’s game day style is in a league of its own.

Her go-to designer for the Finals has been Tailored by Zunyda, the custom label that has consistently delivered body-conscious, fashion-forward pieces that photograph beautifully under arena lighting. Each custom look has felt specifically crafted for the moment — bold enough to stand out courtside, polished enough to command attention on every camera cut.

But Jordyn hasn’t been one-note. She has mixed in elevated pieces from LaPointe, keeping the lineup fresh and unpredictable. She has also incorporated denim looks and New York Knicks gear into the rotation, showing that she can move seamlessly between high fashion and fan loyalty without missing a beat.

The throughline in every look has been her lucky Wood by Jordyn clutch bag — a signature accessory that has become as recognizable as the fits themselves, showing up game after game as her constant courtside companion.

Jordyn’s Finals style has been a masterclass in dressing for a moment. She’s supporting her man, repping the team, and doing it all while looking like she just stepped off a runway. The Knicks may have made history — but Jordyn made sure the fashion was just as unforgettable.
