Tops for the Season – Julia Berolzheimer

Tops for the Season - Julia Berolzheimer

Zimmermann TopPareo & ScarfSensi Studio BagBritt Netta Sandals

A great summer top might be the hardest-working piece in your closet this time of year. There’s no sweater to layer on top, no coat to finish the look. It has to stand on its own, which means it has to feel special enough to do exactly that.

It’s why a fresh rotation of tops feels like such a priority heading into the season. I think a lot about what’s worth adding to the mix, the kind I can pull on with the shorts, linen pants, and or a breezy skirt.  A scarf print, a tie shoulder, a bit of embroidery, crochet, or raffia trim can make a top feel like the whole outfit, which is exactly the job a great summer top is meant to do.

Our daily workwear reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices.

This linen popover from Loft has a print that’s a little unusual for the office, but I’m into it. The hibiscus design feels summer-y, and the linen fabric looks delightfully breezy.

I like pairing the popover silhouette with a midi skirt, or tucking it into some wide-leg pants. Loft offers coordinating shorts if you’d like a matching set for the weekend.

The top is $42 at Loft, marked down from $69.95. It comes in sizes XXS-XXL and XXSP-XXLP.

Ciara Miller Wore a Dipetsa SS26 Rope Fringe Look at the Summer House Reunion

Published

on

1 Ciara Miller Summer House Reunion Dipseta Dress White Amanda West

Ciara Miller made her presence known at the Summer House reunion, arriving in a look that was anything but ordinary. The reality television personality wore a Dipetsa SS26 piece from the label’s Archaeology of Self collection — a sculptural rope fringe bralette paired with a draped maxi skirt, both constructed from the brand’s signature intricately looped rope detailing.

The Greek label, founded by Demetra Pinsent, has built a reputation for designs that blur the line between fashion and art. The Archaeology of Self collection drew on themes of identity, memory, and the body, with each piece functioning almost as a wearable sculpture. Miller’s look embodied that ethos, with the cascading rope fringe creating dramatic movement that translated seamlessly on screen.

The look was captured and shared by makeup artist Kase, who also handled Miller’s beauty for the appearance.

Naomi Osaka Wore Two Custom Kevin Germanier Upcycled Nike Looks at Roland Garros 2026

Naomi Osaka brought high fashion to the clay courts of Roland Garros during the 2026 French Open, turning heads with not one but two custom looks crafted by designer Kevin Germanier in collaboration with stylist Marty Harper.

For her first appearance, Osaka stepped onto the court in a bronze sequined peplum jacket and black tulle skirt, both constructed from reworked Nike garments. The look, created in collaboration with designer Nguyen Tien Truyen, drew on a previous design the two had worked on together, reimagined through Germanier’s signature lens of sustainable luxury.

The second look continued in the same spirit — a gold and bronze sequined puff-sleeve top paired with a dramatic flowing ivory tulle skirt, once again crafted entirely from upcycled Nike pieces. The combination of athletic heritage and couture-level construction made for one of the most talked-about court entrances of the tournament.

Both looks underscored a growing conversation at the intersection of sport and fashion, with Osaka continuing to establish herself as one of the most compelling style forces in professional tennis.

On the Scene at the Strung World Premiere During the 2026 American Black Film Festival: Chloe Bailey, Coco Jones, and More!

The 30th anniversary of the American Black Film Festival kicked off in Miami Beach with the world premiere of Strung, drawing a constellation of talent to the red carpet for an evening that was equal parts cinema and fashion.

Chloe Bailey, who stars in the film, set the tone in a $3,200 Avaro Figlio Radiance Jacquard Ball Gown — a sleek black strapless corset bodice anchored by a dramatic silver jacquard full skirt and sweeping train. She later took the stage with the cast to officially open the premiere.

Coco Jones arrived in a powder blue Geyanna Youness tiered tulle midi dress adorned with satin bow detailing throughout, bringing a soft, feminine energy to the red carpet.

Lynn Whitfield kept it polished and timeless in a $595 Milly Queen Leopard-Print Bustier Midi-Dress, pairing the structured silhouette with gold accessories for a look that was equal parts classic and bold.

What do you think? Whose look was your fave?

The Best Luxury Work Bags for Women

This post may contain affiliate links and Corporette® may earn commissions for purchases made through links in this post. As an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases.

Sure, we all know what wardrobe essentials for work professional women are supposed to have in their closets, but if you’re buying one for the first time or replacing one you’ve worn into the ground, it can be a pain to find exactly the right incarnation in stores. In “The Hunt,” we search the stores for a basic item that every woman should have.

If you had an unlimited budget, what would your work bag be? We thought we’d go on a hunt for the best luxury work bags for women — including quiet luxury work bags, laptop totes, and designer bags that can actually survive a commute.

UPDATED FOR 2026: This post was originally posted in 2023, but we’ve updated it for 2026 by adding newer reader favorites from Métier, DeMellier, Kaai, and more — including several understated luxury bags designed to fit laptops, work papers, and travel essentials.

What to Look for In a Luxury Work Bag

Over the years, we’ve noticed that readers’ priorities for work bags have changed significantly. It’s not just about aesthetics anymore — readers increasingly want bags that can survive commuting, fit laptops, work with hybrid schedules, and transition easily between office, travel, and dinner. Many luxury bags aren’t designed for all of that! So while some brands are aspirational or cool, we haven’t included them (for example) if your wrist is going to ache from holding a top-handle bag that holds your laptop or your legs are going to get bruised from a heavy bag banging against them because the too-long shoulder strap was designed for a man.

Here are some specific things we love in a luxury work bag:

  • Lightweight enough for commuting
  • Fits a 13″ or 15″ laptop
  • Comfortable shoulder straps
  • Professional silhouette
  • Minimal visible branding
  • Durable leather and hardware
  • Interior organization
  • Travel-friendly features like trolley sleeves or zip closures

Why You Should Trust Corporette®

At Corporette®, we’ve been covering professional women’s workwear since 2008, and have written hundreds of posts about comfortable office clothing and shoesbusiness casual wardrobes, and reader-favorite brands for wardrobe essentials. (We just did a big update to our guide to the best women’s suits!)

Our community is one of the best parts of Corporette® — you’ll see a lot of professional women at all career levels, discussing which clothes work for their offices and their lifestyle.

How We Picked Our Favorite Luxury Work Bags

For this guide, I prioritized classic work bags that are large enough (and functional enough) to hold work papers and devices like laptops and tablets. Because this is a luxury roundup, many of the bags start around $700 and go up from there — but as we’ve discussed for years, expensive doesn’t always mean better for work.

I remember years ago discussing the Prada Saffiano tote — the general consensus at the time was that NO, you do not need a super fancy, expensive, designer luxury work bag. In the years since, a ton of readers with big jobs (partner, C-suite, etc) have noted that they adore this $578 bag (frequently on sale!) and any of these $400-$700 bags — and it’s probably worth noting that these can be more functional, as well, since they are designed to hold laptops and, in many cases, fit over the handle of a rolling suitcase.

(In fact, we’ve even discussed how in some situations, carrying a bag that is obviously expensive can work against you, particularly in situations where you’re representing people other than yourself. Or, you know, if you’re an intern carrying a $9000 handbag. Know your office and your job!)

Still — there have been a lot of reader discussions recently where women are looking to splurge on bags, particularly understated “quiet luxury” bags that feel polished without screaming logos, so I thought we’d do a roundup of some of the best luxury work bags if you ARE on the hunt for one.

(We’ve also discussed when “must” you carry a designer bag to work — and how to deal when your offensive client uses your designer bag to “joke” that he’s paying you too much. Ah yes, and how to deal when your boss tells you dress too well — or perhaps just feels bad that you’re dressing better than your boss.)

Our Latest Favorite Luxury Work Bags and Luxury Work Backpacks

Some of Our General Favorite Work Bags for Women in 2026 (All Prices)

These start as low as $50! Note also that, while we’ll go through the best luxury work bags in a bit, there are a TON of our readers who have big jobs (law partner/C-suite type jobs) who adore these more affordable laptop bags (frequently on sale!) and any of these $400-$700 bags.

Some Of The Best Laptop Totes (Reader Favorites!)

The Best Backpacks for Work in General

The Best Luxury Work Bags and Luxury Laptop Totes For Women

Many readers lately seem less interested in overt logos and more interested in beautifully made bags that quietly signal quality and competence. These are some of our favorite understated luxury work bags.

Best Quiet Luxury Work Bag: Métier Private Eye Tote

Metier's Private Eye ToteMetier's Private Eye Tote

Métier’s Private Eye tote feels like the spiritual successor to the old Céline-era “if you know, you know” executive bags: understated, beautifully made, and quietly luxurious without relying on obvious logos. The structured silhouette feels polished enough for boardrooms and client meetings, while the roomy interior and shoulder strap make it far more practical than many traditional top-handle luxury bags.

I like that it looks chic and polished in an understated, rich way — but is still functional. It can accommodate a 13″ laptop, has zippers and other closures, and the center compartment snaps out to become a clutch or smaller shoulder bag.

Of course, at this price point, practicality still matters: if you’re carrying a particularly heavy laptop every day, you’ll want to pay attention to sizing and strap comfort. But overall, this feels like one of the strongest examples of modern quiet luxury done well for actual professional life.

You can find the Private Eye at Métier.com or NET-A-PORTER — and if you want something with more tote bag vibes you can also find those with the brand’s Chameleon, Incognito, Verite bags.

Best Practical Luxury Work Bag: DeMellier Hudson Tote

DeMellier’s Hudson looks perfect for a luxury work bag. I love the thoughtful details: two phone pockets, an interior zip pocket, a front slip pocket, and metal feet at the base. I also like that the bag is designed to be worn on the crook of an arm, over your shoulder, or handheld — and the front belted strap modifies the inside space of the bag.

The bag is big enough for A4 files and a 13″ laptop, and is $745 at DeMellier. (Interestingly, the brand’s inventory changes far more often than a lot of these brands and they introduce and then remove products — we’ve included the Maxi Montreal and the Tokyo bags in previous roundups, both of which are a lot harder to find today. So if you see something you love, buy it!)

Best Luxury Tote for Commuters: Kaai Pyramid Tote

Kaai's pyramid toteKaai's pyramid tote

We’ve featured this bag from Kaai in a few colors now, and of all the totes in the roundup this one is still one of my favorites. It’s definitely a bit of a splurge, but I love the origami-like folded leather and colorful lining.

Their pyramid tote fits a 15.6″ laptop, has a zippered top (YAAAS), and is $895. The brand is sold in a lot of places in Europe, or you can get free worldwide delivery on orders over $125.

Best Understated Executive Bag: Veronica Beard Dash Tote

Veronica Beard's Dash ToteVeronica Beard's Dash Tote

Veronica Beard’s Dash tote comes in a variety of sizes and materials; the largest size is 17″W x 11″H x 6.5″D. It has a 5″ strap drop and 16-19″ crossbody strap drop. I love that it has gold feet as well as a zippered interior pocket, as well as a magnetic closure at the top.

One reviewer notes that “just everything about the bag feels luxurious — highly recommend!”

The large size is $798 at Nordstrom, VeronicaBeard.com, and other fine department stores.

Best Classic Luxury Work Bag for Lawyers: Mulberry Bayswater

If you’re hunting for a briefcase-like bag for work, this gorgeous leather satchel from Mulberry should definitely be on your list. I like the fact that it has feet (so rare these days!!) and smartphone pockets, but do note that it’s unlined. This version only has a flap closure, but they also make zippered versions that look a bit more like regular tote bags.

In terms of dimensions, the bag is 10.5″ H x 14.25″W x 6.5″ D, with a handle drop of 6″. There is a sister bag that is more of an open tote style if you prefer that!

The pictured Bayswater is one of the largest sizes; it’s $1,650 at Nordstrom; you can also find it at Mulberry and other fine department stores.

(Also around this price range: these gorgeous totes from Strathberry!)

The Best Lightweight Luxury Work Tote: Prada Re-Edition Tote

lightweight luxury totelightweight luxury tote

Prada nylon bags were huge in the late 90s and, like everything else from the late 90s and early aughts, they’ve come back around. (Kate Spade’s nylon bags are also back!) I like that Prada is re-releasing these bags with recycled nylon and leather. They come in a number of colors and styles right now. The tote bag has an exterior slip pocket, several interior pockets, and is 10.2″H x 13.8″W x 5.9″D.

Readers who prioritize lightweight bags for commuting and travel may also want to check out longtime favorites from Tumi and Lo & Sons, both of which have developed loyal followings among frequent travelers and women carrying heavy laptops daily. (We’ve also done a luxury backpack roundup if you’re concerned about ergonomics!)

Best Fashion-Insider Work Bag: Bottega Veneta Andiamo Large Tote

professional woman holds luxury work tote in dark green from Bottega Venetaprofessional woman holds luxury work tote in dark green from Bottega Veneta

I’ve long been a fan of Bottega Veneta’s woven leather look — it’s the ultimate in quiet luxury. I haven’t seen a bag large enough for work papers until this one, though.

The pictured bag has an open top with magnetic closure, as well as an adjustable knot strap in the center — in the various images you can see women carrying it in the crook of their elbow, like a briefcase, and over the shoulder. It’s 13.8″H by 16.5″W x 7.1″ deep — so should you want to carry work papers in it, you can.

It’s around $8000 at Nordstrom.

Readers who prefer a more minimalist contemporary aesthetic may also want to check out brands like Polène and Elleme, both of which have developed strong followings for understated leather goods in recent years.

Best Oversized Luxury Work Tote: Tom Ford Tara Tote

Black woman wearing brown turtleneck carries large black tote bagBlack woman wearing brown turtleneck carries large black tote bag

This Tom Ford bag looks amazing if you’re looking for an extra large bag — it is is 12.5″ tall by 20″ wide by 8″ deep, so quite large. I love the size in proportion to the (20″) shoulder straps.

It’s $1990 at MyTheresa.

Readers, what are your thoughts — what are the best luxury work bags for women?

Are Luxury Work Bags Worth It?

As we’ve discussed before, luxury work bags can be a bit of a mixed bag. You certainly don’t need to carry a designer bag to work — and depending on your office, industry, or clients, a visibly expensive bag can occasionally create awkward dynamics. Over the years we’ve fielded reader questions about everything from clients joking that a lawyer with an expensive bag must be “overpaid” to bosses who seem oddly uncomfortable when younger employees dress too well.

It’s been years now, but one of our earliest viral posts was about an intern who wanted to carry an Hermès bag to work. Our advice at the time was that very obvious displays of wealth can sometimes send unintended signals early in your career — fair or not. (Honestly, it would be fascinating to revisit that conversation now.)

At the same time, many readers with senior-level jobs genuinely enjoy investing in beautiful, functional bags that they’ll carry for years. And in fairness, many modern luxury work bags are far more practical than they used to be: lighter materials, laptop-friendly compartments, better shoulder straps, trolley sleeves, and thoughtful organization all make a difference if you’re commuting regularly.

One thing I’ll also never forget: a lawyer I worked with used to carry her handbag into every internal meeting because she was afraid to leave it unattended in her office. That’s probably worth considering too when you’re buying a multi-thousand-dollar bag that may or may not fit in a lockable drawer.

As always: know your office, know your industry, and buy the bag that works for your actual life.
