Brian Fletcher travelled from his home in Bury on Saturday afternoon (March 22) to the Tockholes area in Lancashire and was last seen at around 1pm that day.
Lancashire Police are now asking for anyone who has dashcam footage from the A675 Belthorn Road – from Abbey Village to Tockholes – between 1.30pm and 2.30pm on Saturday to get in touch.
Brian was driving a grey-coloured Citroen C4 Cactus car which was found parked in a layby on the A675, near to Tockholes Road over the weekend.
Police are concerned for his welfare and are urging people to call 999 ‘immediately’ if they have any sightings.
They are being assisted by Mountain Rescue teams in the search for Brian.
Team members from Bolton MRT and Rossendale and Pendle Mountain Rescue Team searched overnight covering Darwen Moor, Roddlesworth Plantations, and Great Hill.
On Sunday further resources arrived from Bowland Pennine Mountain Rescue Team (BPMRT) along with a HM Coastguard Search and Rescue aircraft and Mountain Rescue Search Dogs England.
The search for Brian continues today, Monday, which encompasses parts of Darwen Moor, Withnell Moor and the Roddlesworth Plantations.
A spokesperson for Lancashire Police said: ” Our search for Brian Fletcher is continuing, Brian having gone missing while walking in the Tockholes area of Lancashire.
“Brian, 80, travelled from his home in Bury on Saturday afternoon, to the Tockholes area.
“He is a keen walker and birdwatcher, and regularly walks in the area, including Higher Roddlesworth Reservoir and Lower Roddlesworth Reservoir.
“As we look to find Brian, we are asking for anyone who has dashcam footage from the A675 Belthorn Road – from Abbey Village to Tockholes – between 1.30pm and 2.30pm on Saturday.
“Brian was driving a grey-coloured Citroen C4 Cactus car, registration WP64HSC, which was found parked in a layby on the A675, near to Tockholes Road.
“If you saw him driving the car in the area or have footage of the car, we ask you to contact police.
“Brian is 5ft 8, slim, with grey hair. He has a small scar on his face from a recent procedure.
“We are concerned for Brian’s welfare and if you think you have seen him over the weekend in the Tockholes and surrounding areas, please get in touch.
“Any sightings, please call 999 immediately. If you have dashcam footage of his car or any information which could assist us in finding Brian, contact 101 – quoting log 1544 of 22nd March 2025.
“Our officers are being assisted by Mountain Rescue teams in the search.”
