Dawn French banned from driving for fourth speeding offence

The 68-year-old was caught speeding in Plymouth on June 11, 2025, which was her fourth speeding offence.

It has been reported that she was driving at 36mph in a 30mph zone on Mannamead Road.

French already had nine points on her licence, and the latest offence brought her total to 12, resulting in an automatic disqualification.

Magistrates at Plymouth Magistrates’ Court endorsed her licence with three penalty points and handed her a £600 fine, as reported by The Sun.

She was also ordered to pay a £240 victim surcharge and £90 in court costs.

Her solicitor, Chris Spencer, said: “It’s a misjudgement on her part for which she has already pleaded guilty online.

“She expresses her remorse.”

District Judge Stuart Smith told the court the offence fell into the lowest subcategory of speeding guidelines and that the disqualification was a result of reaching the 12-point threshold.

He said: “It’s a matter which falls into the lowest subcategory of the speeding guidelines with a fine in Band A and three penalty points.

“Three penalty points added to the nine therefore triggers the disqualification provision.”

French did not attend the hearing but pleaded guilty online.

French opened up about the incident on the On Purpose podcast with Jay Shetty and said: “I was getting phone calls, like it’s on the BBC. It’s on international, worldwide news.

“I was like, my shame is everywhere.”

“So I went from basically only driving myself on weekends or during a holiday, to then, when I became a student, driving myself all the time and I did not have the experience, or skills clearly, which I now will and do.”

Pierce Brosnan has brushed off rumours that he and his MobLand co-star Tom Hardy were involved in a feud.

The James Bond star, 73, insisted that the reported drama was nothing more than a ‘storm in a teacup’ at the London premiere of Guy Ritchie’s crime series, which also stars Dame Helen Mirren.

The second series made headlines during filming after reports of tension behind the scenes, with Hardy at the centre of the speculation.

Hardy was reportedly accused of keeping his co-stars waiting on set and clashing with showrunner Jez Butterworth and David Glasser over script disagreements.

Following this however, reports emerged that he had not been axed, while Mirren posted a supportive picture of him to quell any rumours.

Now, while speaking to the press, Brosnan has reiterated: ‘Oh my God, it was a storm in a teacup, really.

‘I love the dude. I love Tom Hardy. I’m a massive fan of the man’s work. Truly.’

Insisting that the cast and crew remained close, he described them as ‘rock solid as a company, as a family’.

‘Everyone shows up for work, and everybody’s just there on the spot,’ he added.

‘It moves very fast so it’s not like we go out and socialise and go to the pub or anything like that.

‘Everyone goes home to their families and before you know it, you’ve done 10 episodes.’

Hardy also praised Brosnan and Dame Helen, saying it was a ‘privilege’ to work alongside the veteran stars.

‘They’re awesome,’ he said. ‘In many aspects of course I look up to them. Coming up, these are actors that came before me.

‘So to be able to work with them is a privilege.’

The second series of MobLand sees the Harrigan family struggling to maintain a united front as they face increasingly dangerous rivals.

Hardy’s character, Harry Da Souza, remains at the centre of the action, with Brosnan returning as mob boss Conrad Harrigan.

Dame Helen, 81, meanwhile, plays Conrad’s formidable wife Maeve Harrigan.

Describing her role, she added: ‘The relationships are amazing.

‘Obviously, Pierce and I have an extraordinary chemistry on-screen and off-screen. We’re very, very fond of each other. We respect each other enormously.’

MobLand series two premieres globally on Paramount+ on September 18.

A man has been charged with assault and obstructing officers at the funeral of one of five young men who perished in a head-on collision with a marked police vehicle.

The service at Teesside Crematorium for 17-year-old Cole Worthy was thrown into disarray on Wednesday when officers were called to reports of trouble inside.

Camila Cabello, Bobby Brazier and Patrick Schwarzenegger were also spotted at the event.

Kate’s outing comes after she caught up with her sister Lottie and posed for sweet snaps at their father Peter’s birthday lunch earlier this month.

Kate and her OnlyFans star sibling, 28, posed alongside their brother Nick for a sweet family snap during their pub meal.

Kate and Nick’s mother is Peter’s ex-wife Linda, while Lottie is the daughter of travel agent Peter, and his second wife, Norwegian Inger Solnordal, who was at the lunch.

The half-sisters being snapped together is significant in regards to their fractious relationship after it was reported in 2024 that Lottie’s family had turned on her once she started stripping off on OnlyFans.

Kate looked stunning at the family get together where she donned a black tea dress with red roses and her hair in loose blonde waves, while she posed with her father and handsome brother Nick, who sported a buzzcut.

Lottie meanwhile looked pretty in a white blouse while she posed with her boyfriend Themy Kalaitzis, who draped his arms around the stunner.

The family fallout happened when Lottie started stripping off for the adult subscription website OnlyFans, after moving to Los Angeles in 2021.

Speaking on her podcast, Dream On with Lottie Moss, she said: ‘There’s so many OnlyFans girls in LA and so many porn stars in LA.

‘People really just accept them into society, and people are cool with them, and nobody asks many questions about it.’

Lottie, who was educated at £20,000-per-year Bede’s school, added: ‘Then I moved back to London, and this was when it got real for me.

Tensions grew over Lottie’s wild ways that saw her regularly taking drugs five times a week, which was a huge red flag to Kate who had ditched her own partying days.

Kate’s love of boozing, which reportedly extended to flutes of prosecco at 8am and glasses of wine and vodka at lunch, saw friends coin her the nickname ‘The Tank’, but in recent years she’s embraced yoga, wellness and quiet nights in.

Their lifestyle clash came to a head between the pair during lockdown, when Kate invited Lottie to stay at her Cotswolds mansion.

An insider told Page Six: ‘Kate was frustrated because Lottie kept on wanting to drink and posting sexually provocative stuff on Instagram all the time.

‘It isn’t easy for Kate to be around people who are drinking, and she definitely won’t be around anyone who is using cocaine.’

Kate was famously dubbed ‘Cocaine Kate’ when she was photographed snorting the substance in 2005, while dating Pete Doherty, who has made no secret of his own past drug use and addiction to heroin.

Denise Richards was all smiles at the 2026 Daytime Beauty Awards in Los Angeles on Wednesday

Denise Richards has made no secret about going under the knife for a facelift.

So it was no surprise to see her walk the red carpet with her plastic surgeon Dr Ben Talei at the 2026 Daytime Beauty Awards in Los Angeles on Wednesday.

The Wild Things actress, 55, looked fresh and wrinkle-free as she posed for photos in a sheer frock with floral embroidery.

After posing alone, she was joined by Dr Talei, who looked dapper in a powder blue suit.

The Beverly Hills-based surgeon was behind the star’s deep-plane facelift, which cost around $200,000.

Richards also got a brow lift, an upper eyelift, a lip lift and fat grafting from her own thighs into her neck and face.

‘Originally I had been thinking about doing just my neck,’ she previously shared on Bunnie Xo’s Dumb Blonde podcast.

‘And then a friend of mine, she’s very well-known, and she’s not public about hers, and she said to me, “You have to do the whole thing”.’

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star had only ever done Botox and fillers before, but she ultimately decided to go all the way with her facial makeover.

‘The only analogy I could give is like you remodel a house and do one room and the room looks great, but it doesn’t match the rest of the house,’ she explained.

She then gushed about Dr Talei’s work, calling it ‘impeccable.’

‘He did the neck, the lower face, the upper, the brow lift. The only thing he didn’t do were my lower lids. He did my upper lids.’

She added: ‘It was the best thing I did for myself.’

Sheen’s surgery was documented on Bravo’s Denise Richards & Her Wild Things, with Sami seeking out celebrity surgeon Dr Deepak Dugar for one of his famous ‘Scarless Nose’ jobs.

It’s a closed rhinoplasty that involves making incisions inside of the nose so that none of the cuts are externally visible, and provides more natural results when done correctly.

Open rhinoplasties can sometimes lead to scarring on the underside of the nose, especially on the columella, which is the strip of tissue that separates the nostrils.

A scarless nose job costs roughly between $19,000 and $24,000, and healing can take as little as a week.

Dr Dugar estimates that the vast majority of celebrities who have had nose jobs have done so with a closed, scarless approach.

‘I’m part of an 80-year legacy practice here in Beverly Hills doing celebrity nose jobs and I can tell you that most celebrity rhinoplasty is closed scarless rhinoplasty because of the discretion,’ he told the Daily Mail back in 2024.

‘They don’t want people to know they had a nose job. There’s still a taboo and a stigma no matter who you are. They want very natural results that look like it could have been what they were born with,’ he continued.

‘The cookie cutter, TikTok, Instagram, Turkish upturned nose job, the “Barbie nose” as they call it, everyone knows you can’t really be born with that.’

Sheen, who now works as an OnlyFans creator, has also had a breast augmentation, fillers and Botox, and has porcelain veneers too.

Richards is also one of the top creators on OnlyFans, with the actress raking in well over six figures a month on the site.

Outside of OnlyFans, Richards currently stars on The Bold and the Beautiful.

Several tourists killed as coach flips over in Swiss mountains

Published

Wales Online

Police in Switzerland are yet to confirm how many people died in the accident in the Engadine valley

Several people have died after a coach carrying tourists to Austria flipped over on a mountainous road in Switzerland, police have confirmed.

Emergency services in the scenic Engadine valley of the Alps raced to the scene of an accident at 8.10pm.

The incident involved a Dutch-owned coach with 48 passengers, who are understood to have been from the Netherlands.

Rescue teams and paramedics were seen by the coach as it lay on it side on an embankment beside the carriageway. As part of the response, helicopters have also landed nearby, reports the Mirror.

A local police statement read: “Several people died in the accident involving the tour bus in Susch. Several people were also injured. Further information will follow.”

It comes after an earlier message, which read: “Between Susch and Zernez, a tour bus has had an accident. Various rescue organizations are on site.”

The incident took place in the eastern Swiss canton of Graubünden, deep in the Engadine valley, on a stretch of road linking the villages of Susch and Zernez.

The coach reportedly belongs to Oad, a Dutch tour company that runs holiday trips across Europe.

A spokesperson for the General Dutch Association of Travel Companies (ANVR) confirmed it was carrying 48 passengers from the Netherlands.

“These are Dutch customers of OAD. We cannot yet say exactly how many people have been killed or injured” the spokesperson said to the Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf.

A police spokesperson said the road between Zernez and Susch has remained closed.

Arjan Koster, director of the Oad bus company, told the Dutch news portal AD the trip had begun on Monday and the coach was en route to Austria for a day visit to Switzerland.

Burnage by-election LIVE as Labour battling to hold on to mayor Bev Craig’s old council seat with Greens hoping for upset

Published

on

Manchester Evening News

Labour are battling to hold onto Bev Craig’s former council seat in Burnage tonight (Thursday) after polls closed at 10pm in a crucial by-election.

Carl Austin-Behan is hoping to hold the seat for Labour, with his main rival expected to be the Green Party’s Daoud Nawaz.

The race has been tipped as a ‘huge’ moment for the city’s future with the Greens gunning to make a ‘statement’ by taking the former council leader’s seat, which has boundaries covering Burnage and parts of southern Levenshulme.

The seat with nearly 14,000 voters is up for grabs after former Manchester City Council leader Ms Craig was elected as mayor of Greater Manchester in July.

Click here for the latest on Greater Manchester’s politics in our newsletter

While the outcome in Burnage tonight won’t have a drastic impact on the overall control of the council which is comfortably in Labour’s hands, it could be a sign of things to come with the May 2027 local elections now just eight months away.

Manchester council is run by the Labour Party, which holds 63 seats in the city, next to the opposition Greens with 21, seven Reform UK councillors, and four Lib Dems.

Labour lost council seats across Manchester in the 2026 local elections as the Greens and Reform UK both made major gains around the city, including in Burnage where the Greens won the ward by more than 800 votes.

A lot has changed since then, however, with Andy Burnham being elected as the MP for Makerfield in June and going on to become Prime Minister, sparking an uplift for Labour’s fortunes in what has been described as the ‘Burnham bounce’

That will be put to the test tonight after some voters in Burnage told the Manchester Evening News this week that there are major issues affecting the area, from speeding cars to ‘crumbling’ pavements.

Manchester council’s new leader, Coun Garry Bridges, will no doubt be keeping a close eye on the result tonight with his own seat in nearby Old Moat also up for election in 2027, in a ward which also voted in a Green Party councillor in this May’s local elections.

The candidates standing in the race are: Carl Austin-Behan (Labour), Bhupinder Kumar (Conservative), Heather McDonagh (Reform UK), Daoud Nawaz (Green), Gaz Ranjha (Workers Party), and Abdullah Vavdiwala (Lib Dems).

The dress that proved elegance is the best revenge: We’re all still obsessed with Diana’s most famous gown 30 years on…now it’s up for auction. Don’t be surprised if it fetches over $1million, says LAURA CRAIK

Published

on

Few dresses can lay claim to being as famous as their wearer, but if any garment deserves its place in the history books it’s the ‘revenge dress’

Few dresses can lay claim to being as famous as their wearer, but if any garment deserves its place in the history books it’s the ‘revenge dress’.

Worn by Diana, Princess of Wales to an event at London’s Serpentine Gallery in June 1994, her little black dress didn’t merely set a trend – it inspired a whole genre.

While its designer, Christina Stambolian has long been forgotten, the dress she created for Diana has become forever lodged in the public memory.

Its daring cut was interpreted as a public rebuke to Prince Charles, who had admitted to committing adultery on ITV shortly before Diana made her appearance at the Serpentine.

Tight, black and falling seductively off-the-shoulder, the dress seemed designed to show her husband just what he was missing. Worn with high heels, red lipstick and a pearl choker, it proved that elegance is the ultimate revenge.

In the intervening years, many A-listers have tried to recreate its impact in an attempt to wreak their own revenge.

Thirty-two years after its original appearance, the most famous ‘LBD’ (little black dress) in history is poised to make another stir.

In December, Sotheby’s New York will offer fans the chance to own the storied garment, which will be sold at auction for the first time in nearly three decades.

Diana only wore the dress once, before selling it at a 1997 charity auction of 79 dresses to benefit cancer and Aids charities. It has remained in the hands of its current owner ever since.

Parts of the proceeds from the Sotheby’s sale this December will also have a charitable element, benefiting NHS Lothian Charity on behalf of the Royal Hospital of Edinburgh.

The dress is arguably the most infamous example of Diana’s clever use of fashion to manage her image and semaphore her feelings.

According to her stylist, Anna Harvey, Diana decided to wear the dress at the eleventh hour, having owned it for three years but previously considered it too daring to wear in public.

Harvey once said that Diana “wanted to look like a million dollars”. Three decades later, she might posthumously get her wish.

While Sotheby’s estimates the dress will fetch $150,000 (£110,00) – $300,000 (£221,000), the final sale figure is likely to be considerably more and could comfortably reach a million dollars – or even surpass it.

In January 2023, a velvet Victor Edelstein dress from Diana’s wardrobe sold for $604,800 (£446,000), five times more than its estimate.

In September 2023, a famous ‘sheep jumper’ worn by a 19-year-old Lady Diana fetched $1.1million (£812,000) in New York, fourteen times more than the auction house’s $50,000 (£37,000) – $80,000 (£59,000) estimate.

Eye watering as this figure is, it’s still not the most expensive item to have been sold from Diana’s wardrobe.

That accolade belongs to the Jacques Azagury gown worn by Diana in Florence, Italy, in 1985, which in December 2023 fetched $1,148,080 (£847,207.10) at Julien’s Auctions in Hollywood, smashing its original estimate.

Given the global fame of her ‘revenge dress’, it seems likely that the most storied gown of modern times will soon be adding ‘record breaker’ to its distinguished cv. No doubt its dedicated Wikipedia page will be updated accordingly.

Happily, those without the funds to buy it may at least be allowed a glimpse. Ahead of the sale, the dress will tour globally, with stops in London, Hong Kong and Geneva, before returning to New York for public exhibition and the December auction.

May the best woman win.

The long-running BBC soap, which began in 1985, has never shied away from tackling tough topics and the latest in a long line of issue-based storylines will feature Amy, who is just weeks away from her 18th birthday, fall into an unhealthy relationship with corrupt police officer Craig Ingram.

With Amy (Ellie Dadd) having admitted responsibility for Joel’s attack, Craig gains Amy’s trust by agreeing to keep her confession a secret from the police. Unbeknownst to Amy, Craig has been suspended from public police duty following a series of complaints at work, and he uses his position of power to elicit control.

Believing Craig to be the only thing that stands between her and serious consequence for the attack on Joel, Amy is incrementally manipulated and groomed by Craig over a series of months and will eventually find herself in danger when Craig.

In upcoming scenes, Craig will create an environment where Amy believes he is the only person she can trust. Bosses of the soap have teamed up with Barnardo’s and End Violence Against Women Coalition to bring the storyline to the screen in the way they see fit.

Ben Wadey, EastEnders Executive Producer said: “When telling a storyline like Amy’s, we have a huge responsibility to highlight and raise awareness of the warning signs of grooming. We’re grateful to be working with Barnardo’s and End Violence Against Women to help us tell this story.”

Lynn Perry, Barnardo’s Chief Executive added: “We welcomed the opportunity to provide expert advice on this storyline – which is a powerful reminder that there is no stereotypical victim or perpetrator of grooming.

“Young people from all walks of life can be targeted and fall victim to controlling behaviour – and many are often unaware that they are being groomed. We hope this important storyline can highlight how subtle the signs of grooming can be and how it builds over time.

“To any viewers who recognise themselves in this story – who may be currently experiencing abuse or might have in the past – we hope this storyline shows you that the abuse was not your fault and we encourage you to seek support. We appreciate the writing team’s professional curiosity and determination to get this story right.”

Janaya Walker, Interim Director at End Violence Against Women Coalition added: “We’re proud to have worked with the EastEnders team on this storyline about grooming and police-perpetrated abuse, which has been delivered with sensitivity and care. On-screen portrayals like this have the power to shift attitudes and increase understanding of abuse across society.

“This storyline will help raise awareness about how those in a position of trust can abuse their power to target women and girls. We hope it can play an important role in making these experiences visible and help victims watching at home to understand that what happened to them was abuse, and to seek support.”

EastEnders airs Mondays to Thursdays at 7:30pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
