The husband of a teacher accused of sexually seducing her former pupils told her trial she has a medical condition which means she can only have ‘quick’ sex.
Sally-Anne Bowen, 65, allegedly had relationships with two teenage boys at Christ’s College in Finchley in the late 1980s when she taught chemistry at the north London school.
Bowen is said to have had sex with one of the boys 20 to 30 times over five months and to have dressed suggestively in short skirts and tight tops to lure in the boys.
She denies the claim – and her husband Darren Lee Scotchbrook said today she has a congenital condition which means she cannot have penetrative sex for long.
He told Harrow Crown Court that although he has had sex with his wife throughout their 36-year relationship he has to be careful not to hurt her during the act.
Mr Scotchbrook said the first time he had sex with Bowen, it was unlike anything he had experienced before.
‘It was completely different. She had a condition she was not aware of. It was obviously there. It was more of a process than lovemaking.

‘It was a careful process. I was wondering “What’s going on?” It was kind of sore.
‘She asked me to be quick. Then I was quick. I was never a great lover. I have always been quick.’
Mr Scotchbrook said he met his wife when he was roughly 20 and she was 28 at a pub in Catford, south London.
On their first date they went for dinner on a boat on the Thames, but when they went back home she did not want to have sex with him, he said.
Mr Scotchbrook said: ‘I was a bit upset about it. I spent £200 on dinner.’
He said sex was ‘clearly’ not as enjoyable as he would like it to be for Bowen, who was often ‘reluctant’, and that it also left him ‘sore’.
But asked if he enjoyed the sex, he answered: ‘She made me listen to Leonard Cohen. It was more enjoyable than that.’
After Mr Scotchbrook finished his evidence, Mark Kimsey representing Bowen read agreed facts from the medical reports of two gynaecologists.

Dr Adrian Lower and Dr Ahmos Ghaly concluded the alleged sexual activity with the first pupil was ‘feasible’.
Mr Kimsey added: ‘The experts agreed full penile vaginal penetration would be painful but possible to achieve.’
Bowen’s condition is called a ‘longitudinal vaginal septum’ which is an extra piece of tissue in the vagina.
It was diagnosed in 1990 and not removed until an operation in 2017.
Prosecutors previously said Bowen acted and dressed like she was in a music video created for one of pop star Sabrina Carpenter’s songs – which can contain sex references.
Bowen denies dressing in a sexualised manner and told the jury yesterday to remember she was in her mid-20s and that she wasn’t going to ‘dress like Margaret Thatcher’.
She told the court her skirts would be roughly three fingers higher than her knee.
Bowen, of Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire, denies seven counts of indecent assault.
She was earlier cleared on one further charge of indecent assault.
The trial continues.
