Police failed to arrest a paedophile stepfather who sexually assaulted and murdered his girlfriend’s two–year–old daughter.

Isabelle Welsh suffered a sickening ‘campaign of violence’ at the hands of Harrison Simpson, 22, and Alexandra Walker, 26, in the weeks before her death in September last year in Thornaby, Teesside.

The toddler endured 21 broken bones before a final ‘massive head injury’ was inflicted upon her – consistent with being ‘violently shaken’ and her head ‘impacting a hard and unyielding surface such as a wall or hard floor’.

Cleveland Police admitted they failed to carry out a warrant issued for Simpson’s arrest in the months leading up to Isabelle’s death.

The warrant was issued in March 2024 after Simpson failed to appear at court over a charge of breaching a non–molestation order.

The order was put in place following reports of harassment involving threats made to an adult woman, unrelated to the murder case.

Cleveland Police said: ‘Multiple enquiries and arrest attempts were carried out to try to locate and arrest him but these proved unsuccessful.

‘In line with openness and transparency, we informed Isabelle’s family of the circumstances surrounding the outstanding warrant early on in the investigation.’

The force said it recognised that the time Simpson had an outstanding arrest warrant was ‘far from adequate’ – adding a review was ‘immediately conducted’ following his arrest for murder.

A spokesman said: ‘This review, along with a determination to continually improve our processes around suspect management, has led to a number of recent changes, such as ongoing improved visibility across the force around outstanding warrants, a comprehensive data system which tracks all outstanding warrants, and stringent oversight including a governance group led by a Superintendent.

‘Those outstanding warrants posing the highest risk are reviewed daily by senior management.’

Social services and the police were allegedly unaware Simpson and Walker had started a relationship – dating for three months before Isabelle’s death.

The local safeguarding hub – run by the local authority – was in contact with Isabelle and Walker on two occasions in the weeks before the toddler’s death.

Both interactions resulted in no further action – with a health visitor seeing Isabelle four days before she died but not attending the family home.

Simpson and Walker were jailed for life with a minimum of 27 years and 21 years respectively after being convicted of murder.

On the morning of Isabelle’s death, Simpson had been caring for her alone while Walker slept.

After the jury returned guilty verdicts, Isabelle’s father, Josh Welsh, said: ‘It means the world to me that we have justice for Isabelle’

At some point during this time she was violently sexually assaulted.

He then left Walker’s property in Thornaby, Teesside, on his bicycle.

When Walker woke in the afternoon after a night of heavy drinking and found Isabelle barely conscious and bleeding from a wound consistent with sexual assault, rather than call an ambulance, she smoked a cigarette and then used Google to search: ‘Why would my toddler be bleeding?’

An hour later she finally called her stepfather who immediately told her to dial 999.

Despite an ambulance arriving within a minute, Isabelle could not be saved and died in the early hours of the following morning.

Sentencing the pair, Ms Justice Norton said it was difficult to describe their course of conduct as ‘anything other than sadistic’.

She said Walker’s actions in failing to call the emergency services when Isabelle clearly required medical attention was ‘because you believed she was already dead and were working out what to do to save your own skin’.

Judge Norton said that, before Simpson arrived in Walker’s life, Isabelle was a ‘happy and healthy child’.

She added: ‘There has been a wall of silence, lies and obfuscation built up surrounding the last few weeks of Isabelle’s life before her murder.

‘Harrison Simpson, you have been silent throughout. You have said nothing in [police] interview or at trial. Before you came into Isabelle’s life she was a happy, healthy and thriving child.’

Turning to Walker, the judge said she was a ‘liar and fantasist who wanted attention’.

She said: ‘Whether or not it was attention seeking that led you to commit these offences or some misguided loyalty to Harrison Simpson…. you never said you were forced into acting as you did and you had significant support from parents, the health visitor, the nursery and GP but you made no attempt to get their support or help.’

Simpson was jailed for life with a minimum term of 27 years and 231 days in prison.

Walker was jailed for life with a minimum term of 21 years and 48 days in prison, with time on remand awaiting trial taken into account for both defendants.

Simpson, wearing a grey tracksuit jacket, and Walker, in a black blazer and white shirt, stared blankly ahead as the sentences were delivered.

In the run–up to her suffering the fatal skull fracture on September 13 last year, Isabelle suffered 21 broken bones, internal tears from violent sexual assaults and had 97 soft tissue injuries from being tightly held and shaken.

Tragically, shortly before her death, the toddler was sent home from hospital after doctors overruled other staff’s concerns for the child.

Eleven days before her murder, she was reluctantly taken to a GP and then hospital by her mother with a fractured leg.

Staff at North Tees Hospital in Stockton, Co Durham, did not want to allow Isabelle to leave with her, fearing potential abuse.

Walker had waited two weeks to seek treatment despite Isabelle struggling to walk. She claimed the young girl must have hurt her leg when it got caught in her cot.

When concerns were raised at the hospital on September 2, Walker became ‘argumentative’ and angry – lunging at a nurse who raised the issue of safeguarding.

The mother warned the nurse that speaking to a safeguarding team was ‘totally unnecessary’.

Doctors on a paediatric team eventually overruled the concerns and Isabelle was allowed to leave with Walker.

A health visitor was asked to speak to Walker because of the hospital’s initial concern – but she did so over the phone and Walker convinced her that everything was above board.

Less than a fortnight later paramedics found Isabelle lying motionless at the foot of the stairs.

Tragically, the same nurse who raised safeguarding concerns was on duty when Isabelle returned to hospital and could not be resuscitated.

The nurse said the child was ‘covered from top to toe in bruises’. In court, Walker blamed Simpson for the injuries. Simpson declined to give evidence but his barrister said Walker was responsible for Isabelle’s death.

The trial heard the couple met on Facebook Dating in the summer of last year but within a short time he was living at her house.

The pair would regularly drink and smoke cannabis together.

Soon, however, Simpson began showing an unhealthy interest in Isabelle, bathing her alone unprompted and always making sure Isabelle was with Walker, rather than wishing to see his girlfriend alone.

This prompted Walker to search the Sex Offenders’ Register for his name and question whether he was a paedophile.

After deliberating for seven hours, jurors found Simpson and Walker guilty of murder and child cruelty.

Simpson was also found guilty of assault by penetration of a child under 13. Walker was cleared of the same charge.

Detective Chief Inspector Steve Chatterton, of Cleveland Police, said: ‘Isabelle suffered catastrophic injuries at the hands of the very people who should have loved her, cared for her and protected her.

‘Her life was cruelly taken in the most tragic and heartbreaking circumstances.

‘She should have had a lifetime of opportunities ahead of her. Instead, Walker and Simpson robbed Isabelle of her future and deprived her family of watching her grow up and achieve those milestones that so many take for granted.’

A crazed gunman who killed at least two people after opening fire at an In-N-Out burger restaurant drive-thru in Idaho turned his rifle on himself following the rampage, police have revealed. 

The shooter, who has not been identified, was pronounced dead on Saturday evening after sparking chaos outside the restaurant, with several more victims raced to hospital with gunshot wounds. 

A second shooter was seen firing at the suspect with a handgun, with witnesses claiming he was a heroic bystander who shot back at the gunman and helped victims get to safety. 

However, following claims that the second shooter bravely took down the gunman himself, Duane Rubink, chief of the neighboring Jerome Police Department, confirmed the suspect took his own life. 

‘It appears there was one shooter who is deceased from a self inflicted gunshot,’ Rubink told CNN.  

Footage from the scene showed the gunman armed with an AR-style rifle opening fire from the drive thru of the newly-opened burger franchise location, sending dozens of terrified witnesses scrambling for their lives. 

Idaho Falls city spokesperson Josh Palmer said the investigation into the mass shooting is ongoing, and warned that officials expect the official number of victims who were injured ‘to increase.’ 

Witness Lane Koehn, 34, said he saw the bystander with a handgun spring into action when the suspect began the shooting spree, saying he returned fire before rushing to the side of an In-N-Out employee who was shot to help get her to safety.

He said the employee was ‘pretty bad off’, and said the hero bystander – who he claimed told him he was a retired paramedic – stayed by her side until an ambulance arrived.

A second man was seen firing back at the gunman with a handgun, with a witness praising the anonymous hero for confronting the suspect before helping victims get to safety

The gunman, who appeared to be a young white male, had been seen exiting a white vehicle at the restaurant drive thru, before walking through the parking lot and firing into a Tesla. Officials said Saturday evening that the gunman turned the gun on himself

The shooting began at 3pm local time, with footage from the scene showing dozens of people fleeing across a roadway as a barrage of gunshots rang out. 

In footage shared by Koehn to social media, the gunman was seen initially exiting a white sedan in the drive-thru and rapid firing a number of shots.

Koehn said he did not believe the gunman was targeting anyone specific, describing his shooting pattern as ‘random.’ 

‘You can tell he was panicking. He was not very calm and collected, running and slinging his rifle around firing,’ he told the New York Times. 

Koehn added that the bystander with the handgun’s decision to return fire appeared to force the young gunman to run for cover, and he then moved to a nearby parking lot. 

Separate footage showed the gunman then firing aimlessly into the windshield of a Tesla, although it is unclear if the vehicle was occupied.

The popular burger chain had only opened the new location in Twin Falls this week, with many saying they had been anticipating the opening for months. 

Authorities say the investigation into the shooting is ongoing, and Twin Falls Police Chief Matthew Hicks said officers are ‘working to try to ascertain his identity and the motivations’ for the tragedy.

Idaho Governor Brad Little said in a statement to X: ‘Idahoans, join me in keeping the Twin Falls community in your prayers as law enforcement and first responders respond to an active shooter situation near In-N-Out. 

‘Please avoid the area and follow directions from law enforcement as they work to keep everyone safe.’

Idaho Attorney General Raul Labrador said in a statement at 6:30pm Eastern Time that authorities were still searching for the suspect or suspects. Police later said the gunman was deceased. 

‘Praying for everyone in Twin Falls as first responders continue searching for the suspect near In-N-Out. Twin Falls Police, Idaho State Police, and fire and paramedic crews remain on scene working to secure the area,’ Labrador said.

‘If you’re in the area, please listen to local authorities and stay away from In-N-Out and the surrounding streets so first responders can do their jobs.’

The government aims to build 1.5m new homes in England over a five-year period, translating to an average target of about 370,00-a-year. JT Lifestyle Homes has now officially finished the development in Thornley, County Durham. It was the first in the UK to use a wall-laying terra-based robot – nicknamed WLTR or ‘Walter’ – to place bricks with speed and ultimate precision.

Dr Jan Telensky, founder and CEO of JT Lifestyle Homes, hopes the technology will help address the labour shortage in the construction industry. Dr Telensky said: “There is currently a severe shortage of bricklayers in the UK, along with a wider skills shortage across much of the construction industry.

The UK is in the grip of a “housing crisis” and new PM Andy Burnham wants to deliver “the biggest council house building programme since the post-war period” – but has not as yet revealed any detailed plans. A former Hamas hostage risked his own life to help thousands fleeing the Nova festival – before being kidnapped and confined inside a Gaza terror tunnel for more than two years.

Bar Kupershtein, 24, was working as a security guard and medic at the Nova festival in southern Israel when the barbarous attacks of October 7, 2023 erupted.

Some 413 people were killed and 44 taken hostage to Gaza from the annual outdoor trance festival, as Hamas terrorists unleashed their savage assault on nearby Kibbutzim, including Be’eri, Kfar Aza and Nir Oz.

Bar could have tried to save himself but instead made the fateful decision to stay and help those most in need.

Over the next few agonising hours, the then 21-year-old jumped into his ATV and persuaded a security officer to open an emergency access road – saving thousands of lives in the process.

Without that route, drivers were haplessly forced to head towards roads leading to Kibbutz Be’eri, around six miles away, or Kibbutz Re’im, just a mile away from Nova. 

But both locations were subjected to vicious Hamas attacks that left hundreds of men, women and children butchered to death, raped or kidnapped.

Many who went left or right along Road 232 ended up confronting terrorists planted along the routes.

‘I told the police we were in the middle of a death trap,’ recalled Bar, who went on to reroute terrified festivalgoers across open fields to safety. 

He and five other armed security personnel then bravely positioned themselves behind a vehicle during a standoff as they shot at the Hamas terrorists. Four of the men he stood with that day were murdered.

In all, he is credited with saving the lives of 2,000 people and scores more after ferrying several injured in his ATV to paramedics close to Nova.  

He would have kept going on with his mission had it not been for the sinking realisation the Hamas terrorists were closing in. 

‘I understood in that moment I can’t save anyone else, I needed to save myself,’ he said soberly.

Speaking about his harrowing experience, Bar explained how he left his vehicle and found himself running towards scrubland with ‘gunfire everywhere’. 

He then began crawling on the ground, the bullets rushing around his head before hearing a prolonged gunfight between terrorists and Israel Defense Forces soldiers who had arrived at the scene.

‘After 40 minutes, there was suddenly silence and it was finally over. I’m thinking the IDF had defeated the terrorists – but then I heard “Allahu Akbar”. 

‘Something inside me broke. I didn’t understand how the terrorists had won. 

‘They started to murder everyone. I heard the screaming and then silence. Then they came to me, I prayed and waited for them to kill me. But instead they decided to take me hostage.’

Haunting footage later emerged on Telegram, seen by his family, showing Bar tied up on the ground, bound at his wrists and ankles with a cord wrapped around his neck, alongside fellow hostage Elkana Bohbot.

They and several others were hauled onto a truck and taken by Hamas terrorists into Gaza, where Bar recalled he was moved around several times before reaching an apartment. 

After several months he was moved again to a tunnel, where he spent the remainder of his captivity cramped into a darkened room 50m underground.

He said of his conditions: ‘It was forbidden to talk or to move. I had handcuffs, feet cuffs and a blindfold. Every day they say to us “we’re going to kill you”. 

‘They gave us a little bit of food, water, but not clean water – it was salty. A few times there were fish in the water.

‘The terrorists started to punch us day after day. After two weeks they came with a large stick and called me and another hostage, Yosef-Haim Ohana, to a room where they beat us and broke my leg. 

‘I prayed all the time and asked don’t let this break me. I knew one day I would be released and I needed to stay strong. This was a very hard time for me.’

At one point his captors forced him to make a propaganda video, where he was compelled to tell the camera ‘Hamas are ok’. 

‘I was an actor in the tunnels of Hamas,’ recalled Bar. ‘But I told them I would do any video they wanted, because then my family would see I was alive.’

A glimmer of hope in the darkness of the Hamas tunnels came when Bar was handed a transistor radio. His kidnappers told him he needed it to learn the Koran – but he resourcefully retuned it to an Israeli station. 

Then something truly remarkable occurred.

‘For the first time we hear about the war, what happened outside, the protests, the soldiers dying, what had happened at Nova. Two weeks later was my birthday – and one of the presenters wished me a happy birthday. 

‘I knew in that moment no one had forgotten us. I stayed close to the radio and the presenter suddenly said: “I have a special person with me today”.

Against all odds it was Bar’s mother, Julie Kupershtein, who was appearing on the show.

‘I started to cry – this was the first time after one-and-a-half years that I had heard my mother’s voice. It was the best birthday present and the hope I had asked God for.’

On October 13, 2025, after 738 days in captivity, Bar was finally released alongside 19 other surviving hostages as part of a ceasefire agreement.

Bar said of the day he was finally freed: ‘I remember coming out of the tunnel. My eyes were covered but I could feel the sun on my face, I could hear the cars, the birds, the people. It was amazing.’

Just hours later he was back in the arms of his mother and father, Tal. 

During emotionally charged scenes, the now former hostage watched on in amazement as his father – who had suffered a stroke years earlier – lifted himself out of his wheelchair to embrace his son.

‘This was without a doubt the best day of my life,’ said Bar.

The former hostage revealed the full extent of his heroism during an evocative speech at the Nova Exhibition in London earlier this month – where incredibly, one of the many people he saved that day was in the audience listening. 

Nova survivor Eden Rozner, 28, told the Daily Mail he fell into a ‘plunge of tears’ after hearing Bar, because he realised the man standing in front of him was the reason he was alive.

Amid a hail of bullets and missiles, Eden recalled how he had spent ‘two hours of Russian roulette’ trying to determine which way to flee as he witnessed ‘death all around’ him.

Having made it to a vehicle, Eden and his close friends drove away at speed and onto an emergency track that had just been opened to fleeing revellers.

But unknown to him, it was Bar who had guided them to safety.

The physical therapist from Kfar Saba had not met his saviour in person until the pair met at the exhibition – where he embraced Bar on stage and thanked him for saving his life.

Eden said: ‘It was very emotional for me, because almost after three years I was able to thank him for the first time in person. It was a really amazing moment.’

Reflecting on the events of October 7, he said: ‘None of the things that happened that day should have happened. We were supposed to go to a festival and go back home and continue with our lives. 

‘The festival was filled with friends who got taken hostage and murdered, while others got away alive.

‘Many people ask me how did I survive? And I often tell them, none of us survived – we became somebody else. I cry every day and feel sad, but also happy and blessed to still be here.’

Fellow survivor Anita Conforty, 49, who also listened to Bar’s testimony, said she will forever feel a connection to others who witnessed events at Nova.

‘This is something that will stay with me for the end of my days,’ she told the Daily Mail. 

The piano teacher was celebrating the 40th birthday of close friend Sharona Shmunis-Harel at Nova when the missiles began appearing in the skies. 

Some of her group began to panic, others were insistent the incident would soon be over, but for Anita ‘something felt really off’.

She said: ‘Then these security guys came and screamed at us to evacuate and it started to feel really serious.

‘We got in our minibus, but there was a traffic jam out of the site. We realised the terrorists were already there at Road 232 and saw people getting out their cars and running. They just left everything. 

‘Then we heard two guys screaming “terrorists” and we understood what was happening.’

Due to having vascular scoliosis in his legs, Anita’s husband Yaniv was unable to run – forcing the pair to hide instead in bushland. 

The mother-of-three said: ‘I remember I didn’t want to die in fear. I was saying goodbye to my kids in my heart. I just looked up and saw birds flying. I identified myself with them being free, flying away and I thought whatever happens I’ll be OK.’

The sounds of gunfire and bullets came closer to the pair and they realised they would not be able to stay in their hiding spot for much longer. An armed police officer appeared and told them to run for the open field, where now thousands of others were fleeing for their lives. 

‘I heard and felt the bullets all over us. One whistled past my head. There were people running and screaming. We wanted to rest but we just didn’t know where.

‘Then we came across a cliff. I saw my friends – the ones we had just been dancing with – being massacred and falling to the ground. Terrorists were shooting at them from behind. It’s a memory that stays in my mind every day. 

‘We were just there to dance – and then the next moment we were chased like animals.’

Anita and her husband were eventually picked up by a van packed with 15 others that also escaped through the open access road to safety.

Her friend Sharona, however, remained missing. Twelve days later Anita received the tragic news that the mother-of-two had been killed in the so-called ‘Ambulance of Death’. 

Seeking refuge, Sharona and 17 others had hidden inside an abandoned emergency vehicle before terrorists struck it with missiles and set it alight.

The minibus driver Anita had hired to take the group to Nova was also murdered. 

‘Our Arab Muslim driver stayed with the car – he stayed to take us home and he was also killed. They murdered him just because he was there. Hamas weren’t coming only to kill Jewish people, they just came to kill.’

Having been born in Yugoslavia, Anita had fled the war in Kosovo as a young adult. Nova marked the second time she had been forced to run for her life.

‘I feel like a soldier without ever having been in the army,’ she reflected. ‘My time at Nova still feels like yesterday. 

‘They say time is healing, but in truth my grief will stay the same for me all my life.’

More than 40,000 people visited the Nova Exhibition in Shoreditch, London, including former Prime Minister Boris Johnson, Mayor of London Sir Sadiq Khan, and senior government figures Wes Streeting, David Lammy and Angela Rayner. 

Burned out cars, toilet cubicles riddled with bullet holes, abandoned camping gear and rows of discarded shoes were among the possessions placed on display at the poignant exhibition, before it closed last month following a 10-week run.

Labour’s Bev Craig, who won Thursday’s election, said she intends to keep Kate Green as deputy mayor for safer and stronger communities and has asked the city mayor of Salford, Paul Dennett, to continue as deputy mayor for Greater Manchester.

Ms Green has held her current post since 2023, spearheading the city-region’s work to ensure everyone feels safe within all communities of Greater Manchester.

Mr Dennett has served as deputy mayor since 2021 in addition to his role as city mayor of Salford, playing a key role in tackling inequality and building truly affordable homes across Greater Manchester.

Ms Craig said: “Over the past three years Kate has played a pivotal role in the ongoing transformation of Greater Manchester Police and Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service into two of the best performing services in the country.

“As deputy mayor for safer and stronger communities she’s been a powerful advocate for women and girls and has helped drive a stronger focus on prevention, supporting victims, and bringing partners together to drive down crime and antisocial behaviour.

“Paul brings huge experience, strong values, and a relentless focus on tackling inequality.

“As deputy mayor of Greater Manchester he has been at the forefront of our work to build more truly affordable housing and played an important part in our work to persuade government to devolve more powers to Greater Manchester.

“I’m so pleased that they have both agreed to continue in these roles and I look forward to working with them as we build a Greater Manchester that works for all of us.”

Ms Craig officially takes office on Monday, August 3, and said she will begin setting out her plans for tackling the cost-of-living and supporting young people.

Ms Green said: “I’m delighted to have been asked to stay in the best job I’ve ever had, and I’m looking forward to working with the new mayor to continue our mission to ensure people feel safe in their homes, on their streets, and in our communities.”

Leny Yoro has suffered a mixed two years so far at Man Utd but the centre-back is ready to make his mark in the 2026/27 campaign.

It can be easy to forget that Leny Yoro is still only 20. A Lille debut at 16, a £50million signing at 18, pursued by Real Madrid, signed by Manchester United. His trajectory to the top looked unstoppable.

But over two years at Old Trafford, smooth progress has become a little bumpier. Injuries and the general chaos that has engulfed the club haven’t helped the French centre-back settle in. Signed by Erik ten Hag, he is already on a third manager at the club.

United pushed the boat out to beat Real to the signing of Yoro from Lille in 2024 and backed him to go to the very top, but his 66 appearances so far include just 30 Premier League starts across his two campaigns at the club.

Yoro picked up a metatarsal injury early in his first pre-season that kept him sidelined until December and he has been battling to make up for lost time ever since, but feels he is now ready to shine under Michael Carrick as United prepare to return to the Champions League.

“I have no excuses, but I had injuries, and like I say, I hope I’m not going to be injured this season, and I will show to everyone what I can do,” Yoro said after helping to win the Snapdragon Cup in Stockholm.

“I hope I’m not going to be injured this pre-season. That’s going to help me to improve as well and to be ready for the start of the season.

“I know I can do much, much better. I know my potential for sure, and I hope I’m going to do a really good, good season.”

Yoro has already made 139 senior career appearances, a hefty total for a young centre-back, but he knows he still has plenty more development to come.

“Sometimes people forget I’m still 20, still have to learn, still have to improve,” he said. “I know my potential. I know I can learn a lot, I can improve a lot, so I hope this season is going to be a big, big step for me as well.”

He has added to his trade in pre-season, starting all three fixtures so far at right-back in the absence of Diogo Dalot and Noussair Mazraoui.

But Yoro still sees his future in the heart of defence and he is ready to challenge Harry Maguire, Lisandro Martinez, Matthijs de Ligt and Ayden Heaven for a place in the side this season.

“I enjoy [playing right-back],” he said. “If I can help the team in this position, it’s good. I’ve played centre-back, but I enjoy playing this position.

“[But centre-back] is still my position. If I can be on the pitch, right-back or centre-back, if I can play, that’s the best for me.”

United finished third last season after an impressive end to the campaign under Carrick and Yoro is confident a challenge for the Premier League title isn’t beyond them this season.

“We’re Manchester United, so we have to think like that, and I know we have the potential to do it, so now we have to do it,” he said.

Morrisons has released three new flavours of chocolate bar that blend traditional sweets with some fan favourite treats, and one bar in particular has been given top marks online

Your new favourite chocolate bar could be sitting on the shelves at Morrisons. We all love a sweet treat from time to time, and for many of us, nothing beats a bar of chocolate.

Chocolate manufacturers regularly try to innovate and come up with new flavours to keep us interested in their products, and while some flavours fall flat, others become viral sensations. Morrisons has recently released three brand new flavours of chocolate, and at least one of them is already taking the internet by storm.

This comes after Morrison’s also recently innovated in the trolley department, becoming the first supermarket to launch AI-powered trolleys. The chocolate bars were shared on TikTok by food blogger Minstrel Munches, who showed off all three bars but only gave one a taste in her first video.

The flavours on offer blend traditional sweet flavours like biscuits and other classics with the smooth taste of milk chocolate – and at least one of them is definitely a winner.

What are the new Morrisons chocolate flavours?

Morrisons’ new chocolate flavours include: Custard Cream milk chocolate, Jaffa Orange milk chocolate, and Peanut Butter and Jelly milk chocolate. All three bars are chunky, with the filling being in creamy layers between the chocolate rather than just flavouring the chocolate itself.

In her video, the woman tried the custard cream flavour, which features a vanilla cream and biscuit crunch layer, covered in milk chocolate. Before tasting it, she said it “smells like custard creams”, and was blown away when she finally took a bite.

She said: “Wow. That is top tier. There’s actually biscuit pieces in there. In the custard cream … cream. That is elite. Good biscuit pieces, getting the custard cream flavour, that’s a 10 out of 10. Get down [to] Morrisons and give it a try.”

Commenters on her video were eager to try the new bars out for themselves, with many saying they “look insane” and that they can’t wait to get their hands on all three flavours.

One person said: “These look insane!! I really need to go have a look and try them out, soooo yummy looking!!”

Another added: “I will be smashing these.”

A third wrote: “I really want to try the custard cream bar!”

Each of the three new chocolate bars from Morrisons is priced at £2 for a 165g bar, and they are classified as “luxury chocolate” on the Morrisons website.

The Jaffa Orange bar is described as having a “zesty orange jelly layer”, while the peanut butter and jelly bar is described as having a “creamy, nutty, and fruity jelly layer”, and both are covered in milk chocolate.

All three bars are currently too new to have any reviews on the Morrisons website, but other social media posts have heaped praise on the bars, calling them “elite”.

A review of the Jaffa orange bar on Instagram rated it a 7.5 out of 10, claiming it was “good quality” but “very messy” if you intend on breaking it up into individual squares due to the jelly mixture inside.

The reviewer wrote: “Good quality thick chunks of milk chocolate with a gooey Jaffa orange sauce in each block. It’s got the combo of both Jaffa and orange. It’s not pure Jaffa. Very messy if you break through the squares, so break carefully.”

The chocolate news comes as Morrisons recently announced plans to offer a freebie to anyone in the UK between now and September. The free Kellogg’s breakfast offer is designed to help struggling families during the summer holidays while kids are out of school, but it can be claimed by anyone, as long as you visit a Morrisons with a cafe.

The deal was recently highlighted by ITV’s This Morning regular and money specialist Jordon Cox. In an Instagram post to remind families of the deal, he said: “If you’re struggling over the school summer holidays – head down to a Morrisons Café.

“Anyone can claim this, although the deal is focused on helping people who may be struggling to afford keeping the kids fed/entertained over the summer. So maybe only use it if you need it!”

To redeem the offer, ask for at the cafe till for a ‘Kellogg’s Breakfast’, and the staff will give you the items included in the deal for free. Alternatively, people can use touch-screen ordering kiosks in certain stores with those installed, as there will be a specific option for the free breakfast.

Just over a couple of weeks are left to get GTA VI for less

With a few months still left for Grand Theft Auto VI to launch on both the Xbox and PlayStation 5, players across both platforms can still get their hands on a pre-order copy. However, while many retailers are offering the game at an eye-watering price of around £69.99, there is a way players could save over £15 on their copy.

GTA VI is set to hit the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S on November 19, after facing multiple delays throughout the past year. But, while many excited fans can pre-order the game right now from GAME for £69.99, a cashback deal could cut that cost significantly.

TopCashback is giving players the chance to grab the game for £54.15 instead, as long as they’re new to the cashback platform. This deal is available to shoppers regardless of whether they’re new or existing GAME customers.

While there is still a lot of crucial information about the game to be released by the studio, we do know that it will be the first mainline 3D game in the series to feature a female protagonist. Lucia will appear in the game alongside her partner in crime, Jason, with early trailers of the game hinting at an adventure where something goes terribly wrong for the pair.

The game will be set in the iconic Vice City, which longtime fans of the franchise will remember fondly from previous titles. Physical pre-orders for GTA VI are also available from a wide variety of other retailers at different prices with, Amazon offering copies of the game at a reduced price, dropping from £69.99 to £667.95, while Very is offering its own copy for £69.99.

Shoppers should bear in mind, though, that Rockstar has confirmed that physical pre-orders of GTA VI will contain download codes, rather than the whole game itself being on the disc, meaning players will need an internet connection to download the full game.

If you can’t wait for GTA VI’s release, though, you could instead opt to play Saints Row Day One Edition on the PS5, which is available on Amazon for £12.90. As a franchise, Saints Row has often been likened to GTA’s quirky cousin, with this game offering similar themes of criminal drama and high-octane action.

Otherwise, you could instead opt to relive some classic memories with GTA V, which is currently reduced on Amazon or the PS5, dropping from £23.25 to £22.46. GTA V offers a large open world for players to enjoy while engaging in various missions and a story packed with twists and criminal drama.

In describing the game on its website, Rockstar Games highlighted that Jason and Lucia will “find themselves on the darkest side of the sunniest place in America, in the middle of a criminal conspiracy stretching across the state of Leonida — forced to rely on each other more than ever if they want to make it out alive”.

While it has been confirmed that the game will launch on the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, there has yet to be any confirmation dates for PC platforms and Nintendo Switch.

Jeremy Clarkson has claimed that he’ll work between 15 and 20 hours a day on Diddly Squat in the summer – and yet, he doesn’t “actually get paid” for what he harvests.

The Clarkson’s Farm star, who originally bought his Cotswolds farm in 2008, began running it himself in 2019 and has since been vocal about the difficulties of making a profit as a farmer. Last month, he revealed that it’s become “impossible” to make money from growing food on the farm.

In his latest newspaper column, Clarkson shed more light on farm life, revealing that he’ll “work non-stop” on Diddly Squat in the summer and yet it’s still “cheaper to go on an expensive holiday”.

Writing in The Sun, he said that farms are not able to book a summer holiday as it’s “impossible” to know when the harvest will be. “This means the farmer is forced to stay at home for the summer, looking at Instagram pictures of all his non-farming friends as they frolic on boats and in bars in the sun-drenched Mediterranean..

“Sounds terrible, yes? Well it isn’t. Some jobs on the farm are unpleasant. Sexing rabbits is annoyingly difficult, and disposing of dead piglets is heartbreaking. But I’ve been harvesting all week, and this job is an absolute joy.”

He added that he wakes up at 4am to “work non-stop for 15 to 20 hours at a stretch” and while it’s “hot and dirty out there”, he can’t get enough of it.

“Finally, you turn off the engines and in the golden-hour silence that results, you crack open an ice cold bottle of beer and gulp at it as the sun goes down. I’ve drunk beers in many exotic and beautiful locations over the years, but none of them match the beer you treat yourself to after a hard day’s harvesting,” he said.

“The only slight fly in the ointment is that thanks to the hot summer and this Government’s strange hatred of farmers, you don’t actually get paid for the wheat and the barley you’ve harvested. In fact, I worked out this morning that it’d be cheaper to go on an expensive holiday.”

Last month, Clarkson called for action from the government on farming matters, revealing that he’s left 200 acres of his farm bare as it would be “impossible” to make money from it. “We knew that if we planted it with wheat or barley, we would definitely make a loss,” he said.

Meanwhile, in the last series of Clarkson’s Farm, viewers watched as the presenter protested against the government’s proposals to increase inheritance tax by 20 per cent on agricultural assets worth more than £1m. After the protests, the government increased the threshold from £1m to £2.5m.

The recent series also saw Clarkson reveal that he had been diagnosed with cancer. He shared on the show that his cancer was aggressive but had been caught at a “really early” stage, and later said that a post-treatment test two months ago found no indication of cancer.

Holidaymakers are staying away from campsites in France as ‘unprecedented’ wildfires rip through the country, while firefighters scrambled to protect a seaside town in Greece. 

A wildfire in France’s Provence region continued to spread last night as 1,300 firefighters were deployed to quell the flames. 

Some 2,500 people were still unable to return home. 

Campsites in south-west France are now deserted after holidaymakers avoid the area following weeks of fires. 

A campsite manager in Domaine de La Rive, near the town of Biscarrosse, told of how a recent evacuation has deterred more tourists from coming. 

Some 1,200 people were evacuated from the campsite in just 30 minutes.  

But now, while the site is usually booked out, Hadrien Folliot said his campsite was empty.    

Some 62 campsites were evacuated in the wildfire affected areas, France’s National Federation of Outdoor Lodging said.

‘The situation is extremely hard, especially today. We have really strong winds, gusts exceeding 73 kph (45 mph). The direction of the fire can’t be determined easily,’ doctor and firefighter Giorgos Doulas said.

New pictures show helicopters dropping water and fire retardants to try and stop the spread of the fire. 

Ilias Papadimitropoulos, 65, from Kryo Pigadi said: ‘Every summer we worry whether we will catch fire or not. 

‘We live and breathe with this anxiety. From what I see, things are very difficult.’

Earlier, more than 200 people from the town of Agios Vasileios had to be evacuated by sea. 

Around 500 people, mostly tourists, were left stranded after a fire broke out near Agios Vasileios in Viotia, central Greece, on Friday morning and rapidly spread in strong winds, local media reported. 

Footage showed residents and holidaymakers boarding boats as volunteers and rescue teams worked to remove those from the town.

Other videos showed how smoke swirled around in the air as people flocked to board vessels.

People there had previously been told by authorities to move inland before the fire reached the outskirts of the town, according to the BBC.

Wildfires have also affected the Peloponnese peninsula and the islands of Crete, Paros and Lesvos – popular tourist destinations. 

Europe has been ravaged by wildfires this summer after successive record-breaking heatwaves, leaving vast stretches of drought-parched vegetation primed to burn, and forcing hundreds of thousands of people to flee their homes. 

In Italy, authorities put nearly all of its major cities on the highest ‘red’ alert for high temperatures as a new heatwave threatened to grip the country. 

Some 19 cities including Rome, Milan, Venice and Naples will now be on the alert as temperatures are set to hit the mid 30s C next week.

Successive heatwaves have created favourable conditions for wildfires across Europe and Britain.

A wildfire in Suffolk this week burnt 371 acres – equivalent to 210 football pitches and took hold near Britain’s biggest nuclear power station Sizewell B. 

High temperatures can also be unsafe and could be dangerous even to healthy and active people, not just the elderly, the very young or people with chronic illness. 

Austria recorded 395 heat-related deaths in June. Earlier this week, 2,877 people died from heat in Britain so far this year, while France reported 5,664 excess deaths in the country between June 17 and July 2. 

Germany’s health authority recorded around 9,800 deaths this year linked to high temperatures.
