Free Bets: Best Betting Offers 2026 | The Standard
The Standard has pulled together the best free bet offers currently available at UK betting sites. We’ve sourced the top bonuses from all the big names in betting, and some lesser-known operators too, reviewing each in turn to help readers find the best free bet offers for them.
Best free bet offers in 2026
How The Standard evaluates betting offers
A lot goes into our rankings of free bet offers and below are some of the criteria we use when reviewing a free bet promo.
UKGC license: We only recommend betting offers from bookmakers licensed by the UK Gambling Commission. The UKGC enforces fair play, data security and responsible gambling standards, and has the power to fine or even remove an operator’s license if they don’t comply. Offshore or unlicensed sites aren’t regulated by the UKGC and do not offer the same protections.
Welcome offers and ongoing free bet promotions: Most online bookmakers offer a welcome bonus, with the availability of additional free bet promos increasing around major events, such as the World Cup. We look beyond the headline offer and check qualifying stake, minimum odds, market restrictions, winnings caps and expiry windows to make sure the offers provide fair value.
Market depth: A top bookmaker offers a wide range of free bet offers on several events, from the most popular betting sports like horse racing and football, down to the more niche sports. We look at whether a bookmaker is offering markets before an event, what markets they have for individual fixtures and how many options in-play bettors have once the action starts.
Mobile app: Apps are now the preferred option for most punters. We go in depth on iOS and Android ratings for apps before embarking on first-hand testing to assess loading speed, navigation and overall stability. It’s no good having a top betting offer if the app or mobile site doesn’t function well.
Site usability: We examine whether the desktop versions of a betting site are quick, clean and easy to navigate too. A poor user experience can cause us to swerve recommending a free bet, even if the offer is good on the face of it.
Safer gambling tools: UK-licensed bookmakers must offer deposit limits, session limits, reality checks and self-exclusion. These tools should be easy to find and easy to activate, and staff should be trained to recognise problem signs. It’s important to stay in control even if you’re only intending on using free bets as they can become addictive.

There are several ways to unlock free bets on betting sites. Here are some of the more common promotions bettors will find:
Bet and get: The most common type of welcome offer. Place a qualifying cash bet and receive free bet tokens on settlement. Occasionally, the qualifying bet will need to win to unlock the free bets.
Money back special: This offer involves punters betting on a selected event and getting their stake returned as a free bet should their initial wager lose. For racing offers of this type, a bettor’s selection may need to place but not win to earn a refund.
Free bet clubs: A type of loyalty programme. If bettors meet a certain weekly requirement, such as wagering a minimum amount in a week, they can earn free bets in return.
Deposit match: This would see the bookmaker match your first cash deposit with free bets. This type of free bet offer can occasionally carry wagering terms, with bettors needing to wager any winnings from the free bets before it can be withdrawn as cash.
Understanding free bet offer terminology
It’s vital to read the terms and conditions of any free bet offers as they often contain important information on how to unlock the bonus and what it can be wagered on.
Some of the language in those T&Cs can be a little unusual for those unfamiliar with the world of online gambling. Here’s our guide to the most common betting terms used in free bet offers.
Wagering: Most commonly used when claiming any casino bonuses, wagering has crept into sports betting as well. Wagering requirements refer to how many times a bettor must wager any bonus funds before they become eligible for withdrawal. Readers can find out more about wagering requirements on our dedicated page.
Tokens/credits: Most bookmakers will divide the total free bet amount from a welcome offer into smaller denominations, referred to as tokens or credits. Bettors may need to select these tokens on a betslip to use them when placing a wager.
Qualifying bet: The wager a punter must place to unlock the free bets. Make sure to check the minimum odds and bet type required, if specified by the bookie.
Minimum odds: Betting sites often set a limit on how low the odds can be for a qualifying bet. The bet must have equal or higher odds than the specified minimum, so if it the T&Cs state a qualifying bet must have odds of 3/1 or greater, a wager placed at odds of 2/1 will be deemed ineligible and may invalidate the offer.
Maximum winnings: Some bookmakers put a limit on how much bettors can win from a free bet or offer. These are most common on accumulator boosts. Bookmakers will payout to the limit, but won’t go over it if a winning bet exceeds that amount.
Void bet: A void bet is one that is cancelled and your stake is returned, usually because the event didn’t take place. Any qualifying bet that is voided won’t be considered eligible for a free bet offer.
The majority of welcome offers from betting sites follow a familiar pattern. Here’s a general overview of how to unlock free bets that come as part of a sign-up offer.
- Choose a bookmaker from the above list.
- Register with your personal details and verify your identity as the operator requires.
- Make a qualifying deposit and place your first cash bet at or above the operator’s minimum stake and odds requirements.
- Once the bet has been settled, free bet tokens will be credited to your account. If they do not appear automatically, check the promotions or my account section of the website.
- To use the free bets, find a wager and select your free bet at the bet slip stage. Be aware that the free bet stake will not be returned with your winnings.
Free bets – frequently asked questions
Which betting apps give free bets?
Most major UK betting sites offer free bets as part of their new customer welcome promotions, and these will often be available through their apps.
Qualifying stakes and relevant terms and conditions vary by operator. Always remember to check that your betting app is licensed by the UK Gambling Commission before signing up.
Can you withdraw free bet winnings?
Free bet stakes are not returned with your winnings, only the profit is withdrawable.
For instance, using a £10 free bet on a winning selection at odds of 3/1 would return £30, rather than £40.
Are there free bets with no deposit required?
No deposit free bets exist in the UK market but are exceedingly rare and will often offer much lower value than those that do require a deposit.
All offers featured on this page require a qualifying deposit and bet, as is standard for highest-value deals.
In most cases, a bettor must first complete a qualifying step, such as depositing a certain amount in their account and placing a bet at particular odds.
They then receive free bet credits in their account, which can be used on select markets without risking their own money.
If the bet wins, the bettor gets to keep the profit but not the stake.
Do free bets have wagering requirements?
Most bookmakers apply no wagering requirements at all on betting offers, though it’s commonplace to have wagering requirements on online casinos.
Make sure to read individual terms and conditions before signing up.
What apps offer £10 free bets in the UK?
A number of betting apps in the UK offer at least £10 in free bets. For example, new customers of William Hill can download their app, register and place a £10 bet and they’ll be rewarded with three £10 free bet tokens if they meet the qualifying criteria. Always check the terms before diving in.

EastEnders star Natalie Cassidy’s daughter breaks arm again
The 43-year-old actress, best known for playing NHS nurse Sonia Fowler on the BBC soap, spoke candidly on her Life With Nat podcast about her daughter Joaine’s recent accident.
Joaine, nine, broke her arm in a fall at school, just eight weeks after having metalwork removed from the same arm following a previous injury.
Also appearing on the podcast, Natalie’s fiancé, EastEnders cameraman Marc Humphreys, said: “Just in the hottest week of the year, we’ve just had to spend two days in a hospital.”
Former EastEnders star Natalie Cassidy reveals she was close to having a ‘nervous breakdown’
Natalie said: “Joaine’s broken her arm again, everybody.
“Same arm, smashed to pieces.
“General anaesthetic, same operation.”
The incident happened on June 23, during what the family had hoped would be a relaxing week at home in the sunshine.
Natalie said she felt she was close to a “nervous breakdown” as she “really fell to pieces” after her daughter “slipped over in the hall before doing PE.”
She said: “I felt I was going to have a nervous breakdown, actually, on Tuesday.
“I’m being really honest with people here. I really fell to pieces.
“I was not in a good place. Just her little body, and the medication and the trauma of it all.”
Natalie explained Joaine’s full history of injuries and treatments to listeners.
She said: “A few years ago, she broke her arm, and it was a clean break.
“She then broke it again, and they put all the metal work in.
“And then eight weeks ago, she went under general anaesthetic, had it all out, and has done it again.”
Natalie and Marc thought that “some sort of deficiency” was causing Joaine’s frequent injuries.
But Natalie said: “She’s had full blood tests, and everything is in range.
“It’s absolutely perfect.
“The consultant actually said, ‘I do think it’s just really bad luck.’”
She praised hospital staff for their care, especially as they worked during a heatwave that saw temperatures hit 37.7°C.
She said: “The hospital was quite warm for the few days we were in there.
“The staff working in that… they’re not moaning, they’re laughing, they’re joking.
“Just wonderful, wonderful people. We were so well looked after again.
Do you know what else these EastEnders stars have done?
“It’s like a little trip, now. It’s like being in a hotel!”
Marc said medical staff recognised Joaine from previous visits.
He said: “The anaesthetist knew her. They all know Joaine.
“The anaesthetist even said, ‘Oh, I’ve done the bandage on the bear again like I did last time.’”
Natalie added: “I went down to theatre.
“I said, ‘Hello, Barbara.’ I mean, who, in their right mind, knows the f****** people in the hospital?”
Ms Cassidy also praised Joaine for her resilience.
She said: “She’s had her medicine, she’s got her fan. She’s watching the telly, and she’s a bit fed up.
“But she gets on with it, really. She’s so brave.”
Natalie is also mum to Eliza, whom she shares with her ex-partner Adam Cottrell.

Hack using two household items to keep flies away from home
Throughout the summer, it is likely that you will have your windows open more often meaning you might see an increase of flies entering your home.
Flies also have high birth rates during the summer thanks to the warmer temperatures making it easy for them to quickly multiply.
They can also be difficult to get rid of without using insect sprays or fly swat.

What is the trick to keep flies out of your home?
Sharan, from @sharanslife on TikTok, has shared a simple hack to keep flies from coming into your home.
Sharan said: “It’s summertime in the UK and houseflies are coming in from all sorts of directions.
“So I’m going to give you a hack on how to keep them away and all you need is a lemon and some cloves.”
The two items are inexpensive and easy to find in the shops but you may already have them in your house .
She takes the lemon and cuts them in half before putting the cloves in the flesh of the lemon halves.
The lemon halves can then be placed near windows or on tables around the house to deter flies from coming in.
You could also just place them in areas where you spot a lot of flies.
The hack works because of the lemons citrusy scent that is unappealing to flies, as it is a strong smell.

The cloves contain eugenol, which has a sharp and spicy scent that flies also dislike.
You will have to keep an eye on the lemons and swap them out every few days, as when they dry out, they will not repel the flies anymore.

Critics Slam Shabana Mahmoods Plan To Charge Asylum Seekers
Shabana Mahmood has been accused of “performative cruelty” over plans to charge asylum seekers for the cost of their accommodation.
The home secretary said the £4 billion the government the government spent on housing refugees last year was “too high”.
She wants asylum seekers to pay up to £10,000 once they are earning enough money. It is not yet known what that salary threshold will be.
Under measures to be unveiled in the new Immigration and Asylum Bill being unveiled on Tuesday, they must pay off the full amount they owe before they can be eligible to settle in the UK permanently.
Mahmood said: “We have already reduced asylum costs by £1 billion, but it is also right that we ask those who can contribute to do so,” she added.
“Receiving asylum support is a right, but it is also a responsibility. Once people can contribute and repay the generosity of the British people, we expect them to do so.”
But Zoe Dexter, of the human rights charity the Helen Bamber Foundation, said the plan amounted to “more performative cruelty from the government”.
“Charging refugees around £10,000 once they finally find work is the opposite of integration,” she said.
“These are people who have fled persecution and extreme violence, often arriving with nothing, before spending months or years in overcrowded, dilapidated accommodation, sometimes facing intimidation and violent protests outside the places they are housed.
“Burdening them with debt just as they begin rebuilding their lives is grossly unjust and entirely self-defeating.”
Imran Hussain, of the Refugee Council, said: “Imposing what amounts to an extra tax on refugees, who the Home Office accepts have arrived here after fleeing persecution, torture and war, is unfair, impractical and make it much harder for families to rebuild their lives and stand on their own feet.
“The reason why many need asylum support is because the Home Office itself bans asylum seekers from working while their claims are being assessed.
“Asylum support is only given to people who are at risk of being destitute, so this new financial burden would only harm those who arrive on our shores with nothing.”

Lily Allen Defends West End Girl Tour After Criticism
The discourse surrounding Lily Allen’s ongoing tour has once again reared its head.
Last year, the Brit Award winner unveiled her critically-acclaimed fifth album West End Girl, claiming at the time that the project was designed to be listened to straight through from start to finish, rather than fans cherry-picking their personal favourites or playing it on shuffle.
With that in mind, when Lily began her tour in support of the project – aptly titled Lily Allen Performs West End Girl – earlier this year, much was made of the fact that the show saw the Smile singer performing West End Girl in its entirety, before leaving the stage.
This followed a section where a string orchestra played a selection of Lily’s hits from her first three albums, with concert-goers being encouraged to sing along karaoke-style.
As a result, Lily’s section of the show clocked in at around an hour, and while some took issue with this at the time, most reviews of the show from both fans and critics were positive (you can read HuffPost UK’s review of Lily Allen Performs West End Girl here).

Now that Lily has kicked off the arena leg of the tour, her show is once again facing scrutiny, with one journalist for the Spectator writing on X that she’d been on stage for 50 minutes, had “no support act”, spoken “not one word to the audience” and charged “£86 [for a seat] in the gods”.
Lily responded on Monday night, pointing out that “there is a support act” and that her show “has always been advertised as Lily Allen Performs West End Girl.”
She explained: “I was a few [minutes] late as my tights were laddered and I had to change them. The show is just over an hour as it’s just the album in its entirety.
“It’s my artistic choice not to talk to the audience, the fourth wall helps with the storytelling. Most people find it to be effective.”
The chart-topping star added: “I don’t want anyone to feel ripped off, everyone on this tour is really working very hard to give people the best show we possibly can, and I’m extremely proud of it.”
Lily previously addressed her critics back in March.
When one fan claimed that the British star was the subject of a “smear campaign” that had come “out of nowhere”, she wrote back: “Oh it’s coming from somewhere, but we move!”
A follow-up post saw her speculating that “bots” could be behind some of the negative comments being shared about her online.

Defence investment plan LIVE: Keir Starmer launches ‘game-changing’ boost to armed forces
Dan Jarvis, the new defence secretary, has spent his two weeks in the job “refocusing” the Dip, Downing Street said, so that it will get the “latest kit” into the hands of the armed forces.
The Defence Secretary said: “Our armed forces are serving at an increasingly dangerous and unpredictable time. We are determined to give them what they need as they serve with courage and exceptional skill to keep us safe.
“The character of warfare is rapidly changing. In Ukraine and the Middle East, uncrewed systems are defining conflicts.
“This largest ever UK investment into these evolving technologies will help our armed forces stay ahead of our adversaries, backed by the best of our defence industry.
We are giving our extraordinary people the equipment they need to fight and win.”
Britain has been closely watching the use of drones in the theatre of war in Ukraine, where some 200,000 are now used each month to defend against Russian forces, and in Iran, where around 700 drones were launched each day at the height of its war with the US and Israel.

A show insider has confirmed the role is currently only a guest but said the future of her character is still uncertain, according to The Sun.
They said: “With her pedigree, bagging Frances is a huge coup for Corrie bosses.
“She’s an iconic actress who steals every scene she’s in. It’s only a guest role for now but who knows what could happen in the future.”
The actress has also appeared in a huge number of iconic shows including Father Brown, Doctor Who, Benidorm, and The IT Crowd.
Between 2012 and 2014, she spent time on the legal crime drama Silk where she played Caroline Warwick QC.
She has also had roles in many films dating back to 1982 when she appeared in The Missionary.
She can be seen in Film Stars Don’t Due in Liverpool, Mr Holmes, and the recently released Virginia Woolf’s Night and Day.
She is best known for her various roles in theatre including playing Billie Trix in Musik and Nurse Ratched in One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.
Frances also appeared alongside Sir Ian McKellen and Roger Allam in the Old Vic’s pantomime production of Aladdin.
A date for when Frances’ character will be introduced to the show has not been confirmed.
