Bitcoin has suffered one of its most severe corrections in months, crashing nearly 18% in just four days and falling to a four-month low near $60,500. Sometimes it’s hard to distinguish whether something is a necessity or we just want that thing. Financial Literacy for Kids provides the basics about needs versus wants, budgeting, credit versus debit, and more. The points are easy to follow and understand. By the end, students will receive a good foundation of these points of financial literacy.

A need is something that is necessary to survival. Food, water, and shelter are needs because we need those things to survive. Wants include much more, from toys and books to phones and cars. While it can be difficult to tell the difference sometimes, these definitions will help you find the answer.

The video also reviews the concepts of saving versus borrowing. Saving money is something we do so that we can eventually buy something we want, like a new bike. This can take time. If you want something more immediately, you can borrow money. Borrowing money, however, means that you have to pay back the money you borrowed over time. And sometimes you have to pay interest.

Budgeting is a very helpful tool to help control or manage our finances. A budget designates a certain amount of money to go toward certain things. For instance, perhaps you budget $50 for food for a week. If you spend more money on food than you budgeted for that week, you may have to save money somewhere else to ensure you don’t spend more money than you have and go into debt.

Did you know the Philippine money is evolving?
Let’s start with the 20-peso bill. Manuel Quezon remains featured on the bill—but now there’s also a 20-peso coin in circulation.
The 50-peso bill? It used to feature Sergio Osmeña, but the new polymer version swapped him out for the Visayan leopard cat.
The 100-peso bill also got a fresh look. Manuel Roxas was replaced by the Palawan peacock-pheasant.
The 200-peso bill remains unchanged, with Diosdado Macapagal still on paper.
The new 500-peso bill now features the Visayan spotted deer, replacing Ninoy and Cory Aquino.
And finally, the 1,000-peso bill now shows the majestic Philippine eagle, replacing the historic hero trio.
On the back of the new bills, you’ll notice some transparent elements and updated back designs, but most landmarks and featured animals remain.
From heroes to wildlife, these new bills are beautiful—and truly a work of art.
