Athletic Expenses, Profit/Loss for Top Schools in the West
In the age of NIL and revenue sharing, athletic department profit or loss is a major indicator of current and future college sports success.
Revenue is a big part of that, but keeping expenses down can help mitigate the situation.
The table below shows the total revenue, expenses, and profit or loss in millions of dollars for each of the top schools in the West, according to Mapping College Athletics.
Profit or loss data is not available for Air Force, USC, and Stanford.

Canterbury Bulldogs vs Melbourne Storm Preview
Canterbury and Melbourne meet at Accor Stadium on Friday night with both clubs facing very different expectations despite sitting outside the competition’s top contenders. The Bulldogs are under mounting pressure after slipping to five straight defeats, with last week’s loss to Cronulla exposing ongoing defensive issues and a lack of attacking polish. Cameron Ciraldo’s side now faces another major challenge without captain Stephen Crichton, although the return of Jacob Kiraz provides a timely boost out wide. Melbourne, meanwhile, continued its strong recent form with a comfortable win over Parramatta during Magic Round and has largely dominated this fixture in recent seasons. The Storm will be heavily affected by Origin duties, losing key stars including Cameron Munster and Harry Grant, forcing Craig Bellamy to rely on several younger players. Even so, Melbourne’s depth and recent record against Canterbury make the visitors difficult to overlook heading into Friday’s clash.

All-Ireland Camogie Championships Step Up As 16 Counties Enter The Fray
Following Offaly’s dramatic victory over Wexford in last Saturday’s opener, the Glen Dimplex All-Ireland Championships move up a gear this weekend, with senior, intermediate and junior action across the country.
Senior Championship: Group 2 Takes Centre Stage
In the senior grade, the 2025 semi-finalists are seeded in Group 1, which begins in a fortnight. That leaves Group 2 in the spotlight this weekend, where six teams are battling for two All-Ireland quarter-final places.
With Offaly already off the mark, Clare, Dublin, Kilkenny and Limerick will all be looking to make the perfect start.
Clare v Dublin
Saturday, 2pm
Zimmer Biomet Páirc Chíosóg
These sides met in last month’s Centra Camogie League Division 1B final, where Clare came out on top by 3-11 to 0-17.
Eugene Foudy’s side also pushed Waterford to extra-time in Munster, a clear sign of progress after losing to the Déise by ten points last summer.
Lorna McNamara was the star of that league final win, hitting 2-6, and Clare will again look to her scoring power.
Dublin, meanwhile, will feel they have a point to prove after a frustrating Leinster final defeat to Wexford, where a nine-point half-time lead disappeared before the Model County won in extra-time.
Kilkenny v Limerick
Saturday, 3:30pm
UPMC Nowlan Park
Live on Camogie Association YouTube
Kilkenny have enjoyed a busy month across the grades, winning an All-Ireland minor crown and also featuring in U23A and U16A finals.
The seniors suffered a shock Leinster semi-final defeat to Wexford, but they will still see themselves as frontrunners in Group 2.
Limerick have been difficult to read in 2026. They narrowly missed out on a Division 1B final place before suffering a heavy Munster semi-final defeat to eventual winners Tipperary.
A statement performance on Nore-side would transform their summer.
Live Stream
Kilkenny v Limerick will be shown live on the Camogie Association’s YouTube channel at 3:30pm on Saturday.
Intermediate Championship Fixtures
The Glen Dimplex Intermediate Championship promises to be one of the most intriguing competitions of the summer.
| Group | Fixture | Time | Venue |
|---|---|---|---|
| Group 1 | Kerry v Down | 2pm Sunday | Austin Stack Park |
| Group 1 | Derry v Antrim | 3:30pm Sunday | Doire Trasna |
| Group 2 | Laois v Carlow | 3:30pm Sunday | Laois Hire O’Moore Park |
| Group 2 | Meath v Westmeath | 3:30pm Sunday | Donaghmore-Ashbourne |
Antrim are widely tipped to go all the way after an impressive Division 1A league campaign, which included a major away win over Cork.
Kerry, last year’s beaten finalists, will also fancy their chances as they host Down in a repeat of the 2025 semi-final.
Laois will look to build on last year’s Premier Junior success, while the all-Leinster Group 2 should be tightly contested.
Junior Championship Returns
The Glen Dimplex All-Ireland Junior Championship returns for 2026, with Mayo, Louth, Monaghan and Donegal all fielding teams.
| Fixture | Time | Venue |
|---|---|---|
| Mayo v Louth | 3:30pm Saturday | Tooreen |
| Monaghan v Donegal | 3:30pm Saturday | Clontibret |
Mayo defeated Monaghan in the Division 3B final earlier this year and will hope to add further silverware this summer.
Monaghan, meanwhile, return with a senior team for the first time in 15 years, adding another strong storyline to the junior championship.
Weekend Verdict
The senior spotlight falls firmly on Group 2, where Clare and Dublin could produce one of the games of the weekend, while Kilkenny will be expected to respond strongly after their Leinster setback.
At intermediate level, Antrim carry serious expectation, Kerry remain dangerous, and Group 2 looks wide open. The return of the junior championship also adds welcome depth to a busy Glen Dimplex All-Ireland weekend.

Tuchel Names England World Cup Squad as Saka, Kane, Rashford Lead 26-Man Team
England manager Thomas Tuchel has unveiled his 26-man squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with several big names included and a few notable omissions.
Bukayo Saka, Declan Rice and Eberechi Eze were all selected after impressive performances this season for Arsenal.
Captain Harry Kane also made the squad after another strong campaign with Bayern Munich, while Marcus Rashford kept his place despite spending the season on loan at FC Barcelona from Manchester United.
Ivan Toney earned a call-up after returning to the England setup, while Ollie Watkins and Anthony Gordon were also included in attack.
In midfield, Jude Bellingham headlines the list alongside Kobbie Mainoo, Jordan Henderson, Morgan Rogers and Elliot Anderson.
Tuchel also handed places to defenders Dan Burn and Nico O’Reilly, while John Stones was included despite an injury-hit season at Manchester City.
Djed Spence also made the squad after impressing for Tottenham Hotspur. Reports say the defender suffered a broken jaw recently but is expected to wear a protective mask if needed.
Other defenders selected include Marc Guehi, Reece James, Ezri Konsa, Tino Livramento and Jarell Quansah.
Goalkeepers named in the squad are Dean Henderson, Jordan Pickford and James Trafford.
Several players missed out on selection, including Luke Shaw, Fikayo Tomori, Levi Colwill and Harry Maguire.

WWE: BREAKING: WWE’s Stance On Ludwig Kaiser Situation Seemingly Revealed
Ludwig Kaiser has become a major talking point for WWE fans over the past few days, but it seems that the situation has now been handled, and he will still be available for Noche De Los Grandes next Saturday.
It was reported earlier today that the filing to allow international travel for Ludwig Kaiser had been approved, which will allow him to continue his scheduled work in WWE.
Thanks for the submission!
While the police report has been made public information, it seems that there could have been a few things that were left off. Raj Guri recently noted that there were threats from the victim about his girlfriend, Andrea Bazarte, and ICE. It was also then noted that no punches were thrown.
Sean Ross Sapp has also shared this update and noted that this is both WWE’s and Kaiser’s version of events, which is yet to be officially verified.
It seems that there is a lot more to this situation than first reported, but the positive news is that Kaiser has been allowed to move forward, and WWE appears to be allowing him to continue being part of the biggest match of his career.
Ludwig Kaiser is now allowed to travel internationally
Ludwig Kaiser was in Mexico when it was revealed that there was an arrest warrant, which led to him returning to the United States and being arrested earlier this week.
The incident itself happened back in April, and it appears that things have since followed this week. As already noted, his attorneys were quick to ensure that he would still be able to travel despite the current charges against him because he is an international star who needs to be able to appear at shows when he is needed.
His mask vs mask match at Noche De Las Grandes against The Original El Grande Americano is one of the biggest matches of his career and a huge platform for AAA. It’s been made clear that he needs to be part of this event, and it seems that WWE is making sure that can happen.
As of yet, it’s unclear if WWE will share a statement on the arrest itself or move past it.

Thunder (+105) vs. Spurs
The Thunder won Wednesday’s Game 2, 122-113, after dropping Game 1 in the series. The defending champion Thunder had the best record in the NBA for the second straight season, going 64-18, including the league’s best road record (30-10). The Thunder are 4-0 away this postseason and 9-1 overall during the playoffs, with the majority of those games without Jalen Williams, who reinjured his hamstring in Game 2. However, the Spurs could be shorthanded as well, as Dylan Harper, the No. 2 overall pick in last year’s NBA Draft who has elevated his play during the postseason, left with a leg injury. The Thunder had the No. 2 scoring defense (107.8 points per game allowed) this season, and that defense often travels on the road. The Thunder need to win at least one game in San Antonio to return to the NBA Finals, and the model gives a 60% chance of that win coming Friday. Back the Thunder by claiming the latest BetMGM promo code CBSSPORTS here:
Golden Knights (+165) vs. Avalanche
The Golden Knights never trailed in their Game 1 victory, which resulted in a 4-2 final where Vegas kept Colorado off the scoreboard for the first two periods. Vegas is 5-1 over its last six road games this postseason, including winning its last two by a combined score of 9-3. Vegas has won each of its last two games against the Avalanche, both coming in Colorado, and although the Avalanche win in the majority of simulations, the model suggests those seeking the best value side with Vegas. The Golden Knights win in 41% of simulations, showcasing value compared to their implied odds of 38.46%. Back the Golden Knights by claiming the latest BetMGM promo code CBSSPORTS here:
Royals (+115) vs. Mariners
It’s been a tough 10-game stretch for the Royals, who are 1-9 over that span, but they are facing a Mariners team that hasn’t been red-hot lately either. Seattle is 2-4 over its last six games and is starting Logan Gilbert, who hasn’t been his best version lately. Gilbert has a 5.30 ERA in three May starts, and he’s coming off allowing seven runs in 6 2/3 innings against the Padres on Saturday. The Royals are starting Noah Cameron, who tossed 4 2/3 shutout innings in his one start against Seattle last season, as he finished with a 2.99 ERA in 24 starts. The Royals are home underdogs, and they are 6-5 as home underdogs this season. The model projects Kansas City to win in 52% of simulations, creating value at plus-money odds. Reds aim for consistency in series opener vs. Cardinals
May 20, 2026; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA; Cincinnati Reds infielder Sal Stewart (27) tosses his bat after hitting a two-run home run against the Philadelphia Phillies in the ninth inning at Citizens Bank Park. Mandatory Credit: Kyle Ross-Imagn Images Few teams have been as perplexing as the Cincinnati Reds, who begin a three-game series against the visiting St. Louis Cardinals on Friday.
St. Louis is starting a six-game road trip after losing two of three to the Pittsburgh Pirates, including a 6-2 defeat on Thursday. The Cardinals have gone 15-8 away from Busch Stadium this season.
Cincinnati ended the month of April atop the National League Central standings with a 20-11 record before losing 13 of its next 17 games.
The Reds showed signs of returning to their early-season form this week by taking two of three from the Philadelphia Phillies, including a 9-4 victory in the finale on Wednesday. Cincinnati had a total of 22 hits in the last two games of the series to slow down the streaking Phillies.
“We know we’re a good team,” Reds pitcher Andrew Abbott said. “We saw what we did the first month or so of the season. There’s no reason we can’t go do it again. I know we’ve been scuffling, but that’s not an excuse to not show up and not be ready to play.”
Rookie infielder Sal Stewart emerged from a brief slump by collecting seven hits, five runs and two homers in the series. He went 4-for-5 with a two-run homer while scoring three times in the Wednesday win.
“The really good hitters I’ve been around, when they’re 0-for, they know they’re going to hit,” Reds manager Terry Francona said. “Sal knows he’s a good hitter. He has been a good hitter since everywhere.”
The Thursday pitching matchup features a pair of right-handers as Cincinnati’s Chris Paddack (0-5, 7.07 ERA) faces St. Louis’ Kyle Leahy (5-3, 3.94).
Paddack, 30, made a successful Reds debut on Saturday, allowing two runs over five innings in no-decision against the Cleveland Guardians.
Cincinnati signed Paddack after he was released by the Miami Marlins earlier this month. He threw 56 of his 78 pitches against Cleveland for strikes.
Paddack is 1-1 with a 3.44 ERA in four career starts against St. Louis. He gave up five runs over 4 2/3 innings in a 5-3 loss to the Cardinals while pitching for Miami on April 21.
St. Louis will counter with Leahy, 28, who allowed one run over a career-high six innings in a 4-2 home win over the Kansas City Royals on Saturday.
“He had a really good feeling for all his pitches,” Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol said. “I thought he did a phenomenal job. For him to be as efficient as he was and fill up the zone and do what he did was incredibly important.”
Spencer Steer is 1-for-6 against Leahy, who has a 6.30 ERA in eight career appearances (all in relief) covering 10 innings vs. Cincinnati.
The Cardinals are looking to snap a two-game skid after being outscored 13-2 in back-to-back losses to Pittsburgh. One bright spot has been the play of catcher Ivan Herrera, who has homered in two of his last three games, including a walk-off shot in the 10th inning on Tuesday.
“He’s seeing it well,” Marmol said. “He’s staying within himself and not trying to do too much, and that’s when he’s at his best.”

Everton boss David Moyes gives update on Jack Grealish’s future amid injury recovery
David Moyes has affirmed Everton’s commitment to winger Jack Grealish, stating the club “will continue doing our best” for him as he rehabilitates from a broken bone in his foot.
Grealish, who has been sidelined since mid-January, is unusually continuing his treatment with the Toffees rather than returning to parent club Manchester City, a common practice for long-term loan injuries.
The 30-year-old has one year remaining on his contract, with Moyes indicating that future plans would be assessed in the summer.
“We’ve got a few plans in place. Finances will obviously play a big part in it so we will need to navigate round the best we can,” Moyes said.
“Obviously we like Jack a lot. We’ve looked after Jack all the time since his injury. It’s looking in good order now, the surgeon speaks very well about it and thinks it’s healing greatly.”
Moyes acknowledged the deviation from standard procedure, adding: “Normally a player would go back to his parent club and be looked after from there, but we will continue doing our best for Jack.
“He is incredibly well liked inside and outside the building but ultimately he is not our player, he is Man City’s player. We’ve had him on loan for a year and I have to say we’ve enjoyed having him.”
Grealish previously spent four years at City after signing for the club for £100 million from Aston Villa in 2021.
The English winger played a key role in City’s 2022-23 campaign when Pep Guardiola’s men won a historic treble.
However, he struggled to find consistent form, leading to him being loaned out to Everton last summer.
Grealish started the season strongly at Hill Dickinson Stadium, swiftly winning the fans over, but his campaign was brought to a premature end when he got injured in January.
The injury ended his hopes of making Thomas Tuchel’s England squad, which was announced on Friday morning.
The German boss named Anthony Gordon and Marcus Rashford as his left wingers, with Eberechi Eze also providing cover in this position.
In other news, Moyes also revealed that the club is “very close” to finalising a contract extension for left-back Vitalii Mykolenko.
