David Haye names the hardest puncher he ever faced: “He was noticeably different”
Former cruiserweight and heavyweight world champion David Haye has revealed which man hit him hardest during his 32-fight professional career.
Haye established himself as one of the biggest punchers in the cruiserweight division during the 2000s, with his first 16 victories all coming inside of the distance, as the Bermondsey-born operator announced himself on the big stage.
In 2007, Haye knocked out Jean Marc Mormeck to get his hands on the unified WBA and WBC cruiserweight world titles, with his only defence of those belts coming in a title unification against WBO champion Enzo Maccarinelli, before moving up to heavyweight.
The Brit needed just one fight before challenging Russian giant Nikolai Valuev for the WBA heavyweight world title and claiming a majority-decision win. He defended that belt twice, then suffered a second career defeat, losing a wide decision to the legendary Wladimir Klitschko.
Speaking to Jack Figg, Haye admitted that the imposing Valuev was the biggest puncher he ever faced.
“Valuev [was the hardest puncher that I faced]. The few shots that I did take from Valuev, it was noticeably different. Because he was so big, seven-foot [and] 150 kilos, he didn’t have to load up with punches. He is just naturally bigger so he kind of just flicks his arm out.
“I noticed that very quick, he wasn’t as slow as I hoped he would be. So, I had to really, really stay switched on to not feel that power.”
Haye retired with a record of 28-4 after consecutive defeats to Tony Bellew, with injuries hampering him in both of those losses.

George Russell backs Lewis Hamilton’s take on why the 2026 F1 regulations will be good for racing
George Russell has backed a comment made by Lewis Hamilton regarding the new Formula 1 regulations, which are set to take effect in 2026.
The FIA has introduced several changes for 2026, including cars that are smaller and lighter, with a greater emphasis on battery power. The aim is to make racing more exciting and improve the overall spectacle.

But not everyone is convinced. Max Verstappen has been vocal in his criticism, calling the new rules ‘anti-driving’ and suggesting they could harm the sport more than help it.
The Dutchman didn’t hold back, even likening the changes to playing Mario Kart rather than real racing. After Verstappen’s remarks following the Japanese Grand Prix, there were reports he might consider leaving F1 at the end of 2026.
George Russell pushes back against negative feedback on F1’s 2026 rule changes
Russell spoke recently on the BBC’s Chequered Flag podcast about the backlash against F1’s new rule changes.
The 28-year-old noted that he doesn’t share the same outlook as some of his fellow drivers, including Verstappen, who compared the new era to ‘Mario Kart’.

Russell also pointed out a ‘great point’ Hamilton made in favour of the 2026 regulations.
He said: “I definitely don’t share that at all. I’m personally really enjoying the car. The power unit and the engine are definitely different. And it just needs some fine-tuning to really optimise it.
“But it’s given an opportunity to battle harder, and back-and-forth racing. We’re here at a kart track now. And Lewis made a great point – in a kart race, you overtake one corner, he overtakes back. And they overtake again.
“And no one’s ever called that Mario Kart or yo-yo racing or whatever the terminology is. We actually call it pure racing and great racing. It’s easy to highlight things we don’t like and forget about a lot of the goodness of it.”

George Russell confident that new rule tweaks will benefit F1 drivers
Speaking ahead of the Miami Grand Prix, Russell explained why he believes the changes will make life easier for everyone involved.
“There are some small quirks, which the FIA have done their best to eradicate those quirks. These are details that are sort of so complicated, and honestly, fans don’t really need to understand,” he said.
“From this race forward, with these minor changes the sport are making, it will make our life easier. We’ll be flat out in the straights on a qualifying lap, and we won’t have to lift off to manage any of the energy.”

With the first test of these tweaks set for Miami, fans and teams alike will be watching closely to see if they deliver as promised.

2026 NFL Draft Day 2 winners and losers: Eagles’ Howie Roseman works magic again
After unveiling some winners and losers for the first round of the draft on Thursday, we are back with more, and this time, we have two rounds to work with, so it’s going to be twice the fun.
Eagles general manager Howie Roseman made our winners list on Thursday, and once again, he’s also on the winners list. I wonder if he ever gets tired of winning. Roseman is the only person who made the list two days in a row.
The second day of the draft was a wild one because we saw one player get free ketchup for life and we also saw the second round go by with zero running backs or quarterbacks getting selected, marking the first time in 23 years that’s happened.
With that in mind, let’s get to our winners and losers, starting with Howie Roseman.
2026 NFL Draft essentials
Winners
Eagles GM Howie Roseman
At this point, we might just have to name the “winners” section after Howie Roseman because he always ends up here. We put him here after the first round, we put him here last year and I’m pretty sure we put him here the year before that. I can’t remember a year when we didn’t have him as a winner.
This time around, he’s a winner because he pulled off a blockbuster trade for Jonathan Greenard in the middle of the second round. To make the deal happen, Roseman just had to send two third-round picks to Minnesota. For the Eagles, this trade makes a lot of sense. The Eagles were in desperate need of some pass-rushing help after losing several key defensive players this offseason, including Jaelan Phillips and Nakobe Dean. Roseman didn’t love his options in the draft, so he went out and got Greenard and then they turned around and signed the linebacker to a four-year, $100 million extension.
Although Greenard dealt with a shoulder injury in 2025 that caused him to miss several games, the 28-year-old has recorded at least 12 sacks in two of his past three seasons. This is another case of the rich getting richer.
Offensive weapons
When I say offensive weapons here, I’m specifically referring to wide receivers and tight ends. Both positions have been drafted at a historical pace through three rounds.
There have been 17 receivers taken so far in the draft, which is tied for the most through three rounds in draft history. Of that total, 12 were taken on Day 2. The Browns led the charge when it comes to drafting receivers: They became the first team since 1996 to use two top 40 picks on the position, taking KC Concepcion (24th overall) and Denzel Boston (39th overall). We handed out an ‘A’ or an ‘A-‘ to seven different teams that drafted a receiver on Day 2, so we were big fans of most of the moves that went down.
Tight end was also a popular position to draft on Day 2. There were seven tight ends taken through the first 75 picks, which was the most since 1973. Overall, nine tight ends were taken in the first three rounds, tying the most in NFL history (the last time we saw nine came in 2023). At one point on Friday, four tight ends got taken in a span of eight picks.
All those tight ends can probably thank Sean McVay. The Rams coach started running more 13 personnel last year, which calls for having three tight ends on the field, and he had so much success that other teams started doing it more. The NFL is a copycat league, which might explain why everyone drafted a tight end on Day 2, including McVay’s Rams (Max Klare). Even the Bears drafted a tight end (Sam Roush) and they made the move even though they already have Cole Kmet and Colston Loveland on their roster.
The belief that defense wins championships
Someone once said that defense wins championships and I’m starting to think that person might have been right. Yes, I did just point out all of the offensive weapons that were taken on Friday, but it was defense that dominated the second round. There were a total of 22 defensive players in the round, which was tied for the most in a second round in draft history. At one point, there was a stretch where 13 defensive players were taken in a 14-pick span.
The Texans were one team I certainly took note of. Houston traded up from 38th to 36th to draft Ohio State defensive lineman Kayden McDonald. If defense truly does win championships, then we might just want to give the Lombardi Trophy to the Texans. They already had one of the best defenses in the NFL and it just got even better with the addition of McDonald. The run-stuffing defensive tackle fills one of the few weaknesses that the defense still has.
Another team that’s gone all-in on defense is the Chiefs. Apparently, someone forgot to tell them that you’re allowed to draft offensive players, because, through the first two days, Kansas City has spent all three of its picks on defensive players with CB Mansoor Delane (sixth overall), DL Peter Woods (29th) and EDGE R Mason Thomas (40th). With these picks, the Chiefs’ defense better be good this year, because they’ve done absolutely nothing to help Patrick Mahomes through the first three rounds.
Logan Jones
With the 57th overall pick, the Bears decided to take Iowa center Logan Jones, who might actually end up being the biggest winner of the draft and that’s mainly because he’ll be getting free ketchup for life. In what might go down as the best draft sponsorship of all-time, Heinz decided to give a lifetime supply of ketchup to the 57th player taken in the draft. The company is based in Pittsburgh and with the draft being held in the Steel City, Heinz decided to go all-in.
Jones had no idea that there would be getting free ketchup for being the 57th pick, but he seems totally on board with the giveaway.
This is the worst-case scenario for Heinz because an offensive lineman living in Chicago — where hot dogs are one of the main food groups — might eat $7 million worth of ketchup over the course of his lifetime.
On a non-ketchup note, this is a huge pick for the Bears. With the unexpected retirement of Drew Dalman this offseason, the Bears were definitely in the market for a center and getting Jones at this spot was definitely some solid value. The Bears did make a trade for Garrett Bradbury this offseason, so Jones will be competing with him for the starting job.
Gennings Dunker
If your name is Gennings Dunker, you’re automatically a winner in my book. The Steelers drafted the Iowa offensive lineman with their final pick of the third round and it’s fitting that he went to Pittsburgh, because based on his looks, he might be more suited than any prospect ever to play for the Steelers.
I’m now 99% sure that Aaron Rodgers is going to return, if only just so he can see Dunker’s mullet in person.
Losers
Third round quarterbacks
There were zero quarterbacks drafted in the second round on Friday, but two in the third round. However, that’s not great news for those two, because if there’s one round a quarterback never wants to be drafted in, it’s the third. If you’re a QB taken in the third round, you are essentially doomed to failure and we saw two of them taken in that round on Friday night.
First, the Cardinals took Carson Beck with the opening pick of the third round (65th overall). Eleven picks later, the Steelers drafted Penn State’s Drew Allar.
Over the past 13 years, no QB drafted in the third round has made a Pro Bowl. In all of NFL history, only four quarterbacks drafted in the third round have ended up winning a Super Bowl as a starter (Russell Wilson, Nick Foles, Joe Montana, and Jeff Hostetler).
To give you an idea of how much of a struggle it is to become a successful quarterback after being taken in the third round, here is a list of every QB who has been taken in the third round over the past 10 years:
2016: Jacoby Brissett, Cody Kessler
2017: Davis Webb, C.J. Beathard
2018: Mason Rudolph
2019: Will Grier
2020: NONE
2021: Kellen Mond, Davis Mills
2022: Desmond Ridder, Malik Willis, Matt Corral
2023: Hendon Hooker
2024: NONE
2025: Jalen Milroe, Dillon Gabriel
Both Wilson and Foles were drafted in 2012 and if you eliminate that draft class, there have only been two third-rounders since 2000 who threw at least 80 touchdown passes in their career (Josh McCown and Matt Schaub). When you’re drafted in the third round, you’re a good quarterback, just not quite good enough to have any sustained success in the NFL.
In a wild twist, Allar and Beck will both be joining a former third-round QB. Allar will be in a QB room with Rudolph in Pittsburgh, while Beck will be with Brissett in Arizona.
49ers Day 2 strategy
The 49ers made one of the most shocking picks of the day on Friday when they opened up the second round by taking Ole Miss WR De’Zhaun Stribling at 33rd overall.
The pick might have been the biggest reach of the second round. Stribling was the 19th-ranked receiver on our big board here at CBS Sports and the 120th-ranked overall player. At ESPN, he was ranked as the 15th-best receiver and 76th overall. I don’t think there was a single ranking that had him in the top 70 and the 49ers decided to take him at 33rd overall. The bizarre thing is that this pick wasn’t even out of character for the 49ers because they have a track record of making bad picks on Day 2. It’s like they can’t get out of their own way.
Based on that list, the 49ers might want to start thinking about just trading away all of their Day 2 picks, because nothing seems to be working out for them.
The 33rd pick was a popular one and multiple teams tried to make a trade for it, but the 49ers held on to the pick and selected a player they probably could have gotten in the third or fourth round.
Jermod McCoy
Last year, it was Shedeur Sanders who inexplicably fell out of the first three rounds of the draft. This year, that unfortunate honor belongs to McCoy. The Tennessee cornerback, who was ranked as the SIXTH-best player on Mike Renner’s big board, is still available as the draft gets ready to head into the fourth round. He was projected by most pundits to go in the first or second round, but so far he hasn’t found a single taker.
The big reason for McCoy’s fall seems to be injury-related. McCoy suffered a torn ACL at the end of the 2024 college season and he didn’t play a single snap in 2025. He also didn’t participate at the NFL Combine, which didn’t help his cause. To make matters worse, NFL Network is reporting that he might have to get another knee surgery to replace a bone plug that’s used to repair a cartilage defect in his knee.
At this point, his knee just has too many question marks, and because of that, no one is willing to take a chance on him.
Running backs
The draft got off to a hot start for running backs with Jeremiyah Love and Jadarian both getting taken in the first round. However, things have cooled off considerably since then. There were ZERO running backs taken in the second round, marking the first time in 23 years that there wasn’t a single running back taken in that round. Things didn’t get much better in the third round with just one running back going off the board. That happened when the 49ers selected Kaelon Black with the 90th overall pick. That pick was arguably another Day 2 reach by the 49ers.
We’re not here to roast the 49ers, though; we’re here to talk about running backs. There were only three taken through the first three rounds, which is the fewest ever through three rounds in the Super Bowl era.
The three running backs who were drafted all ended up in the NFC West, meaning no other division has drafted a running back yet.
Although it was an ugly day for running backs, things should improve on Saturday and it won’t be surprising if we see eight to 12 of them go off the board over the final four rounds.
Brotherly Love
The Falcons pulled off one of the coolest picks of the draft when they decided to take Clemson’s CB Avieon Terrell in the second round at 48th overall. The thing that made the pick so cool is that Terrell’s brother, A.J., already plays for the Falcons. The elder Terrell brother has been in Atlanta since 2020 when the Falcons made him the 16th overall pick in the draft.
On the surface, this should be a good thing that they’re playing together and we should probably have them in the winners section, but we have them here because A.J. DOES NOT WANT HIS BROTHER ON HIS TEAM. Earlier this month, the older Terrell was asked about the possibility of the Falcons drafting his younger brother and he was totally against it.
“I want to play against him and see him walk on the sideline,” A.J. told ESPN. “I want to see him play and I want him to have his own story somewhere else. I don’t want the narrative to be the Terrell brothers.”
I have some bad news for you, A.J.: the narrative is going to be the Terrell brothers.
The Terrells are now just the second pair of brothers since 1980 to be drafted by the same team in the first two rounds of separate drafts. The only other time it happened came with Kevin and Andre Dyson. Kevin was the 16th overall pick of the Titans in 1998. Three years later, Tennessee made Andre the 60th overall pick.
Non-Power Four programs
When it comes to college football, there is no more David vs. Goliath because David has been squashed. Now that we’re in the NIL era, it’s become almost impossible for any players from a non-power conference to make it to the NFL. If a player at a smaller college shows some promise, then he’ll just get recruited by a Power Four school, and that will be that.
If this year is any indication, we’re just not going to see very many FCS or Group of Six players get drafted going forward. Through the first three rounds, there were only three players drafted who didn’t attend college in a Power Four conference:
27. Dolphins: CB Chris Johnson (San Diego St.)
58. Browns: S Emmanuel McNeil-Warren (Toledo)
84. Buccaneers: WR Ted Hurst (Georgia St.)
This draft also marked the first time in history that zero FCS players were selected in the first three rounds. There were only 24 players drafted last year that came from a non-power conference, and that number will likely shrink this year. Players are going where the money is and the money is in the Power Four and that’s created a situation where smaller schools are no longer producing NFL-caliber talent.

10 Rookies for the Vikings to Target on Saturday
The Minnesota Vikings have onboarded five rookies since Thursday night: Caleb Banks (DT), Jake Golday (ILB), Domonique Orange (DT), Caleb Tiernan (OT), and Jakobe Thomas (S). It’s time for about four more from Rounds 4 through 7.
Day 3 brings longer odds, but Minnesota still has useful roster paths to chase.
Interim general manager Rob Brzezinski has two picks in Round 5 and two in Round 7 on Saturday, absent a 4th-Rounder because of the 2024 Cam Robinson trade. This list eliminates players who will probably be unavailable because of Round 4 draft stock.
Late-Round Offense and Cornerback Depth Could Be in Play
The prospects are listed in ascending order (No. 1 = top target for the Vikings to consider)
Disclaimer
These players would be fantastic for the Vikings, but probably won’t be on the board at No. 159 — or about 60 picks from the start of Saturday:
- Jonah Coleman (RB)
- Dani Dennis-Sutton (OLB)
- Sam Hecht (C)
- Connor Lew (C)
- Malik Muhammad (CB)
- Chandler Rivers (CB)
If Minnesota has a 4th-Rounder, those four would’ve headlined the list.
10. Eli Heidenreich | RB/WR, Navy
Where the Vikings Could Get Him: Round 6-7
There’s some debate over which position Heidenreich will play in the NFL, with some thinking he’s a slot receiver and others insisting he’s a running back.
We believe a smart offensive coordinator will use Heidenreich as a running back, maybe as a poor man’s Christian McCaffrey. If the current draft trend continues with the Vikings not securing a rookie tailback, they should take a Round 7 flyer on Heidenreich.
9. Mason Reiger | EDGE, Duke
Where the Vikings Could Get Him: Round 7
Reiger actually met with the Vikings, and as an old rookie — 24 in August — he should be more game-ready than most. He scored the defensive MVP and the Shrine Bowl. Minnesota suddenly needs EDGE depth after trading Jonathan Greenard to the Philadelphia Eagles. Tsk tsk.
8. Logan Fano | EDGE, Utah
Where the Vikings Could Get Him: Round 6-7
Fano will also turn 24 this summer, so edit-copy-paste the scribbling above about Reiger. Let’s face it: a 6th- or 7th-Round outside linebacker cannot be trusted to be immediate depth in Brian Flores’s defense, but one EDGE lottery ticket from the draft is better than zero.
7. Eric McAlister | WR, TCU
Where the Vikings Could Get Him: Round 6-7
McAlister is 6’4″ and ran a 4.53 forty. He’s tall and fast. The Horned Frog will need refinement with route-running, separation, and footwork, but that’s what Keenan McCardell is for. In a utopia, McAlister could battle Tai Felton or a free agent to be named later for the vacant WR3 job.
6. Brenen Thompson | WR, Mississippi State
Where the Vikings Could Get Him: Round 5
Thompson has WR3 upside and made Bruce Feldman’s famous “Freaks” list. For a 5th-Rounder and a team that needs a wide receiver, why not use a late-round pick on Thompson? He ran a 4.26 forty — yes, you read that right — at the NFL Combine, which is just unholy fast.
The bad part? He’s 5’10 and 165 pounds. Fans will have to hope that nobody can ever tackle him. He’s tiny.
5. Matt Gulbin | C, Michigan State
Where the Vikings Could Get Him: Round 5
The draft run on centers has already begun, and the Vikings were not part of it. They also don’t have the aforementioned 4th-Round pick, prime territory to draft the “other” two centers in this draft: Connor Lew and Sam Hecht.
So, Minnesota is in a spot of examining players like Gulbin, who will turn 24 in October. He was a team captain at Michigan State and is worth a 5th-Rounder to develop for a year behind Blake Brandel, who appears on deck to start at center in September.
4. Brian Parker II | C/G, Duke
Where the Vikings Could Get Him: Round 4-5
Parker may not be an option for Minnesota; he’s a tweener between Rounds 4 and 5. But he started 32 games in college and is durable. If selected by the Vikings, he could showcase a trait the team loves: versatility. He played tackle at Duke, declaring himself a center for the draft.
3. Domani Jackson | CB, Alabama
Where the Vikings Could Get Him: Round 6-7
A dirty little secret about this draft: the Vikings have drafted no cornerbacks, despite five opportunities. After Byron Murphy Jr., Isaiah Rodgers, and James Pierre on the current depth chart, the club could use an upside youthful alternative.
Jackson could be that guy. He’s 6’1″ and 195 pounds with 4.41 speed. He can play special teams, too. If Alabama trusted him as a two-year starter, Minnesota should spend a 6th- or 7th-Round pick on him.
2. Emmett Johnson | RB, Nebraska
Where the Vikings Could Get Him: Round 4-6
The Vikings met with Johnson a couple of times between the Combine and a Top 30 visit. He’s campaigned on people’s podcasts to join the Vikings because he grew up in Minneapolis.
Johnson ran a 4.56 forty in Indianapolis, which turned heads, and not in a good way. Later, he rebounded at Nebraska’s Pro Day with 4.49 speed. If Johnson tumbles to Round 5, and Jonah Coleman of Washington is not on the board — he probably won’t be — this may be the Vikings’ running back of the future.
1. Nicholas Singleton | RB, Penn State
Where the Vikings Could Get Him: Round 5-6
Go to YouTube and watch some Nick Singleton tape. It’s dazzling. Injuries have sullied his pre-draft lead-up; once upon a time, pundits thought he’d leave the draft in Round 3 or 4. Now, he’s a 5th- or 6th-Rounder. Why? The injuries. He has not palpable pre-draft measurable.
Singleton squats 570 pounds, however and is 6’0″ + 220lb. He is said to have 4.35 speed, though the damn injuries canceled his Combine showing and Pro Day. The 22-year-old has a knack for game-breaking plays, which the Vikings could use when they’re ready to move on from Aaron Jones and/or Jordan Mason.
Have a look:
Minnesota should use one of its first two Saturday picks on this man.

Steelers, amid QB uncertainty, select Drew Allar in third round
Feb 28, 2026; Indianapolis, IN, USA; Penn State quarterback Drew Allar (QB02) during the NFL Scouting Combine at Lucas Oil Stadium. Mandatory Credit: Kirby Lee-Imagn Images With Aaron Rodgers yet to commit to extending his career into 2026, the Pittsburgh Steelers made a move to bolster the quarterback position, selecting Penn State’s Drew Allar in the third round of the draft on Friday.
The Steelers used the 76th overall selection on Allar, who is coming off a broken left ankle that ended his 2025 season in October.
The choice of Allar was cheered wildly at the draft site in Pittsburgh considering that he played for the Nittany Lions to the east in State College.
Rodgers, 42, started 16 of the Steelers’ 17 games last season, with the team going 10-6 in those contests. He is mulling a return for a 22nd NFL season or retirement.
Allar put up impressive numbers for Penn State during his 2 1/2 years as a starter.
In 2023, he threw for 2,631 yards on a 59.9% completion rate with 25 touchdown passes and two interceptions. The following year, he connected on 66.5% of his throws for 3,327 yards and 24 TDs with eight interceptions as the Nittany Lions reached the College Football Playoff semifinals.
Last season, Allar had a 64.8% completion rate, 1,100 passing yards, eight touchdowns and three interceptions in his abbreviated campaign.
He also ran for 12 career touchdowns.
The Steelers’ other options at quarterback include Mason Rudolph, who has a 9-9-1 career record as a starter, and Will Howard, a sixth-round pick last year who didn’t see any action.

Oleksandr Usyk played major role in deciding Anthony Joshua’s next fight
Eddie Hearn has revealed key discussions with Oleksandr Usyk ahead of Anthony Joshua‘s return to the ring.
Joshua was last seen exchanging verbal blows with Tyson Fury earlier this month, shortly after ‘The Gypsy King’ ended his 16-month layoff with a points victory over Arslanbek Makhmudov.
Instead of granting his rival’s request for a face-off, though, Joshua decided to remain seated and criticise the 37-year-old’s lacklustre performance.
Since then, it has been revealed that ‘AJ’ and his promoter, Matchroom boss Hearn, have been offered a two-fight deal by Turki Alalshikh, culminating in a long-awaited clash with Fury later this year.
The all-British showdown has been slated for November, though Joshua is expected to return to action in July as part of this two-fight agreement.
While having not fought since his sixth-round finish over Jake Paul in December, the 36-year-old has also been recovering – both physically and mentally – from the tragic car crash in which he was involved that same month.
The incident in Nigeria took the lives of his two close friends, while ‘AJ’ was believed to have sustained several injuries.
But he has, of course, returned to training camp with unified heavyweight champion Usyk, who has played a key role in not only Joshua’s rehabilitation but also the discussions for his next fight.
Speaking with IFL TV, promoter Hearn gave an insight into the Ukrainian’s insistence on a comeback fight, before the Londoner finally collides with Fury.
“A lot of this has come through Oleksandr Usyk; he was part of these conversations.
“And the conversations were: Absolutely he’s [Joshua’s] having a comeback fight. He could’ve probably made more money to go straight into the [Fury] fight.
“But [Team Joshua’s] like: ‘No way. We need to be 100% when we fight Tyson Fury’.”
It would seem that the full extent of Joshua’s recovery process has not been documented, hence why his team is particularly keen for him to face a less established name than Fury.

Apr 4, 2026; Vancouver, British Columbia, CAN; Vancouver Whitecaps FC defender Edier Ocampo (18) celebrates scoring with forward Brian White (24) during the first half against the Portland Timbers at BC Place. Mandatory Credit: Anne-Marie Sorvin-Imagn Images The Vancouver Whitecaps play their last home match until August on Saturday night when they host the Colorado Rapids.
The Whitecaps (7-1-0, 21 points), who are second in the Western Conference and the league overall behind only San Jose (24 points), will play their next eight matches in a row on the road as their home pitch, BC Place, undergoes preparations to host seven FIFA World Cup matches. Vancouver’s next home MLS match won’t be until Aug. 1 against Los Angeles FC.
The Whitecaps have made the most of their unbalanced schedule, which has seen them play seven of their first eight matches at home. Vancouver has gone 6-1-0 at home, losing only 1-0 to San Jose back on March 21, and brings in a three-game win streak, outscoring its opponents 8-2 during that span.
Vancouver enters the weekend tied with the Earthquakes, who have played one more match, for the league lead in goals scored (22) and goal differential (plus-18). Forward Brian White (six goals), former Bayern Munich star Thomas Muller (four goals) and U.S. national Sebastian Berhalter (three goals) lead the team in scoring.
Colorado (4-4-1, 13 points) has been one of the league’s most improved teams. The Rapids are in seventh place and have gone 1-1-1 in their last three matches.
After blowing out Houston 6-2 and losing a tightly contested match with defending MLS Cup champions Inter Miami 3-2, before 75,824 at Empower Field at Mile High, the Rapids pulled out a 0-0 draw at Los Angeles FC on Wednesday.
“They’ve been looking very, very good, and have grown from game to game,” Vancouver coach Jesper Sorensen said. “They changed up a lot of stuff since last season. I think looking to head in a good direction. Obviously, we’d like to make them look a little worse than they did (at LAFC), but that’s up to us.”
Lionel Messi scored twice to lead Inter Miami past the Rapids but Colorado finished with 61.9% possession and a 14-5 edge in shot attempts. The Rapids also dominated possession in the draw with LAFC, finishing with a huge 72.5% to 27.5% advantage.
“Another very high-level, technical performance by us,” Rapids coach Matt Wells said of the draw. “I thought we played with personality, played with courage, just like we did against Miami. … We’re showing we’re definitely a different team than we’ve been in the past.”

Anushka Sharma’s Guilty Expression After ‘Money Splashing’ Act On Virat Kohli’s Six Caught On Camera
Royal Challengers Bengaluru continued their high-flying run in the top half of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 season, securing yet another victory to boost their play-off hopes on Friday. Chasing a target against the Gujarat Titans, RCB rode on Virat Kohli‘s brilliant 81 to overhaul the total with seven balls to spare. Although Kohli received a lifeline right at the start of his innings, he made sure GT came back to regret the dropped catch when he was yet to open his account.
Before being dismissed by Jason Holder, Kohli had hit eight fours and four sixes. One of the sixes that the RCB icon hit even had his wife, Anushka Sharma, celebrating in the stands. Anushka, who has attended almost all of RCB’s home games this season at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, was seen making a money-splashing gesture in the stands.
However, as soon as the cameraman turned his attention towards her, she realised that it was not an act she should have done on camera. Her ‘guilty expression’ said it all.

As for the match, Kohli scripted history as he became the first batter in the Indian Premier League (IPL) to hit 800 fours. Kohli achieved the milestone during his knock of 81 runs.
Virat Kohli now has 807 boundaries to his name in 274 IPL matches, the most by any batter in the tournament’s history. He is well clear of the second-placed Shikhar Dhawan, who has 768 fours to his name.
Kohli also became only the third batter to smash 300 sixes in IPL history, after Chris Gayle (357) and Rohit Sharma (310). Kohli now has 303 maximums to his name.
Kohli scored 81 runs off 44 balls against GT, hitting eight boundaries and four sixes. With this knock, he also claimed the Orange Cap for being the leading run-scorer in the IPL 2026 at the moment.

QBs Carson Beck, Drew Allar were surprise NFL Draft selections for most. Here’s what their path looks like for getting playing time
Miami quarterback Carson Beck and Penn State quarterback Drew Allar both landed in ideal spots that could offer opportunities to them sooner rather than later.
Beck, who some refused to believe could be the third quarterback drafted, became exactly that when he was selected by the Arizona Cardinals with the first pick in the third round (65th overall) on Friday night. He’ll enter a Cardinals franchise that expects to have Jacoby Brissett as a bridge starter in 2026, but will be motivated to get a look at Beck if he earns it. With the 2027 expected to be loaded with first-round quarterbacks, I think Arizona will try to get a look at Beck at some point as a rookie starter if he proves worthy. If only to know whether the franchise will need to go back to the draft well in next year’s deeper class. For Beck, that potentially means stepping into an offense with No. 3 overall pick Jeremiyah Love at running back, first team All-Pro tight end Trey McBride, and Michael Wilson and Marvin Harrison Jr. at the wideout spot.

Among the first three quarterbacks drafted — including the Las Vegas Raiders’ Fernando Mendoza and Los Angeles Rams’ Ty Simpson (who is stuck behind reigning league MVP Matthew Stafford) — you could argue that Beck is the winner in terms of surrounding pieces and potential immediate opportunity. It will be worth keeping an eye on next season.
As for Allar, it’s my understanding that his drafting has no impact whatsoever on the team’s hope that Aaron Rodgers returns for 2026. Right now, it’s my belief that Rodgers is coming back and that new head coach Mike McCarthy will let Allar and Will Howard battle it out with Mason Rudolph to determine who fills out the rungs under Rodgers on the depth chart. Assuming a Rodgers return, it’s likely the fourth quarterback in that mix is eventually cut or traded — and that player will not be Allar.
I think the hope is that Rodgers comes back in 2026 and that Allar finally puts his considerable raw talent together under the tutelage of McCarthy, with an eye on him succeeding Rodgers whenever that time comes. And if Rodgers doesn’t return, I think Allar will be given the opportunity to show whether he deserves to be in a QB competition with Rudolph and Howard.

However it ultimately unfolds, the point for Allar is that there will be some kind of opportunity in Pittsburgh. It might be this season, in 2027 or beyond. But it will eventually be there, and that’s all you can ask for as a third-round draft pick.

Jonathan Greenard, dealt from Vikings to Eagles, gets $100M extension
Oct 23, 2025; Inglewood, California, USA; Minnesota Vikings linebacker Jonathan Greenard (58) gets pressure on Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert (10) during the first half at SoFi Stadium. Mandatory Credit: Gary A. Vasquez-Imagn Images Pass rusher Jonathan Greenard, dealt by the Minnesota Vikings to Philadelphia on Friday, agreed to a big-money extension with the Eagles, multiple media outlets reported.
The Eagles received Greenard and a seventh-round pick in this year’s draft in exchange for a third-round pick on Friday (No. 98 overall) and a third-rounder in 2027.
Greenard then reportedly landed a four-year, $100 million extension from the Eagles, including $50 million in guaranteed money.
The 28-year-old University of Florida product is coming off a down season in which he managed just three sacks while playing 12 games (10 starts) for the Vikings. In 2024, Greenard logged 12 sacks and four forced fumbles in 17 starts for Minnesota en route to earning Pro Bowl recognition. The year before that, with the Houston Texans, he registered a career-high 12.5 sacks in 15 games, all starts.
Houston selected Greenard in the third round of the 2020 draft. In 77 NFL games (59 starts), he has 38 sacks, one interception, 14 passes defensed, eight forced fumbles and one fumble recovery.
Last season, the Eagles finished in the middle of the NFL with 42 sacks, led by Jalyx Hunt with 6.5 and Moro Ojomo with six.
