Bayern Munich board member for sport Max Eberl has signaled that he is open to extending his contract beyond the summer of 2027.
“Right now, I think we’ve set a lot of very, very good things in motion. I feel very, very comfortable here,” Eberl, who took over the role in 2024, said in an interview with DAZN.

“People should judge my work. And if they think I’m doing a good job, then I’m also willing to stay at Bayern longer,” he added.

The former Borussia Mönchengladbach and RB Leipzig executive also admitted that his beginning at the Bavarian club were not always straightforward.
“I think everything I’ve invested here – the passion, the work I’ve done together with the people here – wasn’t entirely easy at first, because naturally a few strong personalities came together,” he explained.
“But I think that’s also what helps a big club like Bayern Munich – that people challenge each other and have discussions together.”

Meanwhile, FC Bayern supervisory board member and honorary president Uli Hoeneß recently stressed that formal talks over Eberl’s future can’t begin just yet – even if the club wanted them to.
“First of all, you need to know that board contracts cannot be extended more than one year before they expire,” Hoeneß told DAZN, while confirming that Eberl’s future has already been discussed internally.
“We spoke about a possible contract extension for the board member for sport for the first time at the last board meeting almost two weeks ago,” the honorary president revealed, but declined to go into further detail.
“I don’t want to preempt the discussions that can begin in July,” he stressed.
Mikel Arteta’s side are looking to complete a famous double, with the title race against Manchester City heading towards the final day, too.
Uefa has switched the kick-off time for this year’s final, however, with the game kicking off at 5pm BST on 30 May.

That is three hours earlier than previous years, when the match kicked off at 8pm BST, with Uefa detailing their reasons for the move.
“The decision is designed to enhance the overall matchday experience for fans, teams and host cities by optimising matchday logistics and operations, while delivering several tangible benefits,” read a Uefa statement. “Our goal is to make match day a truly enjoyable experience for everyone who wants to be part of the excitement, while creating a welcoming atmosphere that makes it easy for families and children to attend the biggest and most important club football match of the season.

“For travelling supporters, it will mean improved access to public transport – especially after the match – and a safer, more convenient journey back from the stadium. For the host cities, it will boost the positive economic impact of the event by giving fans the possibility to continue their celebrations.
“The new kick-off time also aligns with a more accessible broadcasting window, helping the final reach an even broader television and digital audience worldwide, with a particular focus on engaging younger viewers.”
While Uefa President Aleksander Ceferin added that the change would allow fans to enjoy the rest of their evening and debrief on the match and season overall for their teams.

He added: “With this change, we are placing the fans’ experience at the heart of our planning. The UEFA Champions League final is the highlight of the football season, and the new kick-off time will make it even more accessible, inclusive, and impactful for everyone involved.

“While a 21:00 CET kick-off is well suited for midweek matches, an earlier kick-off on a Saturday for the final means an earlier finish – regardless of extra time or penalties – and offers fans the opportunity to enjoy the rest of the evening with friends and family, reflecting on the game of the season.”

Viewers in the United Kingdom can watch the match live on TNT Sports 1, with coverage on the channel from 7pm BST. A live stream will also be available via HBO Max and the HBO app.
In the United States, the match will be broadcast in English on CBS and streamed live on Paramount+. Spanish-language coverage is available on Univision and TUDN, which can also be streamed via Fubo.

Penn State quarterback Rocco Becht, who transferred to Penn State from Iowa State, talked Wednesday about how Campbell will be able to change the culture within the program.

Adam Silver has paid tribute to former Atlanta Hawks governor and Turner Broadcasting System founder Ted Turner following news of his passing.
In a statement released by the NBA, Silver called Turner “a true pioneer whose vision transformed modern media.”
He praised Turner’s impact on sports broadcasting, saying: “Through the creation and development of Turner Broadcasting, Ted changed the way fans experience live sports and brought leagues like the NBA to a broader national and global audience.”

Silver also described Turner as “a passionate steward of our game for decades,” both as a longtime Hawks owner and as someone who helped grow the league’s reach around the world.
“On behalf of the NBA, I send my deepest condolences to Ted’s family and friends,” Silver said.
Turner was one of the most influential figures in sports media and played a major role in expanding the NBA’s audience through television broadcasting.

Andy Pages’ career-best three home runs and six RBIs carried the visiting Los Angeles Dodgers to a 12-2 victory over the Houston Astros on Wednesday.
Los Angeles starter Tyler Glasnow left after an inning with back spasms, but manager Dave Roberts said he didn’t think the injury was serious or a long-term issue. Jack Dreyer (2-1) earned the win by throwing two scoreless frames. Six Dodgers relievers combined to hurl eight innings of one-run, four-hit ball.
Shohei Ohtani posted two hits, two runs and an RBI for the Dodgers, who won their third game in four tries and took the three-game set.
Astros starter Lance McCullers Jr. (2-3) lasted just 2 2/3 innings, allowing six runs on four hits. Reliever Jason Alexander yielded five runs on nine hits across 4 1/3 frames. Brice Matthews homered for Houston.

Lowe’s first-inning blast off Michael Soroka was all the offense Skenes (5-2) needed as he silenced Arizona hitters. The right-hander struck out seven and walked none while pitching at least eight innings for the fourth time in his career.
It was the longest scoreless outing ever produced by Skenes, who has yet to last nine innings in a game. Gregory Soto worked around a one-out walk in the ninth for his second save. Soroka (4-2) allowed one run and seven hits in 6 1/3 innings.

Michael Busch drew a bases-loaded walk with two outs in the 10th inning and Chicago beat visiting Cincinnati for its eighth straight win.
Ian Happ went 3-for-5 with a two-run homer for the Cubs, who have opened the four-game series with three straight walk-off victories. Trent Thornton (1-0) pitched a scoreless 10th inning in his Cubs debut. Chicago has won 14 straight games at Wrigley Field, matching the team’s longest home-winning streak since winning 14 in a row in 2008.

“I’m not sure there is another race I’ve won more times than this one,” Pride said.
“I’ve had good success. I even ran into Takeover Target when he won it, and who it’s named after now. That was with Red Oog, who ran third.
“I have quite often been able to use it as a progression race. It’s a nice race along the way for a horse being introduced to stakes racing.”
On Saturday, Pride unleashes Kerguelen in the feature, the Godolphin gelding well-positioned to augment his trainer’s formidable history there.

Kerguelen pursues black-type honors post Group assignments in recent starts, including a sharp sectional display to place fifth behind fellow stable runner Mazu in the Hall Mark Stakes (1200m).
“He ran amazing sectionals and that’s what he can do. He can break 33 (seconds) coming home,” Pride said.
“He will do that again on Saturday, it’s just what sort of head start he will be giving. But he will be the horse to beat.
“I want to get him into the Stradbroke, but he needs to be winning a race like this to go there.”

Think About It’s go-to rider Sam Clipperton rejoins Pride for the Kerguelen mount.
Clipperton had retired 14 months after the 2023 Everest, citing diminished drive, but the sabbatical restored his zeal, leading to a comeback last year.
The trainer observes the evolution and welcomes Clipperton enthusiastically.
“He’s a different person now. He was stale at the end, and Sam will tell you that,” Pride said.

“His mind wasn’t in the right place but, gee, he’s focused now. He’s a good rider, and he looks very stylish on a horse.”
Pride fields a pair for Godolphin at Gosford, with Crepe Myrtle also drawing praise ahead of the Triple M Thunder Handicap (1000m).
“I saved her from last week because I didn’t like the draw. She’s got a better draw this week and she will be hard to beat,” he said.
“I think she is on the right trajectory to be getting to a stakes race this campaign.”

David Benavidez’s cruiserweight title win has fans discussing a potential heavyweight move, where he could join Roy Jones Jr as the second fighter to reign at both super-middleweight and heavyweight. Now, Jones has spoken about a possible showdown between Benavidez and unified heavyweight ruler Oleksandr Usyk.
Jones joined Bob Fitzsimmons as the only fighters to have held world titles at both middleweight and heavyweight, but ‘Captain Hook’ also captured super-middleweight honours – which were introduced long after Fitzsimmons’ retirement.
Speaking on the All The Smoke Fight podcast, Jones told Benavidez to avoid a fight with cruiserweight threat Jai Opetaia, and to do everything in his power to take on Usyk as soon as possible.

“Be smart about this thing, go and take Usyk while the iron is still hot. If you beat Usyk, you won’t ever have to see Opetaia, unless he comes up to heavyweight.”
In terms of the fight itself, Jones refused to rule out the chances of Benavidez replicating his accomplishment and dethroning the undefeated Ukrainian.

Emma Raducanu has withdrawn from the Italian Open due to a post-viral illness.
Raducanu took part in media obligations before later deciding to pull out of the tournament. She has not yet played a match on clay this season, with her last appearance coming at Indian Wells.
The British star rose to global attention in 2021 when she won the US Open at just 18 years old. She made history by becoming the first qualifier ever to win a Grand Slam singles title, doing so without dropping a set throughout the tournament.
