Elijah Bieniemy, the son of Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy, won’t make a court appearance until he has completed a mental-health competency evaluation, court records show.

The 27-year-old was arrested on Monday after shooting his mother, Mia, who suffered “multiple gunshot wounds” at their home in Ashburn, Virginia on Sunday.

Elijah was arrested on charges of malicious wounding, use of a firearm in commission of a felony, and discharge of a firearm inside a dwelling, the Loudon County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release.

A new court filing has Elijah’s public defender arguing the client “appears to suffer from significant mental health issues,” according to The Athletic.

The filing also said Elijah “does not appear able to assist in his own defense at the present time.”

Elijah’s preliminary hearing is now set for Sept. 9 — days before the Chiefs take on the Denver Broncos on “Monday Night Football” to begin the 2026 NFL season.

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid gave an update on Mia on Wednesday while addressing the media, saying “she’s doing great.”

“She’s doing better and great from where she was,” Reid said at training camp. “Out of the ICU unit, happy about that. EB is still with her, that part’s important.”

After the arrest, Elijah was transported to Loudon County Adult Detention Center, where he is currently being held without bond.

The Chiefs coaches and team are set to report to camp at Missouri Western State’s campus this Friday, with veterans having already reported on Tuesday.

The 56-year-old Bieniemy returned to the Chiefs as their offensive coordinator this offseason following time with the Washington Commanders, Chicago Bears and UCLA’s football squad in collegiate ball.

India Men’s Lawn Bowls Pair Overcomes Botswana In Tie-Break To Maintain Unbeaten Run At CWG 2026

Published

on

The Indian men’s lawn bowls pair of Navneet Singh and Dinesh Kumar extended their unbeaten run at the Commonwealth Games, registering a third successive victory after edging Botswana in a tense tie-break in Round 3, Match 2 of Section B on Thursday. In the only other match of the day, Nayanmoni Saikia of India lost to Malaysia’s Emma Firyana Saroji 0.5-1.5 in the women’s singles sectional-Section C. The Indian duo looked set for another comfortable win after claiming the opening set 9-2, but Botswana mounted a spirited comeback to take the second set 4-3 and force the match into a tie-break.

Navneet and Dinesh, however, held their nerve in the decider to seal the contest and maintain their perfect record in the competition.

Playing as ‘lead’ and ‘skip’ respectively, Navneet and Dinesh displayed excellent coordination and precision in the opening set. Botswana’s Kaizer Geche and Charles Diteko struggled to find consistency with the jack, while the Indians repeatedly produced accurate deliveries to build an early advantage.

India opened the scoring with a single point in the first end before taking complete control of the contest. They raced to a commanding 6-0 lead after the second end and continued to dominate proceedings, comfortably closing out the first set 9-2.

The second set initially appeared to follow a similar script. India moved into a 3-1 lead by the end of the fourth end and seemed on course for another straightforward victory. However, Botswana produced a remarkable turnaround in the fifth end, collecting four shots to snatch the set 4-3 and level the match at one set apiece.

With the momentum briefly shifting in Botswana’s favour, the Indian pair responded impressively in the tie-break, producing composed and accurate bowls under pressure to emerge victorious and keep their unbeaten record.

The victory gave Navneet and Dinesh three wins from three matches, significantly boosting their chances of advancing to the knockout stage. India are placed in Section B alongside England, Namibia, Falkland Islands, Cook Islands and Botswana, and remain well positioned with the crucial group fixtures still to come.

Move Against Cancer is seeking industry partnerships

Published

on

By Kath Hudson    30 Jul 2026

Charity, Move Against Cancer, is looking to partner with operators in the fitness industry to get more people living with cancer active.

Recognising the benefits that exercise and community can have for this cohort, Move Against Cancer currently focuses on empowering people to complete 5k in any way they can – be it a jog or walk – or alternatively volunteering or having a coffee and a chat.

The charity was co-founded 10 years ago by oncologist and iron-distance champion, Dr Lucy Gossage, who has experience of working with teenage and young adult cancer patients, along with athlete Gemma Hillier-Moses, who was diagnosed with cancer at the age of 24.

Already collaborating with PureGym – which offers free membership to young people with cancer who have completed the charity’s bespoke movement programme – the charity is now looking to build more partnerships in the industry. It wants to spread the message that exercise can help to prevent cancer and help fitness professionals make exercise more accessible to people affected by cancer.

“The fitness industry has the expertise, equipment, and infrastructure for exercise. We bring the understanding of the cancer journey and the limitations – physical and psychological – many people with cancer face,” says Gossage.

There are already 130 ‘5k Your Way’ events taking place across the UK each week, located at designated parkrun sites. Every month, the charity is supporting an average of three new groups to get underway. More people are being diagnosed with cancer and also more people are surviving the illness. Exercise is one of the most important things anyone diagnosed with cancer can do to enhance wellbeing and improve health outcomes both during and after treatment.

“With 5k Your Way, we focus on empowerment over performance and community over competition to help not just those affected by cancer, but also the wider population, to reframe movement as accessible and essential,” says Gossage.

“We emphasise the social aspect of movement, fostering a sense of belonging, support and mutual encouragement among participants. We share real-life stories from our community to show that movement is possible and beneficial at any stage of recovery.”

The charity delivers Move Mentor training to community groups, equipping volunteers and staff with the knowledge and confidence to support people living with and beyond cancer to move more.

The charity has also expanded its community engagement work, building partnerships with grassroots organisations across the UK. It aims to reach people affected by cancer who are least likely to access physical activity support, particularly within ethnically diverse and underserved communities, thereby laying the foundations for long-term, community-led behaviour change.

India’s Seema Kaliramna made three successive fouls but her third attempt of 58.65m was enough to clinch a bronze medal in the women’s discus throw, while compatriot Nidhi Rani finished fourth in the Commonwealth Games on Thursday. Seema endured a nervy finish, fouling her fourth, fifth and sixth attempts, but her third-round effort proved enough to hold on to bronze. Cameroon’s Monie Nora Atim had one final chance to snatch the bronze but failed to produce the required distance, managing only 11.18m on her last attempt, allowing Seema to finish on the podium ahead of Nidhi. Jamaica’s Samantha Hall won the gold with a Games-leading throw of 61.66m, while Canada’s Julia Tunks took silver with 60.67m.

The 27-year-old Seema made a successful return to competition following motherhood and won gold at the 2025 National Games. She is also pursuing a PhD.

Nidhi opened India’s campaign with a throw of 53.19m but was immediately overtaken by Nigeria’s Obiageri Pamela Amaechi (53.68m) and Uganda’s Monie Nora Atim (55.37m). Seema, meanwhile, began with a foul after sending her discus into the net.

Tunks then moved to the top with an opening effort of 58.21m before Hall seized the lead with 59.27m.

Nidhi responded with a strong second-round throw of 55.67m to climb to third, but Seema soon leapfrogged her compatriot by launching the discus to 57.32m in the second round.

Tunks improved to 60.67m to strengthen her hold on the silver medal position before Seema enhanced her own mark to 58.65m at the halfway stage, putting herself firmly in contention for bronze.

Hall consolidated her supremacy with a fourth-round effort of 60.95m and then sealed the gold with her best throw of 61.66m in the fifth round.

Man United flop Jadon Sancho training with surprise team ahead of free transfer

Published

on

Former Chelsea and Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho is still looking for his next club after being released at the end of his Manchester United contract

Former Manchester United star Jadon Sancho is training at 10th-tier Flixton FC as his wait for a new side goes on. The winger is making use of the club’s facilities to maintain his fitness until securing a transfer.

Sancho’s time at United came to an end when his contract expired in June, leaving him available for a free transfer. The 26-year-old has spent the last two seasons on loan at Aston Villa and Chelsea, having spent half of the previous term at Borussia Dortmund after falling out with Erik ten Hag.

Earlier this week, Sancho spent time at Flixton’s Valley Road ground, not far from United’s Carrington training base. Ryan Giggs’ brother, Rhodri, is said to be serving as assistant manager for Flixton as the team prepares for its first competitive season since reforming.

Flixton FC said: “Great to have Jadon Sancho down at Flixton FC today. The former Manchester United winger has been using our facilities to train, and we had the chance to catch up with him during his visit.

“Thanks for spending some time with us Jadon, and all the very best for what’s next.”

The club posted a video that included a short interview with Sancho. The England international said: “It’s going well, first of all thank you for letting me use your pitch, it’s much appreciated.

“You’ve got a nice layout here. It’s my first time around this area and it’s the first time I’ve seen a nice pitch other than United or City.”

Sancho has reportedly been offered a deal to sign for Qatari side Al Rayyan, who are looking to return to the top of the Qatar Stars League for the first time since 2016. A move would see him link up with ex-Premier League striker Aleksandar Mitrovic, who scored five goals in 11 games after joining in September.

The £73million signing was also spotted in Portugal last week. Sancho spent time with fans in Vilamoura, Quarteira, Portugal, which is just 20 minutes away from Albufeira.

The attacker posed for a photograph with an employee at the Forca Portugal store, a shop that sells Portuguese football products.

A spokesperson for the store said: “Another big name visiting our stores. This time we received a visit from Jadon Sancho at our Vilamoura store. Thank you for the visit.”

Thousands of Man United fans upgraded their matchday last season. This is how they did it.

Peter Malnati goes low to establish 2-shot lead at Rocket Classic

Peter Malnati reacts after hitting his tee shot from the 15th tee box during the Rocket Classic at Detroit Golf Club in Detroit on Thursday, July 30, 2026.Peter Malnati reacts after hitting his tee shot from the 15th tee box during the Rocket Classic at Detroit Golf Club in Detroit on Thursday, July 30, 2026.

Peter Malnati spent much of the day on 59 watch before settling for a 9-under-par 61 and a two-stroke lead at the Rocket Classic on Thursday at Detroit Golf Club.

Malnati went out in 7-under 28 and added birdies at the par-3 11th and par-4 13th hole, positioning himself to go 10 under or better at the par-70 course. Instead, he closed with five pars, with a missed 5 1/2-foot birdie chance at No. 16 along the way.

Malnati, 39, is seeking his third PGA Tour win and angling to qualify for the FedEx Cup playoffs at the 11th hour. He entered the week 171st in the points race after making just seven cuts in 17 starts this year; he’d jump to a projected 68th place with a win, and the top 70 players as of Aug. 9 will make the playoffs.

Rickie Fowler and Ryan Gerard are two shots back after opening with 7-under 63s. Fowler’s win at this event in 2023 was his most recent win of any kind, while Gerard is once again in the hunt after tying for ninth at the Open Championship two weeks ago.

Patrick Cantlay and Patrick Fishburn are tied for fourth at 6-under 64. Michael Kim, who opened the 3M Open last week with a 59, shot an opening 65 Thursday and is tied with Keegan Bradley, Chris Kirk and others as play wound down.

Defending champion Aldrich Potgieter of South Africa struggled to a 6-over 76.

Jeeno Thitikul trying to ‘beat the course’ in hot Open start

Published

on

Jeeno Thitikul is well aware of the conversation that surrounds her every major championship.

But that doesn’t mean she’s buying into it.

In a year where World No. 1 Nelly Korda won the first two majors and World No. 3 Haeran Ryu won the next two, Thitikul, the World No. 2, is still hunting for her first.

After a round in which Thitikul parred her first three and last three holes and birdied seven of the 12 in between them, she was willing to admit she was pleased with a strong performance in one of golf’s biggest events.

“I knew I hit some good shots, but some of the best shots luckily bounce over the pot bunker,” she said with a laugh. “When it’s your way, it’s really your way. And I knew I had a really good putter today, too.”

As for the big-picture question? Thitikul, who’s 23, demurred.

“It’s nothing. I feel like, I know that I haven’t won one yet, but I feel like I’m so young and then I still have I don’t know how many majors ahead of me,” she said. “I feel like one day it will come if I do my job, like keep improving at my job and then … when my game is ready, I’ll win it. Because when my time comes, it should be sweeter than what it felt.”

The key, Thitikul says, is not to show up thinking about the trophy at the end but focusing on the controllables.

“What I can control is if I’m beating the course every day, I should have a really good chance to be on the leaderboard,” she said. “Because, you know, if you can put a red number on your scorecard every day, which means you beat the course, right, and the golf course in a major week isn’t that easy to be beating.”

On Thursday, just 25 players from the 144-player field finished in red figures. Korda posted two-over 73, while Ryu sits among the group at five under par, T2.

Thitikul’s close calls are well documented; her top finishes at majors date back to her fifth-place finish at the 2021 Evian Championship. She’s logged 11 top-10s since then, her closest call coming in a playoff loss at last year’s Evian, when she lost to Grace Kim’s eagle on the second playoff hole.

She comes into this week in strong form, off consecutive top-10s in majors and with two tournament wins already this season, at the Honda LPGA Thailand and the Mizuho Americas Open.

Now comes her last and biggest test.

“I think majors really tests our games, mentally-wise, physically-wise,” Thitikul said.

So far, so good.

Dolphin Grow a Garden guide

Published

The Dolphin is a Mythical pet introduced during Part 4 of the High Tide Harvest Event in Grow a Garden. Unlike most event pets that focus on harvesting or mutations directly, the Dolphin grants players a unique movement ability that can also help apply the valuable Tidal Mutation to nearby crops.

If you’re planning to unlock it without spending Robux, you’ll need to earn Tide Tokens by participating in the High Tide Harvest Event. You’ll receive 1 Tide Token for every 1,000 Harvest Points you earn, making it important to continuously harvest crops and complete event activities to accumulate enough tokens before the event ends.

Dolphin stats in Grow a Garden

The Dolphin is a Mythical pet that requires 100,000 Hunger to become fully grown. Its passive ability is called Dolphin’s Grace. Every once in a while, the pet transforms your character into a Dolphin for a short duration. During this effect, you’ll receive a significant movement speed boost along with 4x higher jump height, making it much easier to move around your garden.

While you’re transformed, any fruits you pass have a chance to receive the Tidal Mutation, allowing you to increase their selling value simply by running through your farm.

Is the Dolphin worth getting?

Yes. The Dolphin is one of the more unique pets added during the High Tide Harvest Event because it combines mobility with mutation generation. The increased movement speed and jump height make harvesting and navigating large gardens much faster, while the chance to apply the Tidal Mutation gives it excellent long-term earning potential.

Although the passive activates only occasionally, the ability to mutate multiple fruits during each transformation makes the Dolphin a worthwhile pet for players looking to maximize profits throughout the event.
