Errol Spence finally confirms he intends to return and face former champion

Published

on

Errol Spence Jr is on the brink of his long-awaited return after nearly three years out of the ring.

The Former unified welterweight champion hasn’t fought since his undisputed showdown with Terence Crawford back in July 2023.

Heading into the bout, it was seen as a 50-50 affair, with Spence arguably even a slight favourite, but instead it was Crawford who earned a dominant ninth round stoppage win to claim all four world titles at 147lbs.

A number of factors have kept Spence out of action since then, including injuries and failed negotiations with other fighters, but now his imminent return has moved a step closer after his planned next opponent won his interim bout over the weekend.

Former WBO super-welterweight champion Tim Tszyu is the man in question, as he secured a one-sided unanimous decision win over Denis Nurja, and then had a callout for Spence immediately after the contest.

“Me and Errol is going to be one hell of a fight, it’s a banger. You know how I am, I don’t take a backwards step. If he wants to meet me at the front, bring it on. You know what they say, catch the big fish. Let’s go fishing.”

It didn’t take Spence long to respond, as posting on social media, he promised to deal with Tszyu convincingly.

“You think sh*t sweet [I’mma] do you so bad!”

The clash between Spence and Tszyu had reportedly been lined up to take place in June, but the Australian did suffer a cut in his bout against Nurja, which could potentially delay proceedings.

Miami Dolphins 2026 undrafted free agent tracker and live updates: Keeping up with all the rumors and signings

Published

on

The Miami Dolphins had a busy 2026 NFL Draft, but the work is not done. With the Draft coming to an end, it is time for the madness of signing undrafted players. Everyone who was draft eligible and were not one of the 257 players to have their name called are now free to sign with any team in the league. And the news and rumors will likely come quickly.

The 2025 NFL Draft has ended, with 257 new rookies assigned to teams. Now, the madness begins as those who were not selected start signing as undrafted free agents with teams all across the league. The newest round of the free agency frenzy is upon us.

Teams are making calls and trying to lock down players they like but did not draft. The Dolphins will be busy trying to sign UDFAs over the next several hours and days. We will keep up with all the latest news and rumors right here.

After the Draft ended, general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan told the media, “Probably I would say eight to 10 [UDFA signings], just depending on how that goes.”

Before we get to the tracker, however, we need to put out our annual disclaimer. Nothing is official with UDFAs until the team announces the signing. Every year it seems as though there are reports of a signing, only to have another team swoop in with a better deal and sign the prospect. It has gone so far as a player boarding a plane for one destination, but signing with a different team during the trip. While we will probably know most of the UDFA signings, just remember everything can change in an instant when it comes to these moves

Dolphins 2026 draft picks

27th overall (from 49ers) – Chris Johnson, CB, San Diego State
43rd overall – Jacob Rodriguez, LB, Texas Tech

Dolphins 2026 undrafted free agent signings and rumors

All of these signings are “reported” and subject to change, as discussed above. The Dolphins will announce them once the contracts are officially signed and executed.

Aljamain Sterling calls for title shot after UFC Vegas 116 decision win

After nearly two full slow-paced rounds in the UFC Vegas 116 main event from the Meta APEX Saturday night, former UFC bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling found an opening with under a minute left in Round 2 against Youssef Zalal. But it was only the beginning of Sterling’s relentless pace.

Several submission attempts, including a fourth-round rear-naked choke opportunity in the closing minutes from Sterling, led to a unanimous decision win across 25 minutes, 49-45, 49-45, 49-45. Sterling (26-5 MMA, 18-5 UFC) was comfortable in all areas against his former training partner, but his objective for the rest of his career is simple.

“(Alexander) Volkanovski, you know I’m coming for that ass,” Sterling said, calling for a featherweight title shot.

Zalal (18-6-1 MMA, 8-4-1 UFC) was classy in defeat.

“I’ve come back before and I’ll come back again,” Zalal said, crediting Sterling’s efforts.

Sterling snapped Zalal’s eight-fight unbeaten streak, predicting that with a bit more five-round experience, the Moroccan competitor will find himself fighting for a championship.

The co-main event saw UFC women’s bantamweight contender Joselyne Edwards of Panama move a step closer to a title shot with a unanimous decision victory over Brazil’s Norma Dumont, sweeping the scorecards 29-28, 29-28, 30-27. Edwards (18-6 MMA, 9-4 UFC) had little trouble with Dumont (13-3 MMA, 9-3 UFC), extending her win streak to five. Dumont fell just short of a four-year unbeaten run, having won her previous six outings before taking her first loss since May 7, 2022.

In the lightweight division, Rafa Garcia of Mexico halted Alexander Hernandez’s four-fight winning streak, earning a unanimous decision 29-28, 29-28, 30-27. Garcia (19-4 MMA, 7-4 UFC) has won three in a row, keeping the fight on the feet, taking Hernandez’s best punches while giving back his own at a much higher rate. Hernandez (18-9 MMA, 10-8 UFC) had not lost since April 6, 2024.

Bantamweight Davey Grant of England earned a unanimous decision against UFC debutant Adrian Luna Martinetti, 29-28, 29-28, 29-28, in an entertaining all-around affair. Grant (18-8 MMA, 9-7 UFC) has won five of his last seven fights, while Luna Martinetti (17-2 MMA), who hails from Ecuador, had not lost since Sept. 20, 2017.

At bantamweight, Brazil’s Raoni Barcelos squeaked out a split-decision win against Montel Jackson, taking two of the three judges’ scorecards, 29-28, 28-29, 29-28. Barcelos (22-5 MMA, 11-4 UFC) extended his winning streak to five, dating back to Feb. 24, 2024. On the other side, Jackson (15-4 MMA, 9-4 UFC) has lost back-to-back fights since his six-fight winning streak which spanned March of 2021 until last October.

Heavyweight Ryan Spann delivered a blitzing right hand to send Brazilian Marcus Buchecha to the canvas, finishing the fight by KO at 2:10 of Round 2 to open the UFC Vegas 116 six-fight main card with what became the only finish. Spann (24-11 MMA, 10-6 UFC) has won back-to-back fights and three of his last four. Buchecha (5-3-1 MMA, 0-2-1 UFC), a seasoned grappler, remains winless in the promotion.

When Manchester United can secure Champions League football ahead of Brentford clash

Published

on

Manchester United are closing in on a return to Champions League football as they prepare for the Premier League visit of Brentford

Manchester United return to action on Monday night in the Premier League when they welcome Brentford to Old Trafford.

Michael Carrick’s side remain third in the table ahead of Liverpool on goals scored and Aston Villa on goal difference. The top two is all but out of reach for United, who have five games remaining, but they are in pole position to secure Champions League football for next season.

The Reds have taken huge strides under Carrick and are now closing in on a return to Europe’s top table. Brentford are still in the hunt for European football themselves as they prepare to visit Manchester, and a win for the Bees would move them into sixth.

Click here to find out the latest Manchester United news in our daily newsletter

For United, three points would represent a huge step towards securing a top-five spot and Champions League football. If Carrick’s men earn a victory, they would move to 61 points with four games to play and out of reach of Chelsea, Brentford and Fulham. Should United then go on to beat Liverpool next weekend, that will be enough to earn a top-five spot.

But Carrick’s side could secure a top-five place before the final whistle at Anfield. If both Brighton, who are away at Newcastle on Saturday, and Bournemouth, who welcome Crystal Palace next weekend, fail to win then United will be assured of a top-five finish regardless of how they fare on Merseyside.

There are still plenty of permutations to play out, but whatever happens in the closing weeks of the season, six points from five games will guarantee United a return to the Champions League, regardless of how others get on.

Arsenal’s injury latest and return dates after new double blow in Man City title twist

Published

on

Arsenal secured a 1-0 win over Newcastle United on Saturday afternoon to reclaim the top spot in the Premier League standings, but Manchester City still have a major chance to clinch the title next month

Arsenal leapfrogged Manchester City back into first-place in the Premier League on Saturday evening, but the Sky Blues still have the ball in their court in the title race. The Gunners are three points clear of City following a 1-0 win over Newcastle United at the Emirates Stadium.

Eberechi Eze scored the decisive goal nine minutes into the action from a well-worked corner – a common theme this season. However, given City have a valuable game in hand and lag Arsenal by just one in terms of goal difference, a couple of big results in their final five could see Pep Guardiola’s side storm to pole position once more.

Ebere Eze

Despite proving the match-winner and collecting the Player of the Match award, Eze was hauled off less than 10 minutes into the second half. While supporters feared the versatile attacking midfielder could be facing a spell on the treatment table, Eze was swift to address his condition with Sky Sports at the final whistle.

He explained: “Yeah, I’m alright. I’m all good,” before adding: “Just precaution, didn’t want to do anything. Yeah, I’ll be okay.”

Kai Havertz

Havertz was also substituted for Viktor Gyokeres just 35 minutes into the match, having received treatment on the pitch before Mikel Arteta ultimately made the decision to withdraw him, with the forward heading straight down the tunnel for further evaluation.

Speaking after the final whistle, Arteta addressed both Havertz and Eze’s conditions, saying: “Lets see, at the moment they have to be looked after but hopefully they’re going to be okay.”

In his post-match press conference, he further explained: “Muscular niggles, we don’t think it is too much.”

Potential return date: Wednesday, April 29 vs Atletico Madrid (A)

Riccardo Calafiori

The Italian was absent from Saturday’s squad entirely as he continues his recovery from an ongoing issue. Nevertheless, Arteta offered an update on Calafiori prior to the game, with the defender also spotted participating in a training session on the pitch following the final whistle.

He said: “He was very close. But we have certain players that are coming back from injuries and can play certain moments as well, and we need to be balanced in what we need to.”

Potential return date: Wednesday, April 29 vs Atletico Madrid (A)

Jurrien Timber

Timber was also absent from Arteta’s squad for the Newcastle fixture due to a hip injury sustained nearly six weeks ago. Arteta has yet to provide a recent update on his condition.

Potential return date: Unknown

Mikel Merino

Although the Spaniard could yet feature before the campaign draws to a close, Arteta has been guarded about putting a timeframe on Merino’s comeback. The midfielder, who has been an integral part of Arsenal’s set-up since joining from Real Sociedad in 2024, is working his way back from a foot injury.

Arteta recently said of the player: “It’s a bit premature to say that [he will play again this season]. He’s evolving really well he’s really pushing every boundary that he possibly can but it’s a bit early to answer that question.”

Potential return date: Unknown

Waller one group one from 200 after 2026 Adelaide Oaks success with Panova

Published

on

Jockey in blue checkered silks riding a brown horse mid-jump in a horse race, with sponsor banners in the background.

Chris Waller needs only one more success to join a select group, courtesy of Panova handing him his 199th Group One in the Australasian Oaks at Morphettville.

No more than two Australian conditioners, T J Smith and Bart Cummings, have delivered over 200 elite wins, both legends ending on 246.

This result lifted Waller to 19 Group 1 victories this term, equalling his own Australian record from the 2024-25 season.

Waller reveals that the pursuit of 200 hasn’t been central to his plans, expressing joy at Panova’s return to form after playing second fiddle all prep.

“She had a temperature at the start of the autumn, and we don’t want to push them. We gave her time,” Waller said.

“But as a result she was a bit bigger, and we all know about that. Once you get out of shape, it’s hard to get back in shape, whether you’re a racehorse or a person, so we’ve just worked away, we haven’t rushed her, and she’s got there today.”

Panova had shown promise in Sydney stakes without a win, her prior success marking the end of spring in Flemington’s Carbine Club Stakes (1600m).

James McDonald, aboard for the win, attributed part of it to the left-hand track, ecstatic for his first Adelaide Group 1 after 10 during Sydney’s autumn carnival.

“It’s an honour to be here,” McDonald said.

“To win one of the nice Oaks, I enjoy winning classics. They’re one of my favourites, rich in history and this race is no different.”

Per Waller, Panova’s campaign is ramping up, with eyes possibly on Eagle Farm’s Queensland Oaks (2200m) in June.

“She is very adaptable. A talented horse,” Waller said.

“We started a long way behind the eight ball, and she has caught up now. She will train on from it and might even get to the Queensland Oaks.”

The $11 shot Panova powered down the outside from the pack to triumph by a length ahead of $6 favourite Mating Call, with Paltrow Miss ($15) next best.

Punters should visit premier racing betting markets for Australasian Oaks insights and promotions.

IPL 2026: Ruturaj Gaikwad registers slowest fifty of the season, enters all-time unwanted list
Chennai Super Kings captain Ruturaj Gaikwad (PTI)

Chennai Super Kings skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad found himself in the record books for the wrong reasons after registering the slowest fifty of IPL 2026 during a tough outing against Gujarat Titans at Chepauk.Gaikwad’s half-century came off 49 balls, making it not only the slowest fifty of the current season but also the slowest in the Impact Sub era since 2023. The previous slowest this season was a 43-ball effort by Rishabh Pant against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Hyderabad.

While the innings of 74 not out off 60 balls helped CSK reach 158 for 7, it reflected the broader struggles of the batting unit on the day.On a lively Chepauk surface that offered sharp bounce, Gujarat Titans bowlers dictated terms early. Mohammed Siraj and Kagiso Rabada extracted steep carry and forced errors, reducing CSK to 28 for 3 in the Powerplay. The early collapse put Gaikwad into a rebuilding role, slowing down the scoring rate significantly. As wickets kept falling, Gaikwad adopted a cautious approach, with dot balls piling up and CSK reaching 50 only in the 12th over. Though he eventually found some fluency with a few late boundaries and sixes, the delayed acceleration meant the innings never gained momentum. In a season dominated by high-scoring encounters, this knock stood out as a reminder that conditions still dictate the tempo, and on this occasion, CSK failed to adapt in time.

Chelsea take on Leeds in echo of 1970 final

The West Yorkshire club led 2-0 at the London Stadium, but saw the hosts score twice in added time to take it to an extra 30 minutes, only for the visitors to eventually triumph 4-3 on penalties and claim a place in the last four for the first time since 1987.

Chelsea, 7-0 victors over League One Port Vale, famously provided the opposition for Leeds in the 1970 final, which went to a replay eventually won by the Londoners, one of eight occasions on which they have won the FA Cup.

Manchester City are going to Wembley, again. City will return here on 16 May to meet either Chelsea or Leeds in what will be their fourth successive FA Cup final. If all goes to plan in these final weeks, in this strange crescendo of a season, it will be the second piece in a treble of trophies for Pep Guardiola’s side.

On a warm, hazy evening in London, City won this semi-final 2-1 but only after coming through an almighty scare by Southampton, who came desperately close to an upset.

Chelsea face Leeds at Wembley in their FA Cup semi-final, with the winner to face Manchester City in the showpiece on Saturday 16 May.

The Blues have endured a run of five successive Premier League games without scoring – their worst run in 114 years – and will need to prove less toothless in front of goal if they are to see off Daniel Farke’s side.

Leeds meanwhile are still on a hot streak after snatching a last-gasp draw at Bournemouth, which took them to the all-important 40-point barrier in a huge boost to their Premier League survival bid.

London Marathon: Kenya’s Sabastian Sawe sets world-record men’s time of under 2 hours

Published

on

Kenya‘s Sabastian Sawe broke the two-hour mark for the first time in history on Sunday in winning the London Marathon.

The defending champion was locked in a tight battle with Ethiopia’s Yomif Kejelcha in the closing stages but surged clear to cross the line in 1hr 59min 30sec.

Kejelcha also dipped under two hours, with a time of 1:59:41, with Uganda‘s Jacob Kiplomo third (2:00:28).

All three finished under the previous men’s world record of 2:00:35 set in Chicago in 2023 by the late Kelvin Kiptum.

Kenya’s Eliud Kipchoge ran 1:59:40 in October 2019, becoming the first person in recorded history to do a sub-two-hour marathon.

But the time was not ratified as a world record because he ran with specialised shoes, standard competition rules for pacing and fluids were not followed, and it was not an open event.

Sawe, wearing Adidas‘s new Pro Evo 3 supershoe, which weighs less than 100 grams, suggested before Sunday’s race that a course record or even a world record was in his sights.

He led a group of six as they passed the half-way point in a time of 1:00:29.

Sawe and Kejelcha pulled clear of the rest of the pack and stayed together until the final stages before the Kenyan kicked for home.

A record was also set in the women’s race, with Ethiopia’s Tigst Assefa pulling away with about 500 meters remaining to win in 2:15:41 to defend the title in the fastest-ever time in a women’s-only marathon.

However, it was 16 seconds slower than the course record set by Paula Radcliffe in 2003 when it was a mixed race.

In the wheelchair races, there was a Swiss double with Marcel Hug powering to a sixth straight men’s title – and eighth in total – and Catherine Debrunner beating Tatyana McFadden in a close finish to defend the title.
