  1. Great coaching. Just found this,im M55 division next summer getting ready for 70.3 in June.

  2. Do you have a over 60’s plan ?

  3. Love the advice here. Almost a 49 y.o. here and finished IMWI this year successfully following your intermediate 12 week IM plan. Slower than my last one 11 years ago, but I found I was content, happy, and focused finishing just under 14.5 hours. Next I’m going to use the over 40 plan! Thank you.

  4. Excellent concise advice Phil. I started last year (at age 60), after a lifetime of mountain trekking and running. I totally agree about including some intensity/speed work but I try to be careful about what I do a day either side. What are your views about Brick sessions for ageing athletes and generally do you like to do Brick sessions throughout the year or just in the lead up to a race?

  5. Really good points there, Phil, for us older triathletes to abide by in our approach to training. For me efficiency is key as we get older – drills to improve this can be done for all three sports and they are typically lower impact/stress workouts., and it supports you in achieving the same performance level for less energy.
I can vouch for your excellent training plans having used your 70.3 plan to get me through my first half-Ironman event at Weymouth this year, a week after turning 50. I made sure to do strength sessions in the gym weekly and I certainly noticed the benefit to my performance on the day.

  6. I really like watching your videos and the advice you give, I'm 57 years old and I admit that my speed actually decreases with age, but my endurance is still at a constant level.
