Training lately
I’ve made the mistake on 3 big occasions of solely focusing on that one aspect of the sport I’m competing in while neglecting the strength components. And it’s reduced my performance every time
I work with athletes every day who neglect their strength training to only focus on combat sports or running or whatever they do. I always encourage my athletes to start working with an S&C or Ex Phys because I know the benefits it gives them and that further % it can take them in their careers
Adding more weights/strength-based stuff into my routine has helped a lot not just from the body composition perspective where my muscle mass has increased & reduced body fat % but also from my performance aspects. I can push harder in runs, lift heavier weights, eat more food & feel my absolute best
I think I’m more “hybrid” than I was when I was amid Hyrox
My message to someone is if you just lift weights. Start some cardio. And to someone who only runs. Start moving some heavy weights. And to someone who punches/kicks/elbows & knees people and also gets those back, start throwing some weight around. You’ll not only look and feel better, but you’ll also have a better chance of winning your fights + protecting yourself
