KOLKATA: The power struggle within Hockey India intensified on Saturday after president Dilip Tirkey issued a show-cause notice to director general Cdr RK Srivastava and directed him to immediately cease discharging functions of his office, citing eight instances of alleged non-compliance, governance lapses and failure to implement directions issued by the elected leadership. In a detailed communication issued through advocate Himanshu Chaturvedi, a copy of which is with TOI, Srivastava was informed that all authority ordinarily exercised by him as director general would remain in abeyance with immediate effect pending further consideration under the Hockey India Bye-Laws.The letter directed him to hand over operational charge, official records, files, credentials and other assets to an officer designated by the president’s office. The notice lists eight charges against Srivastava, including the national team’s jersey controversy, a pending POSH matter, disciplinary issues, delays in implementing administrative directives and alleged failure to keep the president informed on key affairs.A key allegation relates to Srivastava’s travel to FIH Hockey World Cup despite being advised to remain in India to oversee Hockey India League (HIL) matters.According to the notice, communications dated July 30 and August 2 had directed him not to travel and instead facilitate the deputation of other Hockey India representatives for institutional and developmental purposes.Describing the matter as a serious breach of authority, the letter stated: “The non-compliance on your part was a direct insult to, and disobedience of, the office of the President, Hockey India.”The notice also cites the non-production of records linked to the Vikram Pal ICC/POSH matter. “Despite repeated requests from 15.07.2026 onwards for the Vikram Pal ICC/POSH report and proceedings, the records remained unavailable,” the communication states. It further alleges that Srivastava “failed to exercise supervisory control” to ensure the records were secured and made available through an appropriate confidential process. The communication further alleged that while selection committee member Subhadra Pradhan and former internationals Rani Rampal and Sardar Singh were identified for specific roles during the World Cup, the plan was not implemented, and Srivastava attended the event himself. On the action taken against the director general, the notice said: “All authority delegated to or ordinarily exercised through you as Director General shall remain in abeyance with immediate effect and, as an ad-interim protective measure, you shall cease to discharge the functions of Director General pending further consideration and decision by the Executive Committee.”The letter maintained that the measure was “immediate, ad-interim and protective” and did not amount to a final disciplinary finding or punishment. It also clarified that the action would not affect Srivastava’s contractual remuneration or ordinary service benefits.Srivastava has been given four weeks to submit a detailed response along with supporting documents.

Inter Milan‘s defense of the Italian Serie A title continues on Monday as Udinese visit the San Siro for a matchday four fixture. The Nerazzurri have a dominant record against Udinese.

Inter Milan were second in the Serie A table before the fourth round of matches, with the maximum nine points from three matches.

The Italian champions have not put a foot wrong in the top flight, beating Monza 4-1 at home in a statement victory on the opening weekend before a 1-0 away win over Cagliari.

The Nerazzurri beat Napoli in their most recent Serie A encounter last Saturday, making a stunning late comeback to overturn a 2-1 lead for the Neapolitan side with late goals from Marcus Thuram and captain Lautaro Martinez (his second of the match) at the San Siro.

Cristian Chivu’s side even pushed Real Madrid in UEFA Champions League action during the week, eventually losing 2-1 to Los Blancos at the Santiago Bernabéu thanks to goals from Kylian Mbappe and Federico Valverde, with Carlos Augusto’s strike for the Milan giants putting pressure on the home side that almost led to an equalizer late in the game.

Meanwhile, Udinese are 10th in the table with four points after three games, with a mixed bag of results at this early stage of the season.

Le Zebrette opened the league campaign with a 1-1 home draw against Como before travelling to face Monza and returning to Udine with all three points thanks to a 3-2 victory.

Kosta Runjaic’s side beat Venezia 2-1 in Coppa Italia action to build some winning momentum ahead of the third round of Serie A matches, but that run was broken when Udinese clashed with a tough Lazio side that beat them 2-1 at home on Monday.

Things were looking good for the home side when Jesper Karlstrom gave them the lead just after halftime, but the capital club turned the clash around late on with goals from Davide Frattesi and Albert Gudmundsson.

Inter Milan vs Udinese prediction

Inter Milan’s attacking fluidity and clinical finishing from the likes of Thuram and Martinez have been on show in this new season, and they will continue to rely on their ability to dictate the play and use dominant passages of play to keep opponents under pressure.

Udinese are expected to maintain a low-block defensive structure as they aim to frustrate the home side and patiently wait for their own counterattacking opportunities. The visitors have been defensively resilient at times, but lapses in concentration have been damaging, and they cannot afford to be guilty of that against one of the best attacks in the league.

We expect the reigning Serie A champions to keep their momentum going with another victory on Monday.
