Basically everyone can see that most of the d-lineman got bumped down (other than Jalen Redmond) due to the DT draft picks. Likewise, there has been some added competition at corner, center, and even punter.
Lost in the shuffle, perhaps, has been the impact on veteran linebacker Blake Cashman.
For a little while, I’ve written about the status of Ivan Pace Jr. on the Vikings’ roster. After all, the former UDFA had gone from rookie starter to playing a minimized role as a sophomore. And then his third season involved getting fully demoted, placed in a LB3 job behind Eric Wilson and Cashman. Going into 2026, is Mr. Pace the linebacker who is most impacted? Or, perhaps, is his teammate facing the toughest battle?

Blake Cashman Among The Vikings’ Roster Losers
After the 2026 NFL Draft, Dustin Baker considered the impact within the team’s in-house talents. Ivan Pace came in at No. 2 for players most impacted by the draft haul.
“Blake Cashman and Eric Wilson will start as off-ball linebackers in 2026,” Baker begins. “Then, the Vikings used a 2nd-Round pick on Jake Golday. He’s the new youth movement at ILB. Pace Jr. is scheduled to be a Viking through the 2026 campaign. If Golday is worth the draft pick, that probably puts Pace Jr. on the chopping block next offseason.”

No doubt, Mr. Pace is facing an uphill battle. At no point has he been a fantastic option in coverage, but he at least excelled when allowed to come forward. Let the ‘backer blitz and chase down runners, right? The great issue last season were the missed tackles.
Where Pace can find some optimism is that he’s still young and has a history of playing strong ball. The former Cincinnati Bearcat is still only 25. Even better, his cap charge is coming in at roughly $3.5 million. Sitting on the defender for the upcoming season has merit if only to help on specials and be a backup linebacker. Doing more than that — getting back to becoming a starter — means arriving at a nice bonus for the team and player alike.

What of Blake Cashman?
The veteran is still a good football player, doing well last season even as he took a step back from his debut Vikings season. In 2024, Cashman was excellent. His stats showed 112 tackles to stand alongside 4.5 sacks, 11 quarterback hits, 8 tackles for loss, and 8 passes defended. Just great ball from the free-agent addition.
Working against him, though, is that he has battled injuries in each season in Minnesota. Worse yet, Cashman is coming up on his 30th birthday (May 10th). There’s then the reality of a roster cut. Doing so would mean freeing up $7,632,353 if it occurs after June 1st.
Does he meet a similar fate to Harrison Phillips, somebody who got traded away last August?

Moving on from Blake Cashman would be about more than just cap savings. After all, the decision to cut or trade could have already occurred if money was so tight. What would be needed is to see a roster competition where Minnesota feels really good about the other linebackers.
Begin with Eric Wilson. He was brought back on a reasonably hefty three-year deal. At minimum, Mr. Wilson appears likely to be around for two more seasons.
Next up would be Pace. He does need a bounce back, something that feels far off given the recent play. Nevertheless, the option is there. On just a basic level, Pace is a great fit for a Brian Flores who is all gas and no brakes.
Choosing Jake Golday in the 2nd is indicative of enthusiasm for what he can offer. Again, there does need to be a process of proving to be ready, but that’s not too hard to envision.
What would then make things intense for the Vikings’ roster is if the UDFA linebacker adds — Keli Lawson and/or Scooby Williams — step up. Or does the safety depth show itself to be fantastic? All of Josh Metellus, Jay Ward, Theo Jackson, Tavierre Thomas, and Jakobe Thomas are very likely to make the 53-man roster. Seeing Kahlef Hailassie be too good to cut would make things snug, especially with Flores being so willing to shuffle a safety into linebacker spot.

Oh, and then there’s that Harrison Smith guy. Welcoming him back to town means carving out a roster spot. He, too, can play in the box.

Linebacker Blake Cashman is very likely to be a key component of Minnesota’s roster for 2026. He’s a good ball player and a very good leader, fully earning the green dot due to his abilities as a communicator and versatile skills. What does need to be remembered, though, is the investment in Wilson, the 2nd devoted to Golday, and then the retention of Pace. All of the sudden, Cashman needs to compete in a way he didn’t in the past pair of seasons.
Nasarawa Amazons maintained their perfect start to the 2026 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Super Six after coming from behind to beat defending champions Bayelsa Queens 2-1 in Port Harcourt on Monday.

The win moved Nasarawa Amazons to six points from two matches, while Bayelsa Queens remain on one point.

FC Robo Queens grabbed a late consolation goal through Florence Godwin Freda, but Edo Queens were already firmly in control.

A former WWE champion returned to his old stomping ground tonight. He is currently among the most popular acts on Friday Night SmackDown under Triple H’s creative leadership.
The name being discussed is Kit Wilson. On tonight’s episode of NXT, Wilson returned to the black-and-silver brand for the first time in 1141 days. He was the special guest judge for the inaugural Mr. NXT Pageant.
Thanks for the submission!

Before tonight, the former NXT Tag Team Champion’s last appearance for the Shawn Michaels-led brand came on April 25, 2023. Wilson and Elton Prince lost to The D’Angelo Family’s Channing Lorenzo and Tony D’Angelo at Spring Breakin’.

Following the abovementioned loss, Pretty Deadly (Kit Wilson & Elton Prince) was moved to SmackDown as part of the 2023 Draft. The duo had a stellar run on the blue brand before Prince sustained a severe neck injury in May 2025.
In his tag team partner’s absence, Kit Wilson adopted a new gimmick, aiming to eradicate “toxic masculinity” from WWE. In recent months, the 31-year-old has become immensely popular among fans despite portraying a heel character. He has been working with The Miz to take down their common enemy, Danhausen.
Last month, The A-Lister and Wilson interrupted the legendary John Cena’s segment at WrestleMania 42. Before they could target the 17-time WWE World Champion, Danhausen showed up with Minihausens and humiliated the heels on The Grandest Stage of Them All.
At Backlash 2026, Wilson and Miz combined forces to face Danhausen and a Minihausen in a tag team match. Unfortunately for the heel duo, they lost the bout in Tampa, Florida. Despite their defeat, the former WWE Champion and the British superstar have not abandoned their mission of taking down Mr. Very Nice, Very Evil.

Danhausen is currently working on a major “science experiment” on SmackDown. Fans have various theories about the ongoing storyline involving the former AEW star. It will be interesting to see how the experiment affects Miz and Wilson.

World class trainer and former IBF super-featherweight world champion, Robert Garcia, believes that Oleksandr Usyk’s undefeated streak could soon come to an end, if he accepts a fight with one undefeated champion.
Following the Ukrainian’s performance, fans are left debating whether the 39-year-old overlooked Verhoeven or if Father Time has finally caught up with him, with potential fights against the likes of Agit Kabayel and Moses Itauma seemingly all the more dangerous off the back of that showing.
At present, it seems as though either a mandatory defence of the WBC title against Kabayel, or a rematch with Verhoeven, is next – an outing that is expected to take place before the end of the year and could prove to be Usyk’s penultimate professional bout.
However, speaking with YSM Sports Media, Garcia believes that three-division conqueror, David Benavidez, who recently captured the unified cruiserweight world titles, would be capable of handing Usyk a first career defeat and should pursue that opportunity.
“I think that he [Benavidez] should go straight into Usyk, now.
“I think that Benavidez beats Usyk, really, for reals bro. I don’t think that I am the only one that thinks that, after Usyk’s last performance, I think that people might [agree]. I know there is a lot of risk and it won’t be easy, but I do believe that Benavidez beats him.”
Whilst a heavyweight move has been mentioned for ‘The Mexican Monster’, it appears as though the 29-year-old will remain at cruiserweight and next take on WBC titleholder, Noel Mikaelian.

Class 2A: Ottawa Marquette 9, Brimfield/Elmwood 6
Brimfield/Elmwood couldn’t recover from allowing a three-run fifth inning, preventing the Indians from advancing to the state finals for the first time in program history.

Johnson then drove Fagerburg home with his single to left, making it a 4-4 game.
In the next half inning, Marquette (37-3), which faces St. Joseph-Ogden (38-2) at 7 p.m. Friday, June 12 in the state semifinals, plated three runs off a Caden Durdan double, a single by Alec Novotney and a bases-loaded walk.

B/E, however, wasn’t done, pulling the Indians within 7-6 in the sixth. Brody Kenney singled home Tommy Burkitt and Griffin Hougham. Marquette then added a pair of insurance runs in the seventh before the Indians left a pair of runners stranded in the bottom half of the frame.
The Indians boasted five hits, including one from Illinois State signee Kaden Schatsiek, who was also intentionally walked twice. Novotney was 4-for-5 with three RBIs for the Crusaders, who are the two-time reigning Class 1A state champions before getting bumped up a class for the 2026 season.

Everything you need to know about the new Pep Guardiola documentary:
Manchester City head coach Pep Guardiola called time on his 10-year stay at the Etihad Stadium last month, adding another FA and Carabao Cup to his impressive CV.
On Monday, City announced that a new documentary series charting the final two seasons of Guardiola’s time at the club, will be coming soon to Amazon Prime.
The series will span four episodes and starts as City’s record-breaking 26-game unbeaten run comes to an end with a string of defeats in late 2024. Focus then shifts to the boardroom as the club initiates a major rebuild, with Kevin De Bruyne’s emotional departure and the arrival of new talent. Finally, the series culminates with the climax of last season, a pivotal clash with Arsenal, the FA Cup final, and Guardiola’s emotional farewell.
No exact release date has been confirmed for the series but it is expected to be available either this month or next.
The series is billed as ‘the ultimate account of an emotional farewell that marks the end of an era’ and shall be directed by Academy and BAFTA award-winning filmmaker Kevin Macdonald alongside City Studios’ John De Caux and produced by Kevin Macdonald for Plan B/KM Films, and Gavin Johnson and Ged Doherty for City Studios.
Reflecting on the documentary, Media Director at City Football Group Gavin Johnson promised fans that this will be their best production yet. “We’re incredibly proud to be announcing this documentary series today that offers a new insight to Manchester City and surpasses the scale of other documentaries we’ve done before,” he said. “It wouldn’t be achievable without the hard work, trust and collaboration that our City Studios’ embedded crew have built over the last few years with the players, manager, football staff and club executives. It has been fantastic to work with Kevin MacDonald and Plan B/KM Films on this series and it is great endorsement for the level of our productions that we are now able to gain interest and recognition from those at the very top of the industry. We hope Manchester City fans and sports documentary enthusiasts enjoy the series.”
23 years on from Lennox Lewis and Frank Bruno’s famous ‘Battle of Britain’, the sport of boxing finds itself on the verge of a similar yet larger event, with domestic heavyweight rivals Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua set to collide. Looking ahead to the proposed fight, Bruno has doubled down on his forecast for how the contest may play out.
Back in 1993, Frank Bruno came up short against Lewis, halted in round seven of what was a third unsuccessful challenge for the heavyweight crown. That Millennium Stadium event marked a first all-British scrap for the coveted throne, kickstarting an impressive run.
There will be no world title on the line when Fury and Joshua collide, but that won’t stop the main event becoming one of the biggest in the sport’s recent history
Both men are scheduled for ‘warm-up’ bouts before their meeting – Fury’s yet to be made official – as Joshua looks to build additional experience under newly appointed trainer, Iegor Golub, when he faces Kristian Prenga in July.
Now, in an interview with iFL TV, Bruno has doubled down on that opinion, believing that ‘old age has caught up with Fury’ and that Joshua will capitalise if he is in the correct headspace.
“It will be a good fight, I think that it is definitely going to go on, but I think that old age is catching up with Tyson Fury. Even his Dad says that, [about his] old age. I hope that he does very, very well.
“He has got the survival skills you know, Tyson, but Joshua is a very good puncher – if he believes in himself. If he goes in there believing in himself, it is going to be a hard fight for Tyson.
“We need it, it is good for boxing.”
Joshua returns on July 25 against Prenga, while Fury may take on an Albanian heavyweight of his own the following month. If both men come through, their own Battle of Britain is pencilled in for mid-November.

The San Antonio Spurs finally gave the NBA Finals the response we all had been waiting for.
After dropping the first two games of the series, the Spurs bounced back with a 115-111 victory over the New York Knicks in Game 3, cutting the series to 2-1.
Victor Wembanyama led the way with 32 points, eight rebounds, six assists, two steals and three blocks in another outstanding performance.

The Spurs played well throughout the night and matched the Knicks possession for possession. Whenever New York threatened to take control, San Antonio had an answer.
For the first time in the series, the Finals feels evenly matched.
The Knicks entered Game 3 riding a 13-game playoff winning streak and looking capable of taking a commanding lead in the series. Instead, the Spurs protected their home floor and reminded everyone that they are not going away quietly.

The victory not only puts San Antonio on the board, but also changes the feel of the series heading into Game 4.
New York still leads 2-1, but the Spurs have shown they are capable of pushing the Knicks all the way.
