The 2026 FedEx Cup Fall slate started with a birdie barrage this week in Asheville, N.C.

The inaugural Biltmore Championship at The Cliffs at Walnut Cove saw pros pick apart a wet course and deliver a packed Sunday leaderboard.

Neal Shipley and Ben Kohles started the final round out in front of a wave of challengers, but Sunday would ultimately be decided by who could put the pedal down and go low in Asheville. Kohles quickly exited the proceedings while Shipley tried to hang tough in search of his first-career PGA Tour win. But while the 25-year-old Shipley worked to keep the ship afloat, Jacob Bridgeman shot a final-round 61 (10 under) to breeze past him, claim the title and show that his game is in shape for next week’s Presidents Cup at Medinah.

With the win, Bridgeman took home a $900,000 winner’s check. Here’s how much money everyone made at the Biltmore Championship:

Every week, we’re digging into some stats from the Green Bay Packers game by using SumerLive, a new product from SumerSports that tracks a bunch of stats in real time. Last week we got a loss. This week we got an overtime win. So that’s fun.

Offense

This week saw an uptick in usage of 11 personnel. This week, the Packers were in 11 personnel on 55.1% of their snaps, up from 47.8% last week. They were in 12 personnel 30.6% of the time, 13 personnel 14.3% of the time and “Other” 2% of the time (I’d say that’s likely their package with an extra o-lineman, but I’ll know a little better when I finish my charting). Just as a refresher, personnel tells you who is on the field. The first number is the number of running backs, the second number is the number of tight ends, and the number of wide receivers is assumed based on there being 5 available skill players. So 11 personnel would be 1 RB, 1 TE, 3 WR.

In the run game, the Packers leaned heavy in gap scheme runs this week. A third of their runs were in the Zone family (11.1% inside zone, 22.2% wide zone), while the rest was a mix of gap/power scheme. Nothing they ran was particularly effective. On the day, they had 18 attempts for 63 yards (55 of those yards coming after contact) for -0.48 EPA per Play. Their best performance of the day was on Inside Zone runs, in which they had a -0.06 EPA per Play. Their power run game was bad from an efficiency standpoint (-0.76 EPA per Play), but it worked really well from a Success Rate perspective (60% Success Rate). Not particularly efficient, but it kept them ahead of the chains.

Just like last week, we got a pretty nice run/pass ratio from the Packers. They passed on 64% of their offensive snaps this week, after passing on 68.7% last week. After an offseason of begging for LaFleur to let Love loose a bit more, it looks like they’re starting this season by leaning into the passing game more than we had previously seen. I’m taking that as a positive sign.

The pass game wasn’t particularly good (-0.17 EPA per Play, 34.4% Success Rate), but I like that they’re looking to push it. Between the rain and Love’s numb fingers, it wasn’t quite as smooth in the passing game as I would have liked, but I’ve seen enough from Love to believe he’ll have a bounce-back.

The more encouraging thing from the passing game is that protection held up better this week than it did against the Vikings in Week 1. This week, the Jets blitzed on 28.13% of snaps (0.3% above the NFL average), but had a pressure rate of 31.25% (7.86% below NFL average).

From his pass performance by zone chart, Love kept more to the short-to-intermediate portion of the field this week.

We just talked about the offense being more pass-heavy this week, but one area they were not was on 1st and 10. On that down, they had a run rate of 64%. Were they good at it? Dear Reader, they were not! They had an EPA per Play of -0.60 and Success Rate of 29%. They weren’t exactly burning down the house when passing on 1st & 10 (-0.07 EPA per Play, 33% Success Rate), but it was an improvement over the run game. Their 1st & 10 run rate in Week 1 was 48%, so I’m curious to see if this run-heavy approach on 1st & 10 is a product of a very rainy afternoon or whether that’s going to be their approach going forward. Please let this run-heavy approach on 1st & 10 just be a blip.

Matthew Golden had himself a nice day. He had 4 catches (on 6 targets) for 58 yards, good for +1.27 EPA per Reception. He had an ADOT (Average Depth of Target) of 13.33 yards, and averaged 8 yards after the catch. His YAC ability keeps showing up, and I’ve really been enjoying watching him with the ball in his hands. Four of his targets came when he was aligned wide (+1.2 EPA per Reception) and two of his targets came from the slot (+1.48 EPA per Reception). The play that got the Packers into chip-shot field goal range saw Golden aligned outside.

It’s Week 2 of the regular NFL season with lots of action available on TV on Sunday evening.

Nine teams won in Week 1 after missing the postseason in 2025: Arizona, Baltimore, Cincinnati, Detroit, Kansas City, Las Vegas, Minnesota, the New York Giants and the New York Jets.

Since 1990, history has shown that teams that are victorious in their season openers are more than twice as likely to advance to the play-offs as teams that lose their opener. During that span, 54.3 percent of teams (303 of 558) to win their opener have advanced to the play-offs.

However, an 0-1 start is not impossible to overcome, as 25 percent of teams (141 of 557) since 1990 that lost a season opener advance to the play-offs, including both of last year’s Super Bowl participants – the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks.

Here is a look at some of the weekend’s games.

Minnesota (1-0) at Chicago (1-0)

The Bears – who scored an NFL-high 59 points last week, tied for the second-most points ever in a season-opening game – will host the Vikings – who scored 29 unanswered second half points to defeat Green Bay, 39-22, last week – in an NFC North divisional showdown.

Chicago can begin 2-0 for the first time since 2020 while Minnesota can start 2-0 for the second time in the past three seasons (began 5-0 in 2024).

In Week 1, Chicago became the second team in the past 76 seasons and the sixth team ever to score at least 14 points in every quarter of a regular season game. The Bears recorded six rushing touchdowns in Week 1, tied with the 1920 Detroit Heralds, 1920 Rock Island Independents and the 1922 Canton Bulldogs for the most in a season opening game in NFL history.

Minnesota quarterback Carson Wentz became the first non-starting quarterback with at least three touchdown passes and no interceptions in a season-opening win since Pro Football Hall of Famer Fran Tarkenton in 1961.

New Orleans (0-1) at Baltimore (1-0)

The Ravens led all AFC teams with 41 points and 506 total yards of offense in Week 1 while New Orleans quarterback Tyler Shough led all quarterbacks with a career-high 410 passing yards and wide receiver Chris Olave led all players with a career-best 182 receiving yards on Kickoff Weekend.

Shough, who has at least 300 passing yards in three of his past four starts, ranks fourth among all quarterbacks with 2,666 passing yards since his first career start in Week 9 last season.

Baltimore quarterback Lamar Jackson has 62 touchdowns in 28 career starts against the NFC, the highest winning percentage all-time by a starting quarterback against the opposing conference (minimum 15 starts).

Baltimore running back Derrick Henry rushed for 144 yards and three touchdowns in Week 1, his 26th career game with at least 100 rushing yards and multiple rushing touchdowns.

Cincinnati (1-0) at Houston (0-1)

Last week, the Bengals became the fifth team since 1963 with four sacks, four defensive fumble recoveries and a defensive touchdown in a season opening game, joining the 1984 New York Jets, 1988 Los Angeles Rams, 1989 Cleveland Browns and 1993 New Orleans Saints. Cincinnati can begin 2-0 in consecutive seasons for the second time in franchise history (2014-15).
Indianapolis (0-1) at Kansas City (1-0)

Since 2013, when Andy Reid was hired as head coach, the Chiefs have 11 victories on Kick-Kick-Off Weekend, trailing only Philadelphia (12) for the most in the NFL.

Indianapolis running back Jonathan Taylor rushed for two touchdowns in Week 1 and has 17 career games with at least two rushing touchdowns, second-most among all running backs since he entered the NFL in 2020.

Kansas City tight end Travis Kelce had 71 receiving yards in Week 1 and surpassed Jason Witten (13,046 receiving yards) for the second-most regular season receiving yards by a tight end in NFL history, trailing only Pro Football Hall of Famer Tony Gonzalez (15,127).

New York Giants (1-0) at Los Angeles Rams (0-1) on Monday

The Giants look to begin 2-0 for the first time since 2022 after defeating Dallas, 28-20, on Sunday Night Football in Week 1.

On Kick-Off Weekend, Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart became the first player ever with at least three touchdown passes, a passer rating of 130-or-higher and 50-or-more rushing yards (54) in a season opening game.

The Rams are set to become the third team in the past three seasons (Philadelphia – 2024; Los Angeles Chargers – 2025) and ninth team since 1970 to not play on Sunday in Weeks 1 and 2.

In eight home starts last season, Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford passed for 2,320 yards (290 per game) with 22 touchdowns against one interception.

The Kansas City Chiefs struck quickly coming out of halftime in their Week 2 matchup against the Indianapolis Colts at Arrowhead Stadium.

Quarterback Patrick Mahomes seemingly found his stride in the second half of the Chiefs’ ‘Sunday Night Football’ tilt with Indianapolis, finding two underrated wide receivers in big moments during the third quarter.

After narrowly converting a fourth down on their first drive, Mahomes aired it out to wide receiver Tyquan Thornton for a 45-yard completion to set up a first-and-goal. Then, the two-time MVP connected with second-year wideout Jalen Royals for a one-yard touchdown pass.

ARLINGTON, Texas — Dallas Cowboys four-time Pro Bowl quarterback Dak Prescott has eclipsed predecessor Tony Romo in numerous all-time franchise pass records, and now he’s done it again in Dallas’ 37-20 victory over the Washington Commanders. 

Prescott’s fourth passing touchdown of the day against the Washington Commanders in Week 2, his second to wide receiver CeeDee Lamb, now pushes him past Romo atop the Cowboys’ all-time passing touchdowns leaderboard with 249 and counting. He hit this milestone in 15 fewer career games than Romo. Not too shabby for a former fourth-round pick who was initially set to be the Cowboys’ third quarterback in 2016 before injuries to Romo and then-backup Kellen Moore occurred in the preseason. Prescott finished with four passing touchdowns to go along with 279 yards on 26 of 31 passing. Lamb hauled in his first and last passing touchdown of the day to finish with 153 yards receiving and 8 catches on 9 targets while tight end Jake Ferguson caught the two in the middle to end up with 43 yards receiving while catching all 4 of his targets. 

“I’m blessed, honored. As I’ve told you earlier in the week, records are meant to be broken. It’s my time to break this one,” Prescott said postgame on Sunday. “Pretty cool to do it against the team that I threw my first touchdown against, 10 years ago or so. So definitely humbling,  something I don’t take for granted. The great history of this organization, of the past quarterbacks before me, obviously  wearing to me the greatest one. And so super, super honored, super thankful. God’s great. I’m not taking it lightly, but as I told y’all, it’s just the beginning. I want to double it. I plan to play for a while so I’m just getting started.” 

It was appropriate Lamb caught the record-breaking touchdown pass for Prescott on a contested, 50-50 ball in the corner of the end zone since the now-37 receiving touchdowns they’ve connected for are the most of any duo in Prescott’s career. 

“Yeah, it was definitely fitting, and it wasn’t a great ball. I just saw him one-on-one. I put it out there like, ‘CD, please just get  this over with.’ And he did,” Prescott said. “And then I heard the crowd. I’m like, ‘did he catch it? Did he not? And then when he’s running  down the end zone, I’m like, ‘Thank God. Yeah, this is over.’ We can just move on and just play ball now. Definitely fitting. That guy, he’s been amazing. And as I just said, we’re just getting started. He’s just getting started. He’s a hell of a player. We started off these first two games with two touchdowns, and he’s had one touchdown in each game. I don’t think it’s going to stop. Just his mindset, his mentality, just where he is in life. It’s only going to get better and I’m excited for it.”

“I’m just happy for him. No one is more deserving of that achievement than he is,” Lamb said postgame. “I know we have many more to go.”

Record relationships

Prescott entered Sunday already No. 1 in team history in completion percentage (66.9%), passing yards (36,164) and passer rating (98.2) — all records he took the crown from Romo to vault to the top of the list. The record holder in a few of these before Romo was Pro Football Hall of Famer Troy Aikman. Statistically, Prescott is now cemented among those two and Hall of Famer Roger Staubach in Cowboys history. He still believes Staubach is the best QB in Cowboys history, which is why Prescott wore his jersey into and out of AT&T Stadium on Sunday. 

“Yeah, we were talking about it throughout the week. Yeah, he’s just on my mind and home opener, knew that this was an opportunity to break this record and just felt right. Just felt right,” Prescott said. “As I said, he’s the standard. He was the first great one  here and I think he still is. And as we know, I was schooling up Q [Quinnen Williams] on the history of him to win the Heisman, to go serve for our country and then to come back, win two Super Bowls, be the man that he is, be as great as  he is off the field, do so much for the community. He’s the epitome of what a Dallas Cowboys quarterback should be and he’s who I’m chasing. And so I’m thankful for the relationship that we do have and yeah, just wanted to support him.” 

Prescott achieving this record 11 seasons into his NFL career also stands as a marker of the relationships he’s built. Retired three-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Dez Bryant was in the locker room postgame wearing a No. 4 Prescott jersey as were two of Prescott’s offensive retired linemen from his early days: 2010’s All-Decade team left tackle Tyron Smith and La’el Collins. 

“Yeah. I mean, I just dapped him [Bryant] off right before I walked in here, and he’s screaming at CeeDee who was getting  interviewed. And I was just like, [that’s] the 88’s. Yeah, it’s awesome. I’m blessed,” Prescott said. “Obviously, as I said in the locker room, I told the guys I wouldn’t be in this position without so many of my teammates. … Super thankful for who Dez was or who he is: the older veteran he was when I came into the locker room. First guy that ever greeted me, walking into the locker room, one of the biggest supporters of young guys, gave me so much confidence. And then now to be pouring that into CeeDee. CeeDee tells me right after the game, running off the field, ‘nobody’s more deserving.’ I’m just super blessed for having those guys, but it’s not just on the field, it’s off the field and that personal relationship.” 

Prescott’s relationship with Ferguson, whose 16 receiving touchdowns he’s caught from the Cowboys quarterbacks rank as tied for the third-most by any duo, extends beyond the football field. Ferguson’s stepfather died during Dallas’ training camp this year, and Prescott made sure to step out of a meeting to be there one-on-one for his grieving tight end. 

“Yeah, it [the record] means the world to me. It’s pretty special. How he carries himself. How he treats people. I’m not talking about the football player, I’m talking about the man,” Ferguson said. “The father he is. … He’s a role model for me. He’s been there for some hard stuff for me. I lost my stepfather in [training] camp. He was there for me through the whole time. Pulled out of a meeting to come talk to me. That really kept me together. He means a ton to me, and he means a ton to this team. Pretty special.”

That’s what Prescott aims to remember when his football career ends: the moments with teammates, the high’s and low’s and all the time spent together. 

“Yeah, they [his teammates] make up more than the records. This world’s about people, man. This life’s about people. It’s about loving and pouring into people and being there for somebody and giving them what you can through your own experiences, being a  helping hand,” Prescott said. … “When he [Ferguson] lost his father in camp, I knew where he was. I’ve been in that position [losing his mother] and just wanting to be there for him and check on him and let him know that ‘whatever you’re feeling is okay. You’re mad, pissed, whatever’. And he handled it as good as anybody can, losing a stepfather and being there for his mom and for his family and being a rock. And I just  wanted to be a little help if I could. And so just for him to even pivot talking about a record to that, it just goes back to me  just saying that all these little things matter.” 

So what does Prescott hope to leave as his lasting memory as a Cowboys as the now-record holder of every major passing statistic? He doesn’t really care. Prescott just wants to soak up every second en route to his stated goal of 500-plus passing touchdowns while playing into his 40s. 

“I really don’t think about that. I don’t. It’s not that I don’t care, but for me it’s about being present. When I hear that Jake pivots that conversation there, I see the way that my teammates react in the locker room or when I score that touchdown, that’s enough for me,” Prescott said. “That’s more than enough for me. When I’m done playing this game or when I’m not here anymore, life’s life. Life’s going to continue to go on. People are going to look up history, people believe what they want to believe. The simple fact that I actually had to explain Roger’s history to a teammate [Quinnen Williams], there’s going to be Cowboy players that don’t give a damn or know who I am one day. So, I just want to be present as much as I can every second and every opportunity that I have. And I think that’ll be enough.” 

Ferran Torres continued the impressive start to his Paris Saint-Germain career by scoring the opener as the French and European champions won 2-1 at bitter rivals Marseille in Ligue 1 on Sunday.

Spain World Cup final hero Torres came off the bench to replace Khvicha Kvaratskhelia just before the hour mark and headed in a Desire Doue cross to give PSG the lead in the 66th minute at the Velodrome.

That brought the game to life, with England midfielder Angel Gomes scoring an excellent equaliser for Marseille on 72 minutes only for PSG captain Marquinhos to win the game for the visitors three minutes later.

The Brazilian defender met a Nuno Mendes cross and had his initial effort saved by Marseille goalkeeper Jeffrey de Lange before bundling in the rebound.

United States star Timothy Weah, a former PSG player, was then sent off for a second booking as Marseille finished the game a man down.

Torres scored PSG’s winning goal in Brest last weekend and now has seven goals in six appearances in all competitions since joining the reigning European champions from Barcelona. He has only started three times.

“We knew that for us it was one of the most important matches of the season. We knew it wouldn’t be easy but we managed to get the victory,” Torres said at full-time, with PSG now up to sixth in the table, five points behind leaders Monaco after five fixtures.

“Now we can go away and play for our countries and disconnect from club football for a bit.”

Torres, whose extra-time goal gave Spain victory over Argentina in the World Cup final in the United States in July, is in the squad as La Roja play their first game since that tournament away to England in the UEFA Nations League next weekend.

Struggling Marseille have now suffered four straight Ligue 1 defeats, and five losses in a row in all competitions. They therefore find themselves in the relegation zone as club football takes a three-week break.

Monaco extended their unbeaten start to the campaign by beating Lens 2-1 on Friday, and the principality side are two points clear at the top of Ligue 1 from both Lyon and Paris FC.

Lyon hammered Rennes 4-0 on Saturday, while Paris FC won 2-1 against Strasbourg.

Lille missed the opportunity to move level on points again with Monaco as they lost 2-1 at Nice on Sunday.

Algerian international Mohamed Amoura got what proved to be the winner for Nice, with Japan’s Ayase Ueda scoring for Lille, his third goal in four games since signing from Feyenoord.

Former Aston Villa striker Cameron Archer scored in a third straight game for Auxerre as Will Still’s team defeated Brest 2-1.
