Leicester City have completed the loan signing of Nigerian midfielder Joe Aribo from Southampton until the end of the season.

The 29-year-old has joined the Foxes as they look to boost their squad for the remainder of the Championship campaign. Aribo brings experience from both domestic and European football to the King Power Stadium.

Aribo moved to Southampton in 2022 after three successful seasons with Rangers in Scotland. During his time at Rangers, he won the Scottish Premiership and the Scottish Cup, and scored in the UEFA Europa League final against Eintracht Frankfurt in 2022.

Since joining Southampton, Aribo has made 111 appearances in league competitions, scoring nine goals. He has also featured 53 times in the Premier League. However, his involvement this season has been limited to seven appearances, with his last outing coming in the win over West Bromwich Albion on December 9.

After completing the move, Aribo said he was excited by Leicester City’s ambition and the quality within the squad. He expressed confidence in what the team can achieve together and said he was happy to be part of the project.

Born in Camberwell, London, Aribo began his professional career with non-league side Staines Town before joining Charlton Athletic in 2015. Strong performances at Charlton during the 2016/17 season earned him a move to Rangers.

At Rangers, Aribo made 149 appearances and scored 26 goals. He was a regular in European competitions, playing more than 40 continental matches. His goal in the Europa League final in Seville remains a memorable moment in his club career, despite Rangers losing the final on penalties.

On the international stage, Aribo has represented Nigeria 34 times since making his debut against Ukraine in August 2019. He was also part of the Super Eagles squad that finished second at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire.

Aribo is expected to join up with his new teammates immediately and could be available for Leicester City’s next Championship match away to Birmingham City on Saturday, February 7.

Micah Parsons’ relationship with Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones soured last offseason, which led to the team trading the DE to the Packers in August. On Tuesday, Parsons opened up his acrimonious split with the Cowboys.

“I just wish some of those things never happened. You know what I mean?,” Parsons told Clarence Hill of All City DLLS Cowboys. “I wish that he never brought me into the office and just let the agent speak. And I wish he hadn’t compromised our relationship. I thought me and Jerry had a good relationship up to that point until this offseason, and it’s sad that it went to sh*t like that.”

Parsons played four years with the Cowboys, earning a Pro Bowl selection in each season. He signed a 4-year, $188 million extension with the Packers after the Cowboys traded him last year.
