The most successful fantasy films of all time, The Lord of the Rings trilogy and Harry Potter, have reigned at the top of the mountain for decades, yet the genre has experienced a resurgence in recent years thanks to the rise of podcasts. Actual play podcasts featuring players going through a tabletop RPG have become one of the hottest genres of the new medium, and the best of them, including Critical Role, Dimension 20, and Not Another D&D Podcast, were based on Dungeons and Dragons Fifth Edition.

You’d think that 2023’s Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, the best fantasy movie of the last decade, would have become a hit, but instead it disappointed at the box office (ironically, thanks to the franchise owner, Wizards of the Coast, horrible timing). Now it’s finally developing a following. 

A Tabletop Adventure On The Big Screen

Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves picks up after the adventuring party of Edvin the Bard (Chris Pine), Holga the Barbarian (Michelle Rodriguez), Simon the Sorcerer (Justice Smith), Doric the Druid (Sophia Lillis), and Forge the Thief (Hugh Grant) were betrayed by the obviously evil wizard Sofina (Daisy Head). Out for revenge, Evin and Holga get the band back together, go into an actual dungeon complete with a dragon, and pull off a fantastical heist. 

The film has everything fans of the game have wanted to see on the big screen for decades, including an aarakocra and a cameo appearance by the characters from the 80s Dungeons & Dragons Saturday morning cartoon. Actual spells from the tabletop game are used, and real mechanics were played out.

All of this helped make the rollicking adventure feel like someone’s homebrew campaign brought to life. Even for those who don’t play the tabletop game, the comedy beats all and makes it a fun fantasy adventure. 

Why Dungeons & Dragons Failed To Find A Big Theater Audience

Mere weeks before Honor Among Thieves was released, Wizards of the Coast, the company that owns Dungeons and Dragons, did something so heinous it caused a boycott by fans. For more than 20 years, the game had operated under the Open Gaming License (OGL).

That OGL let independent writers and small companies create adventures, rulebooks, podcasts, and entire businesses built around D&D without fear of being shut down. And Wizards of the Coast decided to end it all.

A leaked draft of a new license Wizards of the Coast was planning appeared online. The Open Game License was being changed so that Wizards would get a 25 percent cut of everything fans earn when a creator makes more than $750,000 from monetizing the game. Worse still, the new terms would ban all online tabletop simulators and allow Wizards of the Coast to claim sole ownership of anything created by fans.

This leak of the company’s plans sparked a firestorm in the Dungeons & Dragons community. Core fans revolted en masse. An organic, fan-driven boycott of the company and everything it was involved with began. That boycott included the movie, meaning the group of people Hollywood expected as the film’s core supporters were not only avoiding it, but actively campaigning to keep it from being seen. It worked.

The film received a favorable response from those who saw it, with a 91 percent “fresh” rating on Rotten Tomatoes from over 300 reviews by critics and a matching 92 percent from over 2,000 reviews by the public. Yet Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves underperformed, barely squeaking by with $200 million worldwide. That failure is undeniable, but it’s not the fault of the movie. Honor Among Thieves was destroyed by the greed of the company that owns its IP.

The backlash became so intense that Wizards eventually reversed course and released key D&D rules under a Creative Commons license, making them far harder to control in the future. But that change was too late to save Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves.

Standing On Its Own

Removed from the drama of early 2023, Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves can now stand on its own merit. Thanks to streaming, audiences are watching and enjoying the movie.

Unfortunately, the movie’s weak performance destroyed the hope of a sequel. However, if Honor Among Thieves continues to gain a much-deserved cult following, there’s always a chance that the writer/director duo of Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley (who also worked with Pine on Horrible Bosses 2) will get another chance to bring the game to life.

Whether Honor Among Thieves gets the sequel it deserves or not, thanks to streaming, fans can enjoy the funniest fantasy movie since Monty Python and the Holy Grail, and newcomers can get a taste of what it’s like to play the most popular tabletop role-playing game in the world.

A former Girlicious member is speaking out and taking a hard look back at the early 2000s pop scene. Natalie Mejia, who rose to fame on “Pussycat Dolls Present: Girlicious,” is now calling out what she describes as a “hypersexualized” culture that pushed young female artists to prioritize image over comfort.

Looking back on her time in the group, formed by Robin Antin, Mejia admitted she felt pressure to conform to the industry’s expectations at the height of her career.

“I was chasing the success, and it meant so much to me to finally get into the position of having this big label and this management and these people behind you and I think for me, I was like, ‘Oh I guess this is what it takes,’” she told The Daily Mail.

At the time, Girlicious followed in the footsteps of the The Pussycat Dolls, embracing bold, revealing looks that mirrored the era’s emphasis on sex appeal.

Mejia Says Motherhood And Changing Times Shifted Her View On ‘Hypersexualized’ Era

Now 37 and a mother, Mejia says both personal growth and societal changes have reshaped how she views that chapter of her life. “I think the times have changed so much as well,” she said. “We’re kind of looking at different things about like Me Too and just the young adolescent girl being so hypersexualized, it’s important that everybody’s comfortability level is respected.”

She continued, “I think it’s making space for an elegance or an image that you can still be sexy and beautiful and lovely but not have to be completely vulnerable in your bare skimpies if you don’t want to.”

While the entertainment industry still places heavy emphasis on appearance, Mejia says she’s worked to find a middle ground that aligns with her values. “The music industry and entertainment industry has so much demands with the beauty industry, right?” she told the outlet. “So it’s like, you know, how risque are you willing to go, or what’s your sex appeal?”

“And that’s kind of an important part of Hollywood culture and things like that,” she added. “So I’ve definitely had to find a balance of elegance and things that represent my faith in a way that feels true to myself, but still feeling confident in myself with the beauty standards and things like that.”

Mejia Says Reality Show ‘Villain’ Edit Didn’t Reflect Her True Experience

Formed by Robin Antin, Girlicious featured Natalie Mejia alongside Nichole Cordova, Tiffanie Anderson, and Chrystina Sayers. The group released their self-titled debut album in 2008 after being assembled through the reality competition “Pussycat Dolls Present: Girlicious,” but ultimately disbanded just a few years later.

Despite the group’s short run, Mejia says her experience on the show, and how she was portrayed, has stuck with her. “I actually was very surprised that I was kind of categorized as the villain because in my experience, I was, I feel like the crybaby,” she told The Daily Mail. “I was always crying every minute, and it didn’t really portray that like on the interview, it was very selective as to which parts they moved forward with, and there was a lot of sound bites, so some things I was saying but not in that moment.”

“And so it just kind of fit perfectly into a scene that maybe wasn’t actually like the how it transpired, but I had to brave that as the villain, because it was like a love-hate thing, like either you loved me or you hated me on the show,” she continued. “And I think that I was very outspoken, and sometimes it had some backlash, but overall, I felt like I was very vulnerable and I was very a teenage girl in the moment in a competition reality show.”

Candiace Dillard Bassett is known for being extremely outspoken, and she regularly demonstrates that on her podcast. 

On the most recent episode, the former “Real Housewives of Potomac” star made comments that left fans questioning if her once tight friendship with former co-star Wendy Osefo is over.

On an episode of her “Undomesticated” podcast, Dillard Bassett spoke about a friendship on “RHOP” that she realized was one of convenience and not based on true connection or support.

”On ‘Housewives’ there were relationships that I was in that I discovered in my exit that were relationships of convenience,” she said. “And a relationship that worked, only worked, because this is what it seemed like the fans wanted.”

“It seemed like what the people were championing and cheering for,” Dillard Bassett continued. “But, I’m not on the show anymore, so it doesn’t behoove you to maintain a friendship with me. And so, we’re not friends anymore.”

”RHOP” fans immediately started the process of elimination of who she could be referring to, quickly eliminating Gizelle Bryant, Ashley Darby, Karen Huger, and Robyn Dixon.

That only left Osefo, as the two were very close on the show and presented a united front throughout their time on the show together. 

Additionally, when the pair were last castmates, back in season 8, fans of the ladies were consistently rooting for them to be besties against Bryant and Dixon. 

Fans Believe That Dillard Bassett And Osefo Are On The Outs

In the comments of the post in the “RHOP” Reddit forum, fans voiced their beliefs that Dillard Bassett was definitely referring to Osefo.

“It was obvious that her and Wendy were friends of alliances,” one user wrote. “Yea I never got the impression they were actual friends,” another replied. “If Wendy and Candiace weren’t fighting Gizelle it was pretty obvious that they would never have been friends and was a common enemy alliance!,” a commenter shared.

An additional Redditor offered a different take on things.

“Candiace always annoys me because she is so insightful until it’s time to look in that mirror, then suddenly she’s blind,” they wrote. “It was clear that they both were in that friendship bc it was a relationship of convenience. She used Wendy as much as Wendy used her.”

“Candiace was literally only cool with Karen and Wendy when she left the show and she’s openly supported both of them,” a fellow Reddit user commented. “Candiace never even pretended to be friends with any of the other women. Wendy Osefo Is Facing Serious Prison Time Amid Felony Fraud Charges

A few weeks after ‘RHOP’ began airing its 10th season, news of Osefo and her husband Eddie’s arrest on multiple felony fraud charges sent shockwaves throughout the franchise. In October 2025, the couple was arrested in Maryland with a combined total of 33 counts of fraud.

Wendy was hit with 15 charges, while Eddie has 18 charges of his own. The charges were brought about following an extensive investigation by authorities after the Osefos reported a burglary that authorities say was a fraudulent attempt to file false insurance claims. If convicted, they could face 25 years in prison.

While attending BravoCon the following month, which many were surprised to see she attended, Wendy addressed her legal troubles to fans.

“I read your messages. I can’t respond to everyone, but your love and support means the world to me,” Wendy said at the time. “You know, it’s an unfortunate situation, and right now I can’t say too much, but I will say when the time is right, I will share my story with everyone, and for now they’re just allegations, so we will continue to push forward.”

Season 11 Of ‘RHOP’ Has Already Produced Rumored Drama During Filming

The 11th season of “RHOP” is currently underway, and leaks about what is happening are already being shared online.

It involves “RHOP” OG Ashley Darby and rumored new cast member Courtney Ajinca. Per a post from reality TV blogger Nate Williams (@natesmediaaa on X, formerly known as Twitter), the two women recently got into an explosive fight that culminated with Ajinca calling Darby a pedophile.

“POTOMAC SEASON 11 TEA. (exclusively from close source) -Word on the street is that the fierce newbie Courtney Ajinca and Ashley Darby are feuding BAD. Things allegedly got so bad, Courtney called Ashley a p*dop*hle,” the post read.

Two Original Cast Members Are Officially Back On The Show

On April 10, Bravo announced the returning cast for “RHOP” season 11, and while Gizelle Bryant, Ashley Darby, Wendy Osefo, and Stacey Rusch were expected to return, the inclusion of franchise OGs Robyn Dixon and Karen Huger grabbed all the attention.

Huger was last seen during part three of the season 10 reunion, which followed her sit-down interview with Andy Cohen, in which she discussed her prison stay, sobriety, and future on the show. She will return to the show in a full-time role after being absent last season.

Meanwhile, Dixon has not appeared on “RHOP” since she was fired at the end of season 8. She was set to appear last season for a celebration of her “Reasonably Shady” podcast with Bryant, who confirmed that Dixon chose not to attend because she was not happy “with how she left the show.”

While speaking to Us ahead of season 2, several cast members showed support for a potential appearance from Hudson’s stepfather, Kurt Russell. Us suggested Russell play the late Gordon patriarch back in April 2026, which the cast happily cosigned.

MacArthur, who plays Ness, joked that he “always thought” of Russell as his dad anyway, adding, “So I’m all in.” Guido, who portrays Gordon family newcomer Jackie, said he would also love to share the screen with Russell.

“I’ve been around, and I didn’t even think of that. Wow!” he noted, while season 2 guest star Ken Marino added in his own interview with Us, “That’d be fantastic! Yes, that’s perfect. Get that out there!”

However, none could quite touch the near-perfection of the original, which is why, after two decades, it’s still proving popular. At the time of writing, Mean Girls is one of the ten most-streamed movies on Paramount+ in the U.S., a list topped by the 2026 horror gem Primate. In Australia, the film is currently the most-watched of any on Paramount+.

‘Mean Girls’ Was a Box Office Success

Not just a hit with critics, labeled “terrific” by one and “near the top of the class” by another, Mean Girls was also a box office success. Against a small budget of just $18 million, the movie earned a global haul of $130 million, split between $86 million in domestic revenue and $44 million from overseas markets. The 2024 reimagining, despite benefiting from inflation, couldn’t match the haul of the original, falling short with just $104 million against a doubled production budget of $36 million.

Klay Thompson may want to duck for cover. Hours after Megan Thee Stallion revealed she ended her relationship with the NBA star due to his alleged infidelity, one of her fans announced their plans to have the athlete hexed by an Etsy witch.

Megan Thee Stallion and Thompson became an official couple in the summer of 2025, publicly boasting about the love they had for each other. Things came crashing down in April 2026, however, when the “Savage” rapper accused the Dallas Mavericks player of cheating on her.

On April 25, 2026, Megan Thee Stallion alerted her nearly 33 million Instagram followers that she and Thompson were no longer in a relationship. In her post, three-time Grammy winner hurled serious accusations Thompson’s way, citing them as the reason for the split.

After laying out her and Thompson’s dirty laundry, Megan shared an official statement about the demise of her nearly year-long relationship with the 6’5″ guard.

Megan Said Thompson Made Her ‘Comfortable’ In February 2026

In a February 2026 interview with PEOPLE, Megan said she was “overly comfortable” with Thompson. “I’m comfy, babe!” she teased.

Before that, the 31-year-old revealed that her love story with Thompson was an unexpected but welcome surprise.

“I think that because finally I started being in a better mind space about myself and my life, and I had already been doing a lot of work to heal me,” she said. “I had been going to therapy, I had a bunch of activities that I started doing for myself; maybe God just opened up that space for me to have somebody that loved me right.”

Before he was Reacher, but after he was Thad, Alan Ritchson played Barbie. Not that Barbie, Arthur Bailey, the hero of SyFy’s wild series, Blood Drive. A throwback to the grindhouse cinema of the 70s, Blood Drive is the most twisted series to air on the cable channel. If you think a show about a cross-country death race in a future wrecked by environmental catastrophe and controlled by a mega corporation sounds like Death Race 2000 or Twisted Metal, well, you’re right. There’s one small difference. The cars in Blood Drive run on human blood. 

Gas Is People

Set years after the United States was cracked in half by earthquakes along the Mississippi river, Blood Drive’s evil corporation, Heart Enterprises, has monopolized the rare resources exposed by the massive fault. Water’s scarce, and gas is hard to come by, so of course the solution is cars that run on blood, which have helpful grinders built into the engines for sticking human bodies. Not all of them have that of course, but when you see the inside of the psychotic Grace’s (Christina Ochoa) car, you won’t soon forget it. 

Grace and Arthur, a cop trying to do the right thing, are reluctantly partnered for the cross-country race. Together, they hit one nightmare after another on the open highway, from cannibals to Amazons, with every new city and rest stop hiding a deadly secret. Every now and then, they stumble across a small town in need of a few good men. Except this is Blood Drive. There are no heroes here.

It’s no surprise which character ended up becoming the fan favorite: Julian Sink, the Blood Drive Master of Ceremonies. Played over the top by Stargate’s Colin Cunningham (also John Pope in TNT’s Falling Skies), no one can out dandy Sink. He’s eccentric, he might be insane, and you can’t help but be charmed by the man with personality to spare. 

Blood Drive Was Pure Grindhouse Fun

Alan Ritchson’s involvement in Blood Drive seems weird to everyone who only knows him from Reacher. Ritchson’s sense of humor lands right in the Grindhouse aesthetic, which is why he can deliver lines like “why are hot girls so mean,” when the Amazon Queen has him tied down. It’s an insane series that is well-served by the case-of-the-week setup. In addition to the Amazons and cannibals, there are nymphomaniacs, zombies, an asylum, a fight club, and an Asian martial arts-inspired episode. Again, this is an insane series filled with blood, guts, and sex. Thanks to the two leads, there’s something here to appeal to anyone. 

Blood Drive only lasted one season and it sort of wraps up the story. SyFy cited poor ratings, but then again, they didn’t do a whole lot of marketing for the show that sounds ridiculous at first, and remains ridiculous, but it hides a wicked sense of black humor. Blood Drive is hard to find streaming, with episodes only available for purchase from YouTube and Fandango at Home, and the Blu-Ray has been out of print for nearly a decade. 

If you can find it, Blood Drive is the perfect watch for anyone who enjoys the old-school grindhouse aesthetic, or wants something that dares to be different. The best part of the series though, the fake commercials for Grindhouse movies, the same gag used by Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez’s Grindhouse double-feature, are left off the home video releases. Still, if you want to see Alan Ritchson murder people, or Colin Cunningham have the time of his life, it’s worth hunting down a copy of SyFy’s bloodiest series ever.
