Pep Guardiola gives unusual Man City farewell at Bournemouth

Published

on

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola did not linger long with the away fans at Bournemouth after the 1-1 Premier League draw

Is he definitely off then? That was what plenty of Manchester City fans left the Bournemouth stadium asking themselves after they watched the end of their team’s Premier League hopes for another season.

The news that they have been dreading for years came on the eve of the game, that Pep Guardiola will be leaving the club at the end of the season. After ten years and twenty trophies, he has decided that this is the right time to depart.

But it hasn’t been confirmed officially, and until that happens there will be some hope. What’s more, Guardiola suggested in his interviews after the game that his future would only be decided in talks with chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak over the coming days.

If that feels to anyone that has covered the story like it will simply be a matter of rubber-stamping a departure that he has already made peace with, the City chairman will not give up until it is categorically over and there is no more talking to be done. There is a chance that there is no communicado oficial before Friday afternoon when Guardiola next sits down for a press conference.

Something definitely felt off with the manager on Tuesday though when the final whistle went. It started off as he often does, arguing with the fourth official about decisions that he felt hadn’t gone City’s way – primarily the lack of time added on at the end of the game given Erling Haaland scored in injury time.

The Catalan then headed onto the pitch, where he congratulated the Bournemouth players and recognised his own before going over to the away end. But as the City stars lingered to show their support, Guardiola – usually one of the last to leave at an away game – only clapped briefly before turning and walking back across the pitch on his own and headed inside.

Without even speculating over what it could or couldn’t mean, the facts of it are that it was unusual – and noticed by fans as a departure from what he normally does. That added to the uncertainty over the next few days, even if Guardiola is clear on his love for the supporters.

Manchester City and PUMA have launched the club’s new home kit for the 2026/27 season, designed with a full gradient of sky blue that’s darker at the shoulders and lightening as it falls with metallic monochrome crest and sponsor details.

“Let me talk with my chairman,” he said afterwards. “I know they love me so much, I love them more. It’s the best place to be. I love that place, I adore it. Let me talk about my club. People say I talk with a million people and I was incredibly focused on my job. We are in the competitions. I was there and this is what I have to do.”

More than 60,000 pairs of eyes will be on the manager on Sunday at the Etihad where Blues will hope the farewell is not as strange as it was at Bournemouth.

Spygate chaos hands Man United transfer green light for midfielder Jason Wilcox loves

Published

Manchester United could just have received an unlikely transfer boost

Manchester United could take advantage of Southampton’s ‘Spygate’ scandal by making a move for Shea Charles.

The Saints have been removed from the Championship play-offs after EFL confirmed that they had broken the rules concerning unauthorised filming of opposition teams. The football body stated that Southampton admitted “multiple breaches” of regulations by filming Middlesbrough, Oxford and Ipswich Town during the season.

This resulted in their removal from the Championship play-off final against Hull City. Boro are now heading to Wembley in their place, while Southampton have also been hit with a four-point deduction next season. The Saints are set to appeal this decision, with a final decision set to be announced today.

With this in mind, United could accelerate their pursuit of Charles after the Mail reported in April that the club were interested in the FA Cup hero. The 22-year-old has scored against Arsenal and Liverpool this season and has also caught the attention of Premier League rivals Everton.

He was also the match-winner for Southampton against Middlesbrough in their extra-time Championship play-off semi-final victory. However, this goal looks set to stand for nothing as the EFL ruled for the Saints to remain in the second-tier.

Charles has scored six goals and assisted twice in 38 appearances this season and is valued at around £20million by the Saints. While a promotion to the Premier League could have helped the club strengthen their grip on key stars, Southampton’s likely continued stay in the Championship means their hand could be forced when it comes to transfers this summer.

The young midfielder was signed from Manchester City for £11m three years ago when Jason Wilcox was still the Saints’ director of football. At the time, Wilcox had high hopes for the then-teenager and purchased him to replace the departing Romeo Lavia who headed to Chelsea.

Scouts watched on as Charles starred for Northern Ireland in their World Cup play-off defeat to Italy in March. United are in the market for multiple midfielders this summer as Casemiro departs the club.

Manuel Ugarte is also expected to leave with Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson and Newcastle’s Sandro Tonali included in their current transfer shortlist. However, Anderson is valued at a whopping £100m by his club with a £70m price tag placed on Tonali.

Charles is on the other end of the budget scale for United and could end up being a bargain signing. Everton are also credited with an interest as well as Scottish side Rangers.

Southampton respond after expulsion from Championship play-offs for spying

Published

on

Southampton have claimed that their punishment for spying on opposition clubs is the “largest penalty ever imposed on an English football club” after appealing against their expulsion from the play-offs and points decduction.

The English Football League (EFL) has kicked Southampton out of Saturday’s final with Hull City following an investigation into allegations made by Middlesbrough FC ahead of the pair’s play-off semi-final. Boro are now instead due to play Hull for a place in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon at Wembley.

Southampton – who have also been given a four-point deduction next season – admitted charges of spying on three clubs ahead of fixtures thie season, including Middlesbrough, but have exercised their right to appeal the sanctions levied.

A decision is expected later on Wednesday as to whether they will be reinstated for the final, with Southampton believing the punishment to not be commensurate to the crime.

“What happened was wrong,” Phil Parsons, Southampton’s chief executive, said in a statement. “The club has admitted breaches of EFL Regulations 3.4 and 127. We are sorry to the other clubs involved, and most of all to the Southampton supporters whose extraordinary loyalty and support this season deserved better from the club.

“We have provided our full co-operation to the EFL’s investigation and disciplinary process. Following the appeal, we will also be writing to the EFL to volunteer our participation in a working group on the practical application and enforcement of Regulation 127 across the Championship. Contrition without change is hollow, and we intend to demonstrate change.

“On the appeal itself: we accept that there should be a sanction. What we cannot accept is a sanction which bears no proportion to the offence. Whereas Leeds United was fined £200,000 for a similar offence, Southampton has been denied the opportunity to compete in a game worth more than £200 million and one which means so much to our staff, players and supporters.”

The Championship play-off final is often called the richest game in football given the sizeable sums on offer to the winner that come with promotion to the Premier League.

Parsons continued: “We believe the financial consequence of yesterday’s ruling makes it, by a very considerable distance, the largest penalty ever imposed on an English football club.

“Luton Town’s 30-point deduction in 2008/09 — to date the most severe sporting sanction in the English game — was levied against a club already in League Two, with no comparable revenue at stake. Derby County’s 21-point deduction in 2021 cost them their Championship status. Everton‘s eventual six-point deduction in 2023/24 followed losses of £124.5 million, a figure dwarfed by what has been taken from Southampton in a single afternoon. The largest financial penalty ever levied by the Premier League, against Chelsea in March of this year, was £10.75 million, and was accompanied by no sporting sanction whatsoever despite involving £47.5 million in undisclosed payments over seven years.

We say this not to minimise what occurred at this club, which we have accepted was wrong. We say it because proportionality is itself a principle of natural justice. The Commission was entitled to impose a sanction. It was not, we will argue, entitled to impose one that is manifestly disproportionate to every previous sanction in the history of the English game.”

It is thought that the matter will be considered settled after the appeal hearing with neither the EFL nor Southampton able to take the decision to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (Cas).

Southampton hit out at ‘manifestly disproportionate’ punishment

Published

on

Southampton say they have appealed their removal from the Championship play-offs as it is “manifestly disproportionate to every previous sanction in the history of the English game”.

An EFL independent disciplinary commission on Tuesday evening expelled Southampton from the play-offs and reinstated Middlesbrough, who are now set to face Hull City in the final on Saturday.

The St Mary’s club were also deducted four points in the Championship next season.

Saints’ appeal will be heard by an independent league arbitration panel later on Wednesday.

A statement added that what the club “cannot accept a sanction which bears no proportion to the offence”.

Sugar Ray Leonard ranks one member of the Four Kings above the others

Published

on

Sugar Ray Leonard believes there is a clear choice for which of his fellow ‘Four Kings’ was the best of the lot.

The legendary quartet of Leonard, Marvin Hagler, Roberto Duran and Thomas Hearns dominated the boxing landscape throughout the 1980s, as they each took part in epic battles with one another.

Leonard has the honour of being the only one who was able to beat the other three, though he wasn’t able to go undefeated against his rivals after suffering a loss to Duran.

While he may have come up short against the Panamanian icon, Leonard sided with another of the prestigious boxers as being the best, telling Ring Magazine that he believes Hearns ranks above the others.

“It was Tommy [Hearns]. I don’t think anything matches our first fight.”

Leonard fought Hearns on two occasions, the first of which coming in September 1981, where ‘The Hitman’ suffered a 14th round stoppage loss in their welterweight world title unification.

The pair collided again at super-middleweight at the end of the decade, with their June 1989 ending in a controversial split decision draw, though many onlookers believed that Hearns had done enough to win.

It’s clear why Leonard views Hearns as being the best that the ‘Four Kings’ had to offer, with ‘The Hitman having had an illustrious career which saw him become the first boxer in history to win world titles in five divisions.

Those triumphs came at welterweight, light middleweight, middleweight, super middleweight and light heavyweight, as Hearns finished with 61 wins from his 67 professional fights.

“This is a new level of stupid”- Fans shut down viral NDA rumors linking BTS’ RM and a concertgoer after Stanford interaction goes viral

Published

on

Following BTS’ three-night concert run at Stanford Stadium on May 16, 17, and 19, 2026 as part of the ARIRANG World Tour, a brief interaction between the group’s leader RM and a fan became the center of online discussion. The moment gained traction after a concertgoer shared a video showing the rapper reacting to her sign board that read, “Namjoon, I’m a pro rider”. The sentence was a reference to a lyric from the rapper’s track Nuts from his second studio album Right Place, Wrong Person.

The clip quickly spread across social media platforms, with many fans initially treating the interaction as a lighthearted concert moment. However, the conversation escalated after screenshots and reposts on X began circulating alongside claims that the fan had allegedly “signed an NDA” involving RM.

The speculation reportedly stemmed from sarcastic replies and joke posts made by fans online after the concert. As the posts gained traction, some internet users began presenting the comments as factual, leading to wider rumors suggesting that RM had been romantically or physically involved with the fan.

The situation prompted many BTS fans to push back against the speculation, arguing that the comments were clearly intended as jokes and criticizing the way the discussion had spiraled online. Several fans also pointed out that references to non-disclosure agreements were frequently used jokingly on social media in celebrity-related conversations. One fan wrote,

“This this is a new level of stupid cause not only can you NOT mention an nda, even vaguely, y’all genuinely believing a fan saying she “had s*x” with a whole a** kpop idol please be serious for a second”

This is a new level of stupid cause not only can you NOT mention an nda, even vaguely, y’all genuinely believing a fan saying she “had s**” with a whole a** kpop idol please be serious for a second

Others echoed similar reactions, calling for people not to spread unverified claims or turn sarcastic remarks into rumors presented as fact.

Bro it’s sarcasm. You’re so slow.

no way y’all actually believe this lmao. if she really signed an NDA she wouldn’t be able to even vaguely mention it like this, it would break the NDA and she’d get in trouble. she’s obviously milking this for attention and to fulfill her Y/N fantasies

I can’t stop laughing, THIS IS REALLY PULLING CLUES OUT OF HIS A**

Meanwhile, some fans joked about the viral claims involving RM, sarcastically calling the people spreading the rumors “delusional” while others playfully denied the allegations.

im gonna start a rumor about myself

if i ever become this messy and delusional and my grown age just shoot me bro

false information! namjoon was at my house that night

Some others also questioned the backlash, arguing that even if such claims were true, both individuals are adults and any alleged interaction would have been consensual.

If they are both adults and it was consensual, so what is the problem?
