I have a few questions for the server gurus:
1) Can I use "normal" DDR3 rams that I have been using on my desktop PC with the server boards and Xeon cpus?
2) Does these boards have RAID0 capability out of the box?
3) Can I overclock these CPUs (multiplier or FSB overclock etc.) without any physical alteration?
To be clear: I want to both game and render videos on such a setup (not at the same time though).

Why the DIY? The Fujitsu CELSIUS R930 has exactly this MB in a tower case. You get the same thing as you modded already done.

I purchased an off lease HP Z620 workstation with two E5 2690 Xeon 8 core cpu's and it comes with a 240 gig SSD 1TB HDD plus 96 gig of ram. I plan on putting my GTX 1060 6 gig FE card in it as it is just lying around doing nothing so why purchase a new GPU. I also have an older GTX 950 and a Quaddro 600 something so I will see which one works better in the system. It will take version 2 CPU's as well so a pair of 10 or 12 core Xeons and a Tesla K20 is in the near future.

for me a loud pc is no problem because i use headphones anyways 🙂 i'll post my specs in a bit LOL.
it isn't used for much gaming (a little but nothing big).
its primarily used for virtualbox

I hate server motherboards because of EFI bios, because they take 5-10 minutes just to get past the bios boot, because their fans run loud as heck, and because they don't support suspend or resume for sleep. Audio is also lacking on most of them, and their PCI express connector is slow. It's that damn massive amount of ram most of them get dumped with onto the market that is so tempting…but from experience, these damn things run so glacially slow it's not worth it. Frustrating as hell, like you were back in the stone age days of computing.

I use a pair of Deepcool Gammaxx 400 coolers in my dual E5 2440 setup. I added standoffs and just screwed directly onto them. They work brilliant. Cost me bugger all.

I know this is an old video. With that said, mine has a pair of E5-2680's, 128 gigs of 1600 mhz ECC ram, and an RX580. I haven't tried any games yet, but it crunches numbers like greased lightning.

Looks like a spring loaded punch tool would work great for marking screw holes, just dial it back a bit 😂 the tools is like a couple bucks, and the dimple it creates keeps the drill bit from walking
