Right about the time everyone seemed to be canceling their Disney+ subscriptions for taking Jimmy Kimmel off the air, Lucasfilm released the trailer for “The Mandalorian & Grogu,” which just so happens to be the first “Star Wars” movie to hit theaters since “The Rise of Skywalker” wrapped up the nine-episode Skywalker Saga in 2019. The trailer hardly made a splash online, which is why many “Star Wars” fans hoped to see an extended trailer with new footage during the Super Bowl. What they saw instead left many disappointed.

Considering the price tag for a Super Bowl commercial slot these days, many were hoping for a strong marketing campaign during the game. Instead, audiences got a brief 30-second ad that was basically a parody of a Budweiser commercial, featuring the titular Mandalorian, played by Pedro Pascal, and Grogu, also known as Baby Yoda, being pulled along by Tauntauns rather than the typical Budweiser Clydesdale horses.

While it was a cute parody ad, many fans were rightfully concerned with the poor marketing job that Lucasfilm has been doing for this movie. After three seasons on Disney+, is the casual viewer aware that “The Mandalorian & Grogu” is actually a movie set to hit theaters this May? Although “Star Wars” fans are definitely aware of it, the general public may not be.

After all, the last “Star Wars” film to hit theaters was all the way back in 2019, even before the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown. “The Rise of Skywalker” proved to be so controversial that Disney seemed to give up on theatrical releases and turn their attention to various Disney+ series: “The Acolyte,” “Obi-Wan Kenobi,” “Andor,” “Skeleton Crew,” “Ahsoka,” and “The Book of Boba Fett,” to name a few. All of these shows had various ranges of success or failure, but they were not theatrical releases.

Over on YouTube, many reactions were mixed. One user said that they were at a bar watching the Super Bowl and “Everyone in the bar thought it was a toy commercial,” which shows how confusing the ad really was.

“This feels like a new Ford truck commercial more than a Star Wars trailer,” another fan lamented. “Thought Mando was gonna toss me a cold Bud Light,” another user joked.

“You have the opportunity to market the first Star Wars film in six and a half years at the Super Bowl, and all you give us is a Ford ad?!” another fan asked, prompting another user to reply, “They probably know that it isn’t a good film, so they don’t want to show too much.”

In a statement shared by Variety, Disney’s executive VP of creative marketing, Jackson George, seemed to defend the controversial ad:

“Grogu is more than a character; he’s a pop culture phenomenon. Riding alongside the heroic Mandalorian, he brings lightness, humor, joy, and an instant emotional connection that transcends the moment. This Big Game spot celebrates how deeply we love and connect with these characters, reminds us of the fun, heart, and spectacle that defines Star Wars, and offers a bite-sized promise of the experience audiences will get when they see these two beloved icons on the big screen.”

The reality TV star and the F1 driver seemingly confirmed their budding romance on the social media app with a heartwarming family post.

The new update follows Kim Kardashian and Lewis Hamilton’s recent outings that have fueled speculations of their romance. However, they have yet to confirm their relationship.

Kim recently updated her Instagram page with a video of a fun moment between her and her sisters, Khloé Kardashian and Kylie Jenner. The clip began with Kylie announcing that they would be taking on the Titanic Challenge.

The viral trend saw one person rolling over from the ground onto their partner’s thighs and pushing themselves up to mimic the iconic “I’m flying” scene from the hit movie. However, unlike the usual flawless edits on social media, the Kar-Jenner siblings had a tough time.

The video saw Kim repeatedly trying and failing to hit the pose with Khloé as her partner. During one of her many attempts, what sounded a lot like Hamilton’s voice could be heard in the background, encouraging his perceived lover to push off. He was also heard laughing.

Kim’s post received over six thousand comments, many from fans who believed she had soft-launched her romance with Hamilton on the platform. “Am I the only one who can hear Lewis’s laugh?” someone asked, receiving positive responses from other IG users.

“We all heard Lewis Hamilton’s voice in the background, right?” another fan asked, with more IG users confirming they heard the F1 racer’s voice. “Lewis and Kim. Power couple!!! Best match and decision for both of you. I love it so much!!!” an admirer raved.

The positive comments continued with more fans claiming they could recognize Hamilton’s signature chuckle anywhere, while others asked for more fun family content with the Kar-Jenner siblings. “I love us,” Kim captioned the post, offering no information about the man in the background.

Kim and Hamilton’s appearance at the Super Bowl had fans wondering what they were discussing during the game. The Blast reported that Nicola Hickling, a lip-reading expert, had shared her thoughts on the conversation the pair had.

According to the expert, Hamilton and Kim talked about meeting his mother. He allegedly told his speculated girlfriend, “I don’t take just any girl to my mom, I mean, you’re gonna meet her someday, she is very excited to see you.”

Body language expert Judi James also weighed in on Kim and Hamilton’s Super Bowl interaction. James claimed that Kim used a “hot and cool” flirting technique to keep Hamilton’s attention fully focused on her. Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl LX halftime show is breaking unimaginable records. 

The Puerto Rican superstar’s much-talked-about performance on Feb 8 keeps ringing in milestones, from becoming the first halftime headliner to feature a Puerto Rican Sign Language (LSPR) interpreter to pausing bathroom breaks across New York City, according to new statistics. 

Despite the accolades, Bad Bunny’s show has aroused mixed reactions from celebrities and even Donald Trump. 

NYC Water shared data revealing how glued viewers were to their screens during Bad Bunny’s set, showing a striking contrast between bathroom usage during the show and immediately afterward.

 “NYC saw a significant reduction in water usage throughout the five boroughs during the Super Bowl’s #BadBunny halftime show yesterday,” the agency wrote in a post on X. “But in the 15 minutes right after the show ended, there was a spike in usage equivalent to 761,719 toilets flushing across town. #SBLX”

As expected, fans wasted no time in commending the record. One internet user gushed about the accomplishments, writing, “If ‘holding it in’ was an Olympic sport, NYC just took the Gold. That’s the power of a legendary halftime show!”

A second individual added that nearly a million people stayed tuned, and yet critics labeled the show a “bathroom break.” This other fan quipped that Bad Bunny sparked the biggest “synchronized flush in NYC history.”

One fan praised viewers for “holding their pee,” while another joked that Bad Bunny had the city dancing first and sprinting to the bathroom afterward.

This internet user dubbed the 31-year-old singer “Environment protective Puerto Rican Papi,” and another suggested he should be given a Nobel prize for environmental protection.

In addition to the water record, The Blast reported that the halftime show also marked a groundbreaking moment for featuring a Puerto Rican Sign Language Interpreter for the first time.

Celimar Rivera Cosme, who has worked with the Grammy Winner for four years, was hired directly by the NFL to interpret the performance. 

While American Sign Language (ASL) is typically used at major U.S. events, it is not the primary language for many of Puerto Rico’s estimated 220,000 deaf and hard-of-hearing residents.

Amid the wave of accomplishments, Bad Bunny’s halftime show also earned high praise from popular figures, including John Mellencamp, Meghan McCain, and California Governor Gavin Newsom.

As The Blast previously reported, Mellencamp applauded the performance for its cultural message, writing, “I don’t know what Bad Bunny is saying; however, I do know he is standing up for Puerto Rico, and I am standing up for him. His halftime show was great.”

McCain echoed a similar sentiment and questioned the backlash surrounding the gig. “I’m sorry, but I just genuinely question your taste level if you didn’t enjoy the Bad Bunny halftime show,” McCain wrote.

California Governor Gavin Newsom weighed in on the performance, describing it as beautiful. 

However, not everyone in Hollywood was pleased with the show, as two “Real Housewives” alums wasted no time in voicing their disappointment with it. Jill Zarin blasted the show in a video reposted on X, calling it “the worst halftime show ever.” 

She suggested that elements of the show, like the absence of “White people,” were meant to make a political statement. Zarin also took issue with Bad Bunny’s choreography, claiming the grabbing of his crotch signaled insecurity.

Taylor Armstrong followed suit in her criticism. She posted on her Instagram an edited image of herself on Russell Crowe’s body from “Gladiator,” with a caption highlighting her embarrassment at the NFL.

During an episode of Candace Cameron Bure’s podcast, Prewett—the runner-up of season 24 of the long-running dating show—recalled her earlier experiences living a “double life” due to what she labeled as her relationship with sexual sin.

Madi Prewett shared that she didn’t start living an authentic life until she entered college, where she was able to break “free” from her addictive “cycle.”

Prewett has been open about her Christian faith before, and while speaking with “Full House” alum Bure, she shared even more about her spirituality.

During the conversation, Prewett was candid and spoke about a deeply personal issue that she said began in her teenage years.

“Around 13, 14 I got introduced to pornography at a young age by a friend and that started a long battle for me with porn and masturbation,” she told Bure. “And that created a lot of shame and secrecy in my life.”

For Prewett, fighting her addiction to pornography was challenging, largely due to how she presented herself to the outside world.

“And on the outside, it looked like everything was fine. But behind closed doors I was living this double life of living in constant secret sexual sin and not confessing it to anybody,” she said.

Prewett, who has been married to her husband Grant Troutt since 2022, later told Bure that her addiction to pornography only brought her “sin and shame,” something she couldn’t overcome until college.

“It wasn’t until college when I really confessed that sin and the shame from that sin for the first time,” she said. “And I got free from it, and I was able to break free from that addiction and that cycle.”

Prewett stated that she felt much “lighter” after opening up about her sexual sin. “I felt freer it was the opposite of the lies that Satan was whispering in my mind.”

As Prewett’s emotional conversation with Bure continued, the mother of one added that being honest about her addiction with those closest to her helped her learn that life with God was a judgment-free zone.

“That was really what that journey was like for me,” she said. “Even to this day, having moments of shame popping back up, immediately just confess it and get it into the light and share it with a friend.”

Prewett previously opened up about her struggle with pornography during an episode of her own show, “Stay True,” according to a report from The Blast.

During the episode, Prewett stated that her addiction to sexually explicit material caused more harm than good.

“I questioned my worth and my identity. Every time I gave into sexual sin, I didn’t know my purpose,” she shared.

Also, during that episode, Prewett echoed a sentiment similar to the one above, revealing that even today she chooses to walk in the light rather than retreat when things get hard.

“It’s still a choice for me every single day, even as a married woman, to not return back to the past of my sexual sin addictions,” Prewett explained. “It’s still a choice every single day for me not to choose to lust after things that I see online or to give into a feeling that arises.”

Prewett isn’t the only one who has had to resist difficult urges, according to The Blast. On her podcast, Prewett spoke with her husband about his own struggles—something he described as a “shameful, roller-coaster cycle.”

Troutt admitted to smoking marijuana and being addicted to pornography before something clicked, prompting a deeply personal experience with his faith.

“It drove me to this place where I have nothing but [God]. … I just remember walking with Jesus, [and] he was healing me. It was like he was stripping everything in my life because it was drawing me right into the person of Jesus Christ,” he said.
