West Ham United are reportedly keeping a close eye on Sheffield United midfielder Sydie Peck and could be ready to test the Blades’ resolve with an offer in the coming days.

According to The West Ham Way, the Hammers have registered a firm interest in the talented youngster and are weighing up a move as they continue to reshape their squad ahead of the new Championship campaign.

It comes as little surprise that Peck is attracting admirers after an outstanding breakthrough season at Bramall Lane. The academy graduate established himself as one of Chris Wilder’s most trusted players, making 36 starts across the campaign while contributing five goals and four assists from midfield.

His energetic displays, composure in possession and growing influence in both boxes made him one of Sheffield United’s standout performers. Still only at the beginning of his senior career, Peck showed maturity beyond his years and became an integral part of the side despite fierce competition for places. That development has inevitably attracted attention.

The Blades have no desire to lose one of their brightest academy products, particularly with both clubs preparing for life in the Championship. Selling a key player to a direct promotion rival is never a good thing, and United would only entertain discussions if an offer reached a level that was simply impossible to ignore.

Financially, every club has a price for its players, but the valuation Sheffield United place on Peck is expected to be significant given his age, homegrown status and enormous potential.

There is also a widespread feeling around Bramall Lane that Peck is still some way from reaching his ceiling. Another full season of Championship football could see him take another major leap in his development, both technically and physically, making him an even more complete midfielder.

Chris Wilder has consistently shown faith in young players willing to embrace responsibility, and Peck repaid that trust throughout last season. His ability to press aggressively, break up opposition attacks and arrive in dangerous attacking areas added an extra dimension to Sheffield United’s midfield.

Arblaster will continue to develop into one of the division’s standout midfielders after making his way back from a serious knee injury, while Peck’s emergence has provided Wilder with another dynamic option capable of influencing matches at both ends of the pitch.

The balance gives Sheffield United one of the strongest midfield groups in the Championship. And that group could yet become even stronger. United are still expected to pursue another loan move for Manchester City’s Kalvin Phillips in the coming weeks. Should a deal materialise, Phillips would bring Premier League and international experience to Bramall Lane while adding further quality and leadership to Wilder’s options.

Even if Phillips were to arrive, however, it is unlikely to alter Sheffield United’s stance on Peck. The club views the academy graduate as part of both its present and future, rather than someone who can easily be sacrificed to fund other business.

A midfielder with Championship pedigree, room for further improvement and experience of handling the demands of a promotion chase, Peck will be seen as an appealing addition for several teams in the top two English divisions.
