This week has been dominated by talk of physical media dying out for good, after Sony announced it would stop manufacturing physical video game discs starting in 2028. The news shook up the entire entertainment industry. And it wasn’t just a gaming problem either, since Sony also happens to be one of the biggest manufacturers of Blu-rays on the market.

But it looks like there’s finally some good news for physical media, because one of the most underrated and slept-on rom-coms of recent years is about to get a major physical media upgrade. The film in question opened to a lackluster $6 million in the United States and Canada during its December 2023 debut, and critics weren’t exactly kind to it either. Still, a rom-com led by two of Hollywood’s most beautiful, charismatic new stars was always going to find its audience, and it did exactly that.

That film is Anyone But You, starring Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell, and it went on to gross $220 million worldwide on a modest $25 million budget. The movie already got a Blu-ray release back in March 2024, and has continued performing well on streaming and PVOD platforms ever since. Now, it looks like those original Blu-rays have been flying off shelves, because Sony has decided to give the film a proper 4K upgrade. A new 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray is currently up for pre-order at $34.99, with a release date set for July 21.

‘Anyone But You’ Remains One of the Most Divisive Rom-Coms in Recent Memory

Anyone But You holds a rotten 53% critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes, but general audiences clearly disagreed, handing it a stellar 87% score of their own. That gap is unusual, since critics tend to be more forgiving toward the rom-com genre as a whole. Jennifer Lawrence‘s No Hard Feelings, released that same year, managed to score a much better 71% critics’ score by comparison. Critics were tougher on Anyone But You largely because it leaned on familiar rom-com tropes instead of putting a fresh spin on them.

For general audiences, though, that familiarity was part of the charm. It delivered exactly the kind of wholesome yet raunchy rom-com experience people had been craving to see on the big screen, packed with flirty banter, ridiculous misunderstandings, and of course, plenty of butts and boobs. The cliffside spider scene, where Sweeney’s character has to reach into Powell’s shorts to remove a spider, is worth the price of admission alone. With a 4K release now locked in, fans finally get the chance to revisit the movie in the best quality yet.

President Donald Trump is giving insight into what he says where Senator Lindsey Graham’s final hours before his shocking death at age 71.

“So, what makes it even stranger is I got a call last night something in the early evening — maybe in the sevens — and he called and said, ‘We’re all set for the Save America Act,’ the president, 80, said while calling into the Sunday, July 12, episode of NBC’s Meet the Press. (Trump was referring to his controversial voting bill that many experts have argued will actually make it more difficult for U.S. citizens to vote.)

”He was pushing the Save America Act like crazy,” the president continued. “He got back, said he just landed from Ukraine, I said, ‘That’s a long trip.’ He sounded a little tired, but perfect, but a little bit tired — he had the right to be, he was a worker. He was really a worker. But he sounded great, actually. But he actually said he was tired.”

Trump added, “But he wanted to pass the Save America Act, and I said, “Well, we’re gonna get it done, Lindsey. We’re gonna get it done. See you soon.’ We might even meet today, and then that was it. That was very, around the time… it couldn’t have been much longer. It could have been his last call, I don’t know exactly.”

The South Carolina senator’s office confirmed Sunday morning that Graham had died the previous evening at the age of 71 after battling a “brief and sudden illness.”

“On the evening of Saturday, July 11, U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham passed away from a brief and sudden illness,” a spokesperson for the late politician said in a written statement shared via X. “Senator Graham’s family appreciates prayers at this time and asks for privacy during this incredibly difficult period.”

According to a report from NBC News, emergency services personnel responded to a call for “cardiac arrest” at the late senator’s Washington, D.C. home on Saturday evening. Photos obtained by the outlet indicated that medics carried a person out of the residence on a stretched and into an ambulance.

Senator Graham’s official cause of death has not been released at the time of publication.

Graham was scheduled to appear on Meet the Press on Sunday to discuss his recent visit to Kyiv, where he met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

“Senator Lindsey Graham was scheduled to appear on @MeetThePress this morning,” moderator Kristen Welker wrote via X early on Sunday. “It would have been his 64th appearance on this broadcast. We are sending our deepest condolences to his family and colleagues.”

While speaking to Welker Sunday morning, President Trump detailed his initial reaction to the news that Graham had died.

“I got a message about one in the morning from one of the people in ihs office that he had passed away,” Trump recalled. “I said … I just can’t believe it. He was like a member of the family to me. It is very tough actually.”

When asked to discuss Graham’s legacy following his shocking death, Trump recalled how much the late politician loved the job.

“There was nobody like him,” he said. “He loved beinga politician and he was going to win his election. He was going to win it big. I endorsed him very early and he was gonna win it big He just got it made, and he just loved being a politician. I said, ‘The reason I’m endorsing you is because I gotta make sure you win because if you didn’t win I don’t think you can handle life.’ You know, there are guys who can lose and go into something else. I couldn’t imagine him doing something else.”

The president continued, ‘I said, ‘If you weren’t a U.S. senator I don’t think you could live for very long.’ And look what happened.”

The video game industry is never far from controversy, although it seems that, lately, there have been more controversies than usual. The biggest of these came last week, when PlayStation announced it would stop producing physical game discs beginning in 2028. This announcement was never going to go down well, but perhaps PlayStation didn’t anticipate just how big the backlash would be. At a time when digital media is becoming more common than ever, fans have been returning to physical preservation, with the rate of decline in DVD sales starting to slow.

For fans to at least have the option to physically purchase their latest favorite game seems decent, so it’s far from surprising that this announcement from PlayStation has disappointed millions. Add to this Sony’s recent removal of hundreds of purchased movies from users’ digital libraries due to licensing changes, and the storm is starting to entice even the biggest voices to speak out. One such voice is that of legendary director Hideo Kojima, best known for his work on the Metal Gear and Death Stranding franchises.

Speaking about PlayStation’s decision at the Il Cinema in Piazza Film Festival in Italy, Kojima expressed his frustration with the decision, saying (translated into English), “Since production is ending in 2028, this is about video games, but I grew up with physical media, so I find it really sad.” He continued, “The situation is different for games, as they are downloaded to the hard drive; that means the game data remains on your own hardware. However, if things shift to streaming in the future, that won’t be the case anymore.” Fears for the future haven’t escaped even the most talented of video game minds, with Kojima further adding:

“There are companies that own these servers and let you ‘turn the tap’ for a monthly fee. However, with nations, politics and various ways of thinking, one naturally has to consider the possibility that if there is a change, the data inside will stop being distributed. And if that happens, you won’t be able to watch or play the movies and games you like.”

Bringing Reacher star Alan Ritchson‘s dream to life, it was recently announced that Metal Gear Solid would be getting a feature film courtesy of Sony. Final Destination Bloodlines filmmakers Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein are set to direct, with Avi Arad and Ari Arad producing. There have been rumors about drama between the cast of “The Cheetah Girls” for nearly two decades now. For those who may be unfamiliar, Symoné appeared in the franchise’s first two films in 2003 and 2006 but opted not to return for the third movie in 2008.

In 2020, Symoné and Kiely discussed their issues with each other during an Instagram livestream, in which Symoné revealed that she felt excluded from the group while making the first two films.

“The cliquish way that there was during that movie made me feel excluded from my original team set,” she said. “Not that it was strong to begin with, but I felt excluded. That was when me and Belinda started being friends because we felt ostracized.”

Later in the conversation, Symoné told Kiely that she had problems with more than just her. “You know what’s next on the list. I talked to Adrienne,” Symoné said before telling her that she needed to fix their issues.

Kiely, though, wasn’t going for it, telling Symoné that she wasn’t interested in connecting with the “Real” alum for deeply personal reasons.

“She didn’t come to my dad’s funeral or call me when he died,” Kiely said. “I’m sorry, I’m not trying to be messy. I’m being for real with you, no. You can say what you want about me and how you felt about me, but you can’t ever say that I didn’t f—— ride for Adrienne. You can’t say that.”

As for Bryan’s relationship with Kiely, she said in 2024 that she and Kiely, who played Aqua in the franchise, were on great terms. “Kiely has been one of my best friends since the start to end,” she told E! News.

“From the first movie, we really connected,” Bryan continued, before sharing that they’ve made special memories together since they first connected in the early 2000s.

“She was my maid of honor in my wedding,” she said. “I was her maid of honor.”

‘The Cheetah Girls 4’ Will Feature A New Group Of Aspiring Pop Stars

According to a previous report from The Blast, “The Cheetah Girls 4” will be executive produced by Symoné and Debra Martin Chase. The movie will follow Symoné and Bailon’s characters, along with Symoné’s daughter and Bailon’s sister, as they travel to Africa to volunteer at a wildlife sanctuary.

There, the group of young, aspiring pop stars will “find their voice and discover the true Cheetah spirit as they save the preserve and ultimately take the stage as the new Cheetah Girls.”
