“We stopped one man and two women and, as a result, a man aged in his 40s was arrested for possession of a class C drug, possession of a Class C drug with intent to supply, and resisting arrest. The two women were permitted to leave. “Whilst dealing with this incident, a further man to whom police wished to speak, made off on foot and was believed to have gained access to the former Donegall Pass Police Station. Due to concerns for his welfare, a thorough search operation was commenced by our officers with the support of colleagues from Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service. “The man has not yet been located and, at this stage, it isn’t believed that anyone was injured. Our enquiries continue.” Inspector Brown went on: “In a separate, unconnected, incident at around the same time, officers on a beat patrol of Donegall Pass stopped a vehicle and subsequently arrested a man in his 20s for driving whilst unfit through drink or drugs. “Both men remain in custody. We are aware of the concerns people have about crime in the wider university and Botanic area. We will continue to proactively patrol these areas in order to arrest those committing offences and bring them before the courts. We are committed to keeping South Belfast safe.“ Police have appealed to anyone who might have any information which would assist with their enquiries into these matters to contact them on 101, quoting reference number 607 of 11/12/25.
