Netflix Officially Revives ‘Stranger Things’ Star’s Forgotten Fantasy Epic
Few fantasy books are richer in detail than Cassandra Clare‘s The Mortal Instruments. The six-book series builds a supernatural world centered on Clary Fray, a young woman who discovers she comes from a long line of warriors called Shadowhunters. These half-angel entities protect humans from supernatural threats. The book series was the perfect material for Freeform‘s YA boom, and it was adapted into a TV series that ran for three seasons.
Titled Shadowhunters, the show starred Katherine McNamara as Clary, the young woman at the center of the story whose world changes almost overnight. She embarks on adventures with her friends and acquaintances that she meets along the way as she discovers a hidden world full of supernatural entities like vampires, werewolves, witches, and more. Shadowhunters was a hit for Freeform, with each season gaining more acclaim than the last. The show — which also starred Dominic Sherwood (Jace), Alberto Rosende (Simon), Emeraude Toubia (Isabelle), Matthew Daddario (Alec), Isaiah Mustafa (Luke), Harry Shum Jr. (Magnus), and others — did not overstay its welcome, concluding in 2018.
But before Shadowhunters was a thing, there was another adaptation, this time in a feature film format. Three years before the series premiered, Harald Zwart directed The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones. The film starred Lily Collins (Clary), Jamie Campbell Bower (Jace), Robert Sheehan (Simon), Kevin Zegers (Alec), and Lena Headey (Jocelyn). Unfortunately, the 2013 film was not a success critically or commercially. It is rated 14% by critics and 58% by viewers on Rotten Tomatoes. Any subsequent plans for a sequel were scrapped despite a second movie having entered pre-production. The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones is now streaming on Netflix after being removed last year.
Why Did ‘City of Bones’ Flop While ‘Shadowhunters’ Thrived?
The difference in their success, despite being adapted from the same material, comes down to the medium. City of Bones did not have the same runway to develop side characters like Simon or Magnus, who ended up becoming hits in the television adaptation. Instead, it focused on the less interesting relationship between Clary and Jace while rushing through other aspects of the story. Back in 2013, Collider’s Matt Goldberg called the film “an interminable slog filled with thinly drawn characters, a ramshackle plot, a laughable love story, and perfunctory mythology that never feels magical.” All seasons of Shadowhunters are available to watch on Hulu in the U.S.
The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones is now streaming on Netflix. Stay tuned to Collider for more updates.

10 Genuinely Perfect Fantasy Movies
Okay, so “perfect” is a big word to throw around for a whole list, and it does not mean that these movies have zero flaws if you go looking for them. They are here because, let’s be honest, watch any one of these and try to think of a single change that would actually make it better. You can’t, not really. Every choice, every weird creature design, every slow scene, is doing exactly what it’s supposed to be doing.
A few of these can easily show up on other lists and rightfully so they’re talked about a lot more. Some movies are genuinely great enough to earn a spot no matter what angle you’re ranking them from. So here they are, worst to best, ten fantasy movies that don’t really have a weak spot to poke at.
10
‘The Princess Bride’ (1987)
This movie is just endlessly quotable, and I think that’s actually the best sign a script is doing its job right. Westley (Cary Elwes) and Buttercup (Robin Wright) are the actual love story, but everyone remembers Inigo Montoya (Mandy Patinkin) and his whole “you killed my father, prepare to die” thing way more, because Rob Reiner and William Goldman clearly cared just as much about the side characters as the leads.
It flopped in theaters when it came out, which is wild to think about now, and only became the beloved thing it is once people started renting it on VHS and passing it around. It’s a swordfight movie, a comedy, and a genuine romance all at once, and none of those parts ever get in each other’s way.
9
‘Pan’s Labyrinth’ (2006)
Guillermo del Toro built the Pale Man, one of the creepiest creatures in movie history, entirely as a practical suit worn by Doug Jones, no CGI doing its magic. That’s kind of the whole deal with this movie where every fantasy creature looks like it’s actually standing in the room with Ofelia, because it usually was.
It won three Oscars, for cinematography, makeup, and art direction, and all of those awards were well-deserved. The fantasy stuff and the real-world horror of fascist Spain sit right next to each other the entire runtime, and del Toro never once lets one half feel like it’s just decorating the other.
8
‘The Green Knight’ (2021)
David Lowery made a movie where almost nothing gets explained outright, and it works precisely because he never flinches from that choice. Dev Patel is at his best here yet again as he plays Gawain with real nervous energy, like a guy who knows he’s not ready for what he agreed to, and the whole thing is shot so beautifully you’d watch it with the sound off and still feel something.
Most movies this ambiguous end up frustrating people. This one earns the ambiguity, because every unanswered question feels intentional instead of lazy. That’s a hard needle to thread, and it’s a big part of why this belongs on a perfect list instead of just a good one.
7
‘The Wizard of Oz’ (1939)
The Wizard of Oz is literally everyone’s childhood at this point. The moment Dorothy opens that door and the movie switches from black-and-white Kansas into full color Oz still gets me, and that was an insanely bold technical choice for 1939. Judy Garland carries the whole thing on “Over the Rainbow” alone, honestly.
They actually changed the slippers from silver, like in the book, to ruby red just because red popped better on the new Technicolor film. That’s such a small, practical decision, and it ended up becoming one of the most iconic images in movie history. Almost ninety years later, the effects still hold up in a way a lot of far more expensive fantasy movies don’t.
6
‘Princess Mononoke’ (1997)
Hayao Miyazaki’s team hand-drew something like 144,000 individual frames for this movie, without any shortcuts, and you can feel that effort in every single shot of the forest. San and Ashitaka don’t get a clean, easy love story either, which some people complain about, but that’s exactly why the movie earns its ending instead of just handing you one.
Nobody in this movie is fully good or fully evil, not even the woman literally destroying the forest, and Miyazaki trusts the audience enough to sit with that discomfort; he beautifully painted characters in the grey areas for them to be more realistic.
5
‘Spirited Away’ (2001)
This was the first anime to ever win the Oscar for Best Animated Feature, and it also broke Japan’s all-time box office record for years afterward, which tells you it wasn’t just critics who loved it. Chihiro’s world is packed with stuff like No-Face and the bathhouse spirits, and none of it feels like filler, every creature actually means something by the end.
Miyazaki apparently came up with the idea partly to make something for his friends’ daughters. There were kids who were bored of typical princess stories, and you can feel that specific care in how seriously the movie takes a ten-year-old’s fear and boredom and courage. It is one of the best children movies to exist.
4
‘The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring’ (2001)
Peter Jackson shot this whole trilogy back to back in New Zealand with actual mountains and actual forests standing in for Middle-earth, and that groundedness is honestly why the fantasy stuff lands as hard as it does. The locations were real and that made it 100x better. The crew arranged a WETA Workshop built with real armor and real weapons the actors could actually move in, instead of a bunch of CGI.
This first one especially still gets me every time the Fellowship breaks apart at the end, Boromir’s death, Frodo and Sam heading off alone. It’s a long movie and it never once feels like it’s just killing time waiting to get somewhere. The trilogy is the best one to exist and every movie in its feather is just better than the other one.
3
‘The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers’ (2002)
Gollum is the reason this one belongs on a perfect list, honestly. Andy Serkis did full motion-capture performance work for a character that’s mostly just eyes and a voice, and he still made Gollum feel more human, more genuinely torn apart inside, than most fully CGI characters manage today.
Helm’s Deep took months to film and it shows, since it’s still one of the best battle sequences ever put on screen. There was no shaky-cam nonsense hiding bad choreography, and everything was just so beautifully flowing that it genuinely felt like a wholesome cinematic experience. This is the middle chapter of a trilogy, technically the hardest one to make work on its own, and it still holds together completely.
2
‘The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King’ (2003)
This movie won eleven Oscars, every single category it was nominated for, which basically never happens, and it earned every one of them. The Battle of Pelennor Fields alone probably took more actual planning than most entire movies get, which is why for most people this one is the best movie in the trilogy.
What really gets me about this one is how much time it spends on the ending after the ending, Frodo coming home and not being able to feel okay again, the Grey Haven, etc. Most trilogies would’ve just cut to credits after the ring gets destroyed. This one trusts you to sit with what the war actually cost everyone first and probably that’s why it still lingers on the minds of viewers.
1
‘The Dark Crystal’ (1982)
Every single character in this movie is a puppet, hand-built and operated by Jim Henson’s team, and there’s not a frame of CGI anywhere near it because it came out in 1982, before that was even an option. Brian Froud designed the Skeksis and the Mystics, and they’re still genuinely unsettling to look at, way darker than anything you’d expect from the Muppets guy.
It’s a kids’ movie that never once talks down to kids, dark tone and all. Jen and Kira’s whole quest has real stakes and danger, and the fact that it still is talked about as one of the most fully realized fantasy worlds ever built, entirely by hand, is why it takes the top spot here.

Toni Braxton Shares Pics For Second Anniversary With Birdman
Toni shared two new photos that appear to capture her wedding day, posing solo in a gorgeous embroidered white wedding gown with her veil pulled back. The singer kept the glam elegant with French-tip nails, sparkling stud earrings, a flawless face beat, and her hair styled in a sleek middle-part updo. And of course, that HUGE diamond ring was front and center, giving all the “I’m a wife” energy as she celebrated the milestone.
Toni Is Giving “Two Years Of Bliss”
Alongside the never-before-seen snaps, Toni captioned the post, “Celebrating two years of bliss. Happy Anniversary 🤍” as she reflected on the couple’s second year of marriage. The intimate photos offer fans another glimpse at the singer’s special day, with Toni keeping the focus on herself and her bridal moment as she commemorates the anniversary.
Toni & Birdman’s Romance Has Been A Whole Journey
Toni Braxton and Bryan “Birdman” Williams’ love story has had folks doing double takes for years. During an exclusive chat with the ‘Today Show,’ Toni opened up about their relationship, revealing that the two had been friends for more than 25 years before their friendship eventually turned into a “love connection.” The couple reportedly tied the knot in August 2024, and Toni recently reflected on their anniversary getaway, sharing that they slipped away to a private spot they use when they want to unplug from the world.
The pair’s relationship had been surrounded by marriage rumors before Toni eventually confirmed Birdman was her husband. Zendaya and Robert Pattinson Officially Reunite With New Prime Video Hit
It’s Zendaya‘s world, and we’re all just living in it. The hugely talented Hollywood star has already reprised the role of Rue in one of the biggest streaming hits of the year so far, Euphoria, before featuring in the two most high-profile films of this summer. Alongside Jon Bernthal and Tom Holland, Zendaya has starred in both Christopher Nolan‘s ambitious adaptation of Homer‘s historical epic The Odyssey and Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
The former broke several box office records, including earning Nolan’s biggest opening weekend, as it sailed towards the billion-dollar mark at the box office. The latter, however, blew The Odyssey out of the water by not only earning the biggest opening weekend in domestic box office history but also becoming the second-fastest film to $1 billion worldwide. It is frankly remarkable then that the best Zendaya performance of 2026 so far doesn’t come in any of these projects.
Zendaya’s best performance so far came opposite her The Odyssey castmate Robert Pattinson in The Drama, the clever, twisting tale of a couple on the verge of getting married whose relationship is turned upside down when one reveals a dark secret. Excruciatingly brilliant from start to finish, The Drama is one of the true gems of 2026, and matched its critical success with over $100 million at the global box office. Four months after it debuted in theaters, The Drama is a streaming hit again, officially ranking as one of the ten most-streamed movies on Prime Video in the world.
Zendaya Still Has Another Major Movie to Come This Year
Just when 2026 couldn’t get any better for Zendaya, she is set to feature as part of the year’s biggest sci-fi movie. Released on the same day as Avengers: Doomsday, Zendaya will reprise her role as Chani in Dune: Part Three, the final installment in Denis Villeneuve‘s acclaimed adaptation of Frank Herbert‘s Dune novels. Zendaya is one of many fan-favorite faces in this epic third chapter, including Timothée Chalamet as Paul Atreides, Javier Bardem as Stilgar, Rebecca Ferguson as Lady Jessica, Anya Taylor-Joy as Alia Atreides, Florence Pugh as Princess Irulan, and Jason Momoa as Hayt.
The Drama is one of the most-watched movies on Prime Video in the world. Make sure to stay tuned to Collider for all the latest streaming stories.

Charleston also doubled down on his colorism argument, saying he believes the reaction would look completely different if Claressa were a light-skinned woman. He said folks would be real quiet on the creek and Claressa wouldn’t catch nearly as much shade.
In a new video, Charleston doubled down on his previous statements and claimed he controls the algorithm because he got Latto to respond after he accused her of playing house with a married man. He said he hit “checkmate” because his ultimate goal involved getting Claressa into the algorithm and getting people to talk about colorism. Charleston called his approach “provoking thought and evoking emotions” before continuing to cut UP. he added that when it comes to doing exactly that “nobody could ever beat him” because he considers himself the master of it.”

Joe Amabile Discharged From Hospital After Brain Surgery
Bachelor in Paradise Joe Amabile is on the mend after undergoing brain surgery.
“So happy to be back home with Joe,” Amabile’s wife, Serena Pitt, wrote via her Instagram Stories on Saturday, August 8, sharing a pic of her husband lounging on a couch in their New York City apartment watching golf.
She continued, “Lots of rest and recovery ahead of us.”
In a follow-up post shared to her feed, Serena wrote, “Incredibly grateful to the team at NYU Langone Health for their endless patience, care, compassion and kindness these past few days. Joe is home recovering, and we’re so grateful to have been in such good hands.”
Joe, 40, underwent surgery last week after doctors found a tumor in his brain.
“They got it all!” Joe wrote via Instagram on Thursday, August 6, alongside a slew of post-op selfies from the hospital.
Serena, 28, had stayed by her husband’s side throughout his hospitalization.
“The best update: they were able to remove the entire tumor,” she gushed via her Instagram Stories later on Thursday. “Joe is recovering really well. We’re feeling so grateful.”
Joe, who met Serena on season 7 of Bachelor in Paradise, revealed his diagnosis last month.

“So a little medical update. I didn’t share my Prenuvo [full body scan] results because they ended up finding a lesion in my brain,” Joe said in a July video shared via Instagram. “Then, I had to go get a brain MRI and there was a blueberry size lesion in my brain that looks to be a glioma, which is a tumor. I now need to get brain surgery next week to get it removed and get it tested.”
The former grocery store owner continued, “And then we’re going to go from there. So it’s been a wild couple weeks. I definitely wasn’t expecting this. I think it’s one of those things where you’re like, ‘Oh, something like this will never happen to me.’ And here I am.”
Joe further noted that the tumor was in the “really early stages” and physicians were hopeful about removing the entirety of it.
“This past month has been a lot of ups and downs to say the least. After multiple scans and MRIs I have what looks to be an early stage brain tumor,” Joe captioned his upload at the time. “In two weeks I’ll be undergoing a craniotomy to have it removed — yeah brain surgery — @memorialsloankettering. I’m doing my best to stay positive during this time and am lucky to have a lot of support from family and friends.”
Days later, Joe addressed his decision to have brain surgery on an episode of the couple’s “Not Married to This” podcast.
“It was, we’ll never know what this is by just monitoring it. We will only know by taking it out or or biopsying it,” Joe acknowledged. “And from my understanding, they only do biopsies in the brain if removing it is very dangerous. But where mine is located, it seems like it’s a less dangerous scale to remove it. I mean, the surgery is very dangerous. [A] craniotomy … is scary. It’s a serious surgery.”

Kelly Clarkson Reacts After Nearly Flashing Fans During Show
Kelly Clarkson transformed a potential wardrobe malfunction into an unexpectedly candid celebration of her body during her latest Las Vegas performance. While speaking to the audience at Caesars Palace on Saturday, August 8, Clarkson noticed that her sheer crop top had started riding up. Rather than allowing the moment to interrupt the show, the singer quickly adjusted her outfit and turned the mishap into a comedy routine about her breasts, manifestation, and the dangers of speaking negatively about herself.

Clarkson was addressing the crowd when she suddenly realized that her top had shifted. “There’s a lot of amazing things happening, uh oh, there’s my b-obs,” the 44-year-old said as she pulled the garment back down over her midsection.
After noticing the audience’s reaction, Clarkson immediately assured fans that an accidental exposure was unlikely. “They’re too small, they won’t come out. You’re fine,” she joked.
The “Stronger” singer then reconsidered the self-deprecating nature of her comment and declared that her breasts “were perfect.” “They’re not going anywhere,” she stated. “They’re perfect.”
Although the moment began with an outfit adjustment, Clarkson soon found herself explaining why she had become particularly aware of the way she spoke about herself that evening.
The Singer Takes Back Her Self-Deprecating Joke

Clarkson revealed that people had been reminding her about the Lion’s Gate Portal, an annual spiritual and astrological event associated with August 8. According to the belief, the alignment of the sun in Leo, Earth, and the star Sirius creates a powerful period for setting intentions and manifesting desired changes.
Clarkson joked that the celestial event made her nervous about allowing even a harmless comment about her body to reach the universe. “I started talking about my b-obs, [and] I got off track,” she admitted. “I’m gonna be honest with you, somebody was like, ‘It’s the Lion’s Gate Portal. It’s 8-8, there’s so much energy out, don’t speak negatively.’ Right when I made a self-deprecating joke, I’m like, ‘Just kidding, universe, my b-obs are awesome!’”
The singer said she had received several warnings the night before about remaining positive and avoiding gossip during the manifestation period. “I got texts all last night, like, ‘Don’t gossip, don’t speak ill of anyone or yourself [to manifest] things out there that you want,’” Clarkson told the audience.
However, she questioned whether that advice should be reserved for one astrological event. “I was like, ‘You’re sure we’re doing this sh-t every day? I don’t know if it should just be tomorrow … or this should be a life thing?’” she continued. “It’s in my head, so as soon as I [shared] self-deprecation, I was like, ‘Just kidding!’”
Kelly Clarkson Jokes About Her Backstage Policy

The singer’s attempt to avoid negativity continued as she praised the people working around her during the residency. “I’m just surrounded by so much talent and just cool-a-s people,” Clarkson gushed. “I’m getting too old, [so] I have a no a-sholes allowed policy.”
Realizing that the “universe” might interpret the policy as another negative statement, Clarkson quickly amended her language. She joked that the people excluded by that rule were simply “on a different path” from her.
The lighthearted correction eventually led to a more vulnerable discussion about unhealthy relationships, self-worth and the effects of growing up without positive examples. “It’s a reality for a lot of us,” Clarkson said. “We [weren’t] handed people that found worth in us, like, we deserved better, you know?”
The singer acknowledged how early experiences can affect someone’s relationships later in life. “That’s a tough thing to grow up with, that’s a tough thing to overcome [and] that’s a tough thing to find healthy relationships when you’ve never been shown one,” she continued. “Those are all excuses; I learned that in therapy.”
The Vegas Residency Has Produced Several Unfiltered Moments

Saturday’s concert was part of Clarkson’s limited “Studio Sessions” residency at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace.
The run has given Clarkson space to do more than perform her catalog. Between songs, she has regularly shared personal stories and spontaneous observations with the audience.
Kelly Clarkson Recently Shared A ‘TMI’ Hotel Story

The breast jokes arrived only weeks after Clarkson left her Las Vegas audience stunned with an exceptionally graphic hotel bathroom confession. “This is TMI, but I’m gonna go ahead and say it,” she warned before recounting the unpleasant experience.
Clarkson wondered aloud whether she might have contracted cyclosporiasis, a foodborne parasitic illness that had reportedly affected thousands of people. However, she did not say she had received a test or diagnosis, and her speculation should not be interpreted as confirmation that the illness caused her symptoms.
“I don’t know if I got that thing, that, you know, like, people eat lettuce. Sh-t, I don’t know what. I don’t know what the f-ck… But last night during the show, I was like, ‘Oh my God. Jesus,’” she recalled.
Clarkson compared the ordeal to the infamous food-poisoning sequence in “Bridesmaids.” “Bridesmaids ain’t got sh-t on what happened in my room,” she declared. “I was like, ‘Oh, Lord.’ And you know the part where you think it’s over. You’re like, ‘It has to be over.’ No, girl!”

In the footage, cops approach the vehicle and ask Blueface and members of his camera crew to step out. At this time, it’s unclear why police stopped the group, and authorities have not indicated whether anyone received a citation. Blueface and Chrisean’s run-in with the law comes shortly after clips showed them spending time with Rock’s son, Chrisean Jesus. Although Blue has repeatedly denied being the three-year-old’s father, he recently appeared to get into daddy mode with him during a livestream while Rock slept. Several viewers tuned in as Blue spoon-fed the toddler in bed. Others clips also showed Chrisean Jr. seemingly laughing at cartoons that were playing on the TV while Blue cuddled up next to him.
Nevaeh Akira Found Out About Blue’s Family Festivities & Her Reaction Had Folks Watching
Blueface’s quality time with Chrisean Rock and her son definitely didn’t go unnoticed. Nevaeh Akira quickly reacted after someone put her on game about their family festivities. During a livestream, Nevaeh appeared to react from inside Blue’s home. A friend seemingly filled her in on his recent moves during a phone call, and chile, that conversation appeared to set her OFF. Neveah went on to seemingly drag Rock and Blue’s cozy moments together without mentioning her by name.
“I’m with mines 24/7, ain’t never put mines to the side. And if a n***a ain’t claiming mine, I ain’t gliding with him, sliding with him, kissing him, touching him, f*****g him none of that. You heard me? None of that,” Neveah said.
From there, Nevaeh called out Blue for leaving her at home while she’s pregnant. She said she’s sitting down for now, but once she gives birth to their son Solar Porter, she’s getting right back to making moves. Another video appeared to show her pushing a box out of Blue’s home, but it’s unclear whether she actually moved out. “He just getting his rocks off while I’m pregnant. Cause b***h imma be back, 2.0 bad b***h. Hello, and a b***h got potential, a b***h just sitting down. Real quiet on the creek h*e. F**k y’all.”

Mormon Wives’ Dakota Kisses Shinia Powell After Drama
The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star Dakota Mortensen has gone public with Shania Powell, closing out the summer season with plenty of PDA.
“Soaking up our last bit of summer 🙈🤍,” Shinia wrote via Instagram on Saturday, August 8, sharing a handful of photos from a recent getaway to Island Park, Idaho.
In one snap, Dakota, 33, leaned over to kiss Shinia on a mountaintop overlook. The twosome also cuddled up in other outdoorsy images, sharing big grins as they embraced.
Dakota and Shinia were first romantically linked in July after being spotted together at a baseball game in Utah. The duo previously hooked up during Mormon Wives season 4 — amid Dakota’s tumultuous on-and-off romance with Taylor Frankie Paul. (Shinia was introduced as a friend of Taylor’s pal Miranda McWhorter.)
“I do just want to say sorry for everything that I did. I know that caused a lot of problems,” Dakota told Taylor, 32, during a FaceTime call on the Hulu show, addressing his history with Shinia. “I’m sorry for hooking up with Shinia. Was it dumb of me? Yes. Could I have picked someone else? Yes. I picked somebody that was obviously going to come with problems, and that was very s***y of me to do.”
Dakota’s fling with Shinia also sparked drama for Taylor and Miranda, 28, whose friendship had only started to get back on track after their now-viral 2021 soft-swinging scandal.

“I think the Taylor and Dakota of it all was definitely a contributing factor, especially since I was very vocal about how her pursuing that relationship would affect her and would affect me,” Miranda exclusively told Us in March. “It felt like it was just blatantly disregarded on multiple occasions. “Also, I understood where Taylor was coming from with her frustration as well. As things continue to play out, I think other things unfolded, and it just made that decision easier.”
In the end, Miranda overwhelmingly stuck by Taylor’s side.
“Taylor giving me an ultimatum on choosing her or Shinia is frustrating because I’m not your partner and I’m not your child. I’m your friend,” Miranda previously said in a season 4 confessional. “And I’m pretty sure that Taylor is not going to like my decision from where I’m standing right now.”
Taylor and Dakota, who welcomed son Ever in 2024, broke up for good earlier this year amid multiple domestic violence accusations. They each denied the accusations and Utah police declined to press charges. Amid the drama, Taylor temporarily lost custody of Ever, 2, but has since been awarded visitation rights by a judge. She also shares Indy, 8, and Ocean, 6, with ex-husband Tate Paul.

The speculation started after Usher performed ‘Caught Up’ and ‘Bad Girl’ in an all-white look, complete with a matching baseball hat and sunglasses. Some concertgoers said the man onstage looked different from the Usher they were used to, pointing to his facial features, movements, and even the apparent lack of tattoos on his hands. One fan claimed the real Usher has star tattoos between his thumbs and index fingers, while another joked that the performer was “gusher.” Others admitted they could see Usher but still felt something looked off, sending the viral clip into a full-blown clone debate.
NYC fans were stunned at a recent Usher concert. They claim Usher didn’t look like himself. 👀

3 Great Cozy Murder Mysteries to Watch in August 2026
It’s still summer, so it’s not quite sweater weather — or the season to stay in from the cold and binge-watch crime shows.
But Watch With Us has never been patient, which is why we’ve gone ahead and curated a list of some of the best cozy murder mysteries to stream in August.
At the top of our list is Grantchester, which Netflix is streaming its first four and best seasons right now. James Norton might be killing it (literally!) in House of the Dragon right now, but he’ll always be famous for his role as a crime-solving priest.
We also recommend checking out the chic Agatha Christie adaptation, Why Didn’t They Ask Evans?, on BritBox and the charming The Marlow Mystery Club on Prime Video.

After 11 seasons, the long-running PBS Masterpiece series Grantchester recently wrapped up its impressive run. To give some context, most English mystery shows don’t last more than a few seasons, so for Grantchester to have thrived over a decade and withstood not one but two stars leaving the series to pursue other opportunities is impressive. Now that it’s over, it’s a good time to go back to the beginning and watch the first four seasons on Netflix.
Why those four seasons? That’s when James Norton’s hunky priest, Sidney Chambers, solved all sorts of mysteries alongside gruff Detective Inspector Geordie Keating (Robson Green). When they’re not apprehending the guilty, they’re tending to their complicated personal life. Even though he’s a man of the cloth, Sidney is very much romantically active and secretly pines for married heiress Amanda Hopkins (Morven Christie), while Geordie has a loving if combative relationship with his opinionated wife, Cathy (Kacey Ainsworth). Setting them straight and keeping them honest is no-nonsense housekeeper Sylvia “Mrs. C’ Chapman (Tessa Peake-Jones), who is more law-abiding and devout than both men.
Grantchester’s mysteries-of-the-week aren’t all that complicated; a crime is committed, Sidney and Geordie investigate, a couple of red herrings lead them down the wrong path and the real killer is revealed. But the key to the show’s charm — and why it lasted as long as it did — is that its characters are so damn charming. Sidney and Geordie have a classic good cop/bad cop relationship, while supporting characters like Mrs. C and fellow priest Leonard (Al Weaver) give Grantchester the found-family dynamic that sets it apart from other crime shows. Netflix is only airing Grantchester’s first four seasons, but you can watch the entire series on PBS Masterpiece on Amazon Prime Video.
‘Why Didn’t They Ask Evans?’ (2022) – BritBox

‘Why didn’t they ask Evans?” Those are the last words said by Alex Pritchard (Leon Ockenden), who is found dying at a rocky beach by a shocked Bobby Jones (Will Poulter). Bobby doesn’t know the man, but he’s disturbed enough by his death to find out why someone pushed him off a cliff – and what his dying message meant. With the help of his friend and potential lover, sophisticated socialite Frankie Derwent (Lucy Boynton), Bobby interrogates Britain’s wealthy class to solve a mystery that someone is willing to kill to keep unsolved.
You can’t have a cozy murder mystery list without an Agatha Christie adaptation, and Why Didn’t They Ask Evans? checks all the genre’s essential boxes. The three-part miniseries is set when the novel was first released in 1934, so you’ll get to see some pretty snazzy Depression-era fashions. More importantly, you’ll be drawn into the limited series’ central mystery of why Alex was murdered and who — or what — Evans is. The British cast is superb, with Poulter and Boynton generating enough chemistry to ignite a thousand rom-coms. Oscar winners Emma Thompson and Jim Broadbent appear as Frankie’s rich and free-spirited parents, while House’s Hugh Laurie, who also directed the series, stars as a doctor who might be hiding a sinister secret.
‘The Marlow Murder Club’ (2024–Present) – PBS Masterpiece on Prime Video

Three women lean near a brick wall in The Marlow Murder Club. PBS
The small English village of Marlow is quiet, quaint and too good to be real. When not one but two murders rock the community, several of its citizens decide to investigate the murders and keep the town’s reputation from falling even further into the gutter. While Judith (Samantha Bond), Suzie (Jo Martin) and Rebecca (Cara Horgan) don’t have any experience solving crimes, they make up for it by sheer gumption — and a successful track record of catching bad guys.
Adapted from Robert Thorogood’s mystery novels set in Marlow, The Marlow Murder Club does what every cozy murder mystery is supposed to do — set its stories in an idyllic location you’d kill to live in. The show also tells some decent head-scratching mysteries, like the case of a man murdered by a falling cabinet in a locked room and the unusual connection between a 1,500-year-old skeleton and the recent killing of a Marlow sailing club member. The three middle-aged leads have an easy rapport with each other — it feels like they’ve been friends for years, and you want to hang out with them even when their lives are in danger. Season 3 of The Marlow Murder Club starts streaming on September 6.
