Ed Sheeran’s troubled Loop Tour has suffered another major setback, with both of his scheduled Gillette Stadium concerts canceled because of severe weather. The British singer was expected to perform at Robert Kraft’s Foxborough, Massachusetts, venue on Friday, September 25, and Saturday, September 26. However, stadium and tour officials pulled the plug as dangerous conditions threatened the area. The cancellations arrive during an already turbulent stretch for Sheeran, who has faced intense backlash since Macklemore was dropped from the tour following his pro-Palestine remarks.

Gillette Stadium confirmed that Sheeran’s two performances would not move forward after officials monitored the weekend forecast. “Stadium and tour management, along with public safety officials, have been closely monitoring the weather forecast over the past week. Due to the severe weather forecast throughout the weekend, the tour has made the difficult decision to cancel the Ed Sheeran concerts at Gillette Stadium,” Kraft told TMZ in a statement.

“The decision was made with the safety of fans, staff, and everyone involved in the shows as the top priority. Refunds are available now at the point of purchase,” Kraft added. “Ticket holders who purchased through Ticketmaster will be automatically refunded.”

The concerts were part of the North American leg of Sheeran’s Loop Tour. Although the cancellations come in the middle of the controversy surrounding the lineup, officials specifically attributed the decision to the severe weather forecast.

The Foxborough dates were set to bring Sheeran back to the first NFL stadium he ever headlined. He previously performed seven shows at Gillette Stadium between 2013 and 2023.

Ticketmaster Had Already Faced Pressure To Issue Refunds

Some fans were attempting to obtain refunds before the weather cancellation was announced because Macklemore and the tour’s remaining opening acts were no longer scheduled to perform. Massachusetts Attorney General Andrea Campbell announced Thursday that Ticketmaster had agreed to provide refunds after her office received nearly 200 complaints from consumers.

“After hearing from nearly 200 consumers who were struggling to obtain refunds from Ticketmaster for Ed Sheeran’s shows at Gillette Stadium this weekend,” Campbell said, “my office jumped into action to demand that consumers be provided a clear path to get their money back if they no longer want to attend due to significant changes to the lineup. I encourage anyone who wants a refund to act quickly and submit their request at least 24 hours before showtime.”

The attorney general’s involvement initially addressed the substantial lineup changes rather than the later weather cancellation. Ticketmaster subsequently committed to honoring qualifying requests submitted before the deadline, according to the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office.

With both performances now canceled, ticket holders who purchased through Ticketmaster are expected to receive automatic refunds.

Macklemore Blamed Pressure From Robert Kraft

The tour controversy began after Macklemore delivered pro-Palestine messaging while opening for Sheeran at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. Macklemore subsequently claimed that he was removed from the tour after Kraft refused to allow him to perform at Gillette Stadium and encouraged other venue owners to take a similar position. Sheeran, however, maintained that the decision to remove Macklemore was made by tour promoter Messina Touring Group rather than by the singer himself.

The lineup unraveled quickly after Macklemore’s departure. Finneas, Lukas Graham and Aaron Rowe withdrew from their scheduled appearances, while Sheeran’s longtime backing band Beoga also stepped away in solidarity.

Macklemore later announced that he would donate the entire $1 million in net earnings he received from the Loop Tour to six organizations assisting Palestinians. He also publicly challenged Kraft to match the donation.

Kraft responded by claiming that Sheeran had already asked him to match a separate $2 million humanitarian donation. Both men reportedly committed $2 million to regional aid, although specific recipient organizations were not initially identified.

Sheeran initially explained that he deliberately avoided turning his professional platform into a political forum. “Just because I choose not to speak publicly, it doesn’t mean I don’t have them, and it doesn’t mean I don’t care. Nor does it mean I don’t support causes in my own, personal way,” the singer wrote.

“There is a reason I do not use my professional platform for politics, my audience includes young people, often children, of all backgrounds. Those who come to my shows do not expect a political forum. I respect Macklemore’s strength of purpose to stand up and shout for what he believes,” he continued.

“However, there is room for multiple approaches to the same end: peace. I choose to use my fame and platform to be a place of safety and sanctuary, to maintain diplomacy and keep conversations open, not closed. If we only focus on shouting the loudest, nothing will ever change,” the singer added. “There are different approaches to being an advocate for change.”

The explanation did little to quiet the criticism, and Sheeran revisited the controversy during his September 19 performance at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia. “I don’t want to disappoint fans, and I’ve never wanted to be an activist musician, but this has put me in the middle of an important and passionate argument about freedom of speech and the most complex political issue on the planet,” Sheeran said.

He later told the crowd that “this is a humanitarian issue, and I cannot hide how I feel about it anymore. What happened in Israel and at the Nova Music Festival on Oct. 7 was horrific and compounded centuries of Jewish pain. What is happening in Gaza is catastrophic and unjustifiable, and disproportionate. Our hearts can be broken by the scale of devastation and loss of civilians’ lives, children’s lives, and the systemic injustice we’re seeing unfold in the West Bank cannot be overlooked.”

Sheeran also reiterated that Macklemore’s removal was a promoter-led decision and said he had attempted to mediate with the venues.

Macklemore Announces His Own “Free Palestine” Shows

As Sheeran dealt with the fallout, Macklemore announced a series of “Free Palestine” concerts beginning in October. Proceeds from the newly announced performances will benefit organizations providing aid to Palestinians.

“If these last couple of weeks have shown us anything, it’s that something has shifted over the last three years,” Macklemore wrote on Instagram. “There has been a collective awakening around Palestinian liberation, the power of billionaires that try to censor that call, and what we expect from artists right now. When the billionaire class can decide which voices are allowed on stage and which ones are too dangerous to hear, everyone should be paying attention.”

Sonic Creative Officer Takashi Iizuka says Sega executives once wanted to cancel the entire franchise, and the success of 2020’s Sonic the Hedgehog movie changed its course. Speaking recently during an interview at Tokyo Game Show, Iizuka recalled being told by higher-ups during the series’ worst periods that it should end. He said he fought within Sega to keep Sonic going and called the first movie the biggest milestone in the franchise’s turnaround.

“There had been good times, and there had been bad times,” Iizuka said. “During the worst times, I was told by the higher-ups that we should cancel the entire franchise.” He described the movie as a major hit that “definitely changed the course of this franchise.” Iizuka did not identify when those conversations happened or suggest that cancellation was still imminent when the movie premiered.

The Sonic Movies Gave Sega a Very Different Problem

The first movie’s path to theaters was hardly reassuring at the start. Its initial Sonic design drew such a strong backlash that the character was completely redesigned before release, making the movie look like another potential headache for the franchise. Instead, audiences embraced it, and the movies have since introduced Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Shadow to viewers who may never have picked up one of the games. Iizuka says those newer fans are also changing what people want from Sonic himself. In the same interview, Iizuka said some fans who found Sonic through movies and animation place greater emphasis on story. He wants future games to respond to that interest while keeping video games at the center of the franchise. That gives the movies a role beyond selling tickets: they have helped shape the audience Sonic Team now makes games for.

Sega’s plans today sound far removed from the conversations Iizuka remembers having with executives. He pointed to a new Netflix cartoon, Sonic the Hedgehog 4, and plans to release some form of Sonic media almost every year. The first movie did more than prove Sonic could work on the big screen. For Iizuka, it helped secure the future of a franchise he had already fought to keep alive.

Marvel’s Daredevil hasn’t had the smoothest television journey, having faced multiple setbacks and cancellations. The superhero’s first series premiered on Netflix in 2015 but was cancelled in 2018 after just three seasons. Four years later, Disney+ revived the series with Daredevil: Born Again, ordering an 18-episode season with Matt Corman and Chris Ord as head writers. Unfortunately, the revival will end next year, as it was announced three days ago that Season 3 would be its last.

As a reboot of Netflix’s Daredevil series, Daredevil: Born Again sees Charlie Cox reprising his role as blind attorney Matt Murdock, a.k.a. the titular superhero. In addition to Cox, returning cast members include Vincent D’Onofrio as the crime lord Wilson Fisk, otherwise known as Kingpin; Deborah Ann Woll as former reporter and Murdock’s friend Karen Page; and Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson, who was killed off in the series premiere. Meanwhile, Krysten Ritter joined the cast in Season 2, reprising her Marvel TV role of Jessica Jones.

Following the cancellation of Daredevil: Born Again, fans have been outspoken about how unfair it is. Still, some were unsurprised, given that Disney+ has scrapped several high-profile shows in recent weeks, most notably Wonder Man. Meanwhile, Born Again star D’Onofrio has responded to the cancellation by reassuring fans, whom he appreciates for supporting the show throughout its run. Taking to Twitter (formerly X), he wrote:

“We so enjoyed bringing @Daredevil Born Again to you all. You stuck with us and I like to think we stuck with you. ‘Daredevil’s Era Has Officially Come to an End

Besides its cancellation, Daredevil: Born Again has quietly parted ways with co-creator and showrunner Dario Scardapane, whose contract expired and was not renewed. The exit is unexpected, coming amid post-production, with no replacement announced as of this publication. The situation is one of several issues the acclaimed crime drama has faced since it was greenlit. Before its 2025 premiere, the 2023 strikes halted production, prompting Marvel to undertake a creative reset. Corman and Ord, who had pursued a more episodic structure and a less dark tone than the Netflix series, were let go. Scardapane, who was also a writer and executive producer on Marvel’s Punisher series at Netflix, then came aboard as showrunner. The initial 18-episode order was also split into two seasons, ultimately becoming 17 episodes: nine for Season 1 and eight for Season 2.

Daredevil coming to an end aligns with Collider’s recent report that Marvel may indeed be winding down its television division. Collider’s Adam Blevins reported, “Collider has learned that, after VisionQuest, Marvel Studios will be cutting back on live-action Disney+ shows. This excludes returning series like Daredevil: Born Again, an existing series with another season that has already wrapped filming, as well as potential miniseries that may be developed under the “Marvel Presents” and “Marvel Spotlight” banners.”

Before the Scrubs revival was announced by the trades in 2024, fans of the original series had already experienced their own kind of reunion. Zach Braff and Donald Faison had spent years revisiting the show together through their rewatch podcast, Fake Doctors, Real Friends, bringing J.D. and Turk’s friendship back to life in a very different format. Speaking to Collider ahead of the Scrubs Season 2 revival, Braff and Faison exclusively revealed that the podcast will be returning, with the pair currently in “final negotiations” to bring it into a studio setting.

The new era of Fake Doctors, Real Friends will focus on episodes from Season 1 and Season 2 of the revival, giving the podcast an opportunity to explore the show’s new generation alongside its returning stars. For a podcast that began with Faison recording largely from his closet during lockdown, Fake Doctors, Real Friends has come a remarkably long way. More importantly, it helped set in motion a chain of events that would ultimately bring the original cast back together for a brand-new series.

Why the ‘Scrubs’ Rewatch Podcast ‘Fake Doctors, Real Friends’ Was a Success

Fake Doctors, Real Friends offered fans more than a behind-the-scenes look at their favorite actors. It also revealed the genuine friendship between Braff and Faison, whose dynamic seemed remarkably similar to that of J.D. and Turk. Listeners soon discovered that the chemistry extended far beyond the pair themselves. As Braff and Faison dissected episodes week after week, they were joined by co-stars and crew members from the original series, including creator Bill Lawrence and director Michael Spiller, alongside Sarah Chalke (Elliot), Judy Reyes (Carla), and John C. McGinley (Doctor Cox). The conversations made it clear that much of the chemistry audiences had watched on screen in the early 2000s had existed behind the scenes too. When Collider asked whether fans could expect the same lockdown-era feel from the new episodes, Faison joked, “I’ve grown up since then, thank you very much!” before revealing that Fake Doctors, Real Friends will be moving into a studio. Braff then excitedly declared, “This is a Collider exclusive!” and revealed that the team is “in final negotiations to do it in a proper set, like Dax [Shepard’s] show. You know, in a cute little cozy room.” The move gives Fake Doctors, Real Friends a physical home that reflects just how far the podcast has come. It also opens the door to a new kind of discussion around the revival, with the pair able to break down episodes such as Season 1’s “My Return” alongside some of the people responsible for bringing the new Scrubs to life.

Season 2 also gives the podcast a new generation of characters to explore. Ava Bunn’s Doctor Sam Tosh is the only new cast member to be promoted to a series regular alongside the original trio, creating an opportunity to revisit the experience of joining Scrubs from a completely different perspective. During the pandemic-era podcast, the original cast frequently reflected on what it was like to join the show and suddenly find themselves part of a major television production. The revival could now explore those same questions with its newer cast members, offering an interesting comparison between two generations of Scrubs actors.

The studio format itself appears to be taking inspiration from Armchair Expert, the podcast hosted by actor and comedian Dax Shepard alongside Monica Padman. The series brings celebrities, journalists and academics into conversations about “the messiness of being human,” with guests ranging from Shepard’s wife Kristen Bell and Jimmy Kimmel to Seth Green, Mila Kunis, Molly Shannon, and Gwyneth Paltrow. That format has also become highly compatible with the current clip-driven social media landscape. Armchair Expert has built a substantial Instagram following through its use of short-form clips, giving individual conversations a life beyond the full-length podcast. Fake Doctors, Real Friends now has an opportunity to do the same with a professional studio setup and a revival that already has an established audience.

Anyone discovering a particularly funny or revealing conversation may be encouraged to seek out the episodes being discussed on Disney+, creating a natural connection between the podcast and the revival itself. The rewatch format depends on the show, after all, making Fake Doctors, Real Friends an unusually direct way to keep the revival in the conversation between episodes.

The content itself also appears set to evolve. Faison told Collider that the new podcast will explore the characters beyond their lives at Sacred Heart, asking questions like, “What does that mean for them at home? What does that mean for them when they’re not at work? What does that mean for them when they’re not in their comfortable place?” That focus could make Fake Doctors, Real Friends more than just a marketing exercise for the Scrubs revival. Alongside the duo’s signature anecdotes and behind-the-scenes stories, Fake Doctors, Real Friends’ own revival now has an opportunity to examine the emotional questions at the heart of the new series. Humor and a human connection were always Scrubs‘ greatest strengths, and it may be exactly what allows both the revival and its rewatch podcast to connect with audiences all over again in Season 2.

Milania Giudice is receiving professional support after a troubling video of a tense exchange with her mom, Teresa Giudice, emerged earlier this week.

“She is currently surrounded by people who love her and is under the care of professionals who are working with her and her family,” the Real Housewives of New Jersey star’s representative, Marina DeSantis, told TMZ in a statement on Thursday, September 24.

DeSantis continued, “Milania is deeply loved by her family and friends, and all of us are doing everything we can to support her as she navigates an incredibly difficult time in her life, particularly following the devastating loss of her best friend, Victoria [Zardoya].”

“Milania is a good-hearted and caring young woman who has been going through a very challenging period, and our focus right now is simply on her health, healing and well-being,” the statement went on. “In time, she hopes that being open about her experiences may help other young people facing their own struggles, but for now, we ask for compassion and privacy as she and her family continue to navigate this together.”

Milania, 20, was filmed in what appeared to be a tense exchange with her mom, Teresa, 54, and sister Gia, 25, at Tampa International Airport on Wednesday, September 23. According to TMZ, Milania posted the video to her Instagram account but quickly deleted it.

Earlier this year, the Milania mourned the death of her best friend, Victoria, who died at age 20 in July after suffering a fatal fall.

Milania grieved her friend’s death in an emotional Instagram post in August, writing, ““Every Chapter Has Your Name In It 🤍🕊️. My Victoria. My best friend. My sister. My soulmate. My partner in crime. There are no words in any language that could ever describe losing you.”

“I still wait for your name to pop up on my phone, I still expect to hear your laugh, and I still catch myself wanting to tell you something,” she added. “My heart keeps forgetting what my mind already knows, but one thing I know for sure is that every chapter of my life has your name in it.”

As well as Milania and Gia, Real Housewives of New Jersey star Teresa shares daughters Gabriella, 21, and Audriana, 17, with ex-husband Joe Giudice.

In May, Milania was arrested over an alleged domestic violence incident at her mother’s home in Montville Township, New Jersey. She pleaded not guilty to simple assault and purposely/knowingly causing bodily injury.

According to an arrest report obtained by Us, Milania’s sister Gabriella called police on May 14 to report that Milania was “acting erratically” and “throwing food [and] candles.”

Her next hearing in relation to the case is scheduled for Tuesday, September 29.
