Baby formula recalled after toxin found, FDA says

A baby formula brand has recalled three batches after a toxin was discovered, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

According to the FDA’s report on Saturday, The a2 Milk Company (a2MC) voluntarily recalled its imported a2 Platinum Premium USA label infant formula for children between 0 and 12 months after additional testing found cereulide.

The recall highlights potential safety risks tied to cereulide contamination, a toxin that can cause vomiting and is difficult to eliminate once present in food products, raising concerns for parents of infants who rely on formula.

Cereulide is a heat-stable toxin produced by the bacterium Bacillus cereus that is primarily responsible for the “emetic” or vomiting type of food poisoning. It is notoriously difficult to eliminate because it can withstand high cooking temperatures and the acidic environment of the human stomach.

A total of 63,078 units were affected, with an estimated 16,428 units sold to consumers.

The affected batches were only sold in the U.S. through the brand’s website, Amazon and Meijer stores.

“Importation rights expired on December 31st, 2025, and the Product has been discontinued and removed from sale prior to the initiation of the recall,” the FDA’s report read.

The recalled formula was sold in 31.7 oz tins with use-by dates of July 15, 2026, January 15, 2027, and January 21, 2027. Batch numbers include 2210269454, 2210324609 and 2210321712.

A representative for a2MC did not immediately respond to FOX Business’ request for comment.

No illnesses have been reported, but consumers are urged to throw out affected batches or return them to their place of purchase for a full refund.

Firms and organisations in Wales have been recognised for their vital contribution to economic growth and improving lives in the King’s Awards for Enterprise.

A total of 186 awards, to firms and organisations across the UK have been conferred, with 76 businesses recognised for international trade, 52 for innovation, 36 for sustainability and 22 for promoting opportunity through social mobility.

In Wales there are six recipients . Wrexham-based Air Covers, which specialises in designing and manufacturing protective covers for both civil and military aircraft, boats and vehicles, receives an award in recognition of its international trade. Pontypridd Laser Wire Solutions, a world leader in laser wire stripping, and Llanelli-based DIG International Group, an international civil engineering contractor focused on infrastructure and surface mining, are also recognised for international trade.

The Neath-based Safety Letterbox Company, which designs, manufactures and supplies mailboxes and parcel boxes, is recognised for innovation. King’s Awards for sustainability have been awarded to Swansea-based Bionema Group, an agritech venture that is pioneering the replacement of pesticides and fertilisers with biologicals that protect crops, soil and biodiversity, as well as artistic venue the Wales Millennium Centre for embedding sustainability across its operations.

Blair McDougall, UK Government Minister for Small Businesses and Economic Transformation, said: “A huge congratulations to every business receiving awards this year, who once again have illustrated the best of British innovation and talent.

“These awards show that right across the UK, there are small businesses that are thriving, growing and succeeding, and it’s only right that we champion these successes.”

Out of the 186 awards, 164 (89%) went to SMEs, and of those, 24 (13%) are micro-businesses with 10 employees or fewer.

AFP Warns Members of ISIS-Bride Cohort Returning to Australia Will Be Arrested

The Australian Federal Police (AFP) has confirmed that members of the cohort of ISIS-linked families will be arrested and charged upon returning to Australia.

The group, composed of four women and nine children and grandchildren, were able to book flights that will take them to Australia from Syria.

AFP Confirms Pending Arrest of ISIS-Bride Cohort Members

According to a report by ABC News, the four women are facing arrest upon their return to Australia, which will take place on Thursday. Their flights are scheduled to land in Sydney and Melbourne.

The report notes that the members of the cohort are all Australian citizens and hold Australian passports.

AFP Commissioner Krissy Barrett confirmed that the police are waiting for the arrival of the group.

“Some individuals will be arrested and charged,” Commissioner Barrett said. “Some will face continued investigations when they arrive in Australia.”

Commission Barrett added that the children who are part of the cohort “will be asked to undergo community integration programs, therapeutic support, and countering violent extremist programs.”

What We Know About the ISIS-Bride Cohort

According to a report by 9News, the cohort was previously blocked from returning to Australia due to their affiliation to ISIS members.

One person who is part of the group was not able to return to Australia to due to a temporary ban issued by Home Affairs Minister Tony Burke. Other members of the group were also asked to return to a detention camp in Syria

Burke has since said that the stance of the Australian government on ISIS brides and their children remain unchanged.

“The government has not and will not provide any assistance to this group, which consists of four women and nine children,” Burke said.

The Home Affairs Minister added, “These are people who have made the horrific choice to join a dangerous terrorist organisation and to place their children in an unspeakable situation.”
