8 Greatest Grimdark Fantasy Movies of All Time, Ranked

Published

on

The Head attacks in The Head Hunter

Fantasy is the gift that keeps on giving. As one of the most prolific and complex genres in any medium, fantasy has sprawled into several different categories or subgenres, all of which have found great success in movies, literature, theater, and even music. High and low fantasy are probably the best-known categories within this revered genre, but few are more fascinating or underrated than grimdark. A rather recent subsection of fantasy, grimdark eschews traditional notions of good and evil to instead focus on bleak and dangerous worlds populated by morally grey characters who use brutality and cynicism to survive. Conflict is usually prevalent in these stories, with intense politics, warfare, and bloodshed.

The term itself comes from the tagline for the British miniature game Warhammer 40,000, which famously states: “In the grim darkness of the far future, there is only war.” As a new-ish subgenre of fantasy, very few movies can absolutely be classified as grimdark, and they don’t always check every box as what’s usually considered the best example of the subgenre, A Song of Ice and Fire and its television adaptation, Game of Thrones. For example, some of these have morally grey heroes but lack the sweeping political angle. However, the movies on this list all have enough qualities to not only thrive within this blossoming subgenre but also represent it quite faithfully, bringing a more cynical and often harrowing perspective to the usually black-and-white realm of fantasy.

‘The Head Hunter’ (2018)

The Head attacks in The Head Hunter Image via Vertical Entertainment

Jordan Downey‘s The Head Hunter is among the most severely underappreciated fantasy movies of the new millennium. This remarkably dark gem stars Norwegian actor Christopher Rygh and is set in a fictionalized version of the Dark Ages populated by dangerous creatures that terrorize a kingdom. It centers on a knight known only as The Father (Rygh), who spends his days hunting these creatures while chasing the one that killed his daughter years ago.

Dark to a fault, The Head Hunter is probably the bleakest and most unforgiving fantasy experience we’ve seen in the last twenty-five years. It does a lot with its limited budget, even if its reach ultimately far exceeds its grasp. Yet, narratively, the film more than delivers, presenting a harrowing tale of revenge through a distinct and dangerous fantasy approach. The Father is a perfect antihero, relentlessly pursuing a monster that might just be the most sinister creation since Dragonslayer‘s Vermithrax Pejorative. Add to that one of the grimmest endings ever, and you get a fantasy movie that’s also a true punch to the gut.

‘Conan the Barbarian’ (1982)

Arnold Schwarzenegger wielding a sword in Conan-the-Barbarian Image via Universal Pictures

A building block of cinematic dark fantasy, Conan the Barbarian is a jewel of ’80s cheese and excess. In the role that made him a star, Arnold Schwarzenegger stars as the titular character, a barbarian on an unstoppable quest to avenge his parents’ deaths at the hands of Thulsa Doom (James Earl Jones), the cruel leader of a cult. The film is based on the characters created by iconic pulp fiction writer Robert E. Howard in the 1930s.

Arguably the best sword-and-sorcery movie ever made, Conan the Barbarian is still the movie against which all subsequent entries into the subgenre are measured. Conan himself is the poster boy for complex fantasy antiheroes, a highly individualistic warrior on a fearsome quest for revenge and mainly concerned with survival and personal glory. The film is also a love letter to ’80s machismo, complete with an oiled-up Arnie at the peak of his physical abilities, a not-so-subtle weaponry fetish, and a rather inspired view of death. Today, it remains a beacon of ’80s cinema and the ultimate depiction of its pulpy character.

Your Partner Has Been Assigned
Your Perfect Partner Is…

Your answers have pointed to one action hero above all others. This is the person built to have your back — for better or considerably, spectacularly worse.

Rambo

Your partner doesn’t talk much, doesn’t need to, and will have assessed every threat in your immediate environment before you’ve finished your first sentence. John Rambo is not a man of plans or politics — he is a force of nature shaped by survival, loyalty, and a capacity for endurance that goes beyond anything training can produce. He will not leave you behind. He has never left anyone behind who deserved to come home. What you get with Rambo is the most capable, most quietly ferocious partner imaginable — one who has been through things that would have broken anyone else, and who chose to keep going anyway. You’ll never need to ask if he has your back. You’ll just know.

James Bond

Your partner will arrive perfectly dressed, perfectly briefed, and with a cover story so convincing it’ll take you a moment to remember what’s actually true. James Bond is the most professionally dangerous person in any room he enters — and the most disarmingly charming, which is the point. He operates in a world of layers, where nothing is what it appears and every advantage is used without apology. You’ll never be bored. You’ll occasionally be furious. But when it matters — when the mission is genuinely on the line and the margin for error has collapsed to nothing — Bond is exactly the partner you want. He has survived things that have no business being survivable. He does it with style. That is not nothing.

Indiana Jones

Your partner will know the history, the language, the cultural context, and exactly why the thing everyone else is ignoring is actually the most important thing in the room. Indiana Jones is brilliant, reckless, and occasionally impossible — but he is also one of the most resourceful, most genuinely knowledgeable partners you could find yourself beside. He approaches every situation with a scholar’s eye and a brawler’s instinct, which is an unusual combination and a remarkably effective one. He hates snakes and gets personally attached to objects of historical significance, both of which will slow you down at least once. It doesn’t matter. What Indy brings is irreplaceable — and the adventures you’ll have together will be the kind people write books about. Assuming you survive them.

John McClane

Your partner was not supposed to be here. He does not have the right equipment, the right information, or anything approaching the right odds. He has a sarcastic remark and an absolute refusal to accept that the situation is as bad as it looks. John McClane is the greatest accidental hero in the history of action cinema — a man whose superpower is stubbornness, whose contingency plan is improvisation, and whose capacity to absorb punishment and keep moving would be alarming if it weren’t so useful. He will complain the entire time. He will make it significantly more chaotic than it needed to be. And he will absolutely, unconditionally, without question come through when it counts. Yippee-ki-yay.

Ethan Hunt

Your partner has already run seventeen scenarios by the time you’ve finished reading the briefing, and the plan he’s settled on involves at least two things that should be physically impossible. Ethan Hunt operates at the absolute edge of human capability — technically, physically, and intellectually — and he brings the same relentless precision to protecting his partners that he brings to dismantling organisations that shouldn’t exist. He is not easy to know and he will never fully tell you everything. But he will carry the weight of the mission so completely, so absolutely, that your job is simply to trust him — and the remarkable thing is that trusting him always turns out to be the right call. The mission will be impossible. He will complete it anyway.

‘Tale of Tales’ (2015)

Image via Archimede Film

Matteo Garrone‘s 2015 fantasy horror Tale of Tales is quite possibly the most under-the-radar movie on this list. Starring an ensemble including Oscar nominees Salma Hayek and John C. Reilly alongside French icon Vincent Cassel, the film presents three different stories based on the Italian fairy tales by poet Giambattista Basile. The tales are all set in fantasy realms and explore themes of ambition, desire, lust, and obsession.

Tale of Tales is a rather singular fantasy. As any good grimdark project, the three stories are suitably bleak and have a pervasive tone of inescapable dread. There are no real winners here, only those whose ambition doesn’t get the best of them and those who succumb entirely to it. The first tale, starring Salma Hayek as a queen who will do everything to conceive a child, is the strongest, but all three are visually impressive and narratively enchanting. Garrone casts a true spell through his lush visuals, and the stories’ dark outcomes only enhance the superficial beauty, contrasting with the darkness and misery at their core.

5

‘The Crow’ (1994)

Brandon Lee sitting on a chair and looking at the camera in The Crow (1994)

Alex Proyas‘ 1994 cult classic The Crow can be easily described as multiple genres: a revenge thriller, a supernatural mystery, a superhero movie, and an urban fantasy. However, the central gothic vibe and somber tone are its most distinct qualities. The late Brandon Lee stars as Eric Draven, a musician killed alongside his fiancée on Devil’s Night. A year later, he is resurrected by a crow and goes on a night-long quest to punish those who killed him and his love.

Nowadays, the film’s legacy can’t be discussed without mentioning the tragic death of Brandon Lee during filming. However, The Crow stands proudly as a quality gothic thriller and one of the most original urban fantasy movies ever made. The macabre tone perfectly complements Proyas’ approach to depicting a gloomy, morally bankrupt, crime-ridden Detroit, populated by gangs and murderers. As for Eric, he’s more of an avenging Angel of Death than a superhero looking for justice. Revenge is central to The Crow, and Proyas depicts it in the most stylish and striking way possible.

4

‘Mad God’ (2021)

A miner in the dark in Mad God

From the wildly creative mind of the iconic Phil Tippett comes Mad God, a 2021 stop-motion animated fantasy unlike anything you’ve ever seen. The plot centers on a figure known only as The Assassin, who descends from the heavens into a sinister underworld populated with monsters, dangers, and cruelty.

“Nightmarish” is the only word to describe Mad God, a work of pure lunacy and genius from one of the industry’s most singular talents. The film is populated with the most disturbing visuals, with Tippett depicting some truly messed-up monstrosities that might stay with you, haunting your nightmares for days to come. Central to its themes are the inevitability of civilization’s demise and the cycle of violence, as well as the nature of war and the inherent irony of innocence in a world that seemingly does nothing but destroy it. The stop-motion visuals greatly enhance these ideas, culminating in an incredibly terrifying movie that might as well border on traumatizing. In other words, a must-watch.

3

‘The Green Knight’ (2021)

Few movies of the 2020s have aged as well as David Lowery‘s The Green Knight. In one of his richest and most introspective performances, Oscar nominee Dev Patel stars as Sir Gawain, King Arthur’s nephew, who accepts a challenge from the mysterious Green Knight (Ralph Ineson), sending him on a quest to discover himself and reclaim his courage. The film is among the most inspired takes on the Arthurian legend, set in an amoral, gloomy version of Camelot.

Of all the characters on this list, Gawain might be the most complex. Patel delivers one of the finest performances of his career as the selfish, self-serving knight on a quest to discover the true meaning of honor and, in the process, determine the kind of man he is. In his journey, he confronts several figures who both challenge and aid him, leading him to the final, fateful confrontation with the Green Knight. Many take issue with its abrupt and unclear ending, but that’s part of the film’s message. In the world of The Green Knight, there are no real answers, only questions; it’s the desire to solve them that matters.

2

‘The Northman’ (2022)

Alexander Skarsgård as Amleth yelling in rage in The Northman Image via Universal Pictures.

And speaking of fantasy masterpieces of the 2020s, we have The Northman, Robert Eggers‘ take on Norse mythology. A berserk Alexander Skarsgård stars as Prince Amleth, an exiled prince who witnesses his father’s death at the hands of his uncle, Fjölnir (Claes Bang). Years later, Amleth returns to avenge his father’s death and rescue his mother, Gudrún (Nicole Kidman), from the hands of his murderous uncle.

Unlike other Eggers movies, there’s very little left for interpretation in The Northman. Here, the director opts for an in-your-face approach to violence, depicting the Viking Age in all its furious, savage, unforgiving glory. At the heart of it all is a frenzied Skarsgård in one of his most committed performances as the tragic prince on a ruthless one-man quest to avenge his father. As bloody as it’s visually jaw-dropping, The Northman is a stellar revenge epic that audiences at the time didn’t know how to appreciate. Luckily, time has been extremely kind to it, and it’s now widely recognized as one of the greatest dark fantasies ever made.

‘The Seventh Seal’ (1957)

Death and a Knight playing chess in The Seventh Seal Image via AB Svensk Filmindustri

An institution in the realm of fantasy and a foundational block in cinema’s understanding of the genre, The Seventh Seal is an enduring masterpiece that only keeps getting better with each passing year. Ingmar Bergman‘s 1957 movie follows Antonius Black (Max Von Sydow), a disillusioned Swedish knight returning from the Crusades to find his country devastated by the Black Death. Soon, he finds himself facing Death himself (Bengt Ekerot) in a game of chess for his life.

One of the best Scandinavian movies of all time, The Seventh Seal is a masterclass of allegorical storytelling. Although the war and political angles are more of a background element, they have a profound impact on Antonius’ lack of purpose and his overall disinchantment. The knight itself is a perfect amoral antihero, having lost the honor that should characterize him, replacing it with a cynical view of life and a final wish to achieve a truly meaningful deed before his eventual demise. Ultimately, the film presents a miserable and almost defeatist outlook in the service of an insightful examination of life and death.

Your Universe Has Been Chosen
You Belong In…

Your answers point to the iconic universe your values, your instincts, and your particular way of seeing the world were built for. This is where you would find your people — and your purpose.

A Galaxy Far, Far Away

Star Wars

You believe in the cause — in the idea that freedom is worth fighting for even when the odds are impossible and the empire is vast.

  • You are drawn to the moral clarity of a universe where hope itself is a form of resistance.
  • You’d find your people in the Rebellion — a ragtag coalition of true believers held together by conviction more than resources.
  • Star Wars is fundamentally a story about ordinary people choosing to matter in an extraordinary conflict — and that is exactly your kind of story.
  • The Force may or may not be with you. But the will to use it for something larger than yourself certainly is.

Middle-earth

Lord of the Rings

You understand, in the deepest part of yourself, that the journey matters as much as the destination — and that the world’s beauty is worth protecting even at great cost.

  • Middle-earth is a world of ancient wonder, deep friendship, and a darkness that only retreats when enough small acts of courage accumulate.
  • You would thrive here because you value the fellowship more than the glory — the road more than the arrival.
  • Tolkien’s universe rewards patience, loyalty, and the willingness to carry something heavy across a very long distance.
  • Those are not burdens to you. They are simply how you move through the world.

The Wizarding World

Harry Potter

You believe that love, loyalty, and doing what’s right are not naive sentiments — they are the most powerful forces in any world, magical or otherwise.

  • The Wizarding World is a place of wonder hidden in plain sight, where learning is transformative and the bonds you form at school follow you into every battle.
  • You would flourish here because you take both the magic and the friendships seriously — and you understand that one without the other is incomplete.
  • Harry Potter’s universe ultimately rewards those who choose to stand for something even when standing is terrifying.
  • That choice — made quietly, without guarantee — is something you understand completely.

Westeros · The Known World

Game of Thrones

You see the world clearly — its power structures, its hypocrisies, its brutal arithmetic — and you are not paralysed by that clarity. You use it.

  • Westeros is a world that rewards intelligence, adaptability, and the willingness to understand that every alliance is also a negotiation.
  • You would survive here — possibly thrive here — because you don’t confuse the world as it is with the world as you’d like it to be.
  • Game of Thrones is a story about what happens when the idealists and the realists collide. You are sharp enough to know which one lasts longer.
  • Winter always comes. You are already prepared.

The United Federation of Planets

Star Trek

You believe the future is worth building — that curiosity, cooperation, and the expansion of understanding are not just ideals but the most practical path forward for any civilisation.

  • Star Trek is a universe where the questions matter as much as the answers, and where encountering something utterly alien is cause for wonder rather than fear.
  • You would belong here because you are fundamentally optimistic about what intelligence and decency can achieve — while being honest about how hard that achievement is.
  • The Federation is the universe’s most ambitious thought experiment: what if we actually got better?
  • You don’t just hope that’s possible. You think it’s the only thing worth working toward.

What Is ‘The Legend of Vox Machina’ About?

Based on the first Dungeons & Dragons campaign of Critical Role, The Legend of Vox Machina is set in Mercer’s fictional world of Exandria. The series follows Vox Machina, a group of adventurers who undertake dangerous quests to protect the realm. Scanlan Shorthalt (Riegel) leaves to travel with his daughter, Kaylie, while Keyleth (Ray) continues her Aramenté, with Vax’ildan (O’Brien) accompanying her. Meanwhile, Vex’ahlia (Bailey) and Percy de Rolo (Jaffe) begin a new chapter together in Whitestone. Taylor Swift Fans Turn On WAG Over Travis Kelce Comment

Published

on

Taylor Swift at the 2019 Billboard Women In Music Presented By YouTube Music

Travis Kelce found himself at the center of unexpected controversy after a joking comment from model Jena Sims sparked backlash among Taylor Swift’s fans.

The wife of golfer Brooks Koepka recently referred to the Kansas City Chiefs star as her “hall pass” while recalling their meeting earlier this year, a remark that quickly ignited criticism online.

While Sims appeared to be joking, many Swift supporters were unimpressed, with some accusing her of crossing a line by publicly discussing the NFL star in that way.

The controversy stems from comments Sims recently made while reflecting on her interactions with Travis Kelce.

The model first met the NFL star at a pro-am golf event in Scottsdale, Arizona, earlier this year.

Kelce and Koepka were paired together for nine holes during the tournament, giving Sims an opportunity to meet someone she had apparently admired for years.

At the time, she openly shared her excitement on social media. “I’m obsessed with Taylor Swift’s fiance even before Taylor was in the picture,” Sims said in a TikTok post

She also uploaded a photo of herself standing alongside Koepka and Kelce at the event while supporting her husband on the course.

Months later, Sims revisited that encounter during an interview and made another comment that quickly grabbed attention online.

While speaking about meeting Kelce, Sims jokingly referred to him as her celebrity exception. “I was so excited to meet Travis Kelce, I mean, he’s my hall pass. Brooks knows that,” she said in an interview with PEOPLE.

The actress also admitted she specifically planned her outfit for the occasion because she knew the NFL star would be there. According to her, she decided to go for something a “little more sportier” than usual.

Sims revealed that her husband found the whole thing amusing. “Brooks was like, ‘You’re so ridiculous,’” she recalled.

Elsewhere in the interview, she also shared that Kelce recognized her when they crossed paths again several weeks later at the Masters. According to her, the interaction caught her completely off guard.

“He came straight up to me and was like, ‘Hey, it’s good to see you again,’” she said. The recognition surprised Sims because she never expected Kelce to remember her after their brief meeting in Arizona.

“I’m like, ‘Oh my God. You remember me?’” she recalled.

Although she clearly enjoyed the interaction, Sims joked that she will not be receiving an invitation to Kelce and Swift’s wedding.

Despite making the remarks as a joke, many Taylor Swift fans did not find the comments quite as funny. Several took to social media to criticize the interview, arguing that the remarks were inappropriate considering Travis Kelce’s relationship with the singer.

One user wrote per the Daily Mail, “This is the kinda sh-t you keep to yourself and don’t say in an interview…” Others were equally blunt in their reactions.

The backlash continued as Swift fans dissected various parts of Sims’ interview. Some were particularly surprised by her admission that she intentionally dressed differently because she expected to meet Kelce.

“To admit the outfit you’re wearing is because of Travis ….like wtf who says that in an interview,” one critic commented.

Another user questioned why the topic needed to be discussed publicly at all. “I’ve never heard of this woman but how disrespectful to all involved. Maybe she shouldn’t be publicly sharing her ‘hall pass’ as a joke,” they said.

Others summed up their reactions in simpler terms. “CRINGE,” one person posted.

Swift and Kelce’s Rumored Venue Linked To Attack That Left Five Injured

Amid the drama, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are getting ready to walk down the aisle this summer.

As the couple gear up for their big day, their wedding venue has been  connected to a disturbing crime story.

As The Blast reported, a violent stabbing rampage unfolded just steps away from Madison Square Garden, the New York arena reportedly being considered for their wedding.

According to reports, five people were slashed inside Penn Station on June 7 when an assailant allegedly attacked victims at random inside the busy transit hub located directly beneath Madison Square Garden.

The incident immediately drew attention because Swift and Kelce are rumored to be planning to host between 1,100 and 1,200 guests on July 3.

Now, security concerns have become an even bigger talking point. Reports indicate Madison Square Garden quickly has implemented enhanced security measures for major events in the area, including increased screening procedures, perimeter controls, and stricter entry requirements.

Taylor Swift Reportedly Left Feeling ‘Very Vulnerable’ After Wedding Leaks Force Major Changes

Last month, The Blast reported that Swift and Travis Kelce were forced to overhaul parts of their wedding plans after a series of leaks exposed details about the highly anticipated event.

According to sources, the leaks were “incredibly disheartening” for the couple, with one insider claiming they had already changed venues and dates in an effort to protect their privacy.

“They’ve had to change venues and dates. It’s been such a monstrous headache, but even worse, it has left Taylor feeling very vulnerable. There are a lot of questions about who to trust,” the source said.

The reported breaches allegedly prompted Swift to become even more protective of the guest list, with strict no-plus-one rules implemented for many attendees.

Insiders claimed the singer didn’t want “random faces in the crowd” and was determined to prevent anyone from “spying” on the ceremony.

One source described the planning process as being “orchestrated like a military operation,” adding that Swift was willing to make “hard choices” if it meant preserving the privacy of what is expected to be one of the most closely watched celebrity weddings in recent memory.

‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ Meets ‘The Lord of the Rings’ in This Fantasy Adventure Sleeper Hit

Published

on

01112635_poster_w780.jpg

While science fiction has been dominating entertainment in 2026, fantasy has been on the rise lately, with the release of Masters of the Universe, Season 4 of The Legend of Vox Machina, and, arguably, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, which has reached $1 billion at the global box office. With many fantasy-adventure projects coming out, it’s no surprise that fans of the genre are revisiting one of its most underrated films, which features a star-studded cast but was seen as a box-office disappointment despite high praise.

Recently, a handful of projects that were seen as disappointments at release have found new audiences on streaming. One current example is the Battleship movie — based on the board game of the same name and featuring a slew of A-list celebrities — which was one of the “biggest box-office bombs of all time,” but has made a streaming comeback. Now, another movie based on a popular board game has found a new audience on streaming.

Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves was a 2023 fantasy heist film based on the Dungeons & Dragons franchise. Recently, Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves dominated Pluto TV’s Top 10 Movie charts during the weekend, ranking #1 in the U.S., just above Top Gun: Maverick. Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves stars Chris Pine as Edgin the bard, as he embarks on a heist with his friend Holga the barbarian (Michelle Rodriguez), Simon the wizard (Justice Smith), and Doric the druid (Sophia Lillis) to take back a magic artifact from their former friend and con artist Forge (Hugh Grant), and regain the trust of Edgin’s daughter, Kira (Chloe Coleman). Alongside the main cast, the film also features Bradley Cooper as Holga’s ex-husband, Marlamin; the Australian comedy group Aunty Donna; and a live-action cameo from the main characters of the Dungeons & Dragons TV series.

Is ‘Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves’ Worth Watching?

Since its release, Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves has grossed over $208 million worldwide and was seen as a box-office disappointment. However, the movie was highly praised, earning a 91% Certified Fresh critics’ score and a 92% Verified Hot audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. According to critics, ScreenRant praised the movie’s action sequences and special effects, but there were moments where it may be hard to keep up with the Dungeons & Dragons references, especially for those who have not played the board game. Meanwhile, CBR also praised the movie, most notably the cast, who were able to bring their characters’ personalities and archetypes to life.

Collider’s Carly Lane gave Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves a “B+” rating. Taylor Swift Surprises At ‘Toy Story 5’ Premiere

Published

on

Taylor Swift at Billboard Women In Music 2019

Taylor Swift made a surprise appearance at the premiere of the highly anticipated fifth installment of “Toy Story,” more than a week after revealing that she had recorded a song for the film.

The pop superstar arrived at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, walking the red carpet in a patchwork dress. Later, Swift performed the song “I Knew It, I Knew You,” followed by a duet with legendary composer Randy Newman.

Swift has long been a fan of the “Toy Story” franchise, and her involvement was strictly kept under wraps, making the surprise reveal of her contribution to the film’s soundtrack even more exciting for fans.

On June 9, Taylor Swift was among the stars who attended the “Toy Story 5” premiere at the Dolby Theatre in L.A. The singer stunned in an adorable off-shoulder corset mini dress from Erdem’s 2026 fall/winter collection that she accessorized with a sparkling horseshoe pendant and gold heeled sandals.

Swift’s appearance was a welcome surprise. On June 1, the singer finally confirmed rumors that she was somewhat involved in the latest “Toy Story” movie. In an Instagram post, she shared with her millions of followers that she penned the original song “I Knew It, I Knew You,” for the film.

“I’ve always dreamed of getting to write for these characters who I’ve adored since I was a 5 year old kid watching the first Toy Story movie,” she wrote.

Tom Hanks Signed An Autograph For The Singer

According to USA Today, Swift had a fangirl moment with the film’s stars and asked Tom Hanks, who has voiced Sheriff Woody Pride for more than three decades, for an autograph.

The 36-year-old singer reportedly brought her VHS copy of the first “Toy Story” movie, which was released in 1995 when she was just 5 years old.

“I didn’t get a selfie, but I did sign her original VHS of the first ‘Toy Story.’ I told her she should have brought an original VHS machine, and we could have signed it. And that could go in the Smithsonian as well,” Hanks said of his interaction with Swift.

Taylor Swift Performed Her New Song Live For The First Time

Following the “Toy Story 5” screening, Swift took the stage for a surprise performance. Donning a flowing yellow dress, she sat behind the piano and did a stripped-down version of “I Knew It, I Knew You.”

The song, written specifically for Jessie’s character, is included in the “Toy Story 5” soundtrack. It marks Swift’s latest project with longtime collaborator Jack Antonoff, whom she worked with on several of her albums.

However, the surprise didn’t stop there. Next, composer Randy Newman took his place on the piano and performed a duet of “You’ve Got a Friend in Me,” the main theme song of the “Toy Story” franchise.

A Decoy Was Created To Keep The Secret

After Swift’s revelation on June 1, “Toy Story 5” VFX Supervisor Thomas Jordan revealed that only a handful of people knew that Swift had a song in the movie. Jordan said the singer saw an early version of the film in February, wrote a song, and asked them if they wanted it.

The team then created a decoy version of “Toy Story 5,” one where Swift’s song wasn’t included, so they could show Pixar/Disney employees and press the film without spoiling the surprise. Jordan said that even the majority of the crew who worked on the movie did not know about Swift’s involvement.

Rumors Of Taylor Swift’s Involvement Spread In April

Despite the secrecy, eagle-eyed Swifties were quick to figure out several clues.

On April 30, Swift’s official website displayed a countdown clock, but it quickly disappeared. Those who saw it, however, noted that the background showed a blue sky with a few puffy clouds, which was similar to the wallpaper from “Toy Story.”

Later, the singer was spotted wearing a sky-blue dress paired with a yellow purse and red shoes, the signature colors of the “Toy Story” franchise. Then, billboards that featured the “TS” initials with a sky and clouds background appeared at different locations, sparking further speculation. It wasn’t until Swift’s Instagram post, however, that the rumors were confirmed.

In a post on June 5, Swift wrote, “Being a Toy Story kid from the age of 5 til now… is an adventure I plan to be on, to infinity and beyond.”

Love Island Couples

Love Island USA‘s Sol Dean got brutally honest about how the “taste” of Gabriel Vasconcelos‘ kiss made her reconsider exploring a romance with him.

During the Tuesday, June 9, episode of the Peacock show, Sol and Gabriel bonded at Soul Ties before they gave into the chemistry with a kiss.

“Gabe, he’s obviously handsome. But I can taste people’s pheromones when I’m kissing them,” Sol explained in a confessional.

The bombshell blamed the kiss for shifting her interest, adding, “Sometimes it just turns me off. My body’s just like, ‘That was not it, girl.’”

Love Island USA is all about coupling up — so which Islanders are currently together and which have already called it quits in the villa? Peacock’s popular dating show returned in June 2026 with contestants Aniya Harvey, Beatriz Hatz, Bryce Alakai Dettloff, KC Chandler, Mackenzie “Kenzie” Annis, Melanie Moreno, Sincere Rhea, Sean Reifel, Trinity Tatum […]

Gabriel’s fizzled-out romance with Sol came amid him being coupled up with Beatriz Hatz. Their future remained unclear after he secretly made a move on Sol, who also formed a bond with Sincere Rhea.

The newcomer previously turned heads when the Islanders had to read out sex facts and figure out which of them it was about during a challenge. One of the revelations was that an Islander slept with someone in their 50s.

Love Island's Beatriz Was in an Age Gap Relationship With a 45-Year-Old Man
Ben Symons/Peacock

“I was out and I was having a good time with my friends. She started talking to me and she was hot as f*** for her age,” Gabriel, who is 26 years old, said about his encounter with the 52-year-old. “We had a good night together. She had a lot of experience.”

Gabriel’s sexual history was then joked about when narrator Iain Stirling compared him to a “reverse Leonardo DiCaprio” due to the actor’s dating history. In addition to Gabriel and Beatriz, season 8 of Love Island USA features Aniya Harvey, Bryce Alakai Dettloff, KC Chandler, Mackenzie “Kenzie” Annis, Melanie Moreno, Sincere Rhea, Sean Reifel, Trinity, Corbin Mims, Kayda Bosse and Zach Georgiou.

Sol, Jen Terry and Caleb McDaniel are the newest group of bombshells who entered the villa in hopes of breaking up some couples.

Love Island USA follows a group of singles who must pair off in order to stay in the show’s luxury villa. The contestants — referred to as Islanders — live in isolation in a villa under constant video surveillance. They must be coupled up to remain on the show and earn a shot at the $100,000 prize.

While the islanders are filming nonstop for weeks, viewers are watching daily episodes and casting votes that affect the couples and the fate of the contestants.

Before viewers tuned in, Peacock issued a message to remind the audience to be kind.

“The Villa runs on good vibes, and so does this community. We love seeing your reactions, opinions, and debates, but everyone deserves to feel safe and respected,” read their statement. “This is a space for fun, not negativity – so keep it kind, keep it positive, and remember: this is LOVE Island!”

New episodes of Love Island USA are released six days a week — except for Wednesdays — on Peacock.

Love Island USA’s Sincere Accuses Mel of Disrespecting Him

Published

on

Love Island USA

Love Island USA‘s Sincere Rhea claimed Mel Moreno‘s behavior in the villa was putting their future as a couple at risk.

The Tuesday, June 9, episode of the Peacock show picked up with Sincere questioning how Mel was behaving with other guys – while not allowing him to explore connections with other women despite them not being “closed off” as a couple.

“I feel very disrespected,” Sincere told Mel in a heated argument. “You’re sitting there kissing every single body.”

Sincere specifically called out how Mel went back and forth between kissing him and Corbin Mims over and over again in a challenge, adding, “You were literally going ping pong with me and Corbin. It’s embarrassing. I felt disrespected and embarrassed.”

Mel, for her part, tried to apologize.

“I’m sorry. But do you know that I didn’t know that that was Corbin, right? I couldn’t see,” she told Sincere, who fired back, “But you could feel … He’s clearly different than I am.”

He continued: “Have your fun and explore. You are here to play this game but don’t play the game with me. I’m here for a reason. Then the cherry on top was when all they did was say Caleb [McDaniel] and then you started jumping up and down. We literally saw his feet and you were tweaking.”

Mel defended her reaction by saying she was more excited for Kenzie Annis.

“I keep hurting his feelings and I’m not trying to hurt his feelings,” she explained in a confessional. “I’m not doing anything on purpose but I think sometimes I guess I just do too much. He genuinely believes I knew it was Corbin. I did not. Me having fun and challenges does not delete everything I feel about Sincere, and I hate that he thinks that way. I f**ked up. ”

While Mel tried to apologize, the damage was done. Sincere started to heavily pursue new bombshell Sol Dean, who was just as interested in him. They kissed twice in secret before Mel walked in on them — and Sincere came clean.

Sincere tried to argue that he was still committed to Mel but she was clearly worried about their future together not that he was exploring with other women. Tuesday’s episode was also brought for KC Chandler and Aniya Harvey as they tried to figure out who closed off they actually were.

Viewers will have the chance to choose who each bombshell should pair up with — and that will ultimately decide the next recoupling.

Forget Deadpool, Ryan Reynolds Has Another Cult Classic That Deserves a Comeback [Exclusive]

Published

on

just-friends-2005-poster-ryan-reynolds-amy-smart.jpg

Rumors continue to swirl around Welsh football club co-owner Ryan Reynolds, as the fingers of MCU fans are kept tightly crossed, wishing for Deadpool to join the Avengers for the upcoming Doomsday. Scheduled for release on December 18, the confirmed involvement of a jaw-dropping ensemble — including Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Florence Pugh, Pedro Pascal, and more — is impressive enough, but a cryptic post on Reynolds’ social media and his vague comments at the Toronto International Film Festival caught the attention of fans across the world.

It is now considered a realistic possibility that Reynolds will appear in Doomsday, although a cameo is most likely. Deadpool’s return is perhaps at the top of fans’ list of Reynolds character reprisals, but another that some will be hoping to see again comes from one of the actor’s early cult classics. The hugely underrated Just Friends, a comedy flick released in 2005 co-starring Reynolds and Amy Smart, was initially panned by critics upon release, with reviewers supposedly feeling “shortchanged” by a “lackluster” comedy.

However, time has been kind to Just Friends, with the film now considered a comedic gem from the mid-noughties, thanks to its subversion of comedy stereotypes and a frankly iconic performance from Scary Movie‘s Anna Faris. During a panel hosted by Collider’s Maggie Lovitt at the recent Indiana Comic Convention, Reynolds’ co-star Smart spoke of her love for the project, naming it as the one movie she’d love to return to. “I hope that we do a Just Friends 2. I just want that one,” Smart said. But where would Chris and Jamie be over two decades on? “There’s so many variations. I do think Chris and Jamie got married, I think they have kids, but I don’t know what kind of drama ensues,” Smart answered.

Queens, New York

🕷️ Spider-Man
Advertisement

You carry the weight of the world on shoulders that are younger than they should have to be — funny, loyal, and endlessly self-sacrificing.

  • You do the right thing not because it’s easy, but because no one else will.
  • You understand that responsibility isn’t a burden you choose — it’s one that finds you.
  • Whether it’s a neighbourhood mugging or a multiverse crisis, you show up.
  • Peter Parker’s lesson — that great power demands great responsibility — isn’t a slogan to you. It’s the code you live by, even when it costs you everything.

Hell’s Kitchen, New York

😈 Daredevil
Advertisement

You fight in the shadows between law and chaos, guided by a fierce moral compass that refuses to let the guilty walk free.

  • You use every tool available — your mind, your body, your faith — to protect those the system overlooks.
  • You’ve looked into the darkness and chosen not to become it, though the line has never been easy.
  • Matt Murdock’s duality — champion in the courtroom, devil in the alley — mirrors your own.
  • Relentless, conflicted, and unwilling to stop. That is exactly you.

Stark Industries, Malibu

🤖 Iron Man
Advertisement

Brilliant, driven, and occasionally insufferable — but always the person who solves the unsolvable problem.

  • You lead with your mind and back it up with resources, innovation, and a stubbornness that borders on heroic.
  • You started out looking out for yourself, but somewhere along the way the world became your responsibility.
  • Tony Stark’s arc — from ego to sacrifice — is your arc too.
  • You build, you plan, and when the moment comes, you’re willing to give everything. Because in the end, you’re Iron Man.

New York City

💀 The Punisher
Advertisement

You’ve been through fire that would break most people — and it did change you, completely. What’s left is unyielding, relentless, and operating by a code forged in grief.

  • You don’t ask for forgiveness, and you don’t expect gratitude.
  • You see a corrupt, broken world and you’ve decided to do something about it, consequences be damned.
  • Frank Castle’s war is born from love twisted by loss — and so is yours.
  • Uncompromising and unflinching — the world may not agree with your methods, but your conviction is absolute.

Asgard · Protector of the Nine Realms

⚡ Thor
Advertisement

Powerful, proud, and on a lifelong journey to become worthy of the legend you carry.

  • You lead with strength but have learned — sometimes painfully — that true greatness comes from humility and growth.
  • You’re larger than life, yet more vulnerable than you let on.
  • Thor’s story is one of transformation: from arrogant prince to worthy king, from isolated warrior to beloved protector.
  • You bring the storm when it’s needed — and the warmth when it matters just as much.

Brooklyn, New York · The Avengers

🛡️ Captain America
Advertisement

You believe in something bigger than yourself — and you fight for it even when the world has moved on and nobody else will.

  • You don’t bully the small guy, and you never stop when it gets hard.
  • Steve Rogers didn’t become a hero when he got the serum — he was always one. So were you.
  • Your strength isn’t in your fists; it’s in your refusal to compromise what’s right, no matter the cost.
  • In a world full of people taking the easy road, you’re the one who picks up the shield and stands up — every single time.

Was ‘Just Friends’ a Box Office Hit?

Sure, the movie proved unsuccessful with critics, but could Just Friends find enough of an audience for financial success? Against a reported production budget of $25 million, Just Friends just missed out on the all-important $50 million mark, with a total box office haul of $42 million. Split between $32 million in domestic revenue and a further $10 million from overseas markets, the film failed to even open inside the U.S. top five in its first weekend, although it faced the all-conquering Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.
