Florence Pugh’s Thriller That Officially Proved She’s the “Best of Her Generation” Is Back on Top

Don't Worry Darling Movie Poster

Lovingly dubbed ‘Dunesday’ by fans, in the spirit of 2023’s ‘Barbenheimer,’ both Avengers: Doomsday and Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part Three will debut on December 18 this year in a cinematic event sure to grip the world. To be part of either of these huge movies is impressive, but to feature in both is nothing short of remarkable. Well, that’s exactly what Florence Pugh is doing, as the MCU’s new Black Widow, Yelena Belova, in Doomsday and Princess Irulan in Dune: Part Three.

This follows her surprise appearance in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which has already broken numerous box office records and smashed the $2 billion mark worldwide. With this in mind, and with both Doomsday and Dune: Part Three expected to make a huge splash at the box office, it’s possible that 2026 ends with Pugh in all three of the highest-grossing films. One of the actress’ most high-profile roles of the decade, and perhaps her most controversial film, came in 2022, as she starred opposite music star Harry Styles in Don’t Worry Darling.

Directed by Olivia Wilde in only her second effort behind the camera, Don’t Worry Darling stole plenty of headlines for several wrong reasons: due to rumors of a feud between Wilde and Pugh, some strange moments during the press tour, and the apparent firing of the previously cast Shia LaBeouf. Four years on, and the dust has definitely settled, with Don’t Worry Darling now seen by some as underrated. At the time of writing, the film is one of the ten most-streamed titles on HBO Max in the world.

Your Universe Has Been Chosen
You Belong In…

Your answers point to the iconic universe your values, your instincts, and your particular way of seeing the world were built for. This is where you would find your people — and your purpose.

A Galaxy Far, Far Away

Star Wars

You believe in the cause — in the idea that freedom is worth fighting for even when the odds are impossible and the empire is vast.

  • You are drawn to the moral clarity of a universe where hope itself is a form of resistance.
  • You’d find your people in the Rebellion — a ragtag coalition of true believers held together by conviction more than resources.
  • Star Wars is fundamentally a story about ordinary people choosing to matter in an extraordinary conflict — and that is exactly your kind of story.
  • The Force may or may not be with you. But the will to use it for something larger than yourself certainly is.

Middle-earth

Lord of the Rings

You understand, in the deepest part of yourself, that the journey matters as much as the destination — and that the world’s beauty is worth protecting even at great cost.

  • Middle-earth is a world of ancient wonder, deep friendship, and a darkness that only retreats when enough small acts of courage accumulate.
  • You would thrive here because you value the fellowship more than the glory — the road more than the arrival.
  • Tolkien’s universe rewards patience, loyalty, and the willingness to carry something heavy across a very long distance.
  • Those are not burdens to you. They are simply how you move through the world.

The Wizarding World

Harry Potter

You believe that love, loyalty, and doing what’s right are not naive sentiments — they are the most powerful forces in any world, magical or otherwise.

  • The Wizarding World is a place of wonder hidden in plain sight, where learning is transformative and the bonds you form at school follow you into every battle.
  • You would flourish here because you take both the magic and the friendships seriously — and you understand that one without the other is incomplete.
  • Harry Potter’s universe ultimately rewards those who choose to stand for something even when standing is terrifying.
  • That choice — made quietly, without guarantee — is something you understand completely.

Westeros · The Known World

Game of Thrones

You see the world clearly — its power structures, its hypocrisies, its brutal arithmetic — and you are not paralysed by that clarity. You use it.

  • Westeros is a world that rewards intelligence, adaptability, and the willingness to understand that every alliance is also a negotiation.
  • You would survive here — possibly thrive here — because you don’t confuse the world as it is with the world as you’d like it to be.
  • Game of Thrones is a story about what happens when the idealists and the realists collide. You are sharp enough to know which one lasts longer.
  • Winter always comes. You are already prepared.

The United Federation of Planets

Star Trek

You believe the future is worth building — that curiosity, cooperation, and the expansion of understanding are not just ideals but the most practical path forward for any civilisation.

  • Star Trek is a universe where the questions matter as much as the answers, and where encountering something utterly alien is cause for wonder rather than fear.
  • You would belong here because you are fundamentally optimistic about what intelligence and decency can achieve — while being honest about how hard that achievement is.
  • The Federation is the universe’s most ambitious thought experiment: what if we actually got better?
  • You don’t just hope that’s possible. You think it’s the only thing worth working toward.

Olivia Wilde’s ‘Don’t Worry Darling’ Follow-Up Is Also a Streaming Success

Wilde’s second directorial effort was disappointing to some, but her third has reprised the success of her debut feature, Booksmart. A remake of the Spanish-language effort The People Upstairs, The Invite stars director Wilde alongside the perfectly cast trio of Seth Rogen, Edward Norton, and Penélope Cruz. A quiet hit at the box office, the film has since dropped on PVOD and found even more success, currently ranking as the most-watched movie on iTunes in the U.S. For Collider, Ross Bonaime awarded the movie a strong 8/10, writing, “The Invite is a mature, attractive-looking comedy, which we rarely get in this day and age.”

Don’t Worry Darling is a hit on HBO Max. Stay tuned to Collider for more updates.

Tiffany Haddish Reflects on 3rd Year of Sobriety After DUI

Published

on

Everything to Know About RHOSLC Alum Jen Shah's Legal Drama

Tiffany Haddish is opening up about her ongoing sobriety journey.

“Hey, I stopped drinking altogether when I realized how much bad stuff I was seeing connected to alcohol,” Haddish, 46, wrote via X on Saturday, August 22. “Sitting in court really opened my eyes. Case after case — domestic violence, child abuse, theft, fighting, Grape — alcohol kept showing up somewhere in the story. And I thought, ‘Damn, what would happen if I just never drank again?’ So I stopped.”

Haddish was arrested in January 2022 in Georgia for driving under the influence, for which she pleaded earlier this month. As part of her plea agreement to avoid trial, Haddish’s driver’s license was suspended and she was sentenced to 12-month probation. The comedian was arrested on suspicion of DUI for a second time in November 2023, also reaching a plea deal after pleading no contest to reckless driving. Haddish was also sentenced to probation.

In the years since her arrests, Haddish vowed to quit drinking.

“Over three years later, LIFE IS AWESOME. No more waking up in pain. No more waking up next to ugly people. 😂 No more toxic relationships,” the Girls Trip actress added on Saturday. “Narcissists REALLY don’t like sober Tiffany because I don’t feed into the mess anymore. It’s actually funny how fast a sober mind will run a toxic soul right up out of your life.”

Haddish continued, “I really wonder what would happen if everybody stopped drinking for just six weeks. How many arguments wouldn’t happen? How many bad decisions wouldn’t get made? How many people wouldn’t end up in court? I can only speak for me, but giving up alcohol gave me clarity.”

According to Haddish, she “can see [her] dreams clearer than ever” after three years without drinking alcohol.

“Now I actually believe I’m going to make every damn one of them come true,” she concluded. “Any Questions?!?”

Haddish previously announced in May 2024 that she planned to stop drinking “any” alcohol.

“Never gonna do that again,” she stressed to Extra at the time. “It feels good to wake up and my elbows ain’t aching. My knees ain’t burning. The crooks of my ankles ain’t on fire, you know, there’s no inflammation. I want to be in a good place. I want to see me in a good place, too.”

Prince William, Kate Join Royals at Church Before Harry’s Move

Published

on

Prince William and his wife, Princess Kate Middleton, attended church on Sunday, August 23, with members of the royal family.

William and Kate, 44, were photographed driving to Scotland’s Crathie Kirk Church on Sunday alongside their three children: Prince George, 13, Princess Charlotte, 11, and Prince Louis, 7.

While the Prince of Wales opted for a dapper navy suit, Kate stunned in a tweed blazer over a white turtleneck blouse topped with a coordinating brown fascinator with a large bow on the brim.

The Wales family of five were joined at the church by King Charles III, Queen Camilla, Princess Anne, Sir Timothy Laurence, Prince Edward and Duchess Sophie.

Just days earlier, news broke that Charles’ son Prince Harry planned to move back to England in time for his two kids with wife Meghan Markle to enroll in local schools for the fall semester.

Harry, 41, and Meghan, 45, initially stepped down from their duties as senior working royals in 2020 in favor of a private life with their kids Prince Archie, now 7, and Princess Lilibet, now 5. The stateside move soon sparked a rift between Harry and his father and brother.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have not publicly addressed their relocation, nor have any of Harry’s relatives. A royal expert, meanwhile, exclusively speculated how William and Kate took the announcement.

“All I can think of is, ‘Here we go again.’ For starters, I can only imagine that William and Kate are tearing their hair out,” Brothers and Wives author Christopher Andersen exclusively told Us on Wednesday, August 19. “They have so much on their plate as it is trying to shore up the monarchy and propel it into the future; they don’t really need to cope with having Harry and Megan on their proverbial doorstep.”

Andersen added, “By returning to the U.K., the Sussexes will inevitably suck up all the oxygen in the room. They will generate countless tabloid stories and take the focus away from other members of the Royal family, which is a major no-no. King Charles and Queen Camilla, in particular, don’t like to be upstaged, and the same goes for William.”

A second royal expert, former palace butler Grant Harrold, similarly told Us that moves likely wouldn’t “completely heal things” between Harry and William.

“Too much happened. It will be a situation where actions mean more than words,” Harrold theorized. “Right now, I don’t see things healing. I think they will be poker-faced and play happy families, but behind the scenes it will take a lot more.”

Meanwhile, Harry’s relationship with Charles, 77, has slowly turned a corner amid the king’s ongoing battle with an undisclosed form of cancer. The duke recently brought Meghan and their kids to visit with Charles during a trip to the U.K. in July.

3 New Hulu Movies With Great Rotten Tomatoes Scores, Ranked

Published

on

Jurassic Park s Sam Neill Is Not Remotely Afraid of Dying After Latest Round of Chemo Doesn t Work 403

It’s hard to find a decent movie to watch these days.

Fortunately, streamers like Netflix, Prime Video and more offer lots of new and old films that make their high subscription prices worth it.

Hulu is probably the best of them all, at least in August. The streamer just added a slew of new movies that have great Rotten Tomatoes scores.

Watch With Us has ranked the three best flicks for you to watch this month, and our list includes one of Steven Spielberg’s most popular movies and a critically acclaimed horror prequel starring Mia Goth.

3. ‘Jurassic Park’ (1993)

Jurassic Park s Sam Neill Is Not Remotely Afraid of Dying After Latest Round of Chemo Doesn t Work 403
Murray Close/Getty Images

Rotten Tomatoes score: 91 percent

How do you compete with Walt Disney’s iconic theme parks? For wealthy industrialist John Hammond (Richard Attenborough), he thinks the only way to best his long-dead competitor is to think big. That involves receiving long-extinct dinosaurs through genetic engineering and housing them on an exotic island theme park named Jurassic Park. But when he invites several scientists, including skeptical paleontologist Alan Grant (Sam Neill), he realizes his soon-to-be-opened park has some problems that need to be solved. The dinosaurs aren’t exactly happy to be caged, and they’re not as friendly to their human captors as Hammond would like them to be.

Unleashed in 1993, Jurassic Park won the hearts and minds of pretty much everyone who saw it. With skillful direction from Steven Spielberg, an iconic score by John Williams and groundbreaking special effects that still impress today, Jurassic Park offers dino-sized spectacle while still retaining a human heart. This summer’s The End of Oak Street with Anne Hathaway revived interest in cinematic dinos, but no film can touch Spielberg’s 1993 classic.

2. ‘Pearl’ (2022)

Mia Goth in Pearl

A24 / Courtesy Everett Collection

Rotten Tomatoes score: 93 percent

All Pearl (Mia Goth) wants to be is a star. Her dream seems impossible to achieve since she’s stuck on a Texas farm taking care of her ungrateful parents and waiting for her husband to return home from World War I. When she meets a traveling film projectionist (David Corenswet) who promises to help her practice for an upcoming audition, she thinks she has a shot at stardom. But Pearl’s delusions barely mask her unraveling sanity as she begins to think that the people who are holding her back are better off dead than alive.

A bizarre prequel to director Ti West’s modern horror classic X, Pearl is like a twisted version of The Wizard of Oz — except this Dorothy is armed with a pitchfork and very dangerous. The film works less as a slasher — be warned that the body count is small compared to X and its sequel, MaXXXine — and more as a psychological study of a woman who gradually realizes and accepts she’s a monster. Goth’s unhinged performance is an all-timer — she makes you sympathize with her character, even when she’s feeding her victims to her pet alligator, Theda.

1. ‘All of Us Strangers’ (2023)

Andrew Scott and Paul Mescal in All of Us Strangers

Rotten Tomatoes score: 96 percent

Lonely screenwriter Adam (Andrew Scott) just moved into a newly built London high-rise building, and the only other tenant seems to be Harry (Paul Mescal). When Harry makes a pass at him, Adam at first rejects it, preferring to be alone. Eventually, the two men hook up, and their casual fling becomes something more intimate. But Adam is still haunted by a tragedy from his childhood, and his reluctance to fully process that lingering trauma could jeopardize his relationship with Harry.

No plot description can quite do justice to the spell All of Us Strangers casts over you. It’s part family drama, part romance and also kind of a fantasy — you never quite know what’s real or if the things and people you’re seeing are real. Writer-director Andrew Haigh brilliantly creates a dreamlike London, with Adam stuck in a kind of purgatory of his own emotions. He can’t move forward unless he puts his past to rest, and that’s not as easy as he’d like. Scott received lots of critical praise for his deeply felt performance, and it’s deserved — he’s captivating in a way that isn’t showy and heart-wrenching without being manipulative.

‘Alien’ Meets ‘Black Hawk Down’ in the 10/10 Sci-Fi Thriller Officially Streaming on Netflix

Published

on

01105826_poster_w780.jpg

Alien invasion movies traditionally involve enormous spaceships arriving above major American cities before somebody inevitably decides it’s time to blow up the White House. However, in 2009, a movie came along that threw a wild idea at us. What if the aliens arrived, didn’t conquer anybody, and instead became refugees imprisoned because we didn’t trust them and wanted to exploit them for their resources? That premise turned into one of the most acclaimed science-fiction movies of the 21st century, and it’s charting on streaming now.

District 9 is streaming on Netflix, bringing the Oscar-nominated sci-fi thriller to the platform’s current science-fiction lineup. The film plunges us into a world where aliens — derogatorily nicknamed “prawns” — have landed only to be exiled to a slum and a government-controlled camp on the fringes of Johannesburg.

But then, one lone human named Wikus van de Merwe discovers the mysterious secret of the extraterrestrial weapon technology and, while being hunted and hounded through the bizarre back alleys of an alien shantytown, he soon understands what it means to be the ultimate outsider on your own planet. And after being exposed to a mysterious substance, Wikus begins undergoing a horrifying transformation that suddenly makes him extremely valuable to the same organization he works for — dead or alive.

Your Fate Has Been Calculated
You’d Survive In…

Your answers point to the world your instincts were built for. This is the universe your temperament, your survival instincts, and your particular brand of stubbornness were made for.

The Resistance, Zion

The Matrix

You took the red pill a long time ago — probably before anyone offered it to you. You’re a systems thinker who can’t help but notice the seams in things.

  • You’re drawn to understanding how the system works before figuring out how to break it.
  • You’d find the Resistance, or it would find you — your instinct for spotting constructed realities is the machines’ worst nightmare.
  • You function best when you have access to information and the freedom to act on it.
  • The Matrix built an airtight prison. You’d be the one probing the walls for the door.

The Wasteland

Mad Max

The wasteland doesn’t reward the clever or the well-connected — it rewards those who are hard to kill and harder to break. That’s you.

  • You don’t need comfort, community, or a cause larger than the next horizon.
  • You need a vehicle, a clear threat, and enough fuel to outrun it — and you’re good at all three.
  • You are unsentimental enough to survive that world, and decent enough — just barely — to be something more than another raider.
  • In the wasteland, that distinction is everything.

Los Angeles, 2049

Blade Runner

You’d survive here because you know how to exist in moral grey areas without losing yourself completely.

  • You read people accurately, keep your circle small, and ask the questions others prefer not to answer.
  • In a city where humanity is a legal designation rather than a feeling, you hold onto something that keeps you functional.
  • You’re not a hero. But you’re not lost, either.
  • In Blade Runner’s world, that distinction is everything.

Arrakis

Dune

Arrakis is the most hostile environment in the known universe — and you are precisely the kind of person it rewards.

  • Patience, discipline, and political awareness are your core strengths — and on Arrakis, they’re survival tools.
  • You understand that the long game matters more than any single victory.
  • Others come to Dune and are consumed by it. You’d learn its logic and earn its respect.
  • In time, you wouldn’t just survive Arrakis — you’d begin to reshape it.

A Galaxy Far, Far Away

Star Wars

The galaxy far, far away is vast, loud, and in a constant state of violent political upheaval — and you wouldn’t have it any other way.

  • You find meaning in being part of something larger than yourself — a cause, a crew, a rebellion.
  • You’d gravitate toward the Rebellion, or the fringes, or whatever pocket of the galaxy still believes the Empire’s grip can be broken.
  • You fight — not because you have to, but because standing aside isn’t something you’re capable of.
  • In Star Wars, that willingness is what makes all the difference.

Who Stars in ‘District 9’?

District 9 stars Sharlto Copley (The A-Team) as Wikus van de Merwe, Jason Cope (Dredd) as Christopher Johnson/Grey Bradnam, David James (The Young Ones) as Koobus Venter, Vanessa Haywood (Blood Diamond) as Tania van de Merwe, Mandla Gaduka (Generations) as Fundiswa Mhlanga, Kenneth Nkosi (Tsotsi) as Thomas, Eugene Khumbanyiwa (Chappie) as Obesandjo, Louis Minnaar (Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom) as Piet Smit, William Allen Young (Code Black) as Dirk Michaels, and Nathalie Boltt (Riverdale) as Sarah Livingstone. The movie was directed by Neill Blomkamp (Elysium) from a screenplay he co-wrote with Terri Tatchell, with Peter Jackson serving as a producer.

The film cost approximately $30 million and earned $210.8 million worldwide — roughly 7x its production budget in theatrical grosses. That included about $115.6 million in North America and $95.2 million internationally. It was an even bigger critical success. District 9 earned four Academy Award nominations, including the extremely unusual achievement for a hard sci-fi movie of being nominated for Best Picture. It was also nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Film Editing and Best Visual Effects.

District 9 is streaming now on Netflix.

The first thing you’ll notice about Peter Thomas Roth Peptide Skinjection Expression Line Hydra-Gel Patches? The unique shape. Unlike classic crescent-shaped eye gels, these flexible patches are designed to fit several areas of the face, including around the eyes, between the brows, across the forehead and around the nose and mouth.

You can strategically place them wherever expression marks are most noticeable, whether that’s crow’s feet from smiling, the “11” lines between your brows or creases that become more prominent when you scrunch your nose. The hydra-gel formula hugs the skin while you wear it, delivering ingredients directly to targeted areas without requiring you to slather your entire face in another serum or cream (no, they don’t slip and slide all over the place).

The actress turns to the Shiseido Benefiance Smoothing Eye Masks, according to Hello! Magazine. Since they’re on Amazon, you can get the star-studded results from home. The individually wrapped patches are […]

Peter Thomas Roth Peptide Skinjection Expression Line Hydra-Gel Patches are powered by a cocktail of peptides to help improve the appearance of expression lines and target vertical facial lines. There’s a hydration component, too, which is especially helpful considering dry, dehydrated skin can make fine lines appear more noticeable. As the cooling hydra-gel patches sit against the skin, they deliver moisture that helps treated areas look plumper, fresher and smoother once they’re removed.

While the patches don’t promise to stop facial movement altogether, they do offer a topical way to address the visible creasing that can come along with it. The combination of hydration and line-targeting ingredients makes them particularly appealing as a pre-event or pre-makeup treatment when you want skin to look a little more refreshed without adding several extra steps to your routine.

One Amazon reviewer said they “noticeably reduce puffiness around my eyes,” while another shopper said it makes the skin feel “tighter and smoother.”

We firmly believe that if you love something, you should own multiple so you never have to go without it. Tracee Ellis Ross abides by the same rule when it comes to her beloved Asics Gel Kayano sneakers — she claims to own “about 14 different pairs.”

The actress recently shared her (slightly unhinged) Asics obsession with The Strategist. Her love for the shoes runs deep; she began wearing the style in high school as a track and cross country runner.

“They have a wide toe box and they’re also chic,” she said in her interview. “I have so many different colorways… right now at my door, there are four pairs that I’ve worn this week.”

Ross most often wears a white sneaker with a little “variation” because they’re the most versatile. We 100% agree.

Looks aside, the Gel-Kayano shoes are a stellar option for those who need a comfortable stability shoe. They were developed specially for walkers and runners who overpronate, correcting their foot strike so they can continue moving without pain.

Shoppers who overpronate attest to the high comfort level, even when they’re clocking high mileage. “I have narrow, very flat feet,” one Amazon reviewer wrote. “These are SO comfortable. I walk five to 10 miles a day, and I’ve had zero pain.”

Like Ross, reviewers often reveal they own multiple pairs of Gel-Kayano. “This is my 3rd pair of Asics,” another shopper admitted. “These are amazing for running on the treadmill and have helped me gain multiple PR’s. They’ve also helped alleviate my plantar fasciitis.”

Hey, when a shoe is good, it’s good—and clearly, Ross feels it’s worth stocking up on her favorite pair. Once you run a few miles in the Asics Gel-Kayano Running Shoes, you’ll understand the hype and might even be tempted to snag another as a backup. Trust Us!

Rihanna Seemingly Addresses Baby Rumors, Talks "Little Pouch"

Some family outings are quiet, low-key and easy to miss. Others somehow become a moment all on their own. A$AP Rocky and Rihanna’s latest appearance in New York City landed somewhere in between, as the couple stepped out with their three children Riot, RZA, and Rocki after spending time together in Barbados — and, naturally, the looks did not go unnoticed.

A$AP Rocky & Rihanna Break The Internet With Their Mini-Me’s

On Friday, A$AP Rocky and Rihanna were photographed leaving the Four Seasons Hotel with sons RZA and Riot and their 11-month-old daughter, Rocki Irish Mayers. Rocky had his hands full, carrying one son on his shoulders while holding the other’s hand, before carrying baby Rocki, who looked adorable in an all-white outfit with pink bows in her hair. Rihanna followed nearby in a candy-pink track jacket, denim mini skirt and snakeskin sandals, looking every bit of THAT girl. The New York outing came shortly after the family spent quality time in Rihanna’s native Barbados. During the trip, the singer brought all three children back to the street where she grew up, reflecting on seeing her childhood surroundings through their eyes.

Did Rocki Just Say “Dada”?

More family moments surfaced online with a viral clip showing A$AP settling Rocki into her car seat and adjusting it to make sure she’s comfortable before turning his attention back to the kids. One of her brothers can then be heard saying, “Dada,” prompting Rocky to respond, “Yes?” But Rocki seemingly joins in on the conversation, appearing to repeat “dada” a few times of her own as she laughs, making the sweet family moment even more adorable.

Fans Can’t Stop Talking About Rih & Rocky’s Mini-Me’s

Fans quickly ran to The Shade Room’s Instagram comment section after the family photos surfaced, and plenty of them couldn’t seem to step away from the adorable moment. Some insisted that Riot is clearly Rih Rih’s twin, while others simply couldn’t get over how cute she is. And then there were those convinced she was born to be a star, pointing to the way she already poses for the paparazzi like she knows exactly where the cameras are.

One Instagram user @jasmyne_21 said, Why is she doing thee cutest poses with her daddy like she know wassup 😭😭😭😭”

This Instagram user @_sixgoddess wrote, Y’all keep saying that’s Rocky’s twin but she looks so much like Riri. 😍❤️”

And, Instagram user @alanna shared, She’s giving Daddy’s Girl 🩷”

Lanterns Sets DC Studios Viewership Record With 9.3 Million Views

Warner Bros. Boss Backs James Gunn’s DCU After Supergirl Flop

Supergirl may have fallen well short of expectations at the box office, but Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav is making it clear that the studio remains confident in the future of James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DC Universe.

During Warner Bros. Discovery’s latest earnings call, Zaslav was asked about the state of DC following the disappointing theatrical performance of Supergirl. Rather than signaling a change in direction, the Warner Bros. Discovery boss pointed toward the unpredictable nature of the entertainment industry and the projects DC Studios already has in development.

“Media is by nature a business full of hits and misses,” Zaslav said.

The comments come after Supergirl, starring Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El, struggled to find a sizable audience in theaters. The film opened to approximately $37 million domestically and ultimately finished its theatrical run with around $125 million worldwide against a reported $170 million production budget.

Those numbers make Supergirl a significant financial disappointment for Warner Bros. and an early setback for Gunn and Safran’s rebooted DC Universe. However, Zaslav does not appear ready to judge the future of the franchise based on the performance of a single film.

“We have a robust pipeline,” Zaslav said while discussing what is coming from DC Studios.

One of the biggest projects in that pipeline is Man of Tomorrow, Gunn’s follow up to 2025’s Superman. Zaslav revealed that Gunn is currently focused on the upcoming film and said he has already seen material from the production.

“James is now focused on Man of Tomorrow,” Zaslav said, adding that he recently saw images from the film and that it “looks fantastic.”

Man of Tomorrow will bring David Corenswet back as Superman alongside Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor. Gunn has previously teased an unusual dynamic between the longtime enemies, revealing that Superman and Lex will be forced to work together, at least to some degree, against a larger threat.

The film is quickly becoming one of the most important projects in the early years of the new DCU. Gunn’s Superman successfully launched the theatrical side of the franchise in 2025, while Supergirl demonstrated just how difficult it can be to turn lesser established DC characters into major theatrical draws.

That doesn’t necessarily mean the DCU itself is in trouble. One unsuccessful movie rarely determines the fate of an entire cinematic universe, particularly this early in its lifespan. But Supergirl does put additional pressure on upcoming projects to prove that audiences are interested in exploring the wider DC roster beyond characters like Superman and Batman.

Warner Bros. also has more opportunities to build that audience. DC Studios has several projects moving forward across film and television, including Lanterns, Clayface and eventually The Batman Part II under the separate DC Elseworlds banner.

For now, Warner Bros. appears committed to staying the course.

Rather than reacting to Supergirl by immediately restructuring its DC plans, Zaslav’s comments suggest the studio understands that building a new cinematic universe will inevitably come with successes and failures. The real question will be whether Gunn and Safran can turn those individual projects into a franchise audiences consistently want to follow.

Man of Tomorrow could provide that answer sooner rather than later.

The film is currently scheduled to hit theaters on July 9, 2027.
