Gal Gadot Endured A 6-Month Negotiation To Avoid AI Interferance

When it comes to protecting her work, Gal Gadot is ready to go all out!

The “Red Notice” actress has a new project on the way with Director Doug Liman. However, with generative technology becoming more common across the entertainment industry, she made sure every safeguard was in place.

Meanwhile, other actors, like Matthew McConaughey, have since taken steps to protect their likenesses.

During a recent appearance on the “Happy Sad Confused” podcast, the “Fast & Furious” actress opened up about the efforts she made to ensure her portrayal in the upcoming film “Bitcoin” remained entirely her own.

She noted that contract negotiations went on for a long time before her lawyers and the production team came to an agreement about the limitations.

“It was six months for my lawyers to go through every scenario we could think about as far as the AI component of it,” the “Snow White” actress shared.

She added that she didn’t want the technology to interfere with her performance. By the end of the process, her attorneys had addressed every concern and were even offering recommendations to SAG-AFTRA.

“We had to protect that, to such an extent that SAG called my lawyers to ask for pointers to update the SAG contract to protect other actors,” Gadot revealed. “ As far as the performances, it’s all me.”

While discussing how she safeguards her work, the 41-year-old actress also reflected on her departure from the Marvel franchise.

As The Blast reported, Gadot was asked whether she ever accepted that her time as the superhero might be over after learning that a third film would no longer move forward.

She revealed that the studio’s leaders, James Gunn and Peter Safran, had initially reassured her that they planned to develop a third movie with her.

However, as time passed, she observed how other actors and filmmakers connected to the previous DC leadership were being treated during the studio’s restructuring.

Reflecting on Henry Cavill’s experience, Gadot noted that it was disappointing to see him publicly announce his return as Superman only for the role to later be recast. She also criticized the way director Patty Jenkins was treated.

Much like Gal Gadot calling in her lawyers to guard her work against digital interference, Matthew McConaughey has taken similar steps.

Earlier this year, The Blast reported that McConaughey trademarked elements of his image and voice to prevent unauthorized machine-generated imitations of his likeness or speech.

The filings covered his iconic “Alright, alright, alright” catchphrase along with select video clips. His legal team began pursuing protection for the phrase in late 2023, with approval officially granted in 2025.

As actors take steps to safeguard their image, scrutiny has also grown over the increasing role of digital technology in filmmaking.

During a conversation in July with former Sony executive Michael Lynton about its impact on filmmaking, Jodie Foster pointed to Brad Pitt’s hit racing drama as an example.

Foster made it clear that her comments were not meant as a criticism of the movie, before noting that watching it “feels like something AI could have created,” per The Blast.

She continued, alleging that the structure is exactly what you’re taught in film school. Foster argued that the dialogue between characters was delivered as how a computer would.

Another film that has sparked speculation over the use of computer technology is “Spider-Man: Brand New Day.”

Following its August release, viewers closely examined several scenes, pointing to visual oddities they believed may have been digitally generated.

One moment that caught attention featured two taxis traveling in opposite directions, appearing to blur into one another unusually.

Viewers also pointed to a fire escape on one of the buildings, with its stairs appearing warped and uneven compared with the familiar structures found throughout New York.

Fans wasted no time criticizing the irregularities. One fan slammed, per The Blast. “Using generative AI to concept design a real-life city like New York is wild lol. like… It’s NYC. Just look out a window or take a photo??”

A Bloody, Brutal Blast From Start to Finish

Published

on

The Looney Tunes Movie Was Worth Saving

There is something almost impossibly fitting about the journey of Coyote vs. Acme. A movie centered around Wile E. Coyote, a character defined by getting flattened, blown up, dropped off cliffs and somehow coming back for another try, was itself nearly erased from existence before finding a way back.

Thankfully, it did.

Coyote vs. Acme isn’t just the curiosity many expected after years of headlines surrounding its shelving. It’s a genuinely funny, surprisingly heartfelt celebration of the Looney Tunes that understands exactly why these characters have survived for generations.

Directed by Dave Green, the film takes one of the simplest running jokes in animation history and asks a question that suddenly seems completely reasonable: After decades of defective rockets, exploding bird seed, malfunctioning traps and other catastrophically unreliable products, why hasn’t Wile E. Coyote sued ACME?

That’s exactly what he does.

Wile E. teams with struggling attorney Kevin Avery, played by Will Forte, to take ACME Corporation to court over the company’s long history of products that have repeatedly exploded in his face. Standing on the other side is ACME’s powerful attorney Buddy Crane, played with exactly the kind of exaggerated confidence you’d expect from John Cena.

It’s a ridiculous premise, but the movie commits to it.

Rather than simply using the Looney Tunes characters as decoration around another live action story, Coyote vs. Acmemanages to bring their world into ours without stripping away what makes it special. Cartoon logic still applies. Explosions happen. Characters survive things no living creature possibly could. Elaborate contraptions go spectacularly wrong.

Most importantly, it actually feels like Looney Tunes.

That has been one of the biggest challenges for previous attempts to bring these characters into live action. Here, the filmmakers aren’t embarrassed by the absurdity. They embrace it.

Forte proves to be an ideal human counterpart for Wile E. Coyote. His comedic style has always worked best when playing characters who are slightly desperate, slightly defeated and somehow still convinced things might eventually work out. Pairing him with perhaps the most relentlessly unsuccessful character in animation history turns out to be a perfect match.

Cena is having even more fun. His ability to completely commit to absurd comedy has become one of his greatest strengths as an actor, and Coyote vs. Acme gives him plenty of opportunities to lean into it.

But Wile E. remains the star.

For a character who barely needs words, the movie finds an impressive amount of emotion underneath the slapstick. His endless pursuit of the Road Runner has always been funny because he refuses to quit. Here, that stubbornness becomes something unexpectedly meaningful.

The movie even manages to find a little heart inside all the falling anvils and exploding rockets.

That doesn’t mean everything lands perfectly. Some of the human material isn’t as entertaining as the animated chaos surrounding it, and there are stretches where the courtroom story slows down the manic Looney Tunes energy. Not every joke hits, either.

But the misses rarely linger because another gag is usually seconds away.

Early critical reaction has been overwhelmingly positive, and it’s easy to understand why. The Hollywood Reporter called the movie a “hilarious delight,” while praising it as one of the best combinations of live action and animation. Variety highlighted the movie’s ability to pack Road Runner style destruction, references and Looney Tunes Easter eggs into its courtroom comedy. Deadline went even further, comparing the film favorably to Who Framed Roger Rabbit.

Those are lofty comparisons, and Coyote vs. Acme doesn’t quite reach the all time greatness of Roger Rabbit. But the fact that the comparison doesn’t feel completely ridiculous says plenty about how well this movie works.

John Cena, Coyote vs Acme [credit: Warner Bros. Pictures]

There’s also an unavoidable layer of irony surrounding the entire story.

Warner Bros. Discovery originally planned to shelve the completed film, turning it into one of Hollywood’s most controversial examples of finished projects being abandoned for financial reasons. After enormous backlash from filmmakers, actors and fans, the movie eventually escaped that fate and found a new home with Ketchup Entertainment.

That history makes the movie’s story about a powerless individual taking on an enormous corporation almost comically appropriate.

You couldn’t write a better marketing campaign.

More importantly, audiences now get the opportunity to decide whether the movie deserved to survive.

It did.

Coyote vs. Acme isn’t revolutionary, and it doesn’t need to be. It’s funny, charming, energetic and clearly made by people who genuinely love these characters. Instead of attempting to reinvent the Looney Tunes for modern audiences, it remembers that great characters don’t always need reinventing.

Sometimes you just need to give Wile E. Coyote another rocket, point him toward the Road Runner and get out of the way.

After everything Coyote vs. Acme went through just to reach a theater screen, perhaps there was never a more appropriate movie to prove that getting knocked down doesn’t mean you’re finished.

Earle, 25, admitted she wasn’t sure she could sit through the first episode with hundreds of people watching. While filming her “Get Ready With Me” (GRWM) video, she opened up about how she felt in that moment.

“It’s premiere day, and I’m gonna puke,” she said. “We’re doing a screening of the first episode of the show tonight and having a little premiere party.”

Earle added that she’s been feeling “so anxious all day.”

“Like my heart is beating out of my chest. I like don’t want to sit there while other people watch it, like I might just have to leave the room,” she explained.

Earle then picked out what she’s going to wear to the premiere: a white dress and “an after-party outfit.” She then shared that while she had already watched all the episodes, she’s not comfortable watching herself alongside other people.

“We’re gonna watch like a screening, um, in this big theater of the first episode, which I think there’s like 400 people coming, and I am just like, I might have to leave the room when they are playing this,” Earle said. “I’ve seen all the episodes, but I just like I don’t know if I can sit and watch myself while other people are sitting there. Also, I feel like the first episode is like a little bit slower in the beginning because it’s like you’re getting to know everyone and everything, and like, I just— oh my God.”

Celebrating ‘Earle Meets World’

After the Los Angeles premiere, Earle revealed that she will have a “little after party” in a “big party bus” with her friends and family.

“We’ll see where the night takes us, but going out with my family is always really fun, and I feel like we’ve just assembled everyone,” she shared. “I’m like, it’s a Tuesday, we’re gonna have a fun night.”

“So in this first episode, it starts off with my breakup, and then it goes into like meeting the family. I’m kind of nervous too because I feel like Ashton and me like s— on Ashley a little bit in this,” she recalled. “So we’re gonna be sitting in the theatre all together like, ‘hi!’ So I’m gonna— I don’t care. I hope I don’t have like googly eyes on this carpet, but I can’t stop shaking right now, so I’m just gonna take a little— take a little sip.”

During the Earle Meets World Cast Event with “The Morning Mash Up” on “SiriusXM Hits 1 (Ch. 2),” Earle talked about what viewers will see in regards to her split with Berrios, 30.

“First thing we filmed too was I was like moving out of my boyfriend’s house, and it was like a really vulnerable — I was like snotty and all over the place,” she said.

While the two have broken up, Earle confirmed that the Houston Texans wide receiver will appear in the Netflix series and said she made an effort to keep him informed about what viewers will see.

“He does know, and I wanted to like make him aware of everything,” she said.

Before reflecting on her experience filming the aftermath of their breakup, Earle also joked about Berrios’ role in the season.

“All I did was cry the whole season,” she said. “But um, yeah, he knows. We talk about how great he is.”

Elliot Page Admits Lack Of Acting Roles After ‘The Odyssey’

Despite securing a prominent role in Christopher Nolan’s blockbuster epic “The Odyssey”, Elliot Page is currently navigating a surprisingly quiet period in his acting career.

The Oscar-nominated actor candidly revealed that, unlike public assumption, the high-profile project has not immediately translated into a surge of new script offers.

The Canadian actor and film producer has starred in several notable projects, including the “Umbrella Academy,” the “X-Men,” and Nolan’s “Inception.”

After his performance as the Greek soldier Sinon in Nolan’s fantasy epic “The Odyssey,” 39-year-old actor Page revealed that the blockbuster’s success hasn’t led to new acting opportunities.

During the “On Film… With Kevin McCarthy” podcast on Tuesday, September 1, the host asked if the actor was “getting a zillion calls after this movie.” However, he surprisingly clarified that he hasn’t gotten many new offers, although he would love to.”

Page added, “I’d really love to do, ideally, good work. That’s what I’d love to do.”

Describing his earlier acting experiences, he admitted feeling deeply uncomfortable on set while navigating his performance. Now, following his gender transition, Page shared that he can fully focus on his craft without underlying personal discomfort.

Although Page now feels more comfortable acting following his transition, Nolan received significant backlash for casting him in “The Odyssey.” When asked to address the backlash, he said the criticism was “irrelevant” and vowed to do his best in the role he was cast to play.

Elliot Page Impressed Fans With Fitness Transformation Amid Film Debate

Despite the temporary lull in incoming acting roles, Page continued to command headlines by showcasing his physical transformation and commitment to personal wellness.

In June, Page turned heads across social media by giving fans a glimpse into his rigorous fitness routine. According to The Blast, the 39-year-old actor shared a series of photos and training videos on Instagram that documented his intense boxing sessions with New York-based coach Nolan Hanson.

In his caption, Page expressed deep appreciation for Hanson’s coaching style, praising his strategic mind and psychological approach to the sport.

Describing boxing as an “essential” routine, Page also encouraged others to try it out. He also playfully warned fans that they might get as “hooked” as he is.

The Actor Previously Opened Up About Early Struggles & Misconceptions Around Identity

Beyond physical fitness, Page has used his platform to reflect on identity and challenge societal norms around gender and sexuality.

The Blast previously detailed how the “Juno” star opened up about the emotional toll of growing up queer. He reflected candidly on experiencing profound loneliness and carrying a heavy burden of shame during his youth.

Explaining his motivation for joining the documentary project, Page stressed the importance of debunking myths regarding what is considered “natural.”

“And I think that sense of growing up as a queer kid and feeling alone — ’cause you feel like you are alone, even, of course, in retrospect, you’re not — you weren’t. You feel excluded, you feel like something’s wrong with you,” he said.

Elliot Page Also Detailed How Censorship & Misconceptions Compound Personal Shame

Expanding on his discussion about growing up queer, Page highlighted how societal pressure and institutional barriers complicate open dialogue surrounding LGBTQ+ experiences.

The Oscar nominee explained that navigating personal identity becomes far more difficult when individuals face systemic “censorship” and “erasure.”

Page pointed out that young queer people are often burdened by widespread societal shame, which is exacerbated by false narratives regarding how the natural world operates.

He then addressed the heavy emotional toll and false premises surrounding gender and sexuality and noted that highlighting scientific evidence of diversity in nature helps dismantle rigid assumptions.

Elliot Page Launched His Relationship With Actress Julia Shiplett Last Year

Alongside navigating systemic barriers and reflecting on his youth, Page has also celebrated personal happiness and romance in his private life.

Marking his first public romance since coming out as transgender in 2020, the “Umbrella Academy” star went public with actress Julia Shiplett, best known for her role in “Overcompensating.”

Last year, Page posted a photo to Instagram showing himself and his partner embracing happily on a rainbow-paved street. He also captioned the upload with a rainbow and double-heart emoji, per The Blast.

Shiplett also confirmed their relationship on social media, sharing a video on her Instagram Stories showing a shirtless Page wading in a natural spring. The affectionate posts confirmed the pair’s relationship for fans, offering an adorable glimpse into the actor’s personal life.

Ben Affleck And Jennifer Lopez Fall Back Into ‘Same Old Dynamic’

Published

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are reportedly reconnecting following their divorce, with sources claiming that the couple has started getting close again and supporting each other.

Affleck, who was married to Lopez for two years, has been there for the singer as she continues to carry the weight of a demanding workload, raising concern that she is taxing herself far too much.

The pair are supposedly in frequent contact, sparking speculation about a romantic reunion that sources say is a real possibility.

According to Globe Magazine, Lopez has been leaning on her former husband as she continues to navigate a reportedly packed schedule.

A source tells the outlet that the former couple “spend a lot more time together these days than anyone realizes.”

The source alleged that Affleck has been keeping up with Lopez through frequent phone conversations “at all hours.” Affleck is apparently attempting to support her in what is reported to be a difficult time for the actress.

“They seem to be back to their same old dynamic where she’s going to him for advice on everything,” they noted.

Lopez has reportedly been taking on more commitments even as her schedule is already crowded, prompting people around her to worry. According to the insider, “People are worried she’s going to have another breakdown.”

The worries about her overworking herself aren’t unprecedented, as the “Jenny from the Block” singer previously had a health scare from taking on too much without allowing herself the time to rest.

The Singer Once Suffered A Health Crisis From Working Too Much

Lopez’s history of burdening herself with a lot of work once resulted in “scary symptoms,” as the singer reportedly couldn’t see and felt paralyzed.

According to Page Six, Lopez revealed that she didn’t pay attention to her limitations early on in her career and once worked “98 days in a row without taking a day off,” which resulted in a health scare that sent her to the hospital.

The singer, after working herself to the bone, would feel the consequences acutely as the exhaustion finally caught up to her on the set of her 2002 thriller “Enough.”

She said, “Every time I walk to the set, I start getting a little pitter-patter in my heart… it got to the point I was like, I really feel nervous.”

Lopez added that she retreated to her trailer to relax, but the symptoms got worse: “I went back to the trailer, and I sat down, and all of a sudden, I just couldn’t see… like something just went over my eyes, and I couldn’t move.”

She would eventually find herself in front of a doctor who assured her that her symptoms were real, suggesting that she needed to take it easy.

It’s not just Lopez who is leaning on Affleck; sources have also claimed that the reverse has been the case, particularly after the death of Affleck’s mother, Chris Anne Affleck.

Affleck’s mother passed away earlier this year at age 83; she was given approximately six months to live after a terminal diagnosis in December 2025.

She died peacefully in her sleep two days after attending her grandson’s high school graduation, which was her greatest wish at the time.

The loss was especially significant for Affleck because he had lost his mother, with whom he shared a close relationship. Globe reports that Lopez reached out to him at the time, a gesture which “meant so much to him”.

“He let down his guard, and he’s been leaning on her,” the source said, adding that Lopez also started leaning on him again, as she too was struggling.

Their difficult circumstances brought the former lovers back to each other’s realm following their divorce in 2025.

A Renewed Bennifer Romance ‘Not Out Of The Question

Lopez and Affleck have reportedly fallen into what sources are calling a familiar dynamic, with Lopez seeking advice from the “Good Will Hunting” actor on everything.

People wonder if their relationship would turn romantic again after the two began seeking comfort in each other. At least one source claims that such a development is “definitely not out of the question.”

Lopez and Affleck’s romantic history began in 2002 on the set of their movie “Gigli.”

They got engaged the same year, with Lopez stating, as per People, “I just admire him in every way.”

Affleck and Lopez broke up following a canceled wedding in 2004 but would rekindle their relationship in 2021 and get married the next year.

After two years as a married couple, they called it quits once more, with the singer filing for divorce on August 20, 2024, on what would have been their second wedding anniversary. The divorce was finalized in January 2025.

Now, as the pair allegedly continues to be attached emotionally, suspicions of a reignited spark emerge.

However, neither has indicated that they are romantically involved; they remain friends and ensure that the other knows they are cared for.

Big Brother TWIST: Devens and Drew Set for 2 Blindsides!

Published

on

Big Brother 28: Rick Devens

Big Brother live feeds are lit up with blindside talks and Rick Devens and Drew Campbell are set for a shocking Thursday unless something pivots in the house. Plus, Barrett Pfeiffer might be cheated out of his glory, plus, the Griddy and more.

Big Brother: Barrett’s Ready to Play?

If you’re keeping up, you know Barrett’s been talking about flipping on Devens, siding with Melody Morris, Yash Patel and whoever gets off the block to evict Devens. But we’ve heard Barrett say this before. But this time, it seems legit.

Barrett cam talked yesterday for a long while and the gist of it is he told America if Rick Devens is on the block Thursday, he will get rid of him. Barrett said maybe Devens and the Crossovers take him to final 5 but that’s not the path he wants.

Hewasn’t sure Yash and Melody would take him to the end but said he doesn’t want a Survivor to win. Barrett said if he goes down taking Angela Murray, Devens and Dee Valladares down, then he’s fine with it.

And he said he didn’t want to get to final 2 chair dragged there by the icons. And then, Barrett said Angela was making a big deal out of saying they trust him when the icons were just saying they weren’t sure if they trusted him.

Barrett said Angela doing the whole, “I trust you” said at a very opportune time was really great acting – for “a low budget movie”. Barrett throwing Angela’s crazy eyes speech words was a great throwback.

Big Brother 28: Is Devens Doomed?

So, Barrett seems locked in. If Devens doesn’t win the BB Blockbuster, he’s definitely going home. But then, out of left field, Dee started low-key selling Angela on evicting Devens this week. Dee’s selling points were solid.

Everyone loves Devens, he’s got jury votes locked. Angela and Dee know they can’t beat him at final 2. Ironically, Angela and Dee think Barrett’s voting with them to save Devens. So, Angela and Dee are going to throw one vote at Devens.

That’ll ensure he’s evicted and plan to blame the hinky vote on Barrett. That way, Angela and Dee won’t have Devens mad at them. But their plan was made in ignorance of Barrett’s blindside plan.

So, if both blindsides happen, the vote would be 5-1 instead of 4-2. And this might cheat Barrett who was talking about him flipping the vote being good for his resume. But if Dee flips on Devens too, that may totally overshadow Barrett.

Because then Dee can say she sent Devens home as her big move and Barrett’s vote was irrelevant. With a 5-1 vote, Devens will immediately know a vet betrayed him. However, I don’t think Devens would hold a blindside against Angela and Dee.

Big Brother: Devens Learns the Moves

I’ve seen many people suggesting it could be a BB Blockbuster tailor made for Devens. Fire making, finding an immunity idol, doing the Griddy. If you haven’t seen it, it’s amazing. Yash taught Devens how to do the Griddy.

Devens was in sweats that were falling down, Taylor was cheering and Yash was so excited. I think tomorrow night we might see some real tears when Barrett and others say “I sadly vote to evict Rick Devens”.

Plus, his wife Becca knows his game’s on the line and she’s been posting some interesting stuff. She reposted a photo of Barrett hugging Devens and captioned it: But Barrett, he’s your baby with a cry face emoji.

And Becca also said Dee is cut throat and she expected them to ditch each other, just not this early. Becca said Dee still needs Devens and Becca hopes he wins the Blockbuster.

She said she wants to see Devens a little more. Because once he’s in Jury, Becca, Jack and JuJu will only get to see him when they show jury clips from now until October.

Big Brother 28: Hanging by a Thread

Of course, there’s a chance Devens gets off the block Thursday night. It could easily be Taylor Brown versus Lala Verrett as the two left on the block. I’m hoping to see ropes blockbuster tonight but if it is, Devens is headed to the jury house.

You may remember Dee told Barrett they shouldn’t cuddle anymore and then just told Yash she had a dream about him. Yash said that must’ve been lit. Dee said it was weird, we were cuddling. Yash said aww that’s sweet and hugged her.

So, is Dee plotting to send out her ride or die Devens, boot Barrett aside and start playing with Yash? He’s all-in on Taylor which may frustrate Dee because she tried to get Kamu Kirk to turn on Taylor and he was having none of it.

Current Vote Counts on BB28

By the way, Tiffany Mitchell allegedly asked production about Dee’s bribe power. Because everyone’s been curious. My theory was the bribe is done if Dee’s evicted before Yash wins HOH. But, looks like Tiffany got confirmation otherwise.

Word is, as long as there’s an icon in the house, the deal is good for the next HOH that Yash wins even if Dee’s gone. If Yash wins HOH now, he can’t nom them, but it would end the bribe and they have the votes to evict Drew over anyone else.

Otherwise, let’s talk math for Yash’s bribe with the caveat about not nominating them unless it’s mathematically impossible. At final 5, with just 4 nominee options, Yash could put either Dee or Angela on the block or renom one.

At final 6, he’d have 5 options, so Yash couldn’t nom or renom Angela or Dee. Unless someone who’s not on the block wins the veto comp and pulls someone down. Then, the numbers would force an icon renom but that’s very conditional.

Big Brother: A Showmance is Simmering

And back to the subject of cuddling, Melody’s been draped all over Drew in the HOH bed. They’re doing full-body hugs, talking about trust, holding hands. Drew’s been picking up Melody in the HOH room, carrying her around. It’s simmering y’all.

I want to share some unsubstantiated but interesting information that seems plausible. Someone posted Devens and Dee are getting $5,000 a week stipend instead of the usual $1,000 the other houseguests get and Angela’s getting $3,000.

So, if Devens does win the BB Blockbuster and takes himself off the block, and it’s Taylor versus Lala, the question is how will that vote go? Barrett and Yash likely vote to save Taylor. Melody likely also will and since Lala’s a comp beast, she may go.

Also, someone reported that Big Brother US producers were reportedly forced to reverse the live feed blackout after Paramount pushed back over a dramatic drop in engagement.

And the official Big Brother account clapped back on them accusing them of misinformation and being really snarky. Still, the live feeds coming back early was sketchy. It’s not like the network would lie to us, right? Because it’s reality TV.

Bosch proves that the procedural remains not only one of television’s most popular genres but also one of its most versatile. The series hooked viewers by depicting season-long cases and moments where Titus Welliver’s titular detective was forced to dabble in shades of grey, launching a long-running franchise in the process. The latest installment, Bosch: Start of Watch, turns back the clock and features a new actor stepping into Bosch’s shoes with Cameron Monaghan. If fans want a series that hews closer to the original Bosch, they should check out Sky’s upcoming detective thriller that features a game-changing twist.

That thriller is Meantime, based on Frankie Boyle’s novel of the same name and starring James McAvoy in the lead role. McAvoy plays Felix McAveety, a man who’s struggling with addictive tendencies all his life. One day, Felix wakes up and learns that his best friend was murdered. Wanting to clear his name, Felix hires a pair of unorthodox sleuths: adetective turned crime novelist (Josette Simon) and a longtime friend (Jamie Michie). This helps set Meantime apart from the usual detective thrillers, but it also gives McAvoy a chance to truly flex his acting muscles.

‘Meantime’ Will Let James McAvoy Play Against Type

Most of McAvoy’s roles usually feature him as a supporting character or a grounding presence, particularly when he took on the role of Charles Xavier in 20th Century Fox’s X-Men franchise. In recent years, he’s been allowed to tap into his more chaotic side, particularly when he played a literal multitude of personalities in Split. He needs to bring that same energy to Meantime, especially given how Frankie Boyle writes Felix. Felix is often prone to bouts of paranoia and hallucinations, which often lead him to make outlandish accusations and treat everyone as though they’re a suspect in his friend’s murder. This is a thin line to walk; McAvoy needs to make sure he can nail the comedic timing without treating Felix’s addiction as a punchline.

Luckily, McAvoy was the star of a crime thriller that shows he has the skills to pull off this performance. Filth features him as Bruce Robertson, a detective who engages in vices that include drug and alcohol abuse, in addition to acting as an outright bully. As Filth goes on, it’s revealed that Robertson’s behavior is the product of a failed marriage and mental health issues, which adds layers to a character that was previously portrayed as unsympathetic. If McAvoy can bring the same level of acting to Meantime, he’ll have another great crime thriller under his belt.

Your Partner Has Been Assigned
Your Perfect Partner Is…

Your answers have pointed to one action hero above all others. This is the person built to have your back — for better or considerably, spectacularly worse.

Rambo

Your partner doesn’t talk much, doesn’t need to, and will have assessed every threat in your immediate environment before you’ve finished your first sentence. John Rambo is not a man of plans or politics — he is a force of nature shaped by survival, loyalty, and a capacity for endurance that goes beyond anything training can produce. He will not leave you behind. He has never left anyone behind who deserved to come home. What you get with Rambo is the most capable, most quietly ferocious partner imaginable — one who has been through things that would have broken anyone else, and who chose to keep going anyway. You’ll never need to ask if he has your back. You’ll just know.

James Bond

Your partner will arrive perfectly dressed, perfectly briefed, and with a cover story so convincing it’ll take you a moment to remember what’s actually true. James Bond is the most professionally dangerous person in any room he enters — and the most disarmingly charming, which is the point. He operates in a world of layers, where nothing is what it appears and every advantage is used without apology. You’ll never be bored. You’ll occasionally be furious. But when it matters — when the mission is genuinely on the line and the margin for error has collapsed to nothing — Bond is exactly the partner you want. He has survived things that have no business being survivable. He does it with style. That is not nothing.

Indiana Jones

Your partner will know the history, the language, the cultural context, and exactly why the thing everyone else is ignoring is actually the most important thing in the room. Indiana Jones is brilliant, reckless, and occasionally impossible — but he is also one of the most resourceful, most genuinely knowledgeable partners you could find yourself beside. He approaches every situation with a scholar’s eye and a brawler’s instinct, which is an unusual combination and a remarkably effective one. He hates snakes and gets personally attached to objects of historical significance, both of which will slow you down at least once. It doesn’t matter. What Indy brings is irreplaceable — and the adventures you’ll have together will be the kind people write books about. Assuming you survive them.

John McClane

Your partner was not supposed to be here. He does not have the right equipment, the right information, or anything approaching the right odds. He has a sarcastic remark and an absolute refusal to accept that the situation is as bad as it looks. John McClane is the greatest accidental hero in the history of action cinema — a man whose superpower is stubbornness, whose contingency plan is improvisation, and whose capacity to absorb punishment and keep moving would be alarming if it weren’t so useful. He will complain the entire time. He will make it significantly more chaotic than it needed to be. And he will absolutely, unconditionally, without question come through when it counts. Yippee-ki-yay.

Ethan Hunt

Your partner has already run seventeen scenarios by the time you’ve finished reading the briefing, and the plan he’s settled on involves at least two things that should be physically impossible. Ethan Hunt operates at the absolute edge of human capability — technically, physically, and intellectually — and he brings the same relentless precision to protecting his partners that he brings to dismantling organisations that shouldn’t exist. He is not easy to know and he will never fully tell you everything. But he will carry the weight of the mission so completely, so absolutely, that your job is simply to trust him — and the remarkable thing is that trusting him always turns out to be the right call. The mission will be impossible. He will complete it anyway.

Marvel and ‘Doctor Who’ Alums Will Join James McAvoy in ‘Meantime’

While James McAvoy might be the star of Meantime, he’ll also be joined by top-tier talent. In addition to Josette Simon and Jamie Michie, the cast includes Christopher Eccleston and Benedict Wong in yet-to-be-revealed roles. Like McAvoy, both actors are mostly known for genre fare, with Eccleston leading the Doctor Who revival and Wong starring in comic book adaptations including Deadly Class and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Still, it’s McAvoy who will remain the major draw, according to Sky TV boss Meghan Lyvers during a panel at this year’s Edinburgh TV Festival.

“James McAvoy is in every scene, and he’s amazing…And so that feels like just a really original story that we get to tell and support.”

Meantime joins a packed slate of original and returning series from Sky, which includes the second seasons of breakout hits like Heated Rivalry and Sweetpea, in addition to an upcoming adaptation of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. That’s quite the competition, but Meantime can stand out if it stays true to the darkly comedic roots of its source material. It also needs to make sure James McAvoy has room to deliver what could be one of the best performances of his career.

Meantime is slated to premiere on Sky. Stay tuned to Collider for future updates.

Inside Harry Styles & Zoë Kravitz’s ‘Laid Back’ Wedding Approach

Published

on

Harry Styles and Zoe Kravitz arrives to SNL afterparty

Harry Styles and Zoë Kravitz are reportedly planning a wedding celebration that somehow combines privacy and high-energy festivities.

Following confirmation of their engagement, insiders reveal that the couple is taking a relaxed, focused approach to planning their upcoming nuptials.

Styles and Kravitz’s relationship first made headlines last year, after they were spotted arm-in-arm in Rome. Their engagement was later confirmed in April, eight months after the high-profile couple was first publicly linked.

Styles and Kravitz are opting for a balanced wedding itinerary that combines a small ceremony with music-filled receptions.

Rather than getting bogged down by traditional wedding details, the duo is reportedly concentrating on creating a memorable experience centered around live entertainment and their tight-knit inner circle.

A source revealed exclusively to People Magazine that while the exchange of vows will remain deeply personal and private, the pair plans to host “big parties” featuring live bands and plenty of dancing for their friends and family.

“Zoë and Harry want to have live music, that’s a big part of the wedding for them,” the source said.

“Other than that, they really care most about having their loved ones around and partying with those close to them,” the source added.

The insider also added that both stars share a “laid-back” attitude toward the event logistics and are “not very fussy” about the details. Instead, they’re more focused on creating a beautiful experience for their loved ones.

Building on their desire for a private ceremony, previous reports indicate that Styles and Kravitz are considering a winter wedding hosted in the United Kingdom. In May, early reports revealed that the couple was quietly weighing options for a small UK ceremony centered around the Christmas season.

The Blast noted that inside sources pointed to the couple’s preference for a “small wedding” surrounded by family and close friends rather than a lavish spectacle.

Additionally, the United Kingdom holds significant sentimental value for both stars, who spent extensive time in London throughout their romance.

While the wedding plans for the Styles and Kravitz’s nuptials are still underway, one important high-profile figure has already revealed that he will not be at the wedding.

According to The Blast, former One Direction member Niall Horan confirmed that he will not be attending the wedding of his former bandmate.

During an interview, the 32-year-old singer discussed his summer plans, noting that while he is excited to celebrate at a few upcoming weddings for personal friends, Styles’ nuptials are not on his schedule.

When the radio hosts playfully probed if his calendar included “old people you used to work with,” Horan quickly recognized the reference to Styles and laughed off the connection.

“Alright. No, no, no. I get it now. Just mates of mine. I am not going, if that’s what you’re asking. I’m a busy man,” he stated.

Along with the guest list speculation, fans received a detailed look at the romantic milestone when Kravitz debuted her engagement ring during a casual outing in New York City.

The actress reignited romance rumors after stepping out in New York City sporting a massive diamond ring on her left ring finger back in April.

According to The Blast, jewelry experts evaluated the ring as a high-value piece, estimating its worth at around $1 million. An expert from The Diamond Bank in Los Angeles noted that the piece features a custom-made ten-carat oval diamond set in yellow gold, utilizing a trendy bezel setting.

Complementing their wedding preparations and romantic milestones, close friends of the couple reveal that discussions may have already turned toward starting a family together.

Insiders close to Styles shared that the singer is eager to become a parent in the near future. Reports further indicate that Styles has long held a strong desire for fatherhood, a feeling that intensified after his sister, Gemma, welcomed a daughter in 2024.

Seeing his niece grow reportedly prompted the “Watermelon Sugar” performer to re-evaluate his priorities and look toward settling down.

“He really wants a baby, he’s been telling his friends that,” the source shared, per The Blast

Now deeply smitten with Zoë Kravitz, friends describe his devotion as absolute, with an insider disclosing that he is “completely smitten” with the actress.

The Best K-Beauty Face Masks for Achieving a Glass-Skin Glow

Published

on

GettyImages-510842908 Salmon Sperm Skincare Is Surging. Here Is What Dermatologists Say About PDRN and Glass Skin.

Glass skin isn’t going anywhere. The Korean beauty look, smooth and dewy and so hydrated it appears to reflect light, has become the aesthetic benchmark for anyone chasing a luminous complexion. And K-beauty masks are the fastest way there.

Dermatologists and beauty editors are naming the sheet masks, hydrogel wraps and collagen treatments they trust to deliver that finish. Here is what they recommend right now.

How K-Beauty Masks Deliver That Glass-Skin Glow

Glass skin is a Korean beauty term for skin that looks extremely smooth, clear, hydrated and luminous, almost like glass. The masks built around that goal lean on ingredients like hyaluronic acid, collagen and PDRN, often formulated at ultra-low molecular weights so they can slip past the surface and hydrate deeper layers.

The payoff is a softer, plumper look after a single session, and barrier support with regular use.

Best K-Beauty Masks for Deep Hydration

Ethan Wonuk Hwang, MD, a cosmetic physician at Cheongdam LeBelle Dermatologic Clinic in Seoul, told Glamour that the CosRx 5 PDRN Hyaluronic Acid Vital Hydrating Hydrogel Mask is “a great option for dry or dehydrated skin.”

“The combination of PDRN and hyaluronic acid provides intense hydration while supporting the skin barrier, leaving the skin looking softer and plumper,” Hwang said. “I particularly recommend this type of mask after long flights, during dry weather, or anytime the skin feels dehydrated.”

Sara Han and Christa Joanna Lee, writing for Allure, championed the Biodance Bio-Collagen Real Deep Mask for its overnight staying power. They pointed to its ultra-low molecular weight collagen and oligo hyaluronic acid, which they said “allow for deeper penetration of all that hydrating, plumping goodness.”

K-Beauty Masks That Boost Collagen and Radiance

The Round Lab Camellia Collagen Mask made the cut for Who What Wear. Sabrina Talbert wrote that “the serum contains collagen that boosts elasticity, hydration and overall radiance. And because the mask is so thick, it provides a cooling effect that’s soothing for all skin types.”

Over at Elle, Emma Aerin Becker and Nerisha Penrose highlighted the new PDRN Collagen Gel Mask from Bano, powered by what they described as next-generation B-PDRN. Unlike first-generation PDRN derived from marine life, or second-generation PDRN sourced from plants, this third-generation version is produced in a lab using PDRN extracted from cultured microorganisms. The Elle writers called the mask “ultra-firming, barrier-strengthening, and intensely moisturizing.”

K-Beauty Masks for a Fast Glow Before an Event

Short on time? Olivia Rose Rushing, writing for Coveteur, singled out the Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Jelly Sheet Mask as a 10 to 15 minute answer. Joy-Anna Duggar Has ‘So Much Excitement’ About New Addition

Published

The Duggar Family

Joy-Anna Duggar and her husband Austin Forsyth are sharing some very exciting news about their expanding family.

Joy and Forsyth got married seventeen years ago, when the TV star was 19 and he was 23, and have been together ever since.

The couple has three children: Gideon Martin Forsyth, Evelyn Mae Forsyth, and Gunner James Forsyth. Now, it seems the family may be getting an additional sixth member, and Joy could not be more “excited,” especially after a devastating 2019 loss.

In a new Instagram post, the “19 Kids And Counting” alum shared her happy news with the world.

The post featured four photos in a carousel, with the first showing the happy parents, Joy and Forsyth, standing in a living room. She had on a flowing dress with an obvious baby bump and a huge smile, while her husband wrapped his arms around her from behind, sporting a brown polo shirt and jeans.

The second photo showed the happy couple kissing behind an ultrasound scan report. In the third image, they stood facing each other while Forsyth cupped her pregnant belly in his hands.

The caption read “Coming 2027!!. So much joy, so much excitement, and so much love for this little one already. God knew we needed you.”

Joy-Anna Duggar Reflected On Devastating Pregnancy Loss At 20 Weeks

The announcement comes almost a year after Joy reflected on the stillbirth of her daughter, Annabell Elise, and the emotional toll it had on her.

At the time of the loss, the grieving parents were candid about it, sharing “she will be in our hearts forever.” Then, six years later, the mother-of-three gave new insight on what was really going on, according to The Blast.

“I did have kind of a gut feeling that something may not be right,” Joy shared, adding she did not want to exaggerate, but she left the ultrasound feeling numb.

She recounted that the most difficult part was still going through the whole delivery process at just 20 weeks. She also commended her mother and her strong support system for being there for her during the tough time.

Joy-Anna Duggar Defended The Age Gap Between Her And Husband Austin Forsyth

The Blast reported that Joy also recently addressed another aspect of her personal life, the age gap between her and her husband.

The pair met when she was 4, and he was 8, after his family moved from Texas and visited her family’s church.

However, they did not see each other much until Forsyth got his driver’s license and started playing football and broomball with the boys. By the time she was 14, she was crushing hard.

“I would have married him from day one,” the “Counting On” alum defended. “I don’t think when we were dating and engaged, I thought past ‘we’re going to have a farmhouse, and we’re going to live happily ever after. I didn’t think past, like, ‘I know he’s the one. It’s going to work out.”

Joseph was arrested in March on charges of lewd and lascivious behavior, child welfare endangerment, and false imprisonment, to which he has pleaded not guilty.

Following the incident, The Blast reported on how Joy-Anna had to adjust to a new normal of such heaviness. She shared that she was taking each day as it came, while depending on her faith.

Amid the heinous allegations, Joseph and his wife, Kendra Duggar, face separate charges of four counts each of second-degree endangering the welfare of a minor and four counts each of second-degree false imprisonment.

The couple has, however, been given a 12-month advisement period and may have their charges dropped if they meet the court-set conditions, per The Blast.

You’re Not a True Stephen King Fan Unless You’ve Read These 8 Books

Published

on

Insomnia - 1994 - book cover (1)

The must-read Stephen King books are the sorts you might well even cautiously recommend to friends who don’t particularly like horror or long books. Some of them are just that good that they feel essential in that way. Maybe not IT, which is fairly upsetting at times, but a book like 11/22/63 is about as easy to recommend as a book that’s over 800 pages long can be.

Other classics like The Shining, Carrie, and Salem’s Lot might well be books you wouldn’t be surprised to hear someone say they’ve read, despite not being a full-fledged Stephen King fan (one of his “Constant Readers,” in other words). In the interest of trying to define what makes you a big fan, or a Constant Reader, here’s a collection of Stephen King books that only his most devoted fans can be relied on to have read. You won’t know everything, but if you’ve ticked off a few of his classics and then get familiar with these (and be in a position to understand some of these, it should be stressed), then you’ll probably know a surprisingly large amount about everything King-related.

‘Insomnia’ (1994)

Insomnia - 1994 - book cover (1) Image via Signet Books

Insomnia is stealthily one of the most important books within the whole multiverse that Stephen King has built and/or let grow over the past 50-ish years. It might not hold as many things together as that one series about a tower, but Insomnia is vital to that series, and then there are so many references throughout it to various other Stephen King books, some very obviously, and then some that are more like the book equivalent of a video game easter egg.

As for what Insomnia is about… like, it’s a strange one, and that makes it potentially even more challenging. You need to know quite a lot about some other Stephen King stories to appreciate everything, and then you have to be cool with a very oddly-paced story that has some weird ideas and a page count that reaches nearly 800 all up. It’s about old people and a surreal battle for the fate of the world. And maybe some other worlds. Maybe. It’s pretty wild stuff, and maybe best tackled by Stephen King fanatics… though not after they’ve read the final book in The Dark Tower! Which was published a decade on from Insomnia, and incorporates some characters and ideas introduced in Insomnia. It gets complicated. But that is important.

‘The Eyes of the Dragon’ (1984)

The Eyes of the Dragon - 1984 - book cover Image via Viking Press

There’s a guy called Randall Flagg who shows up in The Eyes of the Dragon, albeit not for the first time, and then he continues making life messy for some other people in some other Stephen King stories post-The Eyes of the Dragon, too. There’s the Crimson King, and maybe he’s more of an overarching bad guy, but Flagg’s the one who makes the most appearances, and if you want to count potential appearances (like if a character has the initials “R.F.”), then he’s almost everywhere.

The Eyes of the Dragon is the most obscure book he’s in, and it’s also a bit of a deep cut more generally speaking, with King, being his attempt at doing “normal” (or at least not dark) fantasy. He does so really well, and the book’s definitely better than some give it credit for. It makes it worth it, being a Stephen King fan, when you can dig into some of his less-popular stuff and then books as good as The Eyes of the Dragon sometimes pop up.

6

‘The Long Walk’ (1979)

The Long Walk - 1979 - book cover (1) Image via Signet Books

There’s a bit more attention on The Long Walk post-2025, since it got a surprisingly good movie adaptation that year. Still, it’s going on here to stand in for all the books that Stephen King wrote under the Richard Bachman pseudonym. If you’re somehow not up to date with that whole saga, then you are missing out on a decent chunk of King’s body of work, since there are seven Bachman books all up, and they tend to foreground science fiction and/or psychological thriller elements over pure/supernatural horror.

If you’ve at least read The Long Walk, and are in the know about the whole Bachman situation, you’re good.

Admittedly, Rage might be more niche, since it’s harder to find after going out of print, and then The Regulators and Blaze might be hard to get into if you’re not already deep into King’s works. But you can be a big fan of the author without wasting time on The Regulators, honestly. If you’ve at least read The Long Walk, and are in the know about the whole Bachman situation, you’re good, and that Bachman-related box is sufficiently ticked on the whole “Am I a real Stephen King fan?” questionnaire.

5

‘Black House’ (2001)

Black House - book cover - 2001 Image via Hodder Paperbacks
Advertisement

Black House is the sequel to The Talisman, with both being novels that King wrote alongside Peter Straub. He passed away in 2022, but there is a third book coming out in late 2026 that will still be credited to him, even if it’s King doing most of the writing and utilizing some material Straub had assembled before he passed. So, that’s another side of Stephen King: his collaborations.

Like with The Long Walk, if you’re aware there are books King’s co-authored, then that counts for something. The Talisman and Black House are definitely the two best, and Black House is the kind of thing you have to be quite invested to tackle, since The Talisman is dense, fairly long, and not for everyone, all the while being essential if you want a shot at (at least mostly) comprehending the rather bizarre Black House. As for the other collaborators, there’s Sleeping Beauties, which Stephen King wrote with his son, Owen King, and the Gwendy Trilogy, with two of those books being written by King and Richard Chizmar (while Chizmar was the sole author of the trilogy’s second installment).

4

‘Everything’s Eventual’ (2002)

Everything's Eventual - 2002 - book cover Image via Scribner
Advertisement

To continue talking about the different “types” of Stephen King books, here’s Everything’s Eventual, which is one of a dozen collections of the author’s that compile short stories and/or novellas. Again, avoiding these would mean missing out on some great stuff. And only reading Different Seasons and not digging further… well, you’d still get some great stuff, but not all the great stuff.

Different Seasons is the collection that feels most essential, and you kind of know it’s going to be good when it contains the novellas that both The Shawshank Redemption and Stand by Me were based on. Everything’s Eventual, though, is a little more niche, but also surprisingly great, being a bit of a deep cut as far as King’s books go. You also have to be invested in a certain series about a dark tower (or something?) to appreciate the novella “The Little Sisters of Eluria” in this collection. And speaking of that series…

3

‘The Dark Tower VII: The Dark Tower’ (2004)

The book in The Dark Tower series people are least likely to read would probably be 2012’s The Wind Through the Keyhole. That one’s not going here because you can be a big Stephen King fan without reading it. That might sound like sacrilege, but it’s not essential, and it’s also not particularly great, with it being one of King’s stories about stories, and the framing device involves the main characters of The Dark Tower (they have some downtime between books #4 and #5, essentially).

So, the most meaningful book in the series that’s technically the hardest to get to is The Dark Tower VII, which concludes the main saga. Some might lose focus along the way, and it’s not the sort of book people will be able to skip to and feel like they might be able to follow. It is so directly linked to what came before, and what came before is quite the journey to get through. You need some dedication, in other words, and The Dark Towereven if it is a great series – probably isn’t the kind of thing you could easily recommend to beginners or more casual Stephen King fans.

2

‘On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft’ (2000)

On Writing_ A Memoir of the Craft - 2000 - book cover (1) Image via Scribner

Another genre or type of book tackled here, On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft is Stephen King’s best work of non-fiction, though it doesn’t have a ton of competition, since he’s written two non-fiction books solo (the other is Danse Macabre) and one as a co-author (Faithful, with Stewart O’Nan). You need a certain attachment to King, and a desire to learn about his life, if you want to tackle a memoir of his.

Then again, there’s some good writing advice here, and On Writing does also have its humorous moments alongside some surprisingly moving ones, so it is a great read even if you’re not the biggest Stephen King fan in the world. It’s probably more the case that more casual fans aren’t going to necessarily stumble onto this one until they’ve read quite a few books of his already. Further, it’s best to avoid On Writing if you really don’t want any Stephen King stories spoiled for you, since he does technically ruin the endings to some books of his while outlining his writing process and how parts of the process related to said books.

1

‘Cycle of the Werewolf’ (1983)

Cycle of the Werewolf - book cover - 1984 - Stephen King Image via Land of Enchantment

Cycle of the Werewolf is the closest Stephen King’s come to making a graphic novel or a picture book, since it is very short and illustrations are a big part of the overall book. It’s not a graphic novel in actuality, but the art is important. There are bits and pieces of artwork in some other Stephen King books, like the entries in The Dark Tower and a little in The Stand, but Cycle of the Werewolf just has a lot of illustrations.

It’s another side of King, and it’s also fairly obscure generally, even if it did get a modestly well-regarded movie adaptation in the form of Silver Bullet… but there’s one of those title changes, so you could be aware of Silver Bullet without really knowing about Cycle of the Werewolf, and they’re somewhat different takes on the same story, too. In any event, read Cycle of the Werewolf! It’s surprisingly good, and it packs a lot into something that might only take you about an hour or so to read.
