Glen Powell and Michelle Randolph Kiss Amid Casual Romance

Published

on

Everything to Know About RHOSLC Alum Jen Shah's Legal Drama

Glen Powell and Landman actress Michelle Randolph’s romance keeps, quite literally, heating up.

Powell, 37, and Randolph, 28, were seen packing on the PDA in New York City, according to photos obtained by online gossip site DeuxMoi on Sunday, June 14. The two actors twinned in white T-shirts as they passionately embraced on a street corner in the Big Apple. Powell also donned a pair of sunglasses as he bent his head to make out with Randolph.

Us Weekly broke the news in December 2025 that Powell and Randolph had started seeing one another.

“They started seeing where things would go around October and have been trying to keep it under the radar for almost two months now,” a source exclusively told Us Weekly at the time, noting that the pair were “having fun” in their casual romance.

While Powell and Randolph have since been spotted together on multiple occasions, the duo have kept quiet about the details of their whirlwind fling.

“I think, for peace of mind, those are really important for me to keep separate,” Randolph told InStyle in a January profile. “How people perceive you publicly is not who you are. It’s hard to not [read the comments] because it’s so in our face, and everyone’s online, so you see things that you don’t necessarily want to, and then it puts you in a bad mood for the rest of the day or hurts your feelings. It’s not smart to let that define you because that’s not real.”

Randolph previously dated Disney Channel alum Gregg Sulkin from 2018 to 2023, later deciding to keep quiet about her love life after watching her sister Cassie Randolph’s experience on The Bachelor unfold. (Cassie, now 30, appeared on Colton Underwood’s season in 2019 and they dated for more than a year before he publicly came out as gay. Cassie and Underwood, now 34, are each married to new partners.)

“I don’t want to share what it is I’ve probably learned,” Michelle told the magazine about Cassie’s reality TV stint. “I don’t think anything good comes from that because it’s your personal life. It should be personal and reserved for yourself and those who are close to you. So, ironically, I think I’ve learned that I want to keep it private.”

Instead of fans hyperfixating on her relationship status, Michelle hopes that her acting work can speak for itself.

“I love my job. I’m well-intentioned,” she stressed at the time. “I just love what I do, and I hope I get to do it forever.”

As for Powell, he has been single since 2023 after ending his three-year relationship with model Gigi Paris.

“I will always have nothing but love for her and respect for her,” the Top Gun: Maverick star told GQ in September 2025 about his breakup. “Everybody’s always going to have their own narrative on things and all that, and she’s welcome to it. Relationships are really hard. And when two people break up, they each go to their own brunch, and they will each tell their own narrative.”

Which Every Year After Stars Are, Aren’t Returning for Season 2?

Published

Every Year After

Every Year After has plans for more seasons — with different leads — but is everyone from the cast coming back for a potential season 2?

Based on Every Summer After by Carley Fortune, Every Year After follows Percy (Sadie Soverall), who grew up vacationing in Barry’s Bay and spending all her time with the Florek brothers: Sam (Matt Cornett) and Charlie (Michael Bradway).

In addition to introducing new characters, Every Year After surprised Us with some massive book shakeups.

“I think there’s less of things changing and more of things just being added. But I think you’re getting the actual bones of the book and the love story. I think all of the themes and the tone are the same,” Aurora Perrineau, who plays Percy’s friend Chantal in the series, exclusively told Us Weekly.

Fans of Off Campus and The Summer I Turned Pretty should be tuning into Prime Video’s Every Year After — but where will they recognize the cast from? The book also wrapped up everyone’s story more while the show focused on introducing Charlie as the next lead.

“I really would love to see a second season of the show. They’re not quite there yet and I think because Sam is still kind of getting his head around what’s happened, that makes a lot of sense,” Fortune told Us of the ending. “I love how the show ends with a very clear set up for bringing One Golden Summer into the second season, which I’m most excited about.”

Scroll down to see who is — and isn’t — expected to return in season 2:

Sadie Soverall

While Soverall is expected to reprise her role as Percy, she would no longer be front and center on the show.

Matt Cornett

The same goes for Cornett, who would be back as Sam but not as the main character.

Michael Bradway

Bradway has been positioned as the season 2 lead after Charlie’s onscreen heart attack. His story was originally explored more in Fortune’s follow-up novel, One Golden Summer.

The Greatest Adventure Movie of the ‘80s Is Officially Taking Over the World

Published

on

01394712_poster_w780.jpg

It’s no secret that Steven Spielberg is a renowned filmmaker. His name is attached to many projects and was nominated for numerous Academy Awards for Best Director or Best Picture. But there was one film where the famous director was not involved, except for story origin credits, that people have been revisiting on streaming services.

Ever since Spielberg began his career in 1959, he has worked on many projects, some of which are still beloved to this day, such as Jurassic Park and the Indiana Jones franchise. Earlier this week, Spielberg released a new film called Disclosure Day, starring Emily Blunt, Josh O’Connor, Colin Firth, Colman Domingo, and Wyatt Russell. Also attached to the project is Jurassic Park writer David Koepp. As Disclosure Day inched closer, fans have been revisiting this nostalgic ’80s classic.

The Goonies was a 1985 adventure comedy film based on a story written by Spielberg and produced by the filmmaker’s production company, Amblin Entertainment, and recently, it found a place on the streaming charts. The Goonies landed at #6 on Pluto TV’s Top Movies in the United States, sitting between Men in Black and Scary Movie. The Goonies follows a group of boys who call themselves “The Goonies” as they come across a map that leads to treasure that belonged to the pirate “One-Eyed Willy.” The boys embark on this adventure in hopes that this hidden fortune could save their homes. Since its release, The Goonies has grossed over $65 million worldwide and has been praised by many, earning a 77% critics’ score and a 90% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.

The Academy Has Decided
Your Perfect Film Is…

Your answers have pointed to one Oscar Best Picture winner above all others. This is the film that was made for the way your mind works.

Parasite

You are drawn to films that operate on multiple levels simultaneously — that begin in one genre and quietly, brilliantly migrate into another. Bong Joon-ho’s Parasite is a film about class, desire, and the architecture of inequality that manages to be darkly funny, deeply suspenseful, and genuinely shocking across a single extraordinary running time. Your instinct is for cinema that hides its true intentions until the moment it’s ready to reveal them. Parasite is exactly that — a film that rewards close attention and punishes assumptions, right up to its devastating final image.

Everything Everywhere All at Once

You want it all — and this film gives you all of it. The Daniels’ Everything Everywhere All at Once is one of the most maximalist films ever made: action comedy, multiverse sci-fi, family drama, existential crisis, and a genuinely earned emotional core that sneaks up on you amid the chaos. You are someone who responds to ambition, who doesn’t want cinema to choose between being entertaining and being meaningful. This film refuses that choice entirely. It is overwhelming by design, and its overwhelming nature is precisely the point — because the feeling of being crushed by infinite possibility is exactly what it’s about.

Oppenheimer

You are drawn to cinema on a grand scale — films that understand history not as a backdrop but as a force, and that place their characters inside that force and watch what happens. Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer is a film about the terrifying gap between what we can do and what we should do, told with the full weight of one of the most consequential moments in human history behind it. You want your films to feel important without feeling self-important — to earn their ambition through sheer craft and the gravity of their subject. Oppenheimer does exactly that. It is enormous, complicated, and refuses easy comfort.

Birdman

You are drawn to films that foreground their own construction — that make the how of the filmmaking part of the what it’s about. Alejandro González Iñárritu’s Birdman, shot to appear as a single continuous take, is cinema examining itself through the cracked mirror of a fading actor’s ego. You respond to formal daring, to the feeling that a film is doing something that probably shouldn’t be possible. Michael Keaton’s performance and Emmanuel Lubezki’s restless camera create something genuinely unlike anything else — a film that is simultaneously about creativity, relevance, self-destruction, and the impossibility of ever truly knowing if your work means anything at all.

No Country for Old Men

You are drawn to cinema that trusts silence, that refuses to explain itself, and that treats dread as a form of meaning. The Coen Brothers’ No Country for Old Men is a film about the arrival of a new kind of evil — implacable, arbitrary, and utterly indifferent to the moral frameworks we use to make sense of the world. It is one of the most formally controlled films ever made, and its controlled restraint is what makes it so terrifying. You want your films to haunt you, not comfort you. You are not interested in resolution if resolution would be dishonest. No Country for Old Men is honest in a way that most cinema never dares to be.

What To Watch If You Like ‘The Goonies’

Years after The Goonies release, there were talks about a possible sequel. In 2024, Spielberg revealed that there were conversations about bringing The Goonies back together, and reports indicated that the project would move forward. However, it’s likely that a Goonies sequel may not see the light of day, so if you’re after something with a similar plot and feel, there are other titles worth watching that bring that child-whimsy feeling to your screens.

The first title that comes to mind is Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, which has been compared to The Goonies for its coming-of-age adventure. The series follows a group of children who accidentally leave their home planet aboard a mysterious starship and become lost. As they search for a way back home, a Force-sensitive user, Jod Na Nawood, played by Jude Law, aids them in their journey as they face pirates, soldiers, and other dangers in a galaxy far, far away.

But if you’re looking for a Spielberg film, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial is well worth watching, or re-watching. Released in 1982 and directed by Spielberg, the film follows 10-year-old Elliott (Henry Thomas), who befriends a stranded alien and helps him find a way home before government agents can take him away.

The Goonies is available to stream on Pluto TV. Follow Collider for more updates.

The Kardashian klan are celebrating Kim’s boyfriend, Lewis Hamilton’s, first Formula 1 victory for Ferrari.

After claiming the win at the Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix in Montmeló on Sunday, June 14, the race car driver’s girlfriend, 45, took to her Instagram Stories to share a photo of her man being cheered on by his team. She stamped her support on the image by pasting a gold trophy emoji next to a red heart emoji.

Over on Khloe Kardashian’s Instagram Stories, Kim’s daughter Chicago West, 8, was seen jumping up and down while squealing in front of the TV screen with her cousin, Khloe’s daughter, True, also 8, as they watched Hamilton, 41, take out the win. Us Weekly confirmed in February that Kim and Hamilton had evolved their long-time friendship into a romance. While sources at the time revealed that the pair had been on “a few dates,” the couple got more serious by the beginning of this month when Kim went Instagram official with Hamilton.

After Hamilton finished second in that race, Formula 1’s official Instagram account shared a video of Kim filming him during his trophy presentation. The clip caught Hamilton appearing to blow Kim a kiss after he received his award.

Every Game of Thrones Show Coming to HBO Max in June 2026

Published

on

house-of-the-dragon-poster.jpg

Though it’s been almost a decade since Game of Thrones wrapped up its phenomenally successful run, the universe it launched has continued, primarily through its acclaimed successor, House of the Dragon. Created by George R. R. Martin and Ryan Condal, the Game of Thrones prequel is the second television series adapted from Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire novels and is based on the fictional history Fire & Blood, beginning a century after the Targaryen conquest unites the Seven Kingdoms, and chronicling the rise and fall of House Targaryen, from its golden age to a catastrophic civil war called the Dance of the Dragons.

Since its premiere in 2022, House of the Dragon has become as popular and acclaimed as its predecessor, sometimes more, and the franchise has recently expanded to include the new series A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. The series has also spawned a podcast that has developed a community of its own, and in June 2026, House of the Dragon will debut new ASL versions of its latest seasons, beginning with Season 2. Read on to discover everything the Game of Thrones universe has in store for fans in June 2026.

‘House Of the Dragon’ Season 2 (ASL Version)

Release Date: June 15, 2026

House of the Dragon opened to great success when it premiered in 2022, often surpassing the initial rankings of its parent show. The Game of Thrones prequel was instantly greenlit for a second season, which premiered in 2024, a third season, premiering in 2026, and an upcoming fourth and final season, arriving sometime in 2028. The second season of House of the Dragon explores the beginning of the Targaryen civil war, aka the Dance of the Dragons, and what it costs the people of Westeros.

In May 2026, as a celebration of Global Awareness Day, HBO Max announced the streaming debut of the House of the Dragon ASL (American Sign Language) version. An ASL version of Season 1 was released soon after, which will be followed by Season 2’s ASL version on June 15, 2026. The ASL dubbing is performed by Sophia Morales and Justin Jackerson, with the latter serving as the Director of ASL across all seasons. The ASL debut of House of the Dragon adds to the streamer’s ASL initiative that began in 2023 with Barbie.

You carry something heavy — and you carry it alone, even when you don’t have to. You were not born for greatness, and that is precisely why greatness chose you. Your courage is not the roaring, sword-swinging kind; it is quiet, stubborn, and terrifying in its refusal to quit. The Ring weighs on you more than anyone can see, and still you walk toward the fire. That is not weakness. That is the rarest kind of strength there is.

You are, without question, the best of them. Not the most powerful, not the most celebrated — but the most essential. Your loyalty is not a trait; it is a force of nature. You would carry the person you love up the slopes of Mount Doom if it came to that, and we both know you’d do it without being asked. The world needs more people like you, and the world is lucky it has even one.

You were born to lead, and you have spent years running from it. The crown is yours by right, but you know better than anyone that right means nothing without the will and the worthiness to back it up. You are tempered by loss, shaped by long roads, and defined by a code of honour you hold to even when no one is watching. When you finally step forward, the world shifts. Because it was always waiting for you.

You have seen more than you let on, and you say less than you know — which is exactly as it should be. You are a catalyst: you do not fight the battles yourself, you ignite the people who can. Your wisdom comes not from books but from an age of watching what happens when it is ignored. You arrive precisely when you mean to, and your presence alone changes what is possible. A wizard is never late.

Graceful, perceptive, and almost preternaturally calm under pressure — you see things others miss and act before others react. You do not need to make a scene to be remarkable; your presence speaks for itself. You are loyal to those you choose to stand beside, and that choice is not made lightly. You have lived long enough to know that the most beautiful things in this world are also the most fragile, and that is why you fight to protect them.

You are loud, proud, and absolutely formidable — and beneath all of that is one of the most fiercely loyal hearts in Middle-earth. You don’t do anything by half measures. Your friendships are forged like iron, your grudges run as deep as mines, and your courage in battle is the kind that makes legends. You came into this fellowship suspicious of everyone and ended it willing to die for an elf. That is not a small thing. That is everything.

You think in centuries and act in absolutes. Order, dominion, control — not because you are cruel by nature, but because you have decided that the world left to itself always falls apart, and you are the only one with the vision and the will to hold it together. You were not always this. Something was lost, or taken, or betrayed, and the version of you that stands now is the answer to that wound. The tragedy is that you’re not entirely wrong — just entirely too far gone to course-correct.

You are a study in contradiction — pitiable and dangerous, cunning and broken, capable of both cruelty and something that once resembled love. You are defined by loss: of innocence, of self, of the one thing that gave your existence meaning. Two voices war inside you constantly, and the tragedy is that the better one sometimes wins, just not often enough, and never at the right moment. You are a warning, yes — but also a mirror. We are all a little Gollum, given the right ring and enough time.

‘House of the Dragon’ Season 3 (with ASL Version)

Release Date: June 21, 2026

Following the success, acclaim, and popularity of the first two seasons, HBO’s House of the Dragon is all set to debut its third season this June, with greater accessibility. The prequel’s new season explores the next chapter of the brutal war of succession, featuring dragon battles and relentless bloodbaths. Matt Smith, Emma D’Arcy, Olivia Cooke, Steve Toussaint, Rhys Ifans, Fabien Frankel, and Sonoya Mizuno reprise their main roles from the last two seasons.

House of the Dragon Season 3 is expected to feature one of the biggest battles in the Game of Thrones franchise — the Battle of Gullet, a naval conflict — followed by more explosive consequences that collectively shape the Targaryen civil war. The season will premiere on Sunday, June 21, 2026, accompanied by an ASL version, becoming the first season of the hit show to have ASL episodes running concurrently. And even after the eight-episode third season, fans still have plenty to look forward to, like the show’s fourth and final season, expected to debut in 2028, and new seasons of the franchise’s latest hit, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. The entire Game of Thrones universe, including all seasons of Game of Thrones, House of the Dragon, and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, is currently streaming on HBO Max.

Hollywood stars, influencers and musicians are reacting to the tragic and untimely death of singer Oliver Tree.

On the morning of June 14, two helicopters reportedly crashed into one another mid-air while traveling in southwest Rio De Janeiro, according to a same-day report from CNN Brazil. According to the outlet, Tree was one of six people who died in the crash — all five traveling in one helicopter, and the solo-traveling and pilot in the second helicopter. He was 32.

Additional information surrounding the fatal crash was not made public at the time of publication. Us Weekly reached out to a representative for Tree for comment but did not hear back.

Tree, known for songs “Life Goes On” and “Miss You” and amassing more than 2 million social media followers, recently traveled to Brazil for his world tour. He performed in São Paulo on June 6 and was scheduled to play a set in Lisbon, Portugal, on July 13.

In the wake of his untimely death, Hollywood took to social media to pay its respects. Read how stars and influencers reacted and their touching tributes below:

Bebe Rexha

“I’m in shock,” she wrote via X. “I was in the middle of my cd signing in nyc when I found the news of Oliver tree. I can’t believe it. We recorded a record together to be on dirty blonde. He was so smart. Passionate. Talented. Kind. I’m so sad. May he rest in peace.”

Whitney Cummings

“Oliver is one of the most talented people on earth and usually that comes with an ego and all kinds of dickhead nonsense, but Oliver is pure love and the best version of what an artist can and should be,” the comedian shared via Instagram alongside photos of the pair smiling for the camera. “There’s no silver lining. We lost a giant.”

“What an honor it was to get to know you, Oliver,” the podcaster and influencer wrote via Instagram shortly after the singer’s death. “I’m so sad to hear this news. The world is so cruel. Rest in peace.”

Ethan Klein

“I’m in disbelief… still desperate to think this is part of an elaborate prank. That seems like something he’d do, right? The truth is, no matter how desperate I am to not believe it, my friend Oliver has passed away,” the YouTuber wrote in a lengthy and emotional post shared via X. “Oliver was such a unique soul, he had an ability that was e I know; to make friends in all corners of the world. Sincere friendship too, not just internet friendships of convenience.”

She continued, “He was one of the funniest people I’ve ever known. His style of self-deprecation was universal. Every media appearance he’s ever done was hilarious, refreshing and unique in a way that only he could bring. He was a true artist, in every sense of the world.”

Netflix Has a 100% Rotten Tomatoes Horror Movie That’s a Masterclass in Psychological Warfare

Published

on

The-22-Best-Movies-About-Missing-Persons,-Ranked

The horror genre is having quite the moment, as evident with the massive success of Backrooms and Obsession. But if you don’t feel like venturing to the theater, Netflix has plenty of options to choose from. To finally come across Luis Javier Henaine’s Disappear Completely, one has to dig deep — almost as deep as the movie’s main character in his search for a cure to the curse that threatens to turn him into a kind of living corpse, a karmic punishment for his own misdeeds as a photojournalist specialized in crime scenes.

Disappear Completely premiered in 2022 at Austin’s Fantastic Fest, and landed on Netflix in April 2024. While it made its way to the streamer’s Top 10 in its native Mexico, it has struggled to find an audience in other countries where it is readily available. Henaine’s film has a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and it is indeed a gem that deserves to be seen.

What Is ‘Disappear Completely’ About?

The film, which relies more on psychological horror than on traditional jumpscares, is a character study surrounding a man’s relationship with his profession and his family. The premise is creative and terrifying from the get-go: Santiago (Harold Torres), a photojournalist who sells pictures of crimes and accidents to tabloids, falls victim to a curse after shooting a particularly gruesome scene featuring a still living, but completely unresponsive politician partly devoured by rats. Unbeknownst to him, Santiago’s camera has captured the presence of a demonic entity that traps him in the same web as the senator (Juan Sahagun) he just photographed. Little by little, Santiago starts to lose all of his five senses.

The-22-Best-Movies-About-Missing-Persons,-Ranked

The 25 Best Movies About Missing Persons, Ranked

These crime thrillers go above and beyond to tell their story.

As Santiago races against time to find a cure for his predicament, going from doctors to shamans to the very demon that has hexed him, his girlfriend, Marce (Tete Espinoza), faces troubles of her own. Pregnant with Santiago’s child, she wishes to have the baby and build a happy family. However, Santiago claims that they are not ready to have a child, and pressures her to have an abortion. This relationship with Marce and his unborn baby ends up being essential to how Santiago deals with his curse.

Mixing an urban vibe with folk horror, Disappear Completely is a movie that dabbles in witchcraft, superstition, and politics, with the cursed senator having been victimized by a political rival. However, the focus of the plot is Santiago himself. The movie asks us to place ourselves in his shoes, forcing us to wonder what it would feel like to be in such a terrifying predicament. The final scenes make this invitation to identify with the main character all the more obvious: as Santiago is losing his sense of hearing, we can barely understand the sounds around him. Eventually, in the blink of an eye, the whole movie goes quiet. As he loses his sight, the image becomes blurry, until it… disappears completely.

‘Disappear Completely’s Director Was Intentional About Creating a Personal Film

Image via Mantícora Distribución

Director Luis Javier Henaine was intentional in creating an immersive, realistic experience for the audience while filming Disappear Completely, as he shared during an interview with Eye For Film. Rather than relying on jump scares or musical cues, he aimed to “make a more personal film with more down to earth issues,” while still balancing the element of witchcraft and folk horror. He said:

“Here in Mexico, witchcraft is something that people take very seriously and something very, very real for the majority of our population. And I like to reflect that in a way. So, all the time, I was trying to say, ‘Okay, this has to look real, this has to feel real, this has to be very realistic.’ And that’s how I tried to go throughout the whole film, with the production design and with the cinematography and with everything. Our references were real things, how people behave in these environments. . . ”

Placing the audience in Santiago’s shoes is one of the reasons Disappear Completely is so unnerving — it feels personal. At the heart of the film is Santiago’s struggles with being a potential father and a supportive partner for Marce. When reading the script, Henaine envisioned “a very immersive filmmaking style,” one that would make the audience active participants rather than passive observers of Santiago’s slow descent into a tomb of his own flesh. “I thought it would be great to just when, when he starts losing his sense of hearing, just play slowly with the whole film as well, make it subjective, put the audience in the character’s mind,” Henaine explained.

‘Disappear Completely’ Presents Photography as the Ultimate Horror

Disappear Completely presents us with a kind of horror that would be disturbing no matter who it befell. Still, when we take into consideration Santiago’s profession, the film gains additional layers. At the same time that Henaine and his fellow screenwriter Ricardo Aguado-Fentanes ask us to identify with Santiago in his plight, they also make it pretty clear that he is someone we should despise. Santiago is not a tabloid photographer because that’s the only job he can find — he seems to enjoy taking pictures of mangled bodies and even attempts to make it into a form of high art. The movie shows us that he has fun creating tasteless titles for the stories that will accompany his pictures, and right in the beginning we learn that he is trying to sell some of his photos to art galleries. This is, in itself, terrifying: in a way, the biggest horror in Disappear Completely is becoming the subject of one of Santiago’s photographs.

When he is cursed, Santiago is doomed to become one of his own photographs. His fate is, in a way, an ironic punishment: he has condemned so many dead people to a living death that he will, himself, become a tomb in the cemetery that is the entire world. Disappear Completely is definitely a movie with something to say, and it turns its eyes specifically to the art of creating images. To an extent, it is even fitting to watch Santiago’s downfall happen in a movie instead of, say, reading about it in a book, for the image is essential for us to understand what is happening to him. As we gaze at Santiago, we wonder if what is happening to him might one day happen to us as well. After all, in the age of smartphones and social media platforms where privacy goes to die, haven’t we all produced our own fair share of images that trap people in a single, unchangeable moment?

Laverne Cox Says Athletes, Rappers Hit On Her But ‘Never’ Date

Published

on

GettyImages-2269586531lavernecoxexclusive.jpg

Laverne Cox is opening up about the “blessings” that come with being a trans woman — including the way it can protect a person from narcissistic men.

“Being trans has really helped me with the Hollywood thing and not getting too full of myself,” Cox, 54, exclusively told Us Weekly while promoting her new memoir Transcendent, out now. “It really, it really checks you. Because even I just think about all the women colleagues of mine, in my age range or whatever, like — all the, like, famous athletes, rappers [and] actors who kind of hit on me but, like, would never date me publicly because I’m trans.”

Cox went on to add, “My transness has protected me from a lot of things that a lot of other women experience in Hollywood that aren’t good things — like a lot of narcissistic men. Rejection is really God’s protection.”

Cox, who opens up about her traumatic childhood and how she has found healing and safety as a Black trans woman in Hollywood, says a vital part of her journey has been learning how to set healthy boundaries with and at times avoid or cut loose potentially toxic people — including men — in her life.

“Loving myself is about going to the doctor, eating, getting enough sleep, but also the people, places and things,” she explained to Us. “Who am I surrounding myself with? Do I have people in my life who suck me dry, who make me feel bad about myself, who trigger my patterns and, if these people aren’t serving me, I need to let go of those people.”

She continued, “A lot of it’s been about letting go of certain kinds of people that just are toxic and bring up old traumas, or they don’t have healthy boundaries.”

In her memoir and a Wednesday, June 10, interview with The New York Times “Modern Love” podcast, Cox opened up about the pain of letting go of someone she came to realize did not serve her — her boyfriend of almost four years who, she discovered, was a NYPD officer who voted for President Donald Trump three times.

“I was in sheer bliss with this man and you know, things would come up and we would agree to disagree about some political things,” Cox said on Wednesday. “Problematic but not, like, offensive. He had been, the way he grew up and algorithms he was given, information he was consuming that he had been propagandized to. So I tried to give him grace there.”

While speaking exclusively to Us, Cox — who came out as a trans woman in 1999 while attending college in New York City — explained that there was a certain moment in her relationship with the officer that she realized there is a “soul connection” that transcends politics. At the same time, she realized that a person’s politics matter — particularly when the policies they support or defend harm the most marginalized of communities.

Laverne Cox Leaving E Carpet

Laverne Cox is stepping away from E!’s red carpet coverage ahead of the 2025 Golden Globes. “With an incredible amount of gratitude, I’ve decided not to return as host of #LiveFromE’s red carpet coverage,” Cox, 52, wrote via Instagram on Thursday, January 2. “I’m so incredibly proud of the work we did over my three-year […]

“I do believe that there is, like, a spiritual realm connection that we have that’s beyond politics and in history, but those things are material reality, right?” she told Us. “Like, they inform who we are. I wasn’t able to build in a relationship and build a life with him because of his politics, but that doesn’t negate the soul connection, right?”

She continued, “Those two things are different — things that are social constructs, like me being a Black trans woman is only really relevant because of discrimination that Black trans people experience. Wouldn’t it be lovely if we could live in a colorblind, genderless world? But we can’t because of oppression.”
