During the conversation with Chella H, Trina also weighed in on the controversy surrounding Yung Miami’s hit song, ‘Spend Dat.’ Although she never mentioned anyone by name, Trina said she doesn’t understand why people keep criticizing Miami for simply making music. She also said she thinks speaking on whether ‘Spend Dat’ deserves Grammy recognition is going too far.

“Who are you to say she shouldn’t receive a Grammy. You’re not God. It doesn’t matter if you don’t like it. Keep your opinion, that’s fine.” Trina added, “But then these are the same people that are so Godly and so for the rights. If you are so right then you don’t even have the time to be distracted by that. If your so right this isn’t even in your ears. She’s just making music, that’s the only thing she’s doing nothing else.”

Conversations about Yung Miami and ‘Spend Dat’ have kept social media buzzing all summer, but Nicci Gilbert took the debate to another level when she shared her thoughts on the record. Shortly after Yung Miami appeared at the BET Awards in June, Nicci hopped on Instagram and weighed in on the song’s influence. She told her followers that real creators deserve real recognition and explained that while she doesn’t believe ‘Spend Dat’ will push people to boost or scam, those issues continue to plague the culture. “The Bachelor” stars Catherine Giudici and Sean Lowe are navigating a frightening “new normal” after their eight-year-old son, Isaiah Hendrix, was hospitalized and diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. Giudici revealed that Isaiah spent four days in Children’s Hospital after his pediatrician noticed concerning symptoms during an annual appointment. Although the family faced tears, pain, and confusion, the mother of three said her “tough boy” maintained his playful personality through countless injections and an overwhelming lifestyle change.

Giudici shared the difficult update in a lengthy Instagram post on Tuesday. “This past week has been a rough one for the Lowes,” the 40-year-old reality star began. “Our precious boy Isaiah was admitted to Children’s Hospital and diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. Our wonderful pediatrician noticed some symptoms at our annual appointment that stuck out to her.”

According to Giudici, Isaiah had lost a significant amount of weight since his previous visit. He had also been drinking and urinating frequently, which prompted the pediatrician to investigate further. The child had lost 11 pounds despite otherwise appearing healthy and remaining active. The unexpected findings quickly transformed a routine appointment into a four-day hospital stay for Isaiah and his family.

Giudici expressed gratitude for the medical professionals who helped the family understand Isaiah’s diagnosis. “Thankful for the nurses, doctors and staff who gave us a 4-year college education on his condition in 4 days,” she wrote.

The four-day hospitalization required Isaiah to remain away from his home, siblings, and usual routine while his parents learned how to manage his condition. Although the experience was emotionally and physically difficult, she said Isaiah continued showing the fun-loving personality his family knows.

By refusing to repeat himself and always maintaining his unique filmmaking style, he’s created a broad body of work that includes noir mysteries, superhero blockbusters, science fiction, historical drama, and, with the release of The Odyssey, a mythological epic. However, within the seemingly-disparate 13 movies Nolan has directed, a remarkably consistent set of ideas stick out. Nolan’s fascinations with time, identity, obsession, guilt, and sacrifice appear across nearly all his movies: Interstellar focuses on the long journey home and the emotional cost of absence; The Prestige centers on obsession; The Dark Knight trilogy examines what it means to be a hero.

That’s why his adaptation of The Odyssey doesn’t feel like the unexpected career choice some thought it was when the film was first announced. Previously, Nolan has made a point to present a certain realism in his movies, with even more fantastical works like Inception and Tenet feeling conceptually grounded in reality.

However, despite his general aversion to the fantastical elements of filmmaking, he embraces them with The Odyssey — and rather that serving as a rejection of his previous work, this decision builds on every movie he’s made before. It’s the themes that he infuses into the movie that has already led to its massive success, both financially and critically, despite a campaign mounted against the film deriding it as “woke,” with many believing it was doomed to fail. Even though the noise outside was loud, Nolan was determined to make the movie he envisioned, by infusing it with what he’s learned along the way.

Nolan’s career has largely been defined by stories about people who find themselves in circumstances with the potential to unravel their lives, and whose defining strengths threaten to become their greatest weaknesses. J. Robert Oppenheimer’s pride and pursuit of knowledge becomes his curse, a creation that could bring about humanity’s end in the wrong hands. Bruce Wayne’s desire to protect others threatens to destroy the life that he knows while he fights crime as Batman. Inception‘s Dom Cobb grapples with his past and his PTSD, while it causes him to spiral downwards.

Odysseus, portrayed in The Odyssey by Matt Damon, is far from an ordinary person; he’s a Greek general who has found himself far from home, stuck in what seems like an endless cycle of physical and mental challenges on his quest to get home to his wife Penelope (Anne Hathaway) and son Telemachus (Tom Holland). Odysseus very much feels like an amalgamation of characters like Oppenheimer, Bruce Wayne, and Cobb, among many others of Nolan’s protagonists. Nolan’s version differs from Homer’s original character in a number of ways, with Damon’s performance feeling more like an original character from the director and less like a Greek hero. It works here because Nolan knows what works for him, how to get the best out of the actors in the moment, and what to keep in place to allow the characters feel real — and his filmography shows us that.

Odysseus and his men are no saints; they burned an entire city, butchering its population, and thus offended the Gods and were punished for their wickedness. While we as an audience have not committed the sins they have, we know what it feels like to feel guilt and chastise ourselves for it. In a world filled with gods, monsters, witches, and an underworld designed to torment the living, his characters still manage to feel grounded, so that you can identify with them.

‘The Odyssey’ Embraces the Blockbuster Spectacle Christopher Nolan is Known For

While The Odyssey works fantastically as a character piece, examining desire, trauma, desperation, and longing, Nolan doesn’t shy away from what he’s known for: spectacle. The fall of Troy unfolds almost like a horror scene, as the Greek army gleefully massacres the Trojan population, military and civilian alike. Despite the ghastly violence on screen, Nolan knows how to film it to enrapture the viewer. You feel every arrow shot, every explosion. These are all methods he utilized in films like Dunkirk and Interstellar, which keep the audience focused on the screen and let the visuals tell a story.

In scenes following Odysseus’ crew’s encounter with the Cyclops, the battle against Scylla and Charybdis, and trying to survive a fight with the giant Laestrygonians, The Odyssey never feels small. It’s loud, it’s violent, and it’s full of dread, all qualities that you can find in almost any Nolan film. That said, even with the blockbuster angle, some of the film’s biggest moments come at the smallest of times. Odysseus’ conversations with crew mates, Penelope, Telemachus, and Eumaeus, his loyal servant played by John Leguizamo, are among the movie’s most pivotal.

It’s this delicate balancing act that Nolan has perfected in the past, where he delivers action that can keep you visually engrossed — but those moments have no weight if the audience loses sight of Odysseus’ desire to return home. Nolan continues to show that he can make spectacle serve the character instead of merely overshadowing it.

Looking across Christopher Nolan’s career, The Odyssey doesn’t feel like a dramatic change in direction. Rather, it is the culmination of everything he has worked toward so far. His mastery of non-linear storytelling, complex heroes, blockbuster action, and immersive world-building are all perfectly suited for this project. For the first time, it doesn’t feel like he’s taking on another ambitious challenge. Rather, it feels like the movie he’s been waiting for his entire career.

Roommates, United Cajun Navy vice president Brian Trascher is opening up about his role in the search for Nolan Xavier Wells on July 6. Trasher joined the aircraft search team and snapped wide-angle photos of the law-enforcement response from about 400 feet above ground. United Cajun Navy VP Shares Details From The Search For Nolan Wells & The Photos He Captured

Recently, Cajun Navy Vice President Brian Trascher spoke exclusively with TMZ about the day Nolan Wells’ body was discovered. Trascher said he captured images of the scene during the search, and after zooming in on the photos, he noticed a body that fit the description of Nolan Wells. He explained that he never intended to photograph the body, but the images captured it during the search. Brian also said the photos show “a body laying faced down at the shoreline right at the water’s edge wearing swim trunks.” He added that some images are difficult to look at and hopes Nolan’s family never has to see them, but he said the United Cajun Navy will provide anything that Nolan’s parents request. “We will give them whatever they want, anytime they want, all they have to do is ask,” Trascher said.

Brian also explained why he and his team decided not to share details from the day they found Nolan with his parents right away. He said he didn’t want to add to the emotional pain Nolan’s parents were already experiencing after learning about his death. Trascher added that he believed Nolan’s mother would likely ask him to explain what he saw, and he felt those details could have made an already difficult moment even harder. “I just didn’t think it would be helpful to his mom as she was just finding out that her son was dead.” 

Furthermore, Trascher made it clear that he was never trying to hide anything. He said plenty of law enforcement officials were near Nolan’s body and could have also provided details from the scene. He added that he later learned that Nolan’s parents did not get access to view his body, which was something he didn’t know at the time. Trascher explained that if he had known, he would have shared information that could’ve helped Wells’ family get more clarity.

Attorney Ben Crump Shares Preliminary Findings From Nolan’s Independent Autopsy

Brian Trascher’s remarks come shortly after Attorney Ben Crump provided an update on Nolan Xavier Wells’ independent autopsy. On Wednesday, July 22, Crump addressed the findings during a press conference at the 117th NAACP National Convention. He explained that Dr. Roger Mitchell, a pathologist and current president of the National Medical Association, performed the independent autopsy and shared the preliminary observations.

According to Crump, the autopsy listed Nolan Wells’ cause and manner of death as “undetermined pending investigation.” He also revealed that the preliminary examination found a 12×8-inch area of “soft tissue” with red discoloration on the back of Wells’ head. Attorney Crump further stated that doctors could not examine certain internal neck structures because they did not receive the trachea and other neck tissues with Wells’ body for the second autopsy. Crump added that Dr. Mitchell wants to receive the missing tissue so he can conduct a more thorough review and reach a clearer conclusion.

“It is assumed that the initial pathologists retained these structures for additional evaluation. The retention […] is common […] He doesn’t know why they held the throat back, but he says the throat was not with the body of Nolan Wells when he received it in Washington DC to perform the second autopsy of the body,” Crump explained,

Amanda Seales Clears The Air About Her Absence From The ‘Insecure’ Anniversary Tour

Recently, Amanda Seales hopped on Instagram to address fans’ questions about why she wasn’t included in the ‘Insecure’ anniversary tour. ICYMI, Issa Rae announced that the cast will reunite in September to celebrate 10 years of the series. The tour lineup includes Yvonne Orji, Jay Ellis, Natasha Rothwell, and series producer Prentice Penny.

After fans noticed that Amanda wasn’t on the flyer or in the reunion video, she decided to clear the air on Instagram.  Amanda admitted she first felt like fans were taking the conversation too far, but after reflecting, she said she understood. She explained that “characters are meant as proof of life” and said fans naturally want to see characters they connected with. Amanda added that while some viewers didn’t connect with her character Tiffany Dubois, other women and mothers have thanked for portraying the reality of postpartum depression.

Fans Share Their Disappointment Over Amanda Missing The Tour

Once Amanda shared her thoughts on not joining the ‘Insecure’ tour, fans flooded her comment section with reactions. Plenty of folks sided with her and said they would’ve loved to see her reunite with the cast.

Where Does Amanda Seales & Issa Raae Stand Now?

Although fans were surprised by Amanda Seales’ absence from the anniversary tour, she previously opened up about where she and Issae Rae stand. During a 2024 interview with Shannon Sharpe, Amanda said she never publicly addressed her relationship with Issa or the narratives surrounding their status because she wanted to protect her. However, she explained that she eventually realized there were moments when she needed Issa to protect her, but never felt she received that.

“I think people are going to show up for me the way I show up for them. And now it’s a point where my protecting of Issa has become turned onto me and something people are using against me. There’s a whole narrative that is completely false,” Amanda explained.

Issa Rae later appeared to respond to Amanda’s comment during a Viaraae event for her sparkling wine brand. When asked who she would never work with again, Issa said, “I mean anyone who goes on a podcast and talks s**t about me!”
