For most streamers, fall is the season to debut Oscar-bait movies like Netflix’s history-making La Bola Negra with Penélope Cruz or Emmy-worthy shows like Hulu‘s Phony with Connie Britton.

But Acorn TV isn’t like any other streamer out there, and the British-based subscription service is celebrating spooky season with a touch of class … and lots of murder.

Us Weekly can exclusively reveal that on Thursday, October 1, Acorn TV will bring back “An Autumn to Die For,” a monthlong programming event that celebrates everything the streamer specializes in: binge-worthy murder mysteries with clever detectives and crafty criminals, true crime stories that will keep you up at night and character-driven series that bring all the drama and romance you’ll need in life.

So what can you expect to see in this year’s edition of “An Autumn to Die For”? Below is a guide to all the new shows that are set to debut in October.

‘Signora Volpe’ Season 3

Premieres Monday, October 5; Episodes premiere weekly until the season finale on October 19.

Former British spy Sylvia Fox (Emilia Fox) has mentally and physically recovered from her abduction at the end of Season 2 and is back to enjoying her life in Italy. But she’s still waiting for answers from her ex-husband, Adam Haines, about his past dealings with her kidnapper. Season 3 sees Sylvia investigating the murder of the owner of a local winery, and probing the mystery of a beautiful young man found dead in the bed of a power couple who claim never to have seen him before. Meanwhile, Sylvia’s relationship with Carabinieri captain Giovanni Riva deepens, but the finalization of Riva’s divorce and his desire to set down roots in Umbria threatens Sylvia’s sense of independence.

‘The Assassin’

The Assassin‘s season finale drops on October 5.

From Harry and Jack Williams comes a new thriller starring Keeley Hawes as a retired hitwoman living on a remote Greek island. When her estranged son Edward (Freddie Highmore) arrives seeking answers about his past, Julie’s violent history resurfaces, forcing them to flee together across Europe. As they uncover a dark conspiracy, their fractured relationship is tested by secrets, betrayal and a threat that could destroy them both.

‘This is Not a Murder Mystery’ Season 1

New series premieres Monday, October 12; Episodes premiere weekly until the season finale on November 16.

Set in England during the 1930s, world-renowned Surrealist artists, including young Dalí and Magritte, find themselves trapped in a lavish mansion with a mysterious serial killer on the loose and Scotland Yard on the case. But is everything what it seems? Starring Stephen Tompkinson, Pierre Gervais, Lauren Versnick, Jonathan Delaney Tynan, Florence Hall, Iñaki Mur and Donna Banya.

‘Blue Murder Motel’ Season 1

Season finale drops on October 12.

Married couple Vanessa (Michala Banas) and Peter Coleman (Brett Tucker) leave their cop careers behind to run a motel in a sunny beachside New Zealand town, believing their hardest days are behind them. But plans soon collapse when a dead body is discovered in Unit 3, just one week after opening. The retired detectives’ instincts resurface as they are drawn back into investigation mode. And the town’s friendly charm begins to crack, revealing hidden secrets and unresolved grudges.

‘The Red King’

Series premieres Monday, October 19; Episodes premiere weekly until the season finale on November 23.

After reporting a fellow officer for assaulting a suspect, by-the-book police sergeant Grace (Anjli Mohindra) is ‘reassigned’ to an isolated island in this folk thriller created by Toby Whithouse(Being Human). But what begins as a punishment quickly turns into something far more sinister. A year after a teenage boy vanished without a trace, Grace reopens the cold case – only for his remains to surface in a place no one expected. As she digs deeper, the island’s eerie past begins to unravel: whispers of a secretive religious sect founded by an enigmatic leader, strange rituals and a string of unexplained deaths. The series also stars James Bamford, Mark Lewis Jones, Marc Warren and Adjoa Andoh.

‘Wolf’

Premieres Monday, October 26.

Based on Mo Hayder’s acclaimed Jack Caffery novels, the series follows DI Jack Caffery (Ukweli Roach), a young detective plagued by nightmares and obsessed with the neighbor he believes murdered his 10-year-old brother in the ’90s. Jack finds himself trying to right the wrongs of others – but at what cost? Meanwhile, in an isolated house in Monmouthshire, the wealthy Anchor-Ferrers family find themselves the victims of a psychopath’s cruel games, trapped and terrorized. When the two narratives collide, it’s a thrilling, nail-biting and deeply disturbing race against time. Also starring Sacha Dhawan, Iwan Rheon and Sian Reese-Williams.

‘The A-Z Killer’

Premieres Monday, October 5

In 1992, Rachel Nickell was murdered on Wimbledon Common, triggering one of the UK’s biggest investigations. A wrongful arrest derailed the case while the real killer, Robert Napper, continued undetected. Decades later, the closest to the investigation reveals how crucial clues were missed and how advancing forensics finally exposed the real killer.

‘The Flight Attendant Murders’

Premieres Monday, October 12.

This captivating true crime series unravels the chilling chronicles of four flight attendants brutally murdered in Texas during the 1970s and 1980s, investigating whether the wrong man was put behind bars and if the victims’ families will ever get justice. Expert investigators and legal minds pore over evidence and reconstruct timelines as modern DNA and policing techniques come into play, seeking the truth behind each woman’s fate.

‘The Hunt for the Chameleon Killer’

History is full of remarkable duos that, through their partnerships, ingenuity, and perseverance, changed the course of the world or accomplished the seemingly impossible. From the Wright Brothers, who famously broke ground in the art of aviation through their creation of the first successful airplane, to Marie and Pierre Curie, who discovered the elements radium and polonium and earned Nobel Prizes for their research into radioactivity, these pairs pushed each other to greater heights and carved a spot for themselves in the annals of time in the process. However, one particular pair of groundbreakers has often been misrepresented.

In 1953, Tenzing Norgay and Edmund Hillary became the first two human beings to reach the summit of Mount Everest as part of a British expedition led by Colonel John Hunt. It was the culmination of years of attempts to conquer the highest mountain above sea level on Earth and the result of seven weeks of grueling climbing by the entire team. Yet, while the two men shared the moment, Hillary got most of the credit in the end for doing something Norgay had nearly done six times before finally accomplishing his dream. Apple TV‘s new biopic Tenzing now aims to set the record straight with a cinematically breathtaking and emotional recreation of Norgay’s journey from wide-eyed kid to Sherpa climbing guide and, ultimately, one of the most accomplished mountaineers on the planet alongside Hillary.

As part of Collider’s Exclusive Fall Preview series, we’re thrilled to share a new image from Tenzing that highlights the friendship between its main duo. Tibetan actor Genden Phuntsok plays the titular Norgay opposite Emmy nominee and MCU star Tom Hiddleston as Hillary, and they’re shown smiling at each other in a way that reflects their deep respect while climbing Everest. The two found common ground as outsiders among the British expedition, with the Nepalese-Indian Sherpa having to fight for a spot as a full climber on Hunt’s team and Hillary facing discrimination as a New Zealander. They saw in each other not just remarkable mountaineering skills that rivaled or surpassed anyone on the team, but trust that would prove valuable on a dangerous climb and a relatable drive born from Norgay’s dream to meet the mountain his people revere as Chomolungma and find emotional closure and Hillary’s desire to complete what his heroes never could.

‘Tenzing’ Takes an Emotional Approach to the Ascent of Mount Everest

While most of Tenzing unfolds over the course of the journey up Everest, it also flashes between Norgay’s childhood, where he became interested in climbing and came to appreciate “Chomolungma” as the mother goddess, and his early adult years as he met, fell in love with, and built a life with his wife, Dawa (Thinley Lhamo), who encouraged his pursuit of reaching the mountain’s peak until her untimely death. Those memories add emotional weight to an ascent already defined by competing ambitions and tensions between classes, backgrounds, and cultures. Tenzing and the Sherpas he helps assemble find themselves at odds with the other expeditioners who see the mountain as something to be conquered rather than respected and are driven by a national pride to ensure that a Briton is the first to stand at the summit. When push comes to shove and the final “assault” begins, though, aspirations melt away, and respect is forged between two climbers who feel called to the top of the mountain.

Phuntsok, Hiddleston, and Lhamo are only part of the biopic’s star power. Willem Dafoe also appears as Colonel Hunt alongside Outlander‘s Caitríona Balfe as Jill Henderson, the expedition secretary who fought for Norgay’s spot on the British climbing team. In a reunion with his Shambhala co-star Lhamo, Tenzin Dalha also stars as a younger Norgay. Documentary director Jennifer Peedom helmed the film, letting her work with Dafoe on-screen after previously tapping him as the narrator on her other projects like River and Mountain. She also helped develop the story with screenwriter Luke Davies, who previously co-wrote Garth Davis‘ 2016 biopic Lion.

Music legend and beloved “American Idol” judge Lionel Richie has been hospitalized again after suffering a heart issue. Notably, this follows the 77-year-old spending three days in the ICU near the end of August. Sadly, this also means that the “Hello” singer has been forced to cancel multiple upcoming tour dates.

Lionel Richie Is Said To Be Receiving Treatment For A Heart Condition

According to TMZ, the “All Night Long (All Night)” singer has checked himself into the hospital again due to a heart condition. Per the outlet, Richie is receiving treatment for atrial fibrillation, which means the singer may have recently experienced an irregular heartbeat.

Regarding his treatment, the medical professionals at the hospital are using AFib ablation, which is considered a minor procedure and is minimally invasive. Essentially, this procedure creates small scars in the heart to create a barrier to faulty electrical signals. AFib ablation also helps restore the heart’s normal rhythm.

The ‘American Idol’ Judge Previously Checked Himself Into The Hospital

Richie performed at The Muny in St. Louis on August 29, with the crooner needing the assistance of a chair near the end of the show and complaining of dehydration. After the performance, he checked himself into a hospital out of caution and stayed for three days.

According to TMZ, much of that time was spent in the ICU, where doctors conducted various cardiac tests. Several days later, he was spotted at a dinner party at Mr. Chow in Beverly Hills. He appeared in good spirits in the photos, even flashing a double thumbs-up at one point.

In Transformers: The Movie, Optimus Prime (Peter Cullen) falls in a final battle with his arch-foe, Megatron (Frank Welker). Now, Hasbro has unveiled a new figure based on this dark incarnation of the once-cheery hero. A Deluxe-sized figure, Bumblebee transforms from car to robot in 29 steps and comes with Megatron’s fusion cannon, which can be attached to either mode. He’s fully poseable and features all sorts of screen-accurate detail, from the faded Autobot symbol on his chest to his sinister head sculpt. He’ll retail for $29.99 USD and can be preordered today, September 22, starting at 1 p.m. EST, from Hasbro Pulse and all other major online retailers. He’ll arrive on shelves next fall.

Who Created ‘Optimus Prime: Awakening’?

Optimus Prime: Awakening was directed by Joshua Wassung (Predator: Killer of Killers) and written by Ryan Parrott (Twisted Metal). It was animated by The Third Floor and features music by Bobby Krlic (Midsommar). It unexpectedly became the final act for veteran voice actor Cullen, who originated the character of Optimus Prime in 1984; Cullen died at age 85 last month. It reunites him with longtime friend, colleague, and co-star Welker, and also features the voices of Simon Henderson, Mathieu Bourassa, Scott Law, Gray Powell, and Jaret LeMaster.
