Mackenzie Shirilla Says She Was the 3rd Victim of Car Crash

Published

on

Kaleb Mickens Mugshot

Mackenzie Shirilla referred to herself as the “third victim” of the fatal car crash that killed her boyfriend, Dominic Russo, and their friend Davion Flanagan while she was behind the wheel.

Shirilla, 21, made the comment while speaking to her mother, Natalie Shirilla, during a phone call from the Cuyahoga County Corrections Center. At the time, the pair were discussing her lawyer’s decision to not let her take the stand and testify during the 2023 murder trial.

“I was asking him if I could just testify to show them that like, I have nothing to hide, and he was like, ‘I don’t know if that’s a good idea at this point,’” Shirilla told her mother after her bench trial, according to a phone call obtained by People.

Shirilla later argued it would benefit her case to testify in court. “If they see the truth, then they’ll know that this was nothing but a car accident,” she said. “They’ll just see that there’s a third victim, and it’s me, and I lost the love of my life and a good friend, and now I have to deal with this grief the rest of my life.”

A Texas social media influencer known as Cash Cartier was sentenced to decades in prison after he fatally beat and drugged his girlfriend, according to authorities. Kaleb Mickens’ girlfriend Sheila Cuevas had multiple broken ribs and “puncture wounds” when she died on October 8, 2023, KDFW-TV reported. That day, Mickens — now 34 — called […]

She went on to say that she also had to “deal with” being “scared to drive and stuff like that.”

Shirilla also said she felt the bench trial had not gone well and admitted she was afraid she would have to spend another year in custody before she could be granted an appeal.

Also during the conversation, Shirilla accused the prosecutors of having “henchmen go and lie on the stand” during the trial. However, she did not specify what may have happened during the bench trial to make her feel that way.

Later in the conversation, Shirilla asked her mother to “pay my bond and get me out of here.” She continued, “Like, go to a bail bondsman and see if they can pay the 10 percent.” At the time, she was being held on a $500,000 bond.

Following the request, Shirilla acknowledged that the bond would be revoked in the next few days once the judge ruled on her case.

“I’m getting very irritated like, and I need to get the f*** out of jail because they’re just trying to f*** me over bad as f***,” Shirilla told her mother.

As Shirilla predicted, her bond was revoked a few days after the call when she was convicted of four counts of murder, four counts of felonious assault, two counts of aggravated vehicular homicide and one count each of drug possession and possessing criminal tools. She was ultimately handed two concurrent sentences of 15 years to life in prison.

Shirilla was arrested and charged following a car crash that took place on July 31, 2022, in Strongsville, Ohio. At the time, she was driving Russo, 20, and Flanagan, 19, home after they went to a graduation party and visited a friend’s house.

The surviving roommates of the four University of Idaho students murdered by Bryan Kohberger spoke out at his sentencing hearing on Wednesday, July 23. Kohberger, 30, was sentenced to four consecutive life sentences after pleading guilty earlier this month to the murders of Maddie Mogen, Kaylee Goncalves, Xana Kernodle and Ethan Chapin. Mogen, Goncalves and […]

The car was traveling over 100 mph when they crashed into a brick wall, killing Russo and Flanagan.

During the trial, prosecutors argued that the crash was a botched murder-suicide attempt. Meanwhile, the defense said that Shirilla suffered from POTS, a condition that can cause dizziness and fainting, and she blacked out.

Shirilla also wondered if her medical diagnosis was the reason for the crash in Netflix’s documentary The Crash, which was released on May 15. Shirilla appeared in the documentary from behind bars and expressed remorse for the crime.

However, the interest in the case has only intensified after one of her former inmates came forward with claims that she was a mean girl and didn’t appear remorseful behind bars. In a series of TikTok videos, Mary Katherine “Kat” Crowder claimed that Shirilla was involved in many prison hookups.

“If she was grieving or remorseful, she would not have gone to prison and jumped into prison relationships over the next six months,” she said.

Britney Spears Seen Undergoing Sobriety Test In New Footage

Britney Spears on the red carpet

Newly released dashcam footage is putting one of Britney Spears’ darkest recent moments back in the spotlight. The pop icon’s March DUI arrest is making headlines again after police video surfaced showing Spears undergoing a roadside sobriety test before ultimately being placed in handcuffs. The footage, which comes just weeks after the singer pleaded guilty to DUI, offers a startling glimpse into the chaotic traffic stop that unfolded on a California highway and reveals new details from officers who claimed the singer appeared impaired.

The newly released dashcam video captures what authorities say was the aftermath of Spears allegedly driving erratically at high speeds on the southbound side of US-101 near Newbury Park, California, on March 4 around 9 p.m. In the footage, Spears, wearing what police described as a “worn green dress,” sandals, and a large fedora hat, is seen standing roadside as an officer shines a flashlight into her eyes during a sobriety test.

According to a police report, Spears allegedly struggled to complete portions of the field test and repeatedly moved her head after officers instructed her to keep it still. Also, per the report, Spears said she was not feeling well and expressed discomfort during the roadside evaluation.

“Spears related the lights were hurting her head and did not want to continue the test. Spears was unable or unwilling to follow my finger throughout the test,” the report stated. “Spears continued to move her head throughout the test after being instructed to keep her head still. Spears related that she was blind in her left eye, but was able to see my finger.”

Officers Claim Spears Admitted To Taking Prescription Medications Before Driving

According to the California Highway Patrol, Spears was arrested on “suspicion of driving under the influence of a combination of alcohol and drugs.” A police report later revealed the singer allegedly admitted to taking multiple prescription medications before getting behind the wheel, including Adderall and Prozac.

Authorities claimed officers detected “a distinct odor of an alcoholic beverage” coming from Spears’ BMW after pulling her over. Spears allegedly told police she had consumed “one champagne mimosa” earlier in the day and had taken medication, including Lamictal, Prozac, and Adderall.

Per the report, officers also allegedly discovered a bottle of pills labeled Adderall in Spears’ purse that they claimed was not prescribed to her, along with an empty wine glass inside the vehicle. At one point during the interaction, Spears allegedly told an officer: “I could probably drink four bottles of wine and take care of you, I’m an angel.”

The footage also reportedly shows Spears being handcuffed after what officers described as a lengthy roadside interaction. According to the report, Spears initially refused to exit her vehicle, allegedly telling officers she had “been pranked and harassed in the past” and wanted to speak to a lawyer.

Police claimed Spears remained inside the car for roughly 10 minutes before eventually stepping out. “[The officer] instructed Spears to exit the [car], but she initially refused. Spears related she had been pranked and harassed in the past and did not want to exit.”

After she was placed in handcuffs, Spears is reportedly heard asking officers if they had taken her phone, with police assuring her it remained in her purse. Authorities further alleged the singer displayed “drastic mood swings” throughout the arrest and at times appeared confrontational before becoming more animated.

The Singer Later Pleaded Guilty And Entered Rehab

Earlier this month, Spears pleaded guilty to a DUI charge tied to the March arrest and was sentenced to 12 months’ probation. Following the incident, the singer reportedly checked into a substance abuse rehab facility for three weeks.

At the time, a representative for Spears addressed the arrest in a statement to the Daily Mail. “This was an unfortunate incident that is completely inexcusable,” they said. “Britney is going to take the right steps and comply with the law, and hopefully this can be the first step in the long-overdue changes that need to occur in her life.”

“Hopefully, she can get the help and support she needs during this difficult time,” they added. “Her boys are going to be spending time with her, and her loved ones are going to come up with an overdue plan to set her up for success and well-being.”

Britney Spears’ Latest Headlines Add To Ongoing Concerns

The resurfaced footage comes amid continued concern surrounding Spears, who has faced very public personal struggles over the years following her highly scrutinized conservatorship, which ended in November 2021.

Most recently, Spears reportedly made headlines again after allegedly causing a chaotic scene at a Los Angeles restaurant just days after leaving rehab. However, her representative pushed back on the claims, saying, “This is completely blown out of proportion.”

Love Is Blind’s Alexa Addresses Broken Home Divorce Criticism

Love Is Blind alum Alexa Lemieux is over criticism of her near-final divorce from Brennon Lemieux.

“I get so frustrated because I get a lot of commentary of people saying, ‘Broken home, broken home.’ I’m like, ‘Are y’all … for real? Like, it’s 2026,’” Alexa, 31, said on the Thursday, May 21, episode of the “He Said, G Said” podcast. “My parents [are] divorced, and I was the kid that was like, ‘Please get a divorce.’ You know, everyone was happier afterward and I think that a broken home is not when two parents are apart.”

Alexa and Brennon, 35, tied the knot in 2021 after meeting sight unseen in the Love Is Blind pods during season 3. They split in fall 2025, one year after welcoming daughter Vienna and after nearly five years of marriage.

“Obviously [being together] would be the goal and everyone’s happy and whatever,” Alexa explained on Thursday. “If that’s not what’s happening, then keeping something that’s clearly not working, that’s the broken home.”

Love Is Blind season 3 couple Alexa and Brennon Lemieux were married for four years before going their separate ways. “After much reflection and many heartfelt conversations, we have made the difficult decision to end our marriage,” Alexa wrote via Instagram in December 2025. “This choice was not made lightly, and it comes with a […]

She added, “It’s such, like, an outdated thing and babe, you get one freaking life to live. And it’s just like, ‘Why not be happy doing it if something’s not working out?’ Everything happens for a reason, and I have my child that I love more than anything in this life out of it and I’ll always be grateful for the time that was shared and then now I get to live the rest of my life.”

According to Alexa, her divorce from Brennon is “essentially” finalized.

“I think it’s just waiting to be, like, filed into the system, I guess, is really what it is,” she stated. “Even through my divorce process, I did mine [in] a very loving way. I genuinely do not want to take our daughter from you. Like, I want you to be in her life.”

Alexa stressed that it is important for her and Brennon to be able to amicably coparent their 21-month-old daughter.

“I want to find something that works for everyone,” she stated. “I want holidays to make sense, I want her to truly experience both parents and I want what’s going to make sense and what’s the healthiest decision with everything. … [Because] we have a child together, we’re going to be in each other’s lives for the rest of our lives because of our shared daughter [and] I’m hoping eventually we’ll get to a good place of really, really healthy coparenting.”

At the moment, Alexa revealed that she and Brennon are “still figuring out” their post-split dynamic.

“[He is] someone who’s going to be in my life for the rest of my life, and I commend myself for how much I’ve seen [the] big picture of this entire situation,” Alexa said. “It’s so easy to get caught up. All I need from him is to be a good parent, and he does that, so I’m good.”

Only 3 Fantasy Movies Have Better Production Values Than The Lord of the Rings

Published

on

Jen and Kira talk to a Skeksis in The Dark Crystal

Fantasy films tend to have high production values. They need to in order to immerse an audience in their fanciful and fantastic worlds, often created through some combination of sets, locations and, especially in the 21st century, digital effects. There are numerous fantasy films that have been produced at this high level of production, from classics like The Wizard of Oz to modern franchises like Harry Potter. The gold standard for the genre, however, is Peter Jackson‘s The Lord of the Rings trilogy. One of the most massive film productions of all time, the three adaptations of J.R.R. Tolkien‘s seminal fantasy novels were shot back-to-back, mostly on location in New Zealand to take advantage of the country’s vast landscapes. The combination of those locations, along with miniature work, landmark CGI, intricately detailed costuming and makeup, and so many other elements makes the films essential fantasy productions. There’s a reason why the final film, The Return of the King, won a record-tying eleven Academy Awards.

As impressive as the production values on The Lord of the Rings are, they aren’t completely without equal, and have, on a rare few special occasions, even been bettered. There are not many fantasy films that could compete with the budget and size of Jackson’s trilogy, but there are those that have put every single cent on the screen. These are films by visionary filmmakers whose keen sense of visuals and dedication to practical effects work make them singular experiences that have no true equal within the genre, even those made by the same filmmakers. Three incredibly special fantasy movies with incredibly high production values that are all classics, cult or otherwise, and which are the only ones better than The Lord of the Rings.

The ’80s were an especially fertile time for imaginative fantasy films with high production values. The boom of practical makeup effects, coupled with studios attempting to recapture the space fantasy blockbuster success of Star Wars, led to some truly outstanding films. Ridley Scott‘s Legend was shot entirely on soundstages, giving it an otherworldly quality, and features incredible makeup effects by the legendary Rob Bottin. Excalibur is possibly the most gorgeous-looking version of the Arthurian legend ever put to film, and The Neverending Story puts most modern family fantasy movies to shame. All of these ’80s fantasy films have high production values, but there’s only one better than The Lord of the Rings, and it’s also one that could have only come from its filmmakers. The Dark Crystal was co-directed by Jim Henson and Frank Oz, features a cast made up entirely of animatronic characters, and is unlike any other fantasy film ever made.

In the fictional world of Thra, the splitting of the titular crystal caused the formation of two distinct races, the peaceful Mystics and the villainous Skeksis. The film follows a young Gelfling named Jen, who is tasked by the Mystic Master to heal the crystal to restore balance to their world. Every single creature, location and effect of the film is lovingly hand-crafted. Made in a pre-digital effects era, the film relies entirely on practical effects and was designed to showcase its advanced animatronics. No filmmaker understands the artistry of puppetry like Henson and Oz, and the film is easily the most astounding showcase of that skill. While the Muppet films all featured impressive production value that often went overlooked because of their simple character designs and family-friendly nature, no one could deny the incredible visuals of The Dark Crystal. While the prequel series that premiered on Netflix admirably maintained the use of puppets enhanced with minimal digital effects, it can’t match the impossible magic of the original film, where everything was captured in camera.

Gollum

You carry something heavy — and you carry it alone, even when you don’t have to. You were not born for greatness, and that is precisely why greatness chose you. Your courage is not the roaring, sword-swinging kind; it is quiet, stubborn, and terrifying in its refusal to quit. The Ring weighs on you more than anyone can see, and still you walk toward the fire. That is not weakness. That is the rarest kind of strength there is.

You are, without question, the best of them. Not the most powerful, not the most celebrated — but the most essential. Your loyalty is not a trait; it is a force of nature. You would carry the person you love up the slopes of Mount Doom if it came to that, and we both know you’d do it without being asked. The world needs more people like you, and the world is lucky it has even one.

You were born to lead, and you have spent years running from it. The crown is yours by right, but you know better than anyone that right means nothing without the will and the worthiness to back it up. You are tempered by loss, shaped by long roads, and defined by a code of honour you hold to even when no one is watching. When you finally step forward, the world shifts. Because it was always waiting for you.

You have seen more than you let on, and you say less than you know — which is exactly as it should be. You are a catalyst: you do not fight the battles yourself, you ignite the people who can. Your wisdom comes not from books but from an age of watching what happens when it is ignored. You arrive precisely when you mean to, and your presence alone changes what is possible. A wizard is never late.

Graceful, perceptive, and almost preternaturally calm under pressure — you see things others miss and act before others react. You do not need to make a scene to be remarkable; your presence speaks for itself. You are loyal to those you choose to stand beside, and that choice is not made lightly. You have lived long enough to know that the most beautiful things in this world are also the most fragile, and that is why you fight to protect them.

You are loud, proud, and absolutely formidable — and beneath all of that is one of the most fiercely loyal hearts in Middle-earth. You don’t do anything by half measures. Your friendships are forged like iron, your grudges run as deep as mines, and your courage in battle is the kind that makes legends. You came into this fellowship suspicious of everyone and ended it willing to die for an elf. That is not a small thing. That is everything.

You think in centuries and act in absolutes. Order, dominion, control — not because you are cruel by nature, but because you have decided that the world left to itself always falls apart, and you are the only one with the vision and the will to hold it together. You were not always this. Something was lost, or taken, or betrayed, and the version of you that stands now is the answer to that wound. The tragedy is that you’re not entirely wrong — just entirely too far gone to course-correct.

You are a study in contradiction — pitiable and dangerous, cunning and broken, capable of both cruelty and something that once resembled love. You are defined by loss: of innocence, of self, of the one thing that gave your existence meaning. Two voices war inside you constantly, and the tragedy is that the better one sometimes wins, just not often enough, and never at the right moment. You are a warning, yes — but also a mirror. We are all a little Gollum, given the right ring and enough time.

‘Pan’s Labyrinth’ (2006)

Guillermo del Toro is a filmmaker with an idiosyncratic and instantly recognizable style. Look at one frame from a film of his, like Hellboy, The Devil’s Backbone, or Crimson Peak, and it’s immediately apparent who the filmmaker behind it is. While many fantasy films of the 2000s and 2010s tried to emulate the visuals of either The Lord of the Rings or Harry Potter, del Toro’s work always remained distinct. He was regularly courted to direct a Harry Potter film and was handpicked by Peter Jackson originally to direct The Hobbit prequels, but fate and choice prevented him from ever working within either franchise. While that decision might haunt some directors, it is clear that del Toro’s magic touch is missed more from those films than they are from his filmography. In 2006, the director delivered the dark fantasy masterpiece Pan’s Labyrinth, which is arguably better than the best film from both franchises and features the highest production values.

Set in Francoist Spain in 1944, the film follows young Ofelia (Ivan Baquero) as she moves into a new home with her mother and stepfather, who is an officer with the Armed Police Corps who leads a violent campaign against a guerrilla army. The film beautifully dovetails the harsh violence of the real world with the dark fantasy world, which Ofelia discovers after she meets a mythical Faun (Doug Jones), who believes she is the reincarnated princess of the Underworld. As with all of del Toro’s films, Pan’s Labyrinth features a seamless blend of digital effects and practical effects, including Academy Award-winning makeup and production design. The film also won the Oscar for Guillermo Navarro‘s breathtaking cinematography, every frame of which could be a spellbinding painting. Pan’s Labyrinth immerses its audience in a dark fable that is fully realized. It’s del Toro’s magnum opus, and its high production values will allow it to remain timeless.

‘The Fall’ (2006)

A group of figures and an archer in a desert landscape in The Fall Image via Roadside Attractions

Director Tarsem Singh is known for films whose visuals often far outpace their narratives, such as the mindbending serial killer thriller The Cell or the Greek myth action epic Immortals. His films all undoubtedly have high production values, but none are more staggering or stunningly beautiful than his fantasy adventure epic The Fall. The film originally premiered in 2006 to acclaim at the Toronto Film Festival, before receiving a minor theatrical release two years later. It then quietly began to fade into obscurity until it was recently rescued and given a proper restoration on streaming. It has since developed a devoted following of fans, including Peter Jackson, who cast lead actor Lee Pace in The Hobbit based on his performance.

In Los Angeles in the 1920s, stuntman Roy Walker (Pace) is hospitalized after an accident, where he meets young Alexandria (Catinca Untaru). Roy begins to tell her an epic fantasy tale, which is visually realized through Alexandria’s imagination. The film was shot in twenty-four different countries, using the majesty of the real world to provide production value that is impossible to replicate artificially. The Fall was a passion project for Tarsem and took over four years to complete due to its epic scope, but there are no fantasy films that can compete with it in visual terms, especially in the modern era. It is a film whose production does not fit within the current studio or streamer model, but which makes its fantasy come to life in a way far more vivid than the most recent Middle-earth effort, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, which has an astronomical budget for its first season. Money might be able to buy some production value, but there’s no accounting for passion.

The Boys Spinoff Series Vought Rising: Cast, Release Date

‘The Boys’ Spinoff Series ‘Vought Rising’ Stars Jensen Ackles: What to Know

The Boys might be coming to an end, but Vought Rising is just beginning.

Prime Video announced in July 2024 that The Boys universe would be bringing back Jensen Ackles’ smart-mouthed Soldier Boy for its own spinoff series after the character was — literally — put on ice.

“It’s a twisted murder mystery about the origins of Vought in the 1950s, the early exploits of Soldier Boy, and the diabolical maneuvers of a Supe known to fans as Stormfront, who was then going by the name Clara Vought,” executive producers Paul Grellong and Eric Kripke said at the time. “We cannot wait to blow your minds and trouble your souls with this salacious, grisly saga drenched in blood and Compound V.”

Ackles shared the news as well, writing in an Instagram caption that he’s “ready to pick up the shield and get back to business.”

As of March 2026, Ackles officially donned his Soldier Boy cape once again, announcing that production on the first season of Vought Rising had concluded.

“Finishing out with a bang! It’s been an absolute thrill ride,” the actor captioned an Instagram video, showing off his final day of filming. “Thanks to the crew and cast and all those that gave so much time and energy to make this happen. You’re all a bunch of psychos … and I love you for it.”

Keep scrolling for everything to know about Vought Rising so far:

What Is ‘Vought Rising’?

The Boys spinoff series Vought Rising is set to take viewers into the early days of Vought and how they created the first-ever superhero using Compound V.

Showrunner Kripke discussed how the look of each character — some familiar and some new — came to be when developing Vought Rising.

“We got to have this really in-depth conversation of, ‘How would they have started?’” Kripke told Entertainment Weekly in August 2025. “The first suits that anyone wore were military suits, which are performative and ornamental. So they would emerge from that pretty naturally. If you’re a military person, you wanna wear a suit that looks like you’re in the Air Force and Navy and Army.”

How Did ‘The Boys’ Season 5 Set Up ‘Vought Rising’?

The Boys season 5 appeared to set up Vought Rising during the show’s fourth episode, which premiered in April 2026. While infiltrating Fort Harmony, Soldier Boy discovers a supe named Quinn fused to the wall. A failed V-One experiment turned him into a living plant system with powers released via spores, which impact the brain and turn people into hate-fueled monsters.

Soldier Boy eventually kills Quinn — showing some emotion when doing so — after some seeds for the spinoff series were planted (pun intended). Soldier Boy revealed while they were in Fort Harmony that there was major tension between himself and Quinn. Reddit users have theorized that Quinn is somehow related to Soldier Boy, a connection that could be explained in Vought Rising.

Which ‘The Boys’ Characters Will Appear in ‘Vought Rising’?

Ackles will, obviously, be returning as Soldier Boy. Joining him will be Aya Cash, known to fans as Stormfront (previously Liberty).

Who Else Is Starring in ‘Vought Rising’?

Several cast members have already been announced. Mason Dye, Will Hochman, KiKi Layne, Jordan Myrie, Nicolo Pasetti, Elizabeth Posey, Brian J. Smith and Ricky Stafferi have joined the show as series regulars.

In October 2025, it was announced that Cecily Strong, Mark Pellegrino, Eric Johnson and Annie Shapero were cast in recurring roles.

When Is the ‘Vought Rising’ Release Date?

An official release date for the upcoming prequel series has yet to be announced. However, the first teaser trailer — which released in May 2026 — teased that the show would be coming in 2027.

Young and the Restless Next Week: Nick Collapses & Diane Terrifies the Whole Family!

Published

on

Young and the Restless: Diane Jenkins Abbott (Susan Walters) - Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow)

Young and the Restless gives thrilling new spoilers for the week of May 25th. We are going to talk about Diane Jenkins Abbott (Susan Walters) scaring her loved ones and Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) collapsing in what looks like is another very scary fentanyl overdose.

We’ve got the latest Y&R spoilers for the week of May 25th through the 29th, including Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) in a crisis of her own. Plus, Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) is cornered and Matt Clark (Roger Howarth) is on the run again. So, let’s dive right in to what’s happening next week.

Nikki’s Crisis And Jack Offers To Sponsor Nick on Young and the Restless

So, first of all, let’s talk about what’s going on with Nikki. And at the end of this week, she met with Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) and he told her an amped up version of what Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) paid Patty Williams (Stacy Haiduk) to do to him. Jack leans heavily into the Victor drugged me details and that is kind of where he’s inflating things and that really stuns Nikki.

She suspected that Patty did the drugging and is horrified that Victor would do that given that he knows, you know, that she has addiction issues, but Jack insists that Victor crossed all lines of decency to ruin Jack’s marriage to Diane. And Nikki says Victor might as well have done that to her, and it’s a slap in her face. Nikki says she thought Victor chilled out, but now Nikki sees he hasn’t. And basically, I think Jack’s plotting to create more distance between them because he tells Nikki she should get some air, go visit Summer in Italy.

Young and the Restless Spoilers: Jack Steps Up for Nick

And Nikki says she’d love to, but it’s a bad time because she’s going to be Nick’s unofficial sponsor. And as I have been expecting, guess what happens? Jack offers to be Nick’s official sponsor as he goes through withdrawal and treatment. And Jack is a really good choice because he got addicted to pain pills under circumstances almost identical to how Nick did. If you remember, Jack had surgery and he was given painkillers and then he got hooked.

Same thing that happened with Nick. And so Nikki says that she’s going to have Nick contact Jack. She’s very happy about this. And we’re going to see Nikki by the end of the week having a warm moment with Jack before Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) shows up and Nikki takes off. And then Jack admits to Kyle that he embellished the kidnapping story a bit to make Victor look even worse.

So basically, Jack’s doubling down on making sure Nikki never ever goes back to Victor. But really, I think Jack told a pretty fair version that was close to the truth because what Victor did was awful. Bottom line is that Jack thinks it’s for the best if it gets Nikki to finally call it quits with Victor once and for all.

Diane Has Been Missing For Two Days on Y&R

So, next week we do have more stuff for Kyle and Jack that could be a really big deal for the family. Remember, a week ago, Diane was in her suite at the GCAC. She had this weird nightmare about Patty being with Jack. So, Diane left Jack a voicemail and her message says she’s hurt, but she still loves him. And Diane says she wants to move forward and plans to come to the mansion to see Jack. And since then, we haven’t seen him mention Diane’s voicemail, nor have we seen her over at the mansion. Weird, right?

That was the same day that Jack got Patty to confirm what Victor paid her to do. And Patty was irritated because Jack was insistent he wants to reconcile with Diane, but said she’s not talking to him. So, I just wonder if Patty’s gone and done something really bad because next week, Young and the Restless spoilers have Kyle telling Jack that his mom Diane has not been to work in 2 days. And Kyle says her bed hasn’t been slept in. So, that means that he went by Diane’s room at the GCAC to check on her and there’s no sign she’s been there. And Kyle says none of this is normal. He’s obviously worried.

Y&R Spoilers: Did Patty Snatch Diane?

So, I’m just worried if Patty decided to snatch Diane to make sure she can never reconcile with Jack. I wouldn’t put it past her because I don’t think crazy Patty has really changed her ways. So, next week, hopefully, Jack and Kyle can locate Diane and she’s fine. Maybe it’s a spa day or spa weekend. We’ll see.

Nikki May Be Facing A Health Crisis on Young and the Restless

Also, at the end of this week, Nikki runs into Michael Baldwin (Christian LeBlanc) at the GCAC, and Nikki is a little concerned to see Michael day-drinking, and he says that Victor is broken in ways he didn’t know was possible because he lost the empire. Nikki says, “Yeah, but Victor will hurt anybody and is putting the company before the family.”

And Michael also says, “Losing Nikki pushed Victor over the edge.” And every time Nikki defends Jack, it’s like a dagger into Victor’s heart. But after talking to Jack, you know, Nikki tells Michael there’s no going back for her and Victor. So, it does look like Jack’s plan worked.

But maybe all this stress going on in her life takes a toll on Nikki because next week’s Young and the Restless spoilers have Victoria over at her mom’s room at the GCAC and Nikki has this really, really bad headache that went away, but then it came back. So, Nikki might be facing some sort of a health crisis and that may be what finally reunites her and Victor. Something life or death.

Young and the Restless: Diane Jenkins Abbott – Nick Newman

Nick Collapses in Front of His Family on Y&R

And speaking of health crisis, it looks like Nikki’s son has one as well. We’ve all seen Nick denying he’s back on pills and popping them behind everybody’s back. He’s refusing rehab and the usual addict behavior of lying and denying.

He’s been running around trying to make these backdoor deals with Phyllis and trying to talk Christine Romalotti (Lauralee Bell) into stuff.

Meanwhile, he’s sweating up a storm and in next week’s Young and the Restless spoilers, Nick is there with Sharon Newman (Sharon Case), Victor, and Noah Newman. And he’s talking on the phone. You know, maybe Nick’s talking to Phyllis.

She’s of course freaking out because Patty stole Matt. And of course, Patty’s upset because Matt then ran away from her. But while he’s on the phone, Nick collapses and he just falls to the floor.

So, it looks like he may be overdosing again right in front of his family after telling everybody that he was getting clean. So, I’m guessing that Nikki is going to push for Jack to be Nick’s sponsor. But if Jack does that and helps Nick get clean, you know, Victor’s going to go ballistic.

I’ve been expecting for a while that Jack would step up for Nick and that it would infuriate Victor. And we all know he is still on fire about Jack saving Nikki from her latest alcohol addiction spiral.

Young and the Restless Spoilers: Matt’s on the Run

Also, next week, we’ll see if Patty can catch up to Matt. And we’ll find out more about what happened because if you remember, Patty called Victor to rat out Matt and she told Victor that she got Matt away from Phyllis, but then he took off. So, now Matt is on the run.

And we’ll also see if Phyllis can open up her ear holes and actually listen to somebody because Lauren is telling her she has to give back Newman Enterprises or she is going to go to prison. We are also going to have more of Claire Grace Newman (Hayley Erin) and Holden Novak (Nathan Owens) in New York. According to next week Y&R spoilers, they just made love again.

And I expect that Claire is going to demand that Holden follow through and tell her the big secret that he and Audra Charles (Zuleyka Silver) are hiding. And we’ll also see if the Newmans wise up and they send Nick to rehab, even if it’s against his will. Honestly, it needs to be against his will.

They need to commit him so he can’t just turn around and check himself back out. So, next week on Young and the Restless looks really wild. Be sure to check back for our complete detailed daily spoilers video for the week of May 25th through the 29th, plus our weekly predictions, two week spoilers, and a whole lot more coming your way.

The Quantum Computer Breakthrough That Was Supposed To Change Everything, Did

The Quantum Computer Breakthrough That Was Supposed To Change Everything, Did

By Henry Hards
| Published

Four years ago, IBM’s 127-qubit “Eagle” processor helped spark headlines claiming quantum computing was finally on the verge of overtaking classical computers. Back then, the company’s biggest challenge wasn’t raw processing power. It was noise.

Quantum systems are incredibly fragile, and even tiny disturbances can scramble calculations before they finish. IBM’s researchers believed they had found a way to reduce those errors through a technique called “error mitigation,” and in the years since, that idea has become one of the most important concepts in the entire quantum industry.

Quantum Error Mitigation

Quantum computers don’t work like the machines sitting on your desk. Traditional computers use bits that are either a 0 or a 1. Quantum computers use qubits, which can exist in multiple states at once through a phenomenon called superposition. Qubits can also become linked together through entanglement, allowing information to spread across a system in ways classical machines simply can’t replicate. In theory, that means a sufficiently advanced quantum computer could solve certain problems exponentially faster than even the world’s largest supercomputers.

The catch is that qubits are unstable. Heat, vibration, electromagnetic interference, and even interactions between neighboring qubits can introduce errors. That problem, known broadly as quantum noise, has been the central obstacle keeping quantum computers from becoming truly practical. Early claims of “quantum supremacy” from companies like Google generated excitement, but critics later showed that some of those supposedly impossible calculations could still be simulated by clever classical computing techniques.

IBM’s Eagle processor became important because it pushed beyond 100 connected qubits while also testing methods designed to work around that instability. Researchers intentionally added noise to calculations, analyzed how the system behaved, and then mathematically estimated what the results would have looked like in a cleaner environment. Instead of eliminating errors completely, they attempted to predict and subtract them away. That approach became known as quantum error mitigation.

Moving Forward To New Tech

Since then, IBM’s work has evolved dramatically. The company has moved beyond Eagle into newer generations of processors like Heron, which IBM says delivers major improvements in stability and sharply reduced error rates compared to Eagle-era hardware. IBM now claims Heron systems can perform quantum circuits several times more accurately than their earlier chips, while newer revisions continue lowering noise and increasing processing speed.

Researchers have also continued refining error mitigation itself. In 2026, IBM and its collaborators announced a record-setting advance in qubit fidelity using new suppression techniques designed to counter “ZZ crosstalk,” a specific type of quantum interference that causes neighboring qubits to corrupt one another. According to the study, the team managed to sustain accurate quantum calculations far longer than previous attempts, a critical step toward building machines capable of running meaningful real-world algorithms.

Quantum Still Isn’t Ready To Replace Other Computers

That doesn’t mean quantum computers are replacing classical machines anytime soon. In fact, many experts now believe the near future belongs to hybrid systems where quantum processors work alongside traditional supercomputers instead of replacing them outright. Classical systems still dominate everyday tasks and remain better at many kinds of calculations. Even IBM acknowledges that fully fault-tolerant quantum computers are still years away. The company’s current roadmap targets the end of the decade for large-scale error-corrected machines capable of handling hundreds of logical qubits and millions of quantum operations reliably.

Still, the field has clearly moved beyond the hype cycle of the early 2020s. Quantum computing is no longer just about proving that a strange experimental machine can beat a classical computer at one narrow task. The focus now is practicality: reducing errors, stabilizing qubits, scaling systems, and finding problems quantum hardware can solve more efficiently than conventional technology. IBM’s original Eagle experiments didn’t solve quantum computing overnight, but they helped establish error mitigation as one of the key bridges between today’s noisy prototype machines and tomorrow’s potentially revolutionary computers.

Bold and the Beautiful: Hope’s Ruthless Scheme Destroys Deacon & Taylor’s Romance!

Published

on

Bold and the Beautiful: Deacon Sharpe (Sean Kanan) - Taylor Hayes (Rebecca Budig)- Hope Logan (Annika Noelle)

Bold and the Beautiful has not seen Deacon Sharpe (Sean Kanan) in a hot minute. But we just got a glimpse of Taylor Hayes (Rebecca Budig) this week as she talked to Steffy Forrester (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) about Brooke Logan‘s (Katherine Kelly Lang) co-CEO power play, which as we all know was Hope Logan‘s (Annika Noelle) scheme to get what she wants because she’s not taking no for an answer.

We should have Deacon back soon on B&B in scenes with Taylor. But the question is, will Hope and Steffy squaring off again wreck their parents’ new romance? So, we are going to talk about the possible fallout from this new feud. Let’s get into it!

Deacon And Taylor Vanished from Bold and the Beautiful Six Weeks Ago

As a reminder, last we saw Deacon, it was April 10th, so it’s been what, six weeks? That was when he and Sheila Carter (Kimberlin Brown) called it quits and he officially got with Taylor and he told his kids Hope and Deke Sharpe (Harrison Cone) that he’s done with Sheila and now he’s together with his new love. So, then Taylor and Deacon vanished. Sheila has also vanished after lurking and spying on them kissing and she was ominously saying she’d be back. It wasn’t over.

Something like that. Since then, not a word, not a peep about Taylor and Deacon’s status or what’s up with Sheila. Instead, we got all the Electra pouty stuff and circled back around to reigniting the Hope versus Steffy feud over Hope for the Future. And before that, it was the Logan versus Forrester drama that, you know, is ongoing. And that plot there, plus the feud could be what messes with Taylor’s new relationship.

Hope & Steffy’s Friendship Ruined on B&B

So, things were going pretty well between Hope and Steffy, until Bill Spencer (Don Diamont) gifted Katie Logan (Heather Tom) her own fashion house and Steffy started trash-talking the Logans again. That was not a good sign and fans could kind of see where it was headed. A whole new rivalry and feud between Hope and Steffy. And now we’ve got Hope acting out and trying to manipulate her mom Brooke into stealing Steffy’s co-CEO job.

At the same time, Liam Spencer (Scott Clifton) been busy trying to woo Hope over to Logan to work with him and Katie and Bill. And they all promised her the moon if she would come over. They’d make it happen for her. So right now, Hope to me is acting like she did right as she and Carter pulled the coup and stole Forrester Creations. Hope has decided that her line being shelved is a personal hit at her, even though everybody else aside from her and Zende Forrester (Delon de Metz) clearly see the resources need to be focused on Eric Forrester‘s (John McCook) new couture line.

Hope And Steffy Are About to Have A Major Showdown on Bold

Plus, Hope’s getting really nasty with her mom, Brooke. And it was kind of interesting when Hope was pressing Brooke to choose her over Ridge Forrester (Thorsten Kaye) because that was the same time Steffy was pressing Ridge to choose her over Brooke and Steffy got her way but Hope didn’t and now it’s eating at her. Meanwhile, fans have been asking constantly on soap social media and the comments here, where’s Taylor? Where’s Deacon? Where’s Sheila?

And why did they disappear? Well, this Hope and Steffy showdown could be what brings at least two of them back to our screens. We already had Taylor hearing from Steffy about Brooke’s big move and Liam, Bill and Katie got Hope fired up to come over to Logan and they even agreed she could bring Deke with her. But Hope said she had to try one last time to see if her line would be revived at Forrester Creations.

Bold and the Beautiful: Taylor Impressed by Brooke

So, she went to see Steffy and she said that Brooke told her that Hope was the one pushing the co-CEO thing and Taylor was obviously upset to hear that Ridge tried to take Steffy’s job and give it to Brooke. And on the flip of that, Taylor was actually impressed by the very nice text that Brooke sent. So, right now, Steffy is playing nice with Brooke. But she refused to give a firm date about Hope for the Future. Although, she did confirm to Brooke that Hope’s line will come back.

And Brooke seemed to accept that because it makes sense. She understands that this is business. So, all Hope has to do is to be patient and be a team player. But she has zero chill. And by the end of this week, she’s coming in hot at Steffy demanding an exact date for when it’ll be back. And she can’t give Hope that date because she just doesn’t know.

So I think we’re going to see after this showdown with Steffy that Hope is going to run and officially join Logan possibly by Monday’s Bold and the Beautiful episode. Now Brad Bell could always wimp out. But I feel like Hope’s going over there. And from there, Steffy’s going to be annoyed that Hope was not a team player and couldn’t be patient, and Hope’s going to be angry and playing the victim card, insisting that Steffy basically ran her out of Forrester Creations and that Hope had no choice but to go to Logan.

Will Hope and Steffy’s Feud Wreck Taylor and Deacon’s Romance on B&B?

And since we just saw Taylor this week, I’m hoping that’s a sign we’re going to get Deacon back soon as well. They are in the honeymoon phase of their new romance, but he and Taylor may hit a speed bump because of their daughters going back to war and Hope lashing out. Now, of course, you would expect Deacon to side with Hope and agree that her line shouldn’t have been shelved yet again.

And Taylor’s going to agree with Steffy that business is business and the numbers aren’t good on the line. And even if they were, Eric’s collection comes first. So, right now, I don’t know if Taylor is living at Steffy’s or was just there to visit and has moved in with Deacon. You know, we’ll see. But what I think is going to happen is we may see Deacon popping up at Steffy’s to see Taylor if she is indeed still living with her daughter.

Bold and the Beautiful: Hope Drops in

And with Hope planning to bring Deke to Logan as well. I’m sure Hope’s going to drop in at Il Giardino with that good news. And you know, hopefully we’ll have more than just fashion rivalry and we’ll get an update on Taylor and Deacon’s romance and what they’ve been doing. With Sheila out of the way, it doesn’t look like Steffy is pushing her anti-Deacon ultimatum on Taylor anymore. So, I would expect to hear that as of now, Deacon and Taylor are doing well.

They’re in a comfortable romance that’s pretty stress-free because Sheila is gone and isn’t bothering them. At least not yet. I do expect at some point Taylor and Deacon will face more trouble from Sheila, though. But the bigger obstacle could be Taylor and Deacon’s daughters, who are at war again this week. Once Hope goes over to Logan, because that’s what it looks like we’re getting.

I think Steffy’s going to have some things to say about her being a traitor and being manipulative and selfish and disloyal for going over there with Katie. And I suspect Taylor is going to agree with all of that because Hope’s last scheme before heading to Logan was trying to push her mom to take Steffy’s place running Forrester Creations.

Bold and the Beautiful: Trouble Ahead for Deacon & Taylor?

Taylor’s not going to like that at all, but Deacon loves his daughter and of course he’s going to have to defend Hope. So, I could see Taylor and Deacon bickering over whether Steffy or Hope is the one in the wrong in this situation. I very much doubt that Taylor and Deacon will see eye to eye on this issue. And of course, as Hope’s dad, he already has reason to be team Logan. But even more than that, Bill is planning to invest in Deacon expanding Il Giardino.

So, he’s not going to turn his back on the Spencers. And once Deke is hired over there, that means both of Deacon’s kids will be at Logan. So, of course, that’s the side he’s going to be on. Taylor, meanwhile, is going to be firmly team Forrester for Steffy’s sake, but also for Ridge and Eric’s sakes.

So, the big question is, will the Steffy versus Hope feud coming back to life and maybe honestly being worse than ever, is that going to have an impact on Taylor and Deacon? Maybe. However, I will say since Taylor’s a shrink and she knows all about conflict management and resolution, maybe she and Deacon can just agree to disagree, not let it affect them, kind of not discuss it. But of course, that wouldn’t be very soapy, would it?

Anne Hathaway lays the cosmetic narrative to rest once and for all!

The Hollywood icon finally caved in to the unending noise around her appearance, explaining that a cosmetic procedure is not responsible for her famed beauty.

Anne Hathaway was named the Most Beautiful Woman earlier in the year by a magazine, where she admitted some harsh truths about beauty, career, and family life in the interview.

The actress took advantage of her new interview with Elle Magazine to debunk the rumor of her getting a facelift. According to her, addressing the whole report was never part of the plan, but it had gone on for so long that she felt obligated to right these wrongs. In her words:

“We’re at a time when people feel very confident in assuming what they think is fact, and sometimes what they think is accurate, and sometimes it’s not.”

In the May 21st interview, Hathaway noted that she even shared a hack to plump the lips alongside the braid trick to quench the conversation around her face.

The actress added that getting a facelift is a serious medical decision, and people presumed that she would do something that extreme when all she did was get two braids done.

Hathaway did not, however, erase the possibility of actually getting a facelift sometime in the future, but when the criticisms come, she would be better equipped to handle it; something her younger self never had the capacity to do.

She noted that the criticism of her career earlier on exposed her to fear that made her treat herself so harshly. The actress continued that looking back at how she conducted herself then, she realized she might also have been harsh to other people, and she gets nauseous thinking about it.

Hathaway evolved from a teen Disney star into one of the most sought-after talents in Hollywood with several awards to her name. The actress won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress, a Golden Globe, and a BAFTA for her devastating portrayal of Fantine in the 2012 musical “Les Misérables.”

As noted by The Blast, in 2022, Hathaway got into the vegan lifestyle during her preparations for the role of Rebekah Neumann in the Apple TV+ series “WeCrashed.”

The TV star went a step further than just a plant-based diet and avoided animal products altogether, and even went raw or cooked at low temperatures.

On “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” Hathaway admitted that the role of Rebekah inspired her to try out veganism. Hathaway explained that veganism was something that she loved, and at the time, she thought she might do this for real, since she had tried before and it did not work out.

The switch, however, was not to be permanent, as only a few weeks after shooting, Hathaway started to crave meat once more and eventually gave up the vegan diet.

Having been named the Most Beautiful Woman by PEOPLE magazine and even appearing on the cover for May 2026, Hathaway added another feather to her cap. The Blast stated that the actress shared her insight during the interview about the concept of beauty, motherhood, and life in Hollywood.

She recalled that one day, an actor told her that beauty can still have blemishes as long as it is accompanied by honesty and truth. The actress continued that the concept has inspired her to alter her perspective on beauty, and it has remained with her since.

In sharing her training regimen, the “The Devil Wears Prada” star also praised her longtime trainer, Monique Eastwood, for collaborating on personal projects for over four years. She revealed that Eastwood’s ballet, HIIT, Pilates, and yoga classes have helped her maintain her figure.

After taking over for more than two decades in Hollywood, Hathaway admitted she is now taking a lighter and happier attitude to life. The Oscar-winning actress talked about the self-imposed constraints she imposed on herself when she started.

Hathaway revealed that when she began acting, she thought that it would make her a better artist if she were too hard on herself. But when she turned 40, that all changed, and she ceased to seek perfection and started to savor life and success.

The actress continues that she does not want stress to be a major part of her life anymore; instead, she cherishes the fun, being real, and having people around her who can share the joy and laugh with her when it gets tough.

One thing is true: Anne Hathaway is beautiful across all boards, time, and seasons!
