Only 5 Psychological Thrillers From the 2010s Can Be Considered True Masterpieces
While all types and approaches to thriller filmmaking have had a distinct niche and several masterpieces over the years, there is something inherently striking and compelling about psychological thrillers that continues to make them compelling for modern filmmakers. The 2010s especially were home to a wide array of great psychological thrillers, ranging from massive blockbusters like Inception and Split to dynamic independent films like Blue Ruin and Under the Skin.
However, among the myriad of exceptional movies that were released during the decade, only five can be considered true masterpieces of the psychological thriller subgenre. They exude everything that makes the genre excel so greatly, amplified by the strengths of the era and top-notch filmmaking to create exceptional works of art that still deliver long after the decade has ended. Several of these films have even amassed substantial legacies as some of the greatest psychological thrillers of both the 21st century and cinema as a whole.
‘Gone Girl’ (2014)
Throughout the ’90s and 2000s, David Fincher has stood as a seemingly unbreakable pillar of the thriller genre, creating several masterpieces that have elevated and evolved the genre in all of its different styles and approaches. As far as his 2010s psychological thrillers are concerned, Gone Girl immediately stands out not just among his own filmography but among every other filmmaker who attempted to replicate his style in the lead-up to and in the wake of its success. The film follows the fallout and fears surrounding the disappearance of Amy Dunne (Rosamund Pike) and the subsequent media circus that begins to overwhelm the life of Amy’s husband, Nick (Ben Affleck). However, once people begin to suspect that Nick is not so innocent, the media turns on him, and the situation becomes dangerous.
Gone Girl is home to a lot of the signature traits that make Fincher’s style of psychological thriller filmmaking so compelling, amplifying the themes and dynamics of the original novel with pristine tension and weight. However, the defining takeaway that audiences have from the film that has kept it in the conversation of Fincher’s greatest masterpieces is the exceptional leading performances from Affleck and Pike. The latter especially provides a career-best performance as Amy Dunne, breathing life into a layered yet shockingly sinister and calculated character that truly comes into her own. Pike’s efforts resulted in a much-deserved Oscar nomination. Time has only been kind to this modern Fincher classic, with some exceptional pacing and timeless themes helping make Gone Girl just as masterful in the modern day as it was when it first released 12 years ago.
‘Black Swan’ (2010)
Often considered to be the magnum opus of director Darren Aronofsky, Black Swan is a striking and bombastic exploration of impostor syndrome and toxic dedication to art at the expense of one’s sanity and physical health. The film follows the cutthroat lead up to a prestigious New York City production of Swan Lake, largely from the perspective of dedicated young ballerina Nina (Natalie Portman), who has been building her entire life toward her profession of dancing. She finally gets her shot in the spotlight when prima ballerina Beth MacIntyre (Winona Ryder) is replaced for the opening production of Swan Lake. However, Nina’s journey doesn’t come without hurdles, as being in the spotlight makes her that much larger a target for anxiety and ruthless judgment from her peers.
There is intelligence to the exploration of its mature, uneasy themes that made Black Swan an overwhelming critical hit when it was first released. However, unlike many other films that have tackled such stories of unhealthy relationships with perfection and artistic glory, Black Swan‘s themes and approach to its messages have only grown more timely and important in the years since its release. Combined with some exceptional filmmaking from Aronofsky and career-best performances from the likes of Portman and Mila Kunis, the film soon became a classic of the era. Despite coming out at the very beginning of the decade, Black Swan had a definitive chokehold over the psychological thriller culture of the decade, especially when considering the films that had a female lead and female-centric story and themes.
‘Whiplash’ (2014)
Amplifying the anxiety of an overbearing teacher with the self-destructive toxicity of wanting to be one of the very best, no matter the sacrifice required to achieve it, Whiplash is a masterfully bleak psychological thriller that is electrifying to watch. It follows young, talented drummer Andrew (Miles Teller) working under the direction of ruthless instructor Fletcher (J.K. Simmons) to achieve perfection as a jazz drummer in a college ensemble. Despite the ruthless and unforgiving nature of Fletcher’s teaching, Andrew will overcome every obstacle through sheer drive, even when seemingly everything is working against him in this overly toxic environment.
The defining strength of Whiplash that has helped it become celebrated as one of the perfect movies of the 2010s is its unbridled sense of tension and uneasy anxiety. A lot of this anxiety can be attributed to the masterful supporting performance from Simmons, who commands presence and attention every time he is on-screen, with a terrifying performance of sheer anger. His brilliant, Oscar-winning performance is further amplified by the distinct layers of the central characters and their perspective on greatness and what it takes to be truly great. Today, Whiplash remains one of the all-time greatest music-based thrillers and a masterfully executed portrayal of sheer chaos and anxiety.
‘Prisoners’ (2013)
One of the greatest strengths of psychological thrillers is their ability to delve into some deeply disturbing and unsettling concepts while pushing their characters to the absolute brink, forcing them to make sacrifices and show the raw, ugly truth within. Prisoners is one of the greatest examples of such painful spiraling unfolding on-screen, with the film following the ongoing pain and emotional turmoil that the sudden kidnapping of two young girls has on their families and an entire community. It largely follows the perspective of pained father Keller Dover (Hugh Jackman) and experienced detective Loki (Jake Gyllenhaal). As the investigation continues to end in red herrings and tired loose ends, the pain grows that much more palpable with each passing day.
Prisoners is at its best when it’s showing the painful lengths that some of its characters are willing to go to save their family members, with Keller especially going to extreme, uncomfortable lengths by kidnapping and torturing the perceived culprit, Alex (Paul Dano). Between its shifting perspectives, strikingly beautiful cinematography from Roger Deakins, and masterful directing and pacing from Denis Villeneuve, Prisoners‘ reputation has grown massively in the years since and is now considered one of the all-time greatest thrillers of the 21st century. It understands the gravitas and weight of its central premise, utilizing it as a jumping-off tool for the bleak spiraling of its characters and one of the most compelling mysteries that 2010s cinema has to offer.
‘Parasite’ (2019)
It’s hard to really compare any other psychological thriller of the 2010s to the overwhelming mastery and brilliance of Bong Joon Ho‘s Parasite, which tells a brilliant story of class divide and deception that broke through the global cultural barrier. The film follows the story of an unemployed family fighting for survival, who seemingly find a perfect path to glory as they systematically infiltrate the wealthy Park family one at a time. However, as soon as they start to get comfortable working for the family, the darker secrets of the Park’s home become brazenly apparent, threatening to completely destroy everything they have been working towards. Parasite‘s mastery as a cinematic work of art goes beyond the 2010s as a decade and even beyond the thriller genre to be considered one of the greatest movies of all time.
Parasite achieves one of the most difficult balancing acts that is possible within such a psychological thriller that deals with dark, dynamic, and important messaging and symbolism at its center. The film is highly entertaining from start to finish, utilizing the chemistry and comedic strengths of the cast to create a volatile and dynamic deception that makes each scene memorable. However, having lighthearted comedic moments doesn’t take away from the raw and effective emotional moments, especially in the final act when the tables have turned, and the tensions are at an all-time high. The legacy and influence that Parasite has already had on wider filmmaking and the thriller genre have been inescapable. Indeed, it will continue to be celebrated as a definitive masterpiece of the thriller for as long as the genre continues to be relevant.

Andy Cohen Reveals Oscar Winner Solved ‘Summer House’ Leak
Jennifer Lawrence apparently did more than just watch “Summer House.” She helped crack one of Bravo’s biggest recent scandals. Andy Cohen revealed that the Oscar-winning actress played a surprising role in helping Bravo investigate the leaked audio from the Summer House Season 10 reunion, putting months of speculation to rest. The revelation came during Wednesday’s episode of “Watch What Happens Live,” which aired following the final installment of the reunion special.

For weeks, fans speculated about the identity of a mysterious Bravo superfan who allegedly assisted the network as it investigated leaked reunion audio that spread online following filming in April.
Many viewers suspected Lawrence, a longtime Bravo enthusiast, may have been involved, and Cohen finally confirmed the rumors. “There’s been a lot of speculation of who that Bravo superfan was, with a lot of people assuming it was Jennifer Lawrence,” Cohen said on Wednesday’s episode of “Watch What Happens Live.”
He went on to praise Bravo fans for rallying behind the network during the controversy. “And I just want to say, Bravo superfans are the best,” Cohen continued. “You rode with us on this, you knew that this was bad that it was leaked and you wanted to see it when we presented it.”
Cohen later confirmed Lawrence’s involvement directly, crediting her “online sleuthing” for helping uncover the person responsible. “Bravo fans are the most loyal and dedicated,” Cohen said, adding, “Jennifer Lawrence, Oscar winner, you are the top of the class!”
The ‘Summer House’ Reunion Leak Sparked Outrage

The controversy began after multiple audio clips from the “Summer House” Season 10 reunion, filmed on April 23, surfaced online before Bravo aired the episodes. The leaked footage quickly spread across social media, prompting Cohen to publicly condemn the incident.
“People laid their souls out emotionally for ten hours yesterday, and it’s disgusting and illegal for someone to leak or distribute this,” Cohen wrote on Threads at the time. “It’s disrespectful to the work and the tears the cast put in. Let the season play out. You will see it all in due time.”
Among the leaked audio was a heated moment involving Ciara Miller and Amanda Batula, with Miller calling her former best friend a “f-cking snake” over Batula’s relationship with West Wilson.
Bravo Launches Investigation Into Reunion Leak

Following the leak, Bravo reportedly launched a “full investigation” and eventually traced the unauthorized audio to someone working on the production team. The network later confirmed “appropriate action has been taken” and said investigators found no evidence that any cast member was involved.
“We take these matters seriously and will continue to take appropriate measures to respond to the unauthorized distribution of our content,” Bravo said.
‘Summer House’ Drama Is Far From Over
The reunion drama also did not stop with the leaked audio. Part 3 of the “Summer House” Season 10 reunion featured even more fallout surrounding West Wilson and Amanda Batula’s controversial relationship, with both admitting they only came clean after online speculation spiraled out of control.
After spending much of the reunion denying anything physical happened before Amanda’s split from Kyle Cooke, West acknowledged that an emotional connection had developed over the summer, while also admitting the pair let friends believe rumors about them were false.
The tension escalated further when Amanda and West were pressed on whether they had any intention of telling the truth without public pressure. Asked directly whether they only confessed because fans were already speculating online, Amanda admitted the timing was no coincidence.
She explained the pair came forward “because of the speculation” and because “there were a lot of things that I was still trying to understand and figure out, including the Meija situation.”
West Finally Admits Truth About His Relationship Drama
Meanwhile, West ultimately admitted he had been dating multiple women at the same time, even though his ex-girlfriend Meija Moreno believed their relationship was exclusive, another revelation that left the cast visibly stunned.
The reunion also saw Ciara Miller confront Amanda over the damage done to their friendship, offering what many fans viewed as one of the reunion’s few moments of emotional closure amid the chaos.
Bravo is set to air “Summer House: The Aftermath” next week, featuring additional footage of Batula, Wilson, Miller, and Cooke as they attempt to unpack the fallout even further.

Donnie Wahlberg & More Heat Up Las Vegas at Circa’s Barry’s Downtown Prime
Summer in Vegas looks different for everyone. Some find solitude relaxing at the hotel pools all day, while others spend their time finding the best dining spots within the powerful AC of the casinos. The party never stops downtown, and with summer just around the corner, the sightings and happenings are definitely heating up.
Just like how many athletes favor Barry’s Downtown Prime at Circa Las Vegas before a game, celebrities also are known to stop in before award shows, amongst other nights out. This was certainly true for Donnie Wahlberg, star of the hit TV show Blue Bloods, and NKOTB member Jordan Knight. It is no secret that this is Donnie’s number one choice for any night out, and he wanted Jordan to experience it as well, ahead of walking the red carpet at the AMAs. Donnie always recommends the desserts at Barry’s, including the Oreo Ice Cream Pie — a must to top off any meal.

Just two days prior, Joe Montana, who happens to be good friends with chef Barry, stopped in and posed together in the wine room.
Joe has been seen multiple times at Barry’s in the past.
The Mountain Has Entered the Building

Icelandic professional strongman Thor, or Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson — known to many as “The Mountain” from the hit show Game of Thrones — and his wife Kelsey were joined by fitness pro and influencer Jason Poston and his wife Sheena, along with Sebastian Oreb and Dinny J, who all fueled up for their weekend by trying Barry’s for the first time.
Being their first visit to Circa, they toured Stadium Swim and Legacy Club, loving the property and the breathtaking view of the city from 60 floors up on the patio.
TikTok Comes to Fremont Street

What better way to decompress after a business trip to TikTok headquarters — owner Nicholas Wolfs of Perfect Society, one of the top 10 creator agencies for TikTok, and his fiancée Kaitlyn, co-owners Nick Young and Chetty Tok were all seen posing at the iconic Vegas Vickie’s in the Circa lobby with CEO/Owner Derek Stevens and COO David Rosborough.
With thousands of creators under the Perfect Society agency, it looks like they found the right hotel in Vegas to partner with.
It does not matter what brings the crowds to Las Vegas. There is always something to see, eat, and celebrate. What adds to the excitement are the unexpected run-ins with celebrities of all kinds doing the exact same thing, and it only shows that everyone has the same really good taste.

Forget ‘Deadpool,’ Ryan Reynolds’ Best Sci-Fi Movie Is Waiting To Be Rediscovered
Ryan Reynolds is easily one of the most famous actors in the world. Whether it’s from his romcom days in films like The Proposal, or his real-life pursuits of success with Wrexham A.F.C., or even Reynolds’ Aviation Gin, it’s an extremely hard task to find someone who doesn’t know the name Ryan Reynolds. But none of these products, football clubs, or other films are as synonymous with the Canadian actor as the Deadpool movies. Utilizing his bubbly charisma, Reynolds created one of the most popular superheroes in modern memory.
Yet, there is another sci-fi action movie that allows Reynolds to explore a different aspect of his comedy in a way that is just as lovable as Deadpool’s crude cynicism: Free Guy. Released in 2021, Free Guy delivers an accessible, heartfelt message about sincerity, using video games as the perfect vehicle and serving up energetic action and delightfully absurd comedy. It may not have made as much money as Deadpool & Wolverine, but Free Guy sits right alongside as one of Reynolds’ best performances and overall films.
What is ‘Free Guy’ About?
Free Guy primarily follows Guy (Ryan Reynolds), a non-playable character, in the open-world multiplayer video game Free City, a vibrant, densely populated setting that feels strikingly similar to Grand Theft Auto V. At the start, Guy is merely someone who lives the same day every day, caught up in the chaos created by the “sunglasses people” as Guy names them due to the glasses each player wears. When Guy gains sentience and steals another player’s glasses, he accidentally becomes the most popular gamer, threatening to derail the plans of the money-hungry Antwan (Taika Waititi), the CEO of the company that makes Free City. While Guy is a naive, fun-loving character, Antwan’s cynicism creates a clear thematic battle between kindness and selfishness that making it impossible not to root for Guy at every turn, especially since his goal is only to get the attention of Millie (Jodie Comer), another gamer he falls in love with.
The 45 Best Adventure Movies of All Time, Ranked According to IMDb
Take the adventure of a lifetime from your couch.
For video game fans, Free Guy is perhaps one of the most fun interpretations of a multiplayer, open-world game put on the screen. Free Guy embraces video game absurdism, with action that sees Guy accidentally use power-ups that launch him hundreds of feet in the air, only to fall on his face. As he becomes more skilled, leveling up to impress Millie, the audience is reminded of their own journeys, going from a “noob” to a pro.
Ryan Reynolds’ Performance in ‘Free Guy’ is a Refreshing Switch Up From ‘Deadpool’
Ryan Reynolds is one of the most popular actors for a reason. He delivers performances that are comforting to watch and make audiences laugh, and his approach to Free Guy and how different it is to Deadpool is exactly why this film works so well. While Deadpool is upbeat and funny, it’s his sarcasm that defines him. In contrast, Guy is truly sincere, wearing a toothy smile throughout that frames all of his actions as innocent. This separates him from other action heroes and makes Free Guy a unique experience for action fans, where he isn’t the grizzled warrior, like Rambo (Sylvester Stallone) or the Terminator (Arnold Schwarzenegger).
Instead, the way he falls in love with Millie, making a huge effort to level up just so he can talk to her, makes for a romance and argument in favor of kindness that gives Free Guy a depth one might not expect, layering the story. When Guy is with Millie, Reynolds hunches his shoulders and keeps his head low, giving Guy an adorably meek quality and casting him as an underdog in the audience’s eyes, far removed from how Deadpool is usually perceived.
Overall, there are few better ways to spend your evening than sitting back and relaxing with Free Guy. As far as video game interpretations go, Free Guy is up there with one of the best, understanding the bizarre and unrealistic nature of video games and how you can truly be anyone you want to be when in the game. In doing so, Free Guy also embraces a positive message about changing your life for the better, even when it should be impossible, with Ryan Reynolds carrying that message like he was born to do so. It may not be what he is remembered for, but Free Guy showed a side to Reynolds we don’t often get to see, and it is all the better for it.

Tom Brady Praises Launch Of New Coconut Water Brand
Tom Brady has partnered with food delivery company Gopuff to launch a new beverage line called Good Nut. The premium brand will offer organic coconut water drinks in a market projected to reach $11 billion by 2030.
The former NFL star praised the launch in a statement to the press and also shared details about how the beverage came together as he continues to expand his business portfolio after retirement.
Brady and instant-commerce leader Gopuff have entered the beverage market with a premium line of organic coconut water, which they announced earlier this week.
With the coconut water market expected to continue growing in the coming years, the former NFL star said the new product is something “customers would actually want to drink,” adding that the team hopes to capitalize on rising consumer demand.
“Gopuff has a unique ability to understand what consumers want and get great products into their hands in minutes,” Brady told Fox Business in an exclusive. “We had a great experience working together on GOAT Gummies, and that trust made it easy to team up again on Good Nut.”
Why Brady Embraced The Coconut Water Idea

Brady is no stranger to coconut water, which is one of the reasons the idea of launching a beverage with Gopuff came together so quickly.
“It’s something I’ve enjoyed for years, and hydration has always been an important part of my routine, during my playing career and still today,” Brady revealed.
By partnering with Gopuff, Brady said he believed they could bring something unique to the rapidly growing market while offering consumers a healthier option.
“Hydration has always been a big part of my routine, and while coconut water has been a staple for me, I knew we could take it to a completely different level by teaming up with Gopuff,” he added. “With Good Nut, we focused on keeping the ingredients simple and clean, making sure it’s exactly what I’d want in my own fridge.”
Tom Brady Says He Loves Building Brands Up

Before working on Good Nut, Brady and Gopuff collaborated on GOAT Gummies, which launched in June 2024.
The vegan snack contains “no artificial sweeteners, artificial dyes, or artificial flavors,” the former NFL star said in an interview with Forbes around the time of its launch.
Looking ahead, Brady said he is enjoying a post-football career centered on developing and growing brands.
“One of the most rewarding parts of this chapter of my life has been building brands from the ground up,” he said.
“With Good Nut, we wanted to create something fun that people would genuinely enjoy. It’s been exciting to bring that vision to life,” the retired quarterback added.
Brady Explains His Approach To Better Snacks
In his interview with Forbes, Brady also shared that the core of his collaboration with Gopuff is creating products that are both healthier and enjoyable.
He believes consumers should be able to enjoy the foods they love without feeling pressured to change their eating habits completely.
“I realize it’s always about, ‘How can we do a little bit better,” Brady said. “I don’t necessarily want people to always eat how I eat.”
“People, they like to eat the way they eat, but how can I create some things that are fun, that they’re going to enjoy, that are a little bit healthier than the things that they currently have? That’s really the impetus of what we’ve done here with this partnership with Gopuff,” the seven-time Super Bowl winner added.
Tom Brady Was Excited To Join Gopuff

As part of the partnership, Brady is expected to take a hands-on role in developing new products rather than simply serving as the brand’s celebrity face.
When he first joined forces with Gopuff, Brady expressed excitement about the opportunity and praised the company’s success as an instant-commerce platform.
“Since my first time using Gopuff, I’ve been amazed by how fast and seamless the deliveries are, offering so many different options right at your fingertips,” Brady said in a statement. “I’m excited to be working with the Gopuff team to continue to drive innovation and help create an even better experience for their customers.”

What DC’s ‘Supergirl’ Tells Us About the New ‘Wonder Woman’ Movie
Summary
- Collider’s Steve Weintraub talks with Milly Alcock and screenwriter Ana Nogueira for Supergirl.
- In this interview, the pair discuss how the film champions humanity and vulnerability, what it’s like joining a big franchise, and tackling Kryptonian dialogue.
- Nogueira also shares her key principles while penning the DCU’s Wonder Woman reboot.
Perfectly aligned to launch the summer blockbuster season into a new millennium, Supergirl is flying into theaters soon, with House of the Dragon alum Milly Alcock setting off on an interplanetary adventure in search of her best friend, Krypto. The second feature film in James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DCU also marks a major first for both Alcock and screenwriter Ana Nogueira, who’s already tapped for the upcoming Wonder Woman reboot. But before this highly anticipated Superman follow-up debuts, Collider’s Steven Weintraub had the chance to pick Alcock and Nogueira’s brains on Supergirl’s message to audiences and what it’s really like stepping into one of the most iconic fandoms in the world.
Directed by Craig Gillespie, Supergirl officially introduces us to the DCU’s Kara Zor-El (Alcock), Superman’s (David Corenswet) headstrong cousin, who has chosen a nomadic space-faring lifestyle, effectively distancing herself from others. She’s reckless and somewhat aimless, but when a ruthless space pirate (Matthias Schoenaerts) puts Krypto’s life in danger, Kara will have to learn to let her guard down and team up with some very unlikely companions to save his life. The movie also stars Jason Momoa as the fan-favorite bounty hunter Lobo, as well as Eve Ridley as Ruthye Marye Knoll, David Krumholtz as Zor-El, and Emily Beecham as Alura In-Ze.
Don’t miss the full conversation in the video above or the transcript below, where Alcock and Nogueira discuss the film. When asked about the importance of representation, Alcock explains that Supergirl has a universal message (“There’s so much power in vulnerability, and there’s so much strength in humanity…”) and Nogueira ties her approach to this movie with her next project, the DCU’s Wonder Woman reboot. Plus, Alcock explains how House of the Dragon helped her master a particularly challenging scene in Supergirl.
Milly Alcock Says Joining the DCU Was More Intimidating Than ‘House of the Dragon’
She shares her insight on the challenges of joining massive fandoms.
COLLIDER: Milly, I have to start with you. You’ve been part of House of the Dragon and the DCU. Which fandom felt more intimidating to step into?
MILLY ALCOCK: Ooh. I feel like DC has been quite intimidating to step into. It’s interesting when you step into a fandom because there is an element of being an actor that’s kind of exclusive to when you step into a fandom. The character doesn’t solely belong to you. The character actually kind of almost belongs to the audience, and the audience all have their own expectations and ideas of who this person is and how they present themselves, and what they look like, and all these things. Yeah, it’s different from doing a traditional job where you get to fully just be them.
Representation is incredibly important, and so many young girls and women all around are going to be inspired by Supergirl. What do you hope they take away from Kara for their lives?
ANA NOGUEIRA: I hope that they take away the idea that they can be their full, messy, authentic selves and still be heroes, that those two things don’t cancel each other out. That having struggles doesn’t mean that you can’t be a champion for somebody else.
ALCOCK: I just hope people take away from the film that there’s so much power in vulnerability and there’s so much strength in humanity. You don’t have to save the world; you can just save your own. And saving yourself sometimes is the best thing that you can do for those around you. I feel that that’s not exclusive just to girls and women. I think that that’s a universal thing. I think that despite age and gender, we all at one point have felt that within ourselves, that need to just find it okay to be who you are.
‘Supergirl’ Writer Ana Nogueira Shares a New Update on DC’s Wonder Woman Movie
She discusses the principles guiding her new script.
When I put on social that I was going to be talking to the two of you, I think every single person said, “Please ask about Wonder Woman.”
NOGUEIRA: Oh, I’m sure they did.
What is it like actually writing both Supergirl and working on Wonder Woman, and what would you like to tell fans in terms of where you’re at in that script?
NOGUEIRA: I mean, there will be a little sniper dot on my head if I say too much. But I will say that, like from all of it, I try to approach every character that I write from a place of what feels is the most true to me about them. For Kara, it was this backstory that she had. I always try to come at it that way and put on some blinders, and see what the character means to me before I take them off onto the page.
‘House of the Dragon’ Prepared Milly Alcock To Become a Kryptonian
“You just really have to understand the integrity of the scene.”
Without spoilers, there’s a sequence that takes place on Krypton, and I love that it’s not in English. I love that you’re asking the audience to read subtitles. Can you talk about the writing of that sequence? And as an actor, what is it like delivering dialogue that’s not native to you and having to deal with emotional stuff while speaking a foreign language?
NOGUEIRA: For me, the writing process was just a regular writing process because we had wonderful linguists translate my English into Kryptonian. I loved being able to write, though, those kinds of heightened emotional scenes that are so different from the rest of the scenes in the movie.
ALCOCK: For me, I approached it the same way I did on House of the Dragon with High Valyrian, and that is you just really have to understand the integrity of the scene in English so you know where you can go and how to play with the other actor who’s there on the day, and also really knowing their lines and what they all mean. Then, slowly but surely, you introduce the Kryptonian, and then it’s line by line by line, and then learning the other actor’s last phrase so you can react with that. It’s kind of like learning a song in another language. There becomes a natural rhythm to it, and then the emotion is just dumb luck.
NOGUEIRA: [Laughs] Yeah, it’s dumb luck what Milly does. For sure.

20 Best Prime Video Shows to Watch (June 2026): ‘Off Campus,’ ‘Spider-Noir’ and More
One of Prime Video’s most-watched shows, The Boys, recently ended in May, but the streamer isn’t sitting on the sidelines.
The platform quickly debuted a slew of new series that the Watch With Us crew binge-watched as soon as they dropped. Yes, they’re that good.
At the top of our list of the best Prime Video shows you should watch in June is Spider-Noir, a wildly inventive take on a Spider-Man-inspired character starring Nicolas Cage.
We also recommend watching Off Campus, a YA romance that’s like Heated Rivalry, only straighter and with more hockey.

9. Accessory Power: We’re already dreaming up all the summer outings worthy of this linen-smocked high‑waist short and roomy tank set. The luxe linen set looks stunning with everything from woven bags and strappy sandals to minimalist accessories that nail that quiet‑luxury vibe.
10. Country-Club Polish: Keep it pared down and polished in this linen button-up shirt and shorts set from Walmart. With options like black and khaki, the neutral tones make it a style you’ll reach for summer after summer.
11. Simple & Chic: For anyone who usually avoids spaghetti straps, this one’s the exception. The linen top and shorts set is a poolside‑to‑relaxed‑dinner pick that brings understated polish everywhere you go.
12. Bra-Friendly Fit: Chic with a flirty, side-slit top, this roomy linen pants set is a summer-ready staple we’ll be packing for our next getaway. The best part: you can rock a strapless bra without it peeking through thanks to the clever cut.
13. Work Ready: Designed with a pleated pant and fitted, button‑up vest, this polished linen set isn’t just something we’d wear on vacation — we’d be bold enough to rock it at the office, too.
14. Easy Everyday: For that fuss-free but still fashionable ensemble, don’t miss this drawstring-waist linen shorts set. With a cozy elastic waist, the wear-anywhere set is just as ready for school drop-offs as it is casual dinners out.
15. Lounge to Luxe: A playful-but-poised colorblock contrast makes this summer set stand out from your monochrome linen two-piece sets. Featured in stand-out hues like hunter green and wine red, it’s elevated without trying too hard.
16. Button-Up Beauty: Instead of the predictable oversized fit, this tailored linen set has a sharp, sophisticated silhouette. Reviewer tip: size up for extra ease throughout the whole outfit.
17. Make It Your Own: Made with a mix of cotton and linen, this linen‑blend shorts set is breezy and sumptuously soft. It’s perfect for those unrelenting summer days ahead, where comfort and polish are both required.
