Since going public with their relationship, Alan and Emma have opened up about their dynamic — and what they love most about each other.

“I think what I love most about Alan is we are very different and I need someone who is — this is going to sound very unromantic — but he is so practical and logical thinking. Alan noted that Emma “loves to learn,” which resonates with him. “I’m somebody that’s so attracted to passion and growth and wanting to be better. Peter Jackson’s Acclaimed Sci-Fi Sensation Moves to Free Streaming

Published

on

A man hiding in a field of wheat in District-9

When Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight was seemingly snubbed at the Oscars, especially in the Best Picture and Best Director categories, the Academy made sweeping changes to its nominations process. It increased the nomination pool for the Best Picture category to a maximum of 10, opening the door for mainstream hits such as The Dark Knight. The very next year, James Cameron’s Avatar benefited from this rule change, scoring a Best Picture nod as the representative for blockbuster cinema. It faced off in a memorable David-versus-Goliath showdown against Kathryn Bigelow’s small-budget dramatic war thriller The Hurt Locker. But there was another mainstream genre hit that scored a Best Picture nomination in the same year, and now it’s on its way to a free streaming platform amid rumblings of a sequel.

The movie in question was released in 2009 and produced by Peter Jackson. The Oscar-winning director behind The Lord of the Rings trilogy was a fan of the South African short film upon which the feature was based. The movie emerged as a word-of-mouth hit, grossing more than $210 million worldwide against a reported budget of $30 million. In addition to its Best Picture nomination, it was also nominated in three more categories and acclaimed for its depiction of South Africa’s Apartheid era in a sci-fi context.

Your Fate Has Been Calculated
You’d Survive In…

Your answers point to the world your instincts were built for. This is the universe your temperament, your survival instincts, and your particular brand of stubbornness were made for.

The Resistance, Zion

The Matrix

You took the red pill a long time ago — probably before anyone offered it to you. You’re a systems thinker who can’t help but notice the seams in things.

  • You’re drawn to understanding how the system works before figuring out how to break it.
  • You’d find the Resistance, or it would find you — your instinct for spotting constructed realities is the machines’ worst nightmare.
  • You function best when you have access to information and the freedom to act on it.
  • The Matrix built an airtight prison. You’d be the one probing the walls for the door.

The Wasteland

Mad Max

The wasteland doesn’t reward the clever or the well-connected — it rewards those who are hard to kill and harder to break. That’s you.

  • You don’t need comfort, community, or a cause larger than the next horizon.
  • You need a vehicle, a clear threat, and enough fuel to outrun it — and you’re good at all three.
  • You are unsentimental enough to survive that world, and decent enough — just barely — to be something more than another raider.
  • In the wasteland, that distinction is everything.

Los Angeles, 2049

Blade Runner

You’d survive here because you know how to exist in moral grey areas without losing yourself completely.

  • You read people accurately, keep your circle small, and ask the questions others prefer not to answer.
  • In a city where humanity is a legal designation rather than a feeling, you hold onto something that keeps you functional.
  • You’re not a hero. But you’re not lost, either.
  • In Blade Runner’s world, that distinction is everything.

Arrakis

Dune

Arrakis is the most hostile environment in the known universe — and you are precisely the kind of person it rewards.

  • Patience, discipline, and political awareness are your core strengths — and on Arrakis, they’re survival tools.
  • You understand that the long game matters more than any single victory.
  • Others come to Dune and are consumed by it. You’d learn its logic and earn its respect.
  • In time, you wouldn’t just survive Arrakis — you’d begin to reshape it.

A Galaxy Far, Far Away

Star Wars

The galaxy far, far away is vast, loud, and in a constant state of violent political upheaval — and you wouldn’t have it any other way.

  • You find meaning in being part of something larger than yourself — a cause, a crew, a rebellion.
  • You’d gravitate toward the Rebellion, or the fringes, or whatever pocket of the galaxy still believes the Empire’s grip can be broken.
  • You fight — not because you have to, but because standing aside isn’t something you’re capable of.
  • In Star Wars, that willingness is what makes all the difference.

Here’s Where You Can Watch the Sci-Fi Sensation for Free

We’re talking, of course, about District 9, director Neill Blomkamp’s acclaimed feature debut based on his own short. Starring Sharlto Copley, the movie now holds a “Certified Fresh” 90% score on the aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, where the consensus reads, “Technically brilliant and emotionally wrenching, District 9 has action, imagination, and all the elements of a thoroughly entertaining science-fiction classic.” Blomkamp was instantly hailed as Hollywood’s next big thing, but his subsequent sci-fi movies didn’t exactly break out like District 9 had. There have long been rumors of a District 10, although no firm updates have emerged in recent years. You can watch District 9 on Pluto TV starting August 1, and stay tuned to Collider for more updates.

Lioness Stars Hint Scheduling Issues Caused Season 3 Change

Published

on

LIONESS

Season 3 of Taylor Sheridan‘s Lioness looks different after “scheduling issues” led to some changes — including a surprising story line.

During the premiere on Sunday, August 2, the show pivoted away from introducing a new Lioness into the fold. Instead, the team has a new mission when Joe (Zoe Saldaña) is abducted. The twist? She was nearly taken six months prior, which introduces a dual timeline that will play out the rest of the season.

“I will say I had to ask them for a chart of the time because sometimes I thought I would be in one place and then the clothes wouldn’t match where I thought that we were,” Laysla De Oliveira exclusively told Us about how the Paramount+ series will jump back and forth.

De Oliveira, 34, who plays Cruz, sometimes struggled with differentiating where each scene was, adding, “I want to shout out the wardrobe team because that’s very hard to do when you’re shooting out of order and so that also helped me connect with the timeline that we were in.”

Lioness is returning for a third season — but is every cast member coming back? Created by Taylor Sheridan, the hit Paramount+ series is a spy thriller that follows the leader of a CIA team that enlists female operatives — known as Lionesses — to go undercover in the war on terror. The first two […]

Jill Wagner, meanwhile, explained what inspired the shakeup.

“I know that behind the scenes we were dealing with some scheduling issues with some of the characters,” she told Us. “So I was even talking to Taylor and I was like, ‘How are you going to get around this?’ And he’s so brilliant. That’s when he came up with, ‘Oh, we’re just going to move. We’re going to play with time.’”

Created by Sheridan, 56, the hit Paramount+ series is a spy thriller that follows the leader of a CIA team that enlists female operatives — known as Lionesses — to go undercover in the war on terror.

The first two seasons followed Joe (Saldaña) as she recruited Cruz (De Oliveira) and Josie (Genesis Rodriguez) to go undercover. A season 2 mission put the team at risk that nearly ended in a group sacrifice.

Season 3 will raise the stakes as viewers jump back and forth from the past to the present.

“It was just a lot more work. When you don’t have something that falls in a natural progression chronologically, you’re challenged more as an actor to know exactly where you are,” Michael Kelly, who plays CIA Deputy Director of Operations Byron Westfield on the series, told Us. “You have to know that this has happened already and now we’re flashing back and flashing forward. It’s difficult and you’ve really got to.”

He continued: “I’m very proud to say that it was pretty smooth because this whole cast brings 110 percent at all times. It’s the way it was and it’s the way it stayed. It’s pretty rare in the third season of a show for your whole cast to be on the same page of we’re going to make this f**king awesome. Everyone wants it to be as good as it can be and work so hard. It’s great because you’re proud of what you’re doing.”

Viewers will also get to spend more time with the ensemble cast while awaiting updates on Joe’s whereabouts. Wagner, 47, and De Oliveira weighed in on how their characters will be utilized while praising Sheridan for his hard work.

“Taylor writes these characters — whether they’re male or female. He just writes strong characters,” Wagner told Us. “So if you are lucky enough to get to say his words — whether you’re a woman or a man — is irrelevant to me.”

Sheridan then created prequels 1883 and 1923, as well as […]

Wagner was thrilled at the chance to bring a character written by Sheridan to life, saying, “I think he’s so good at at writing these interesting and complex characters. It’s a gift to get to say his words.”

De Oliveira couldn’t help but agree.

“Cruz has just expanded me artistically and in my personal life too. I really knew her heart but she’s completely different from me,” the actress not. “So I had to learn how to go to the gym. I had to learn how to yeah hold a gun. Like it was so many new things all at once that it was just a beautiful present for me.”

Filming Lioness changed De Oliveira for the better.

“She’s really taught me how to look at things differently and let me give more things a try,” she continued. “I can be scared to try something because I haven’t done it before but Taylor didn’t give me an option. That has also translated to my everyday choices.”

10 Perfect Netflix Shows With 5 Seasons or Less

Published

on

Hilda from the Netflix animated series with her friend

Sometimes, TV shows, especially those on streaming platforms like Netflix, don’t require ten long seasons to feel memorable, perfect, or complete. A shorter run can actually help keep a series focused, avoid unnecessary fillers, and protect its strongest ideas. Whether it’s animated standouts, miniseries, historical dramas, emotional romances, or planned mysteries, many brilliant shows on Netflix that use five or fewer seasons deliver quite the memorable story.

Netflix series like the incredible teen drama Heartstopper, which uses its brief run to tell a almost sickeningly adorable tale about first love, and the action-packed period drama, The Last Kingdom, which builds a sweeping saga around war, loyalty power, and one man’s search for belonging, are two of the clearest examples of shows that use five seasons or less to deliver a strong and satisfyingly complete story. Compiled on this list are great Netflix series that effortlessly prove the streaming platform’s shorter shows can feel just as expansive without overstaying their welcome, each standing as a truly perfect watch.

The Last Kingdom is five seasons of pure entertainment that wields the aura of a much larger series.

‘One Day’ (2024)

This captivating Netflix drama is just as devastating as it is woefully underrated. One Day follows the relationship evolution of Emma Morley (Ambika Mod) and Dexter Mayhew (Leo Woodall) on the same day each year after their graduation.

Despite its compact structure, One Day feels expansive. Its single season covers a wide emotional span, feeling complete even with its format. The show’s limited story is far from the conventional romance of the will-they-won’t-they trope, instead asking what love is meant to look like when people keep evolving —or devolving—into new versions of themselves while carrying old attachments forward. One Day is genuine perfection that truly delivers on all fronts, standing as a masterpiece with a limited run time that gives its emotional journey real force.

The Queen’s Gambit is a limited series on Netflix that stands as one of the clearest examples of a show that feels genuinely perfect because it knows exactly what to do with its story. The show centers on Beth Harmon (Anya Taylor-Joy)as she moves from a difficult childhood into the competitive world of chess, where talent, ambition, addiction, and isolation shape her rise to the top.

The Queen’s Gambit is an easy series to place on this list of Netflix greats with minimal seasons. The show sparked an insane global obsession with the game of chess, becoming one of the streaming platform’s most impactful hits. The Queen’s Gambit makes sure that its short run is not a limitation, masterfully delivering a story that feels both polished and complete. The show’s amazing story never loses sight of its protagonist amid its spectacle, making it one of Netflix’s greatest hits with just a single season under its belt.

Adolescence is a rather powerful example of one of Netflix’s most perfect series with just a limited amount of time. The series centers around the aftermath of a shocking crime involving teen Jamie Miller (Owen Cooper), who is accused of murdering a schoolmate, and then focuses on the collapse of certainty around him.

With its focused storytelling and killer nerve, Adolescence stands strong as one of Netflix’s standout series that definitely earns its place among the other fantastic shows on this list. Viewers have often praised the series for its emotional realism and the consistent lack of reliance on easy twists. Adolescence masterfully weaponizes intimacy, dread, and cadence, making each episode of the limited series feel like a confrontation nobody in the story is really ready to face.

Dark is a German sci-fi mystery that uses its limited run to feel carefully planned, allowing its puzzle of a plot to grow without losing control of the story. The series is set in the town of Winden, where children begin to disappear, sparking the unraveling of a complicated web of timelines, secrets, families, and repeated tragedies.

Dark is incredibly complex, and surprisingly, even with its short runtime, it masterfully connects its many mysteries and timelines into a deeply satisfying story. Across three excellent seasons, the show proves it’s pretty perfect, using its emotional payoff and total formal control to deliver an excellent viewing experience. Dark is undeniably one of Netflix’s best sci-fi watches with three captivating seasons that effortlessly showcase that perfection doesn’t require a long-drawn-out story.

Arcane is a Netflix animated icon that stands as one of the most impressive short-run achievements on the platform, feeling rather large without needing more than a few seasons. Set between the wealthy city of Piltover and the oppressed underground of Zaun, the show follows sister Vi (Hailee Steinfeld) and Jinx (Ella Purnell) as they move from simple orphans to symbols of a social war.

Arcane wields a rare balance that allows for heartfelt character drama and spectacle to thrive side by side. The series is genuinely astonishing in both story and animation. It isn’t just expensive-looking; in fact, Arcane uses its visual flourishes to give more depth to its worldbuilding and characters rather than just distract from them. Fans frequently dub the series the perfect watch despite its compact seasons, lauding it as a fantastic video game adaptation that stays undeniably good because its emotional conflicts aren’t ever trapped inside its lore.

In the City Star Danielle Olivera Gives Update on Preemie Son

Published

Everything to Know About RHOSLC Alum Jen Shah's Legal Drama

In the City star Danielle Olivera is sharing an update on her preemie son Aidan amid his continued neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) stay.

“As of today he’s 6lbs, 15 oz and 20.5 inches long,” Danielle, 37, wrote over a series of photos of her son in the NICU on Saturday, August 1, sharing that her son is 42 days old or, if she was still pregnant, would be 34 weeks and 5 days gestational age. “Fully on room air so no more CPAP bubble. He gets WAY more cuddles now.”

She continued, “Started oral feeds to gradually wean him off the feeding tube. Traded his preemie diapers in for newborn size. Loves his amazing nurses who make him feel special and take such good care of him. Currently Daddy’s twin.”

Danielle shared the first photo of her son, Aidan Santos Heavy, back on July 18, confirming that he had arrived early at just 28 weeks and 5 days gestation, requiring a significant NICU stay.

“Already making his own rules,” she wrote via Instagram at the time, sharing a photo of her son resting in a NICU isolette. “Tiny, mighty and clearly not interested in our timeline.”

Danielle’s boyfriend, Eoin Heavy, had previously revealed that their son had arrived 10 weeks early, joking that baby boy Aidan would be “heading to summer camp at NICU” for approximately three months.

When sharing the first photo of her son, Danielle also gave fans a quick update on his condition.

“He’s thriving at @stonybrookmedicine NICU and getting stronger every day while keeping Mom and Dad on our toes,” she wrote at the time. “To the incredible NICU team at Stony Brook, our family and friends, and every NICU mom who’s reached out with love, advice and hope — thank you. You’ve carried us through more than you’ll ever know.”

In her latest update, Danielle once again thanked her fans and followers for their support – while also sharing that the NICU has made it possible for the proud mom and dad to check in on their little one from afar.

“So thankful we’re able to see him when we’re not there,” she wrote over what appeared to be a screenshot of a live feed that allows Danielle to see her son as he’s swaddled and laying down in an isolette.

“Thank you all for your support,” she added. “Keep you posted on when we’re able to take him home! So proud of our smiley little legend.”

Sheriff Shares Message to Guthries After Nancy’s Disappearance

Published

Sheriff Chris Nanos Reacts to Latest Ransom Letters in Ongoing Nancy Guthrie Case

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos is sending a message to Nancy Guthrie’s family, including Today’s Savannah Guthrie, six months after her abduction.

“We’re still here. We’re not going away. If you could just see the team working, you’d see the energy, the concern. They’re fired up and we will continue to work this case hard,” Nanos said in a video shared on Saturday, August 1, per the official Pima County Sheriff’s Department social media account, when asked if he had a message for the matriarch’s family.

Nancy was taken from her home in Arizona six months ago, igniting an investigation by multiple law enforcement agencies, including the FBI. In the clip posted on Saturday, Nanos reiterated that the investigation into Nancy’s disappearance is “very active” despite authorities having zero leads or suspects.

“We’ve got a lot of work ahead of us,” he said. “We’ve done a lot of work but we still have more. Not just in DNA — labs across the country are working together — but in forensics, analysis of thousands and thousands of videos, photos. And we also have still tens of thousands of tips that come in and we [are] actively working on. It’s a very active investigation.”

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos is weighing in on the latest ransom notes making headlines in the ongoing search for Today coanchor Savannah Guthrie’s mom, Nancy Guthrie. “I think the FBI has done a number of arrests for false or fake ransom notes,” Nanos shared during a Friday, June 26, appearance on Arizona radio station […]

Nanos also went on to explain the two reasons why the sheriff’s department chose to release alleged ransom notes six months before Nancy was taken.

“One, it’s out there. [The] media has covered some of this. We just saw what was being said and we felt like we need[ed] to put something out that’s really accurate. This was the time. Investigators felt like there [were] a number of pieces of information in these notes that it just might jar someone to say, ‘I’ve heard that.’ Or, the wording, the style of the writing, might jog somebody to kind of think about, ‘Who would have written this? How was this done?’” he said.

“I think anybody who reads them — my investigators, we look at it — and clearly there’s things in there that are very concerning to our investigative team. We hope that by releasing the actual note, we will get some response from the community,” Nanos explained, adding that the Guthrie family “absolutely” knew about their plan to release the message.

Since Nancy’s disappearance, authorities have released Nest doorbell footage of a masked figure approaching her home. No suspects have been named. Authorities and the Guthrie family are offering significant monetary rewards to anyone who can give them any credible leads.

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos is sharing more details about when Savannah Guthrie’s family was cleared in the case of her missing mom, Nancy Guthrie. Speaking to local Tucson’s KOLD 13 News on Monday, February 16, Nanos confirmed that Guthrie family members were ruled out as suspects “in the first few days” after Nancy’s disappearance, […]

“A number of issues have been brought up about people being cleared of this investigation,” Nanos said. “We served a few search warrants. We talked to individuals and we move on because if the evidence is there, we continue that path. But that doesn’t mean those individuals are cleared. It just means that we met with them because we felt like there was a need. There was probable cause, established through evidence, tips, whatever, and presented to the court and we went on.”

He continued, “Does that mean those individuals are cleared? Not necessarily. It just means that we took a look at something that was concerning to us and now the evidence takes us elsewhere. But more to that point, I can’t be more clear. I said this earlier on and I say it again. The Guthrie family has not and have not been suspects in this investigation. We talked with them, worked with them. They are not suspects. They are victims. Victims of a very horrific crime.”

Savannah, for her part, issued a public plea to bring Nancy home as the case hit the six month mark.

“We are begging for help. We are desperate. We need someone to come forward. Someone knows something. Someone suspects something. Someone recognizes the writing in the ransom demand notes. Someone has noticed something different, strange, troubling or just unusual — perhaps with someone they deeply love. Perhaps they are afraid to come forward. Perhaps they are conflicted. Perhaps they are angry or upset for being in this situation,” Savannah wrote, in part, via Instagram on Saturday. “There is a way out — to tell what you know. You can do so anonymously. The reward is available. There is a way to end this situation and do the right thing.”

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos is sharing an update on his communication with Nancy Guthrie’s family. More than 100 days after Savannah Guthrie’s mom was reported missing in Tucson, Arizona, Nanos revealed to People that “I personally am not” in touch with the family. Instead, ongoing contact with Nancy’s relatives is handled through other investigators […]

Savannah went on to note that her family is “real people, facing real grief, doing the best we can, and counting our many blessings along the way — most especially the prayers and love from good people, which we feel deeply.”

“We need your prayers, we need your kindness. We need the good to be stronger than the evil. If you are following this story for entertainment or for profit, you are not on her side – you are part of the harm perpetrated against her,” she wrote. “We will never stop looking for answers – and we will never stop looking for the light. Alexa Penavega Says Stillborn Daughter Had Heartbeat

Alexa PenaVega ultimately found purpose in the wake of her late daughter Indy’s stillbirth.

“Two years ago, we lost our daughter at birth. She was adorable, just chunky, beautiful. It was a full-term stillbirth,” PenaVega, 37, recalled on the Thursday, July 30, episode of the “Dear Future Husband” podcast. “Never in your wildest dreams would you ever imagine walking

through that ever, and it’s going to sound crazy, but it was such a gift.”

Alexa and her husband, Big Time Rush singer Carlos PenaVega, announced in 2024 that their fourth child was born sleeping. (Alexa and Carlos, 36, also share sons Ocean, 9, and Kingston, 7, and daughter Rio, 5.)

Paul Archuleta/Getty Images Alexa PenaVega is opening up about experiencing a stillbirth while expecting a daughter with husband Carlos PenaVega. “Indy was a surprise loss. Nobody was expecting it,” Alexa, 36, said in an interview with Streams Studio published on Tuesday, January 28. “We had a heartbeat two minutes up until delivery.” When Alexa found […]

“Indy’s life is so full. She may be in heaven, but, like, she is so full,” Alexa noted to podcast host Christian Bevere. “I didn’t grow up thinking about death, you know, ‘cause it’s scary. Death has lost its sting. We have felt the valley, and I think we feared the valley so much because everyone told us to fear the valley.”

She continued, “But in the valley with God, there are diamonds. The valley is loaded with rubies and gold and gems and the things that everyone is so afraid to go get, you know, and here we are, like, swimming in luxury in the worst time of our lives because He was just there for us.”

Alexa and Carlos, in particular, found solace in their faith following Indy’s death.

“We lost her on a Saturday morning and Sunday, the next day, my husband’s like, ‘How are you doing?’ [He was] just trying to check in with me and be an amazing husband, but we’re both equally just hurting,” the Spy Kids actress recalled of Carlos’ support. “[He] had his peace immediately. It’s a weird space to be in like, total peace but total pain. I’m like, ‘I really have to go to church.’”

Alexa PenaVega got emotionally candid on Friday, June 21, when she opened up about the loss of her fourth child. “It hurt, it sucked and it was awful. Standing in church one-day postpartum, Alexa held hands with the musician as they hung onto every word of the preacher’s sermon.

“We just begin to just cry uncontrollably uncontrollably. It wasn’t loud,” she recalled on Thursday. “It was like it was just us in our own little world, our hands are raised and we’re worshipping.”

In the months and years since grieving the stillbirth, Alexa and Carlos held onto their relationship even more.

“When her loss happened, it was still a big blow, but [God’s] peace was so evident and so all over our lives, and the way he used her life to ignite our family,” Alexa stated. “I hear about these couples who end up breaking up after the loss of a child and it hurts my heart so much because, for us, it ignited us. It was, like, the fan to the flame that [made us] so much more intentional with each other. Walls were broken.”

New Disturbing Details About Liam Payne’s Final Hours Revealed

Published

on

Liam Payne’s behavior reportedly grew increasingly erratic during the final hours of his life, with newly obtained witness statements offering one of the most detailed accounts yet of what unfolded before his fatal fall. Two women who spent several hours with the former One Direction singer on October 16, 2024, described the condition of his Buenos Aires hotel room, his alleged substance use, and the troubling escalation they witnessed before leaving shortly before 4 p.m. Payne died just 67 minutes later after falling from the balcony of his third-floor room at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel. He was 31.

According to sworn statements obtained by the Daily Mail, Aldana Serrano and Lucila Goitea arrived at the CasaSur Palermo at approximately 11:30 a.m. after Payne allegedly contacted Serrano through an escort website. Serrano initially questioned whether she was actually communicating with the world-famous singer and reportedly asked him to prove his identity.

“Liam contacted me via WhatsApp today (October 16, 2024) around 11 am. The whole time he spoke to me in English. He told me who he was and he sent me a video of him. The video wasn’t current; it was him singing,” she told investigators. “He also sent me pictures of him which he took while he was in bed, before we got there.”

The hotel reportedly collected the women’s identification before allowing them to enter room 310, enabling authorities to locate them quickly following Payne’s death. “He was alone in his room. He greeted us warmly and I asked him for payment. We tried to communicate, but it was difficult because he only spoke English and I only Spanish,” Serrano recalled.

The group allegedly relied on a translation application to communicate.

Witness Described Drugs And Alcohol Inside The Room

The women claimed Payne ordered champagne for them and two bottles of Johnnie Walker Black Label whisky for himself. Goitea also alleged that they observed him handling a substance with pieces of tinfoil.

“We saw that he was doing something like crystal meth with bits of tinfoil,” she claimed. “He asked us to get him some drugs, but we didn’t know where to get it because we’re not into that. He started scrounging in the tinfoil bits he had.”

The witness described Payne’s room as heavily disordered, with clothing and drug paraphernalia allegedly scattered throughout the space. “It was a mess. There was tinfoil everywhere with traces of drugs. A drawer was full of it, there was more burned tinfoil on the couch… a lot of clothes thrown around… he smelled of alcohol,” she said.

Toxicology reports later found cocaine, alcohol, and the sedative Klonopin in Payne’s system.

Liam Payne Sang His Music Before His Behavior Changed

Despite the room’s troubling condition, Goitea recalled a time when Payne played music for the women and sang some of his own songs. “He showed us the songs he was working on, then he got bad,” she told investigators.

After approximately two hours, the women reportedly asked Payne for the money they said he had promised them. The disagreement over payment allegedly marked a dramatic shift in his behavior. Payne reportedly offered them his gold Rolex, but the women said they wanted to be paid with money. According to their statements, the singer then smashed the watch and struck the television in his room.

“He removed his watch and flung it against the wall and broke it. He told us he could get ten of those,” Serrano claimed. “Then he started talking in English to someone on the phone and refused to give us his wiring information. I told him we were leaving, he got angry and punched the TV three times. He wanted to rip it open.”

Singer Reportedly Begged The Women To Remain

The women eventually went down to the hotel lobby, where staff reportedly attempted to help resolve the payment disagreement. While waiting, Payne allegedly paced through the hotel and repeatedly traveled between the lobby and his room.

At one point, Serrano said he spoke about his son, Bear, whom he shared with singer Cheryl. “Liam came down again. He told me he had a seven-year-old son too, that money didn’t make him happy,” she recalled.

The women briefly left the hotel before returning because Goitea had forgotten some of her belongings in Payne’s room. When they went upstairs to retrieve them, Payne allegedly apologized and asked them not to leave.

“We went up to the room with Liam and the bag was on his coffee table. I went to the bathroom and heard him apologizing to Aldana. He got down on his knees and apologized for giving us a bad time,” Goitea said. “He wanted us to stay in his room.”

Serrano offered a similar account, telling investigators, “He removed his jacket, got on his knees and apologized to me. He asked us to stay, and we told him no. He got angry.”

The women reportedly left shortly before 4 p.m. after ensuring the hotel’s front desk had their information.

CCTV footage reportedly showed Payne’s friend Roger Nores arriving at the hotel moments after the women departed. Nores spoke with the singer in the lobby before leaving, but Payne’s behavior allegedly remained erratic. At one point, another hotel guest reportedly heard Payne yell, “I used to be in a boy band that’s why I’m so f-cked up!”

A separate witness claimed the singer became upset by something on his computer before throwing it to the floor and yelling, “F-ck this sh-t.”

At 4:54 p.m., approximately 13 minutes before his death, surveillance footage reportedly captured three hotel employees carrying an apparently unconscious Payne through the lobby and returning him to his room. Receptionist Esteban Grassi subsequently contacted emergency services, warning that Payne appeared to be intoxicated and that staff feared for his safety because the room had a balcony.

Payne fell to his death at 5:07 p.m. Investigators ultimately determined that the singer was likely in a state of semi or total unconsciousness when he fell due to the combination of substances in his system.

The Women Became Critical Witnesses In The Investigation

Serrano and Goitea reportedly learned of Payne’s death after returning to their apartment and seeing the news on social media. Police contacted them within hours, and both women agreed to give sworn statements. Investigators said they cooperated fully, with both reportedly handing over their phones voluntarily.

A source close to the investigation emphasized the importance of their accounts, explaining, “These sworn statements by the women who were in the room with him on the day he died is the closest we will ever get to the truth about what happened.”

“These statements were given after they spent his last day with him. They were sworn under pain of perjury that same night. They were key witnesses, in many ways the most important. Their story is invaluable in piecing together what really happened to Liam,” the source added.
