Rita Wilson Discovers Shocking Family Secret
Rita Wilson thought she knew her family story, until a shocking discovery changed everything.
While exploring her roots for a documentary, the actress uncovered a hidden chapter about her late father that had never been shared during his lifetime.
What she learned left her emotional, confused, and full of questions, as it revealed a past marked by loss, secrecy, and resilience that quietly shaped the man she knew growing up.
Rita Wilson opened up about a deeply personal revelation during an appearance on the “How to Fail With Elizabeth Day” podcast, where she shared how she discovered her father once had another family before coming to America.
Her father, Allan Wilson, originally named Hassan Halilov Ibrahimoff, had lived a very different life in Bulgaria before immigrating in 1949.
Wilson explained that she uncovered the truth while filming “Who Do You Think You Are?” in 2012.
While many episodes trace ancestry across generations, hers took a different direction.
“What they found with my dad was that his story was so shocking and unusual that they stuck with his story,” the “Sleepless in Seattle” star recalled. That story included a marriage and a child she had never known existed.
Rita Confronts A Painful Family Loss

As she learned more, Rita Wilson discovered that her father’s first wife, Alice, died during childbirth, and their son, Emil, passed away just four months later due to an infection.
The timeline stunned her, especially because she had grown up without any knowledge of this tragedy.
She recalled asking, “Am I going to meet someone? Am I going to meet a family?” only to be told there was no one left to meet.
The 69-year-old admitted the revelation was difficult to process, saying, “I still can’t get over that,” while also reflecting on the silence that followed.
“He never said anything to us. I wish I could have talked to him about that,” Wilson shared.
She also noted how poverty may have played a role in the tragedy, explaining, “It was right after the war [in] Bulgaria. I don’t know how they would have afforded formula or something, but I’m sure they made ways.”
Even so, she clarified that the baby “didn’t die from starvation,” but from an infection.
Rita Wilson Reflects On The Strange Family Coincidences

As Wilson processed the revelation, she began noticing eerie connections within her own family.
Her nephew and her youngest son both share the same birthday as her father’s late son, December 26, something she described as deeply unsettling.
“This is where it gets weird. My sister’s firstborn child was born on December 26, and my youngest son was born on December 26,” she shared.
The coincidence made her think about her father in a new way, imagining the quiet memories he may have carried each year.
She reflected on how he celebrated those birthdays while privately remembering Emil, saying it made her see his life with a new level of empathy.
Rita Reflects On A Childhood Shaped By Silence And Strength

Rita Wilson also spoke about the cultural and familial tendencies that may have contributed to the secrecy.
She explained that her Greek Orthodox upbringing placed a strong emphasis on privacy, saying her family “kept things so private.”
Looking back, she expressed a desire for more openness, adding, “I think if we were all more open with each other, then we all can see that we’re all in the same boat.”
Despite the hidden past, the “Jingle All The Way” star spoke with admiration about her parents and the life they built together after her father arrived in the United States.
He later married her mother, Dorothy, and together they raised their children in Los Angeles with strong values rooted in hard work and resilience.
She described them as “uneducated, but they were incredibly smart and incredibly intuitive and very hardworking [and had] incredible values.”
Rita credited her father for providing stability, noting that he supported the family as a bartender, bought a home, and lived debt-free.
She also highlighted their long marriage, sharing that her parents were together for 59 years and created a loving, stable home.
Rita Wilson Shares Emotional Tributes And Life Today

Over the years, Rita has continued to honor her parents through heartfelt tributes.
In one message she shared in 2024, she wrote per the Daily Mail, “Dad. Happy Heaven Birthday. You are so missed. I am so grateful for all you taught me about courage, hard work, devotion to family, generosity of spirit.”
She also reflected on his journey from Bulgaria, writing, “My dad escaped communist Bulgaria for a life of freedom in America. His vision and courage continue to inspire me.”
She has also paid tribute to her mother, calling her “an extraordinary woman” and expressing gratitude for the love she received growing up.
Today, Rita continues to balance her personal reflections with her career and family life. She has been married to Tom Hanks since 1988, and together they share two sons, while also raising Hanks’ children from his previous marriage.Looking ahead, Rita remains active in her work, with her upcoming film “Start Without Me” and her sixth studio album “Sound of a Woman” set for release.

ABC News Exposes a Social Media Messiah in ‘The Cult of NatureBoy’ Trailer [Exclusive]
Deep in the rain forests of Costa Rica is a commune run by a man known as Natureboy. Is it an off-the-grid utopia, or a modern-day cult compound? You can decide after watching the ABC News Studios docuseries The Cult of NatureBoy, which will premiere on Hulu on April 28. Collider is proud to exclusively present the first trailer for the series.
In the trailer, we’re introduced to Eligio Bishop, alias NatureBoy. With his charm and charisma, he’s accumulated a sizable following on social media. Starting in 2016, he started to recruit his followers into a movement called Carbon Nation, which intended to create a Black utopia in a remote region of Costa Rica, rejecting technology and society for a new way of living. However, as former members of Carbon Nation attest to in the trailer, it was no paradise. According to them, Bishop became increasingly violent and unstable, proclaiming himself a messiah.
The trailer features extensive footage from the group’s home base, which becomes increasingly disturbing as the series’ four episodes unfold. Eventually, online sleuths and the authorities bring the reign of NatureBoy to its shocking conclusion. You’ll see it all unfold for yourself when you tune into The Cult of NatureBoy on Hulu next week.

Apple TV’s Next Sci-Fi Masterpiece Releases Final Trailer Ahead of May 29 Debut
Apple TV is heading back into the For All Mankind universe, but this time it’s doing it from the other side of the space race. Star City has always had a pretty juicy hook: take the alt-history setup that powered one of Apple’s best sci-fi dramas and shift the focus behind the Iron Curtain, where every victory comes with paranoia baked into it. That alone was enough to make the spin-off interesting, but the final trailer makes it look even sharper than expected. Instead of just feeling like more of the same, Star City seems to be leaning into espionage, surveillance, and the human cost of trying to win history at any cost.
Apple officially debuted the trailer for the eight-episode series and confirmed that Star City will premiere globally on Friday, May 29, 2026, with its first two episodes. After that, one new episode will roll out every Friday through July 10. The show comes from Ben Nedivi, Matt Wolpert, and Ronald D. Moore, with Wolpert and Nedivi serving as showrunners and executive producers alongside Moore, Maril Davis, Andrew Chambliss, and Steve Oster. Sony Pictures Television is producing the series for Apple TV. The official synopsis states:
“Star City” is a propulsive paranoid thriller that takes us back to the key moment in the alt-history retelling of the space race – when the Soviet Union became the first nation to put a man on the moon. But this time, we explore the story from behind the Iron Curtain, showing the lives of the cosmonauts, the engineers, and the intelligence officers embedded among them in the Soviet space program, and the risks they all took to propel humankind forward.
Who Is in ‘Star City’?
The cast is led by Rhys Ifans (House of the Dragon, Notting Hill), Anna Maxwell Martin (Motherland, Line of Duty), Agnes O’Casey (Black Doves, Lies We Tell), Alice Englert (Bad Behaviour, Beautiful Creatures), Solly McLeod (House of the Dragon, The Dead Don’t Hurt), Adam Nagaitis (Chernobyl, The Terror), Ruby Ashbourne Serkis (I, Jack Wright, The Serpent Queen), Josef Davies (Andor, The Bastard Son & The Devil Himself), and Priya Kansara (Bridgerton, Polite Society). It’s a strong cast that blends prestige TV veterans and newer talent, which is the right combination for a show that wants to expand an existing world without just photocopying it.
Star City debuts on Apple TV on May 29.

Sister Wives: Janelle’s New Title Says It All
Sister Wives star Janelle Brown is walking around with a new title today, and it may strike you as odd. But fans of the TLC series know that Janelle has a great sense of humor, so when you see the title assigned to her name, you can’t help but smile.
Sister Wives: For Janelle Brown, It’s All In the Nose
Sister Wives fans follow Janelle Brown as her new life unfolds via her social media posts. Her new Taeda Farms venture should set her up in business for a long time. With her new house built, the ex-second wife of Kody Brown is in the decorating stage of her new abode today.

Now the land at the farm is all set to produce flowers, ones that Janelle plans to sell to make her dream become a productive business. Her love of flowers seemed to play a big part in her new title, as she is the person on top at Taeda Farms.
So for Janelle Brown, it is all in the nose. She is now the official “Flower Smeller,” which shows up on the home page for the farm. But that is just the first of her two titles; she is also the “grass grower.”
It is All in the Family for Janelle
While Janelle Brown is the Flower Smeller and Grass Grower, she needs help, as this is a huge undertaking. The Sister Wives star’s daughter, Maddie Brown Brush is also in business with her mom. She too gets a title at Taeda Farms.
Maddie is referred to as the mover and shaker for the farm, according to Janelle. Maddie’s double titles have her as the “Get It Done Guru” and “Chaos Coordinator.”
Janelle and Maddie are not the only ones with farm titles; Maddie’s husband Caleb Brush sounds as if he earned his the hard way. He is the “Obligatory Volunteer” and “Winging It Guy” at Taeda Farms. Sister Wives fans hope to see this trio in action on upcoming seasons.
Sister Wives: Job Descriptions
“Janelle is our farm’s resident dreamer, planner, and future flower whisperer.” That is the way she is described on the Taeda Farms website. Maddie’s title is also explained. Sister Wives fans see Maddie very much like what her title suggests.
The description continues with “She’s the go-getter behind the scenes, handling everything from ordering seeds to navigating the maze of permits. “And last, but certainly not least, there’s Caleb.

The description for the work he does at the farm is as follows: “Every farm needs a hero, and in our case, that hero is Caleb — though he may not have exactly volunteered for the job.”
But that’s not all. Caleb is also “the guy who magically appears when something heavy needs lifting or something’s broken (which, let’s be honest, is pretty much always). He’s our farm’s designated ‘fixer-upper’ and ‘muscle-for-hire,’ whether he likes it or not.”
Janelle, Maddie & Caleb Set Down Their Roots…
It sounds like Maddie makes sure Janelle’s dream continues to move forward. Plus, she makes things happen. It looks like Caleb gets roped into things. So much so that the home page for Taeda Farms admits this. But from what Maddie and Janelle convey, he’s one heck of a good sport.
When all is said and done, this Sister Wives ex-wife realizes her dream. And she does this with her family by her side helping her do so. Janelle and her family set down roots in North Carolina, not just for themselves but for beautiful flowers that you may one day have on your table at home. And if so, it is likely Taeda Farms “Flower Smeller” had a whiff of them before they started on the journey to your house.
In case you were wondering what Taeda stands for, here it is. The name is inspired by the local pine trees.

The Best Sci-Fi Series of the 2000s Is Finally Back on Streaming
By your command, the best science fiction series of the 2000s is finally coming back to streaming. Initially, it was a controversial reboot of a short-lived but beloved cult classic TV show of the 1970s, but it soon evolved into its own entity. Now, it’s coming to two streaming services, and on one of them, you can watch it for free.
Starting on May 1, the 2000s Sci-Fi Channel reboot of Battlestar Galactica is finally returning to streaming. Thanks to NBCU Global TV Distribution, Pluto TV and Paramount+ will both host the two-part, three-hour miniseries that kicked off the reboot, as well as the four-season series that followed; Pluto TV will show it as part of their free, ad-supported streaming service, with a dedicated Battlestar Galactica channel. They will also stream Battlestar Galactica: The Plan, a movie-length special that features both new footage and reused footage from the miniseries and series to retell the Cylon infiltration from the point of view of the Cylons. Plus, Paramount+ will be the exclusive streaming home of Caprica, the short-lived prequel series that depicted the birth of the marauding robotic Cylons and showed a glimpse of the 12 Colonies before their untimely devastation.
What Is ‘Battlestar Galactica’ About?
A dramatic reimagining of the campy but fondly remembered 1970s TV series, Battlestar Galactica tells the tale of the Twelve Colonies of Kobol, an alliance of human-occupied planets, and the robotic Cylons who destroyed them. The ragtag survivors of the Colonies flee aboard the Galactica, a Battlestar warship that leads a battered civilian fleet on a desperate search for the 13th colony: a legendary world called “Earth.” Captained by William Adama (Edward James Olmos, Blade Runner), and led by newly appointed President Laura Roslin (Mary McDonnell, Independence Day), the remnants of humanity still have to deal with the Cylons.
However, while most of the Cylons resemble the sleek, chrome-plated mechanical marauders of the original series, they also have a secret weapon: a new model of Cylon that can perfectly mimic human beings, like the seductive Number Six (Tricia Helfer, Lucifer). Any one of Galactica‘s crew could be Cylons, including hotshot pilots Starbuck (Katee Sackhoff, The Mandalorian) and Boomer (Grace Park, Hawaii Five-0), shifty scientist Gaius Baltar (James Callis, 12 Monkeys) and even Adama’s son, Lee (Jamie Bamber, Band of Brothers).
The original Battlestar Galactica series was the brainchild of TV impresario Glen A. Larson (Knight Rider), who was inspired by Mormon theology. The reboot was masterminded by Ronald D. Moore (For All Mankind).
Battlestar Galactica will stream on Pluto TV and Paramount+ starting on May 1. Stay tuned to Collider for future updates.

Mia Alario Says West Wilson, Amanda Hung Out Last September
Southern Hospitality’s Mia Alario is adding to the ongoing intrigue surrounding the newfound romance between Summer House stars West Wilson and Amanda Batula.
During a Wednesday, April 22, appearance on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen, Mia, 28, said she went on a date with West, 31, last September, but he had been hanging out with Amanda, 34, beforehand.
“I was cast in that dragnet that he threw across New York City,” Mia said of her brief courtship with West.
She then added, “Looking back at it, it was still a fun time. I will say it was a fun time. Did I know his morale? No.”
According to Mia, before their date, West was drinking with Amanda in his apartment. In January, Amanda announced her separation from husband Kyle Cooke after four years of marriage.
“I met Amanda at BravoCon and she actually told me that they pregamed our date at his apartment,” Mia claimed. “At the time, I was like, ‘Oh, you’re such a good friend. That sounds like such a good time.’”
Mia continued, “She was like, ‘Oh, I gave him some advice and some tips.’ I was like, girl, did we get the same tip or what? Damn. Now looking back at it, it’s a messy situation and I don’t want any part of that at all.”
West and Amanda went public with their burgeoning relationship in March, blindsiding Bravo fans and their fellow Summer House costars. Since breaking the news, there has been much speculation about the timeline of their relationship, particularly when they began dating.
During a Monday, April 20, appearance on the “Show Me Something” podcast, West denied that he and Amanda were in relationships when things turned romantic between them. (West previously dated costar Ciara Miller, one of Amanda’s friends.)
“There was no overlap,” he said, adding that he and Amanda “realized things were maybe a little bit serious” in February.
He said, “I know there’s a thousand different theories on the internet right now, but that is one thing that for sure did not happen. Everyone was single.”
In their March statement, Amanda and West said that their relationship was “still very new.”
“It was never our intention to purposely hide anything. … We’ve shown up for each other as friends over the years, through all the highs and lows, and what’s developed recently was the last thing either of us expected,” they wrote via Instagram at the time. “Our connection grew out of a genuine, longstanding friendship, which made it especially important for us to approach this with care.”

Nikki Glaser Finds Peace After Hollywood Exit
Nikki Glaser has made a major life change, and she is fully embracing it. After years of living in Los Angeles and keeping up with the fast-paced demands of Hollywood, the comedian decided to return to St. Louis, the place she has always called home.
The move came after the pandemic and quickly turned into a permanent shift. Now, instead of chasing status and industry pressure, Nikki is enjoying a calmer, more relaxed life surrounded by family, friends, and familiar faces.
Nikki Glaser made the life-changing decision to leave Los Angeles in 2022, choosing instead to return to St. Louis, where she spent much of her childhood.
After years of living in a fast-moving entertainment hub, the comedian wanted a complete reset.
The transition was even documented on her reality series “Welcome Home Nikki Glaser?,” which gave fans a glimpse into her return to a more familiar environment alongside her parents.
Speaking about the move during her April 22 appearance on “Live With Kelly and Mark”, Nikki explained per PEOPLE, “I live in St. Louis,” adding, “I moved back to St. Louis after Covid and kind of just got away from it all and stayed there.”
Her decision wasn’t impulsive as it came after years of navigating a lifestyle that demanded constant visibility and comparison.
Nikki Surrounds Herself With Familiar Faces And Family

Returning home allowed Nikki Glaser to reconnect with the people who have known her long before fame.
While promoting her comedy special “Good Girl,” which was filmed in St. Louis, she shared how meaningful it was to perform in front of a crowd filled with familiar faces.
“Lots of people from high school, people from my pilates class, my self-tan lady from the strip mall. But it was fun,” she told hosts Mark Consuelos and Kelly Ripa.
The experience brought a different kind of comfort, even if it came with a bit of humor about how much her audience now knew about her personal life.
“It’s fine that my childhood dentist knows about my sex life now. I guess that’s appropriate,” the 41-year-old joked.
More importantly, going back home allowed her to spend quality time with her parents. Nikki noted that the move gave her the chance to “focus on my family while they’re still around and healthy, and want to hang out with me,” a priority that had become increasingly important.
Nikki Glaser Finds Freedom Away From Status And Comparison

One of the biggest reasons behind Nikki’s move was the culture she experienced while living on the coasts.
According to her, life in cities like Los Angeles and New York often revolved around competition and appearances.
In August 2025, she described it plainly during a conversation on “St. Louis on the Air,” saying, “When I’m on both of the coasts, it’s like constantly comparing yourself, and everyone’s just really chasing that status.”
Back in St. Louis, that dynamic shifted entirely. The “FBoy Island” star explained, “Here [in St. Louis], it just feels a bit more relaxed, and I get back to what’s important: having a good time and going out to eat.”
In her hometown, social clout and industry recognition carry far less weight, something she found refreshing.
“That’s not here, and that’s not what people value here. And it just recalibrates me,” Nikki added.
Nikki Reflects On Her Journey From Midwest Roots To Stardom

Although Nikki Glaser now calls St. Louis home, her journey began elsewhere. She was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, before her family relocated to Missouri, where she grew up in the suburb of Kirkwood.
Her early years in comedy were deeply tied to the Midwest, something her father, EJ Glaser, reflected on in a 2025 interview with FirstAlert4.
“She worked out of our house while driving all over the Midwest to do comedy,” he recalled, adding, “Her work ethic is just amazing. I’m so proud of her.”
That determination eventually paid off, leading to Nikki’s first stand-up special in 2016 and a successful career that has included hosting major events like the Golden Globe Awards.
Nikki Glaser Joins Growing Trend Of Celebrities Leaving Hollywood

Nikki is far from alone in stepping away from Los Angeles. In recent years, several high-profile figures have made similar moves, citing issues such as overcrowding, the cost of living, and lifestyle pressures.
Comedian Joe Rogan famously left the city, explaining per the Daily Mail, “I want to go somewhere in the center of the country… somewhere you have a little more freedom,” while also pointing to challenges like traffic and overpopulation.
Actor Mark Wahlberg also relocated his family to Nevada, seeking what he described as a “better life,” while Hilary Swank moved to Colorado during the pandemic and embraced a quieter lifestyle on a ranch.
Josh Brolin followed a similar path, relocating to Atlanta with his family while maintaining ties to California.
For Nikki, the decision wasn’t about leaving her career behind but reshaping how it fits into her life.

Say Goodbye to Sylvester Stallone’s Franchise-Starting Crime Thriller on Free Streaming
After expanding his Western streaming empire earlier this year with The Madison and Marshals, one of the jewels in Taylor Sheridan‘s Paramount crown just received a huge update. On April 15, a first look at the fourth season of Tulsa King was revealed by none other than Sylvester Stallone himself, who took to his personal social media to drop a suave-looking selfie and a caption that read, “Tulsa King” Season 4 “is being edited and is COMING YOUR WAY SOON!”
Following a third season that was the “best outing yet,” according to Collider’s Jeff Ewing in his official review, the fourth season of the hit series will see Stallone and other fan favorite faces return for an explosive battle of wits and action. Although Stallone’s post promises the show will return “soon,” an exact release date is still unknown. With editing underway, it’s likely we will see Tulsa King Season 4 either late this year or early next year. Along with this great update for Stallone fans comes some disappointing news, as it is confirmed that one of the actor’s hardest-hitting action movies from this century is about to lose its place on free streaming.
The film in question is Escape Plan, which stars Sly alongside fellow action icon Arnold Schwarzenegger. Written by Miles Chapman and Jason Keller, the movie was directed by Swedish filmmaker Mikael Håfström, who wouldn’t return for either of the subsequent sequels, Escape Plan 2: Hades and Escape Plan: The Extractors. The film simply follows two tough guys who hatch a plan to escape from a high-tech prison facility. If that sounds like your sort of movie, you’ll have to hurry, as Escape Plan is officially leaving Plex on May 1, 2026.
‘Escape Plan’ Received Mixed Reviews
Although it featured Stallone and Schwarzenegger doing what they do best, kicking ass and delivering sharp one-liners, Escape Plan wasn’t the critical hit it might’ve hoped to be. This is illustrated on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, where the movie earned a middling 50% score, with critics denouncing the film’s lack of innovation and reliance on ’80s action movie tropes. “The most surprising thing about this movie, outside of its length, is just how unsurprising it really is,” one critic wrote, with another adding, “You’ll have to accept the absurdity and understand that there are several questions you’ll never get sufficient answers for.”
Escape Plan is leaving Plex this May. Make sure to stay tuned to Collider for more streaming stories.
