Spencer Pratt Details ‘Working’ With President Trump
Spencer Pratt detailed his recent meeting with President Donald Trump following his loss in the Los Angeles mayoral race.
“Working with the President on a 25% FEDERAL film tax credit to bring back Hollywood,” the Hills alum, 42, wrote via Instagram on Friday, August 7. “While Gavin Newsom’s commissioner is actively outsourcing production jobs to Hungary, and his rogue AG is trying to destroy CA production companies, the adults in the room are actually trying to repatriate the most quintessential American industry.”
Pratt’s post included a photo of him and the president, 80, during their meeting at Trump’s golf club in Los Angeles.
“I’m committed to saving Hollywood, and I’m very grateful for the President’s remarkable generosity and focus on this issue,” Pratt continued. “He is very passionate about revitalizing the entertainment industry and we will not let Canada, or the UK or Budapest steal our lunch anymore.”
Pratt added that during their meeting, he and Trump shared a meal which he described as the “best clam chowder” he has ever had.
“We discussed several other very important topics, as well. I’m humbled and grateful for all the time and discussion from the President,” Pratt recalled. “Unlike many other cynical doomers out there, he refuses to write off California.”
When Pratt entered the Los Angeles mayoral race earlier this year, Trump seemingly endorsed the former reality star. (While Pratt is a registered republican, the Los Angeles mayoral race was a nonpartisan election.)
“I’d like to see him do well. He’s a character,” Trump told reporters ahead of the primary election. “I assume he probably supports me. I heard he’s a big MAGA person.”
In May, Pratt spoke with Us about his mayoral bid and stressed his deep commitment to the endeavour. “It was always very serious, but when I announced [my run] in front of thousands of fire victims, everyone cheered so much that it kicked off a new path of being taken seriously,” he exclusively told Us, revealing his wife, Heidi Montag, showed unwavering support. “And as I go to all of these communities and meet with community leaders, they just have so much faith in me.”
Pratt ended up finishing in third in the June primary election, falling short of the runoff by less than 30,000 votes. Los Angeles voters will choose between current mayor Karen Bass and Los Angeles City Council member Nithya Raman this November.
Following the loss, Trump continued to advocate for Pratt.
“Spencer Pratt…He shouldn’t go away quietly,” Trump said of Pratt’s loss during a June speech to the Faith & Freedom Coalition, before erroneously — and without any evidence — claiming the election outcome was not legitimate. “He should protest because it was, in my very strong opinion, that was a rigged election.”
Last month, Pratt paid a visit to the White House and hinted his career in politics wasn’t over yet.
“I will never stop fighting for my community,” Pratt wrote via Instagram alongside a photo of him and Trump inside the Oval Office at the White House in Washington, D.C.
Details about Pratt and Trump’s July meeting were not publicly revealed at the time.

Influencer Demi Schweers Breaks Down Over MS Update
Demi Schweers is sharing a heartbreaking update on her battle with multiple sclerosis after a troll claimed her health struggles are “fake.”
“Sharing this update with this vile comment as a glimpse of [what] having a most[ly] invisible illness is like,” Schweers, 32, wrote via a TikTok caption on Thursday, August 7, alongside a screengrab of the social media user’s comment that read, “What happened to Demi’s fake MS journey?”
The influencer — who has been vocal about her battle with the autoimmune disease and polyendocrine metabolic ovarian syndrome (PMOS) — then revealed that she got some “really s***ty news” after having an MRI a few weeks prior.
“Since 2020 I have been completely stable MS wise, no new lesions,” Schweers explained in the heartfelt video. “But I just got the news that I have a new lesion, so that really sucks.”
As her new reality sunk in, Schweers started to get tears in her eyes.
“F***. I don’t even know what to say,” she confessed. “I just hope that insurance approves this new medication and I’m able to get stable again and everything stays the same. OK, I need to process this.”
Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a disease of the brain and spinal cord where the body’s immune system “attacks the protective cover of nerve cells,” according to Mayo Clinic. The illness can lead to scars or lesions and blocked signals from the brain can create issues with movement, vision and balance.
Demi, who shares two children with husband Tom Schweers, expanded upon her health issues in the TikTok caption, calling out the troll who claimed she was making it all up.

“I’ve been really in my head the past few days and trying to stay as positive as possible,” she wrote, noting once again that she was diagnosed with MS in 2020.
Demi recalled that at her “worst” she couldn’t walk, lost her vision in her right eye and had “chronic fatigue and brain fog.”
The content creator explained that since 2021, she’s been “stable” and found a medication that was “working” and made her feel “good” during her back-to-back pregnancies. (Demi welcomed daughter Nora in May 2023 and son Theodore in June 2024.)
“That all changed this past Sunday. I had an MRI two and a half weeks ago and as this has become standard for me I wasn’t too worried about my results,” Demi shared. “I logged and and saw the words ‘NEW LESION: present, upper vertical cord’ & ‘T1characteristics: T1 hypointensity.’”
She recalled feeling “upset, numb, sad, scared” and countless other emotions while trying to process the news.
Demi revealed that she later received a message from a neurologist she’d “never spoken to before,” which upped her anxiety about the new lesion.
After a few days, Demi was told she needed another MRI on her brain, cervical spine and thoracic spine but all tests are being scheduled out at least four to five months in advance.

“I’m hoping that with this new finding I’m able to get in sooner,” she added. “As of right now, I don’t really know what this means for me in my health and I’m honestly a little bit scared.”
The Iris Nutrition founder noted, “The only thing I can do right now is wait to find out when my MRI will be scheduled and go from there. I’m gonna continue to live my life as normally as I can without getting in my head.”
She concluded by saying that she chose to share her story so that “someone else in their health journey feels less alone.”
“Having chronic illness and one that’s typically invisible is so difficult — but we’re in this journey together. 🧡 #multiplesclerosis #ms #update,” Demi wrote.
Despite the one hater claiming Demi was “faking” her illness for years, the majority of the comments on her TikTok were full of hope and support.
“I found your page when I was diagnosed and you have been such a light in my life,” one social media user wrote in the comments section. “I call my lesions brain glitter. You just got new glitter. ✨ I hope that helps 💕.”
Another person replied, “Demi I’m so sorry to hear things have flared up again. It’s so messed up someone would comment this.”
Demi’s husband, 37, also commented on the clip, writing, “I love you.”

Apple TV’s Smartest Sci-Fi Thriller Is Officially One of Streaming’s Biggest Hits
Every so often, we get a new television series that fully becomes part of the pop culture lexicon. It used to be called a “water cooler show” but, well, everybody works from home now, or they bring their own water bottle to work if they do go into the office. How do people even meet anymore? Sorry, we’ve gotten off-topic. When Apple TV released an intriguing workplace mystery show, people weren’t paying that much attention, but suddenly, everything changed and now everyone wants to work at Lumon Industries.
Created by Dan Erickson and executive produced by Ben Stiller, Severance imagines a world where employees can surgically divide their work memories from their personal lives. For Lumon Industries employee Mark Scout (Adam Scott), that separation begins to unravel after a series of increasingly disturbing discoveries. The official synopsis states:
“Mark leads a team of office workers whose memories have been surgically divided between their work and personal lives. When a mysterious colleague appears outside of work, it begins a journey to discover the truth about their jobs.”
The series stars Britt Lower (Dark Winds) as Helly R., Tramell Tillman (Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning) as Seth Milchick, Zach Cherry (Fallout) as Dylan George, John Turturro (The Batman Part II) as Irving Bailiff, Christopher Walken (Dune: Part Two) as Burt Goodman, Patricia Arquette (They Will Kill You) as Harmony Cobel, and Dichen Lachman (Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes) as Ms. Casey.
Is ‘Severance’ Worth Watching?
Severance has become one of the most acclaimed television series of the decade. Both seasons have earned extraordinary critical praise, with Rotten Tomatoes scores comfortably above 95%, while the series has collected multiple Emmy Awards and become one of Apple TV’s biggest flagship originals. Critics have lauded it for the genius of the writing and the premise of the series itself, combined with the stunning and star-making performances (in the case of Tillman, especially, who booked himself a Mission: Impossible movie and a Spider-Man movie in the wake of the series) and the incredible production design. It’s also been acclaimed for its daring and its willingness to embrace some genuinely odd storytelling without actually sacrificing any emotional beats that make the characters so relatable.
Severance is streaming now on Apple TV. A third season is officially in development. Stay tuned to Collider for more updates.

Gerard Butler’s 107-Minute Action Thriller Is Officially Leaving Netflix in 1 Day
2026 hasn’t exactly been a benchmark year for Gerard Butler so far, who starred in one of the biggest box office bombs of his career with Greenland 2: Migration. Butler reunited with his Greenland co-star Morena Baccarin on the sci-fi sequel, but with a budget of $90 million, it needed close to $200 million just to break even — Greenland 2 left theaters with less than $50 million total at the box office. Butler’s second movie of the year, In the Hand of Dante, is a 700-year-spanning crime thriller that saw him team up with other stars like Oscar Isaac and Jason Momoa. The film had a successful run into the top 10, but it certainly didn’t stay at the top of streaming charts as many fans were expecting, especially considering the star power involved.
Just because Butler’s last few movies haven’t lived up to his high standards doesn’t mean he doesn’t still have plenty of hits under his belt, though. While it failed to find success at the box office, Butler’s 2021 action thriller with Frank Grillo, Copshop, has become a massive success on streaming in the last few years, running in the top 10 on various platforms. Copshop has called Netflix its streaming home for a few months now, but all good things must come to an end. The streamer recently announced that the last day to watch Butler and Grillo’s Copshop will be on August 9, at the end of this weekend. Fans need to act fast if they want to check out the film on streaming, as a new home has yet to be announced for when it leaves Netflix.
What Is ‘Copshop’ About?
The official synopsis for Copshop reads as follows: “A small-town cop shop becomes a pressure cooker when a wanted man (Frank Grillo) gets himself arrested on purpose to hide from a ruthless hitman (Gerard Butler) hunting him down. Rookie officer Valerie Young (Alexis Louder) finds herself caught in the crossfire as lies unravel and bullets fly. A tense, twisty thriller where nothing — and no one — is what they seem.” Copshop was directed by Joe Carnahan, who also worked on one of the biggest Netflix movies of 2026, The Rip, starring Matt Damon and Ben Affleck. Copshop also holds solid scores of 83% from critics and 74% from audiences on the aggregate site Rotten Tomatoes.
Check out Copshop before it’s removed from Netflix at the end of this weekend, and stay tuned to Collider for more updates and coverage of Gerard Butler’s future projects.

Brothers, 7 and 4, Take Parents’ Car, Critically Injure Woman
A woman who was walking her dog was critically injured when a set of 7-year-old and 4-year-old brothers took their parents’ car for a joyride.
A white sedan was speeding down 35th Avenue in Oakland, California, before it hit the woman while she was walking her dog. The incident was seen by several witnesses, as well as captured on surveillance video.
Oakland police said that a 7-year-old was behind the wheel, while his 4-year-old brother was also in the vehicle. They allegedly took their parents’ Toyota while they were sleeping, and the crash took place several blocks away from their home.
Following the crash, the children were found outside the vehicle. Meanwhile, the woman was left in critical condition. Her dog also fled the scene and it is not clear if the pet has been located.
“It was loud,” witness Lavelle Shah-Marquis told ABC 7 News of the crash. “I pray that she’s okay, but it was bad, it was bad.”
Oakland police have been able to locate the boys’ parents, who have reportedly cooperated with the investigation.
In light of the tragedy, many witnesses were left wondering who should be left responsible given the boys’ ages.
“Unfortunately, I think these parents need to be held responsible and that was my main concern was these parents need to be held responsible. This is ridiculous,” Shah-Marquis told the outlet.
Meanwhile, legal analyst and former prosecutor Steven Clark admitted that penalizing anyone may be difficult since the situation was so uncommon. “I’ve never seen anything like this. It’s just such a one off,” he told ABC 7 News.
“The law doesn’t have an exact remedy for this,” he said.
Clark went to acknowledge that the act could be considered a crime, but the children involved likely won’t face criminal accountability due to their ages. “It is a crime that the seven-year-old committed, but we’re not going to put a seven-year-old in juvenile hall,” he said.
He then wondered what the “level of supervision of these kids” was at the time they took the car. “How did they get access to the vehicle?” Clark asked. “I’ve seen that in other cases where you rely on social workers, not prosecutors.”
Clark ultimately guessed that no one will be criminally charged, though a civil case is likely. “This isn’t like leaving a gun around for a kid. This is an automobile that we use every day, and this is the kind of thing that you’re used to just leaving your car keys out,” he said.
The investigation into the case remains ongoing.
The Oakland Police Department did not immediately respond to Us’ request for comment when contacted about the case.

NBA Star Brandon Clarke’s Cause of Death at Age 29 Revealed
Late NBA star Brandon Clarke’s cause of death has been determined nearly three months after he died at age 29.
The County of Los Angeles Department of Medical Examiner announced on Friday, August 7, that Memphis Grizzlies power forward died from “the effects of heroin and cocaine.” A medical examiner’s report ruled that Clarke’s death was accidental.
On May 11, the Los Angeles Fire Department responded to an emergency call from a home in the San Fernando Valley shortly after 5 p.m. local time and later pronounced Clarke dead at the scene, per NBC 4 Los Angeles. Officials suspected Clarke may have died from an overdose because drug paraphernalia was reportedly found inside the residence.
However, there were some initial questions when the L.A. Medical Examiner deferred announcing a cause of death in May “pending additional investigation.”
Clarke was facing charges of speeding and possession of a controlled substance at the time of his death, after he led police on a high-speed chase in Arkansas in April.
The basketball player was selected by the Oklahoma City Thunder in the first round of the NBA draft before being immediately traded to the Memphis Grizzlies in 2019. Clarke played all seven of his NBA seasons with the Grizzlies though he was sidelined for all but two games during the 2025–26 season due to injuries.
Following his death, the Grizzlies organization said that they were “heartbroken by the tragic loss of Brandon Clarke.”
“Brandon was an outstanding teammate and an even better person whose impact on the organization and the greater Memphis community will not be forgotten,” the Grizzlies said in a statement in May. “We express our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones during this difficult time.”
Ja Morant — who played for the Memphis Grizzlies at the time but has since been traded to the Portland Trail Blazers — acknowledged in a solemn statement that Clarke’s death was “bigger than basketball.”

Former Grizzlies power forward Jaren Jackson Jr. also reflected on the friendship that the two developed when Clarke joined the team in 2019. (Jackson, 26, was traded to the Utah Jazz in February.)
“I couldn’t imagine a world where this was even a possibility. i love you forever brother, this is absolutely devastating,” Jackson wrote via Instagram. “i just wish i could talk to you. you were so much to so many and even more to me. i will never have the words to describe what this feels like. i still can’t believe this. to your family and friends and everyone you were always a light and you were always so genuine and real and our friendship went far beyond anything on the court.”
He poignantly concluded, “I truly lost my twin. i’m still going to be talking to you always. you will be forever loved and forever missed.”
Clarke’s sister, Taylor Triplett, spoke out on behalf of her family two days after her brother’s death to thank the public for “the outpouring of love and support.”
“It means everything to our family. If you reached out please know I appreciate it so much but I am just having a hard time finding the words to even talk about this yet and it might be a while before I’m ready,” she explained via Instagram.

Ryan Murphy Explains Why He Cut Graphic Sex Scenes in The Shards
Ryan Murphy hinted that his shows will have less “graphic” sex scenes — starting with The Shards.
“I’ve done a couple of shows with high school characters, and I love doing them. I think that arena is really interesting,” Murphy, 60, told The Hollywood Reporter in a profile published on Thursday, August 6. “It’s an arena of first times: First kiss. First makeout. First sexual experience. First breakup.”
The setting of his new show made Murphy reconsider the sexual content featured in author Bret Easton Ellis’ 2023 novel of the same name, which inspired The Shards.
“I always thought it was a story of longing and romance more than sexuality. Also, I’m a parent. I have three young boys,” Murphy, who shares his kids with David Miller, added. “I’ve done erotic shows, sexual shows. I wanted it to be tasteful and palatable.”
He continued: “The interesting thing about The Shards is that it’s made for everybody. Specifically, it’s made for you if you grew up in the ‘80s, and it’s made for young people who are that age. In the back of my mind, I was always like, ‘Being too graphic and too sensational is not the way to go.’”
Murphy teased “longing and eroticism” in the FX series that was approached “very responsibly” with intimacy coordinators.
“But I would say that the older I get, the more I become an old Victorian prude,” he noted. “Maybe because I’m a father, I’m like, ‘We don’t need to show that.’”

While teasing the series, Murphy called the sexual scenes “tasteful,” adding, “It certainly will launch discussions. We were all conscious of that.”
He concluded: “A lot of this cast is new, and I didn’t want to put anybody in any situations in any of the scenes. The thing I always lead with actors is, ‘What do you feel comfortable doing?’ I always empower actors in those situations.”
Based on Ellis’ novel, The Shards is set in Los Angeles in 1981 and follows a 17-year-old version of the author during his final year at the elite Buckley prep school. His world is upended by the arrival of a mysterious new student, Robert Mallory, whose “unsettling presence coincides with the activities of a serial killer known as The Trawler,” according to the synopsis.
The Shards is the only book of Ellis‘ to feature himself as a character, but he previously issued a disclaimer stating that all the characters featured in The Shards are fictional — apart from himself.
Igby Rigney, who was tapped to play Ellis, spoke with Us about approaching the challenge.
“Ryan was really fun in the way that he directed us where he would have us do multiple takes multiple ways. So we were never clued in on which take he was going to use,” he recalled last month. “And then I’m sure some of those takes got combined to make it extra confusing.”
Rigney continued: “Getting to have the narration sometimes was a little challenging on set though because everybody around me is having fun and I’m staring deeply into the distance thinking about this big long paragraph I have but I’m not saying it out loud.”
The Shards airs Wednesdays on FX.

Antonio Banderas Opens Up About Leaving Hollywood for Spain
Antonio Banderas made a lot of memories in Hollywood but he always knew he would end up back in Spain.
“Those were beautiful, exciting years. But I always had this sense of provisionality that it was not going to last my whole life,” the actor, 65, said in an interview with People published on Friday, August 7. “I knew that Málaga was there, my hometown. I was not supposed to be in Malibu, but in Málaga.”
Banderas moved from Spain to the United States in 1995 after falling in love with now ex-wife Melanie Griffith while on set of their rom-com Two Much. At the time, Griffith, 68, was already mom to two children: son Alexander Bauer and daughter Dakota Johnson, whom she welcomed during previous relationships. The pair wed in May 1996 after his divorce from first wife Ana Leza was finalized that same year.
While Banderas was already a doting stepfather, he and Griffith expanded their family shortly after their nuptials when they welcomed daughter Stella, 29, in September 1996.
In June 2014, Griffith and Banderas called it quits after 18 years of marriage. Their divorce was finalized in December 2015. Banderas moved on with current girlfriend Nicole Kimpel in November 2015.
Despite their split, Banderas and Griffith have remained close over the years. Banderas has referred to Griffith as one of his “best friends.” While Banderas has his roots in Spain, he regularly visits Hollywood to spend time with his family.
“When I go to Los Angeles, we get together anyway, we got a lot of fun,” he told the outlet of reuniting with his ex. “We laugh and we just … It’s a very healthy thing, and it was very healthy for our kids.”
Earlier this year, Banderas shared that his desire to move back to Spain came after he suffered a heart attack in 2017.
“It was like somebody put glasses on me so I could see the reality that I didn’t see before. I was just too worried about stupid things. We sometimes forget that we are going to die,” he reflected. “People live like they are not going to die. They collect things and they collect. I don’t want to collect anything … The only thing that I am interested in now is the experience of living.”
While Banderas travels to Los Angeles to see his loved ones, Stella also visits him in Spain. Last year, Stella wed husband Alex Gruszynski in her father’s hometown.
“I’m Andalusian, I’m an actor, I’m a father … and it was a storm of emotions!” Banderas told Hello! of his daughter’s big day in October 2025. “I tried to keep my composure, but it was difficult not to shed a few tears looking at Stella.”

Which Sterling Point Stars Are, Aren’t Returning for Season 2?
While the vision for Sterling Point includes more seasons, is every cast member coming back for a potential season 2?
The show, which is streaming now, follows Annie Jacobson (Ella Rubin), whose life takes a turn when she inherits her mysterious grandfather’s island in Canada. This leads to new friends, a love triangle and shocking family secrets being exposed — including a secret sister named Ramona (played by Amélie Hoeferle).
Sterling Point hails from creator Megan Park, who had her own coming-of-age journey after getting her start as an actress on then-ABC Family’s The Secret Life of the American Teenager. She then made the move to writing and directing with 2021’s The Fallout and 2024’s My Old Ass, which allowed Park to expand her storytelling vision.
“It would be so thrilling and such a gift if we got to do more. It was so shocking how different it was to film a show,” she told Us in July 2026. “A movie is an hour and a half and it’s a much shorter period of time that you have to make it and put it out into the world. It’s eight hours of something. So it was a lot of work and it’s been a long process.”
Park continued: “I wouldn’t say it almost killed me but it definitely aged me 10 to 20 years. It was also really rewarding though because within an hour and a half, you can only go so deep and you can only explore so much and talk about so much. When you have eight hours, you have a much bigger world and so many more characters. So it was really creatively rewarding in that sense. But I’m not going to lie, it’s a lot of work making a TV show.”
The showrunner addressed the way season 1 ended with a plot twist.
“I knew that we always wanted Ramona and Annie to switch places. It was just like, ‘How do we get them there and how do we show that?’ Because I think it’s really important for them to experience each other’s worlds for a little bit of time and see how that shapes them and see how that makes them understand each other or not understand each other,” Park teased. “And also Connor reaching out to his biological parents was something that was really important to me — without Annie’s knowledge — which is a pretty bold and dramatic move.”
Park promised a “great setup” for season 2, adding, “But also if we don’t, it’s like you are kind of [leaving] people wondering what happened to them. But yeah, hopefully it sets us up for a nice season 2.”
Keep scrolling to see who is and isn’t coming back on Sterling Point:
Ella Rubin
Season 2 would follow Rubin’s character Annie after she chose to stay on the island.
Amélie Hoeferle
Hoeferle’s character, Ramona, meanwhile, chose to swap places with Annie by moving to New York.
Jacob Whiteduck-Lavoie
While Annie and Ellis called it quits when she was planning to leave, their romance will presumably be front and center in season 2.
Daniel Quinn-Toye
Quinn-Toye’s Rory didn’t end up with Annie but he could still be back.
Bo Bragason
Bragason, who plays Oona, is expected back after Ramona’s split from her friend.
Keen Ruffalo
Ruffalo’s character, Connor, had a smaller role in season 1 but will likely be back.
Mabel Strachan
Maple a.k.a Oona’s younger sister is presumably returning in the sophomore season.
Missi Pyle
Pyle’s character, Denise, made appearances in season 1, which will likely continue in future episodes.
Jay Duplass
After finding out that he is (spoiler!) Ramona’s biological father, Steven’s role would likely be expanded.
Jeffrey Dean Morgan
Morgan told Us he had high hopes for more storylines for the adults in season 2.
