While it may feel like your options for a lightweight spring jacket are endless, none is as tried-and-true as a simple trench coat. Even statement lovers like Blake Lively are fans of the classic piece. In fact, the actress just wore the timeless layer for her latest night out — and it’s a style that you can add to your closet for just $35.
While attending Fendi’s Baguette handbag relaunch party in New York City, Lively dressed down in a black tank top and high-waisted jeans. Her casual look was instantly dressed up, however, with a versatile beige trench coat that she nonchalantly draped over her shoulders. The collared outerwear featured a double-breasted silhouette with glossy black buttons and adjustable buckled cuffs, a look also seen in a similar budget-friendly style from Walmart.

The crisp, clean silhouette of the sharp jacket style is known for its versatility and ease. Light, thin textures and subtle accents allow the piece to be worn with virtually any outfit, no matter how formal or casual. Plus, a smooth finish makes the piece windproof — a practical detail that will keep you protected on gusty spring and summer days.
Trench coats’ layering potential also makes the classic outerwear style perfect for color-blocking or framing your outfits. Lively used her piece as a lighter contrast to darker staples, which she spices up with black patent leather pumps, colorful rings, sparkling earrings, a gleaming gold watch and a diamond collar necklace. Of course, the Gossip Girl star also carried a black version of Fendi’s iconic Baguette shoulder bag, which was covered in small, rounded mirrors for a high-shine finish.
As Lively proved, there’s no outfit too casual to pair with a streamlined trench coat. Like the actress, you can easily wear the piece with basics or a denim silhouette. Still, the style looks especially chic when paired with a knee-length or mini dress, and while pumps will certainly match the sophisticated feel, classic penny loafers or low-heeled boots provide an elegant complement. Low-top sneakers are also perfect for adding a cool, carefree finish to more casual trench ensembles.
Aside from its fashionable elements, a crisp trench coat is a practical piece you’ll reach for constantly. As seen on Lively, the style’s sharp details and classic silhouette make it an elevated addition to any look. Truly, there’s no limit to the layering abilities a trench coat can bring to your wardrobe this season.

FunnyMike and Jaliyah have the internet talking again. Fans began speculating about the former couple’s relationship after FunnyMike popped into Jaliyah’s TikTok Live and started sending gifts during her stream. Jaliyah quickly shut down the chatter, reminding folks that she is single, prompting a response from FunnyMike as well.
On Saturday, June 13, a clip from Jaliyah’s TikTok Live began circulating on social media. In the video, FunnyMike, Jaliyah’s ex and the father of her children, repeatedly sent gifts during her livestream.
As the gifts continued rolling in, Jaliyah laughed and told viewers, “He just want some shine on my live,” before jokingly adding, “I’m finna block you.”
The interaction quickly sparked debate online. While some viewers brushed off the exchange as harmless, others pointed to the former couple’s history and questioned whether Jaliyah was truly done with FunnyMike. Several commenters suggested the pair has a habit of finding their way back to one another despite their public fallout, while others expressed frustration, saying they had been rooting for Jaliyah to leave the relationship.
However, Jaliyah later shut down the speculation. Responding to the growing backlash, she wrote, “I’m single asf and will remain that way.” The moment comes just weeks after Jaliyah publicly accused FunnyMike of abuse and alleged that he was expecting children with other women.
After The Shade Room Teens shared Jaliyah’s response, FunnyMike jumped into the comment section to offer his own take on the viral moment. According to FunnyMike, he was simply “trolling.” He also doubled down on Jaliyah’s comments by writing, “Heavy on the single.”
The YouTuber later appeared to lean further into his single era when he shared an Instagram photo dump featuring several mystery women. He captioned the post, “This sh** overly structured #singleaf.”
FunnyMike also responded to followers who kept bringing up Jaliyah in the comments. One user wrote, “Can’t wait for my girl Jaliyah turn laugh now cry later.” In which FunnyMike replied, “Bruh stop bringing her up we both single I could careless.” While another commenter wrote, “Lemme get da bm 👀.” FunnyMike responded, “Hit her dm 5.”
FunnyMike also appeared to address critics who believe he’s secretly hurt by the breakup. Taking to his Instagram Story, he wrote, “Y’all want me to go cry in a corner.” He later leaned into the jokes by posting a video of himself sitting in a corner and pretending to cry, seemingly poking fun at social media users who think he’s bothered by the split.
The ShadeRoom Teens comment section had plenty to say about the viral interaction.

2026 has been a wonderful year for horror so far. The likes of 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple, Send Help, and Ready or Not 2: Here I Come all charmed audiences, but it wasn’t until this past month that the genre truly stood out from the rest. This is thanks to the release of two fresh new horror projects, both from the minds of former YouTube creators. Focus Features’ Obsession has become the talk of Hollywood, with director Curry Barker helping transform a sub-$1 million budget into almost $230 million worldwide, so far.
Then there is A24’s Backrooms, from the mind of 20-year-old Kane Parsons, which has broken numerous records, including the aforementioned director becoming the youngest person ever to top the North American box office. However, not every horror release in 2026 has been a hit, with perhaps the very worst coming from a franchise some had long given up on. The Strangers: Chapter 3 debuted in February and only managed four weeks in theaters, thanks to a dreadful run that only picked up $11 million worldwide, against a production budget reported to be $8.5 million.
Not only was the threequel a box office disaster, but it also faced huge critical backlash and earned a dismal 18% score on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes. Dubbed “an odd attempt to expand this world in an irritating way that couldn’t be further away from what makes this series great,” in Ross Bonaime’s review for Collider, there is no doubt that this is a movie 2026 will likely forget. However, morbid curiosity has hit following the film’s streaming arrival, with The Strangers: Chapter 3 becoming one of the ten most-streamed movies on Starz in the U.S.
Although the likes of Backrooms and Obsession are dominating box office headlines by proving huge critical and commercial hits, last weekend’s charts were actually topped by a very different horror film, and one that has received a similar scathing critical reception to The Strangers: Chapter 3. The film in question is Scary Movie, a first return to the parody franchise in 13 years, which opened with an impressive $55 million haul from U.S. theaters and another $50 million from overseas markets. The horror parody franchise’s sixth chapter might have taken top spot over the weekend, but it was quickly outgrossed on its first Monday by Obsession.
The Strangers: Chapter 3 is available to stream now on Starz. Make sure to stay tuned to Collider for all the latest streaming stories.

During a celebration for a late friend, he said he blacked out after consuming champagne and more than 17 pills. Reflecting on the incident, Polo G recalled his father telling him that if help had arrived just seconds later, he could have died.
“That just made me think. Knowing that I got my son, I had to slow down off that. That made me quit Ecstasy and Xanax. The only way I got through that dark time was the music. That’s the one thing that always kept me going.”
Fast forward to 2026, Polo G sat down sat down with DDG and revealed that he was 11 months sober. Cleveland Cavaliers athlete James Harden was reportedly arrested for the misdemeanor charge of unlawful carrying of weapons.
Harden, 36, was arrested in Texas on Saturday, June 13, after local law enforcement discovered a handgun in his car, according to TMZ. Per to the outlet, the NBA star was released on bond within hours and a court date has been scheduled for Monday, June 22.
Harden has not publicly addressed his arrest. Us Weekly has reached out to the pro athlete’s rep for comment.
Harden, who was drafted into the NBA in 2009, currently plays for the Cavaliers. The Ohio-based basketball team were eliminated in the Eastern Conference Finals in May by the New York Knicks. (The Knicks are currently facing off against the San Antonio Spurs in the 2026 NBA Finals, leading the series 3-1.)
“I think that they made shots, some, obviously, open and some just tough shots,” Harden said of his team’s loss during a press conference held last month. “I don’t think we made really any. … I think we accomplished a lot, still short of the goal but I think we accomplished getting to the conference finals. Now, there’s another level to get to [or] maybe two levels to get to.”
He continued, “I think a lot of that is just, you know, maybe our first time together and the first two series we had opportunities to handle the series much quicker than we did, and we didn’t take advantage of it.”
Still, Harden admittedly found the Cavaliers’ loss to be “a little frustrating.”
“I think being here two and a half, three months [while] that team’s been together for some years, which you still don’t get brownie points for, but I think we’re in a good space and we got some work to do, but we had a good season.”
According to Harden, the Cavaliers are a “talented group” that he hopes to see excel in the upcoming NBA season.
“It’s our first time going through whatever we were going to go through, and I think we accomplished a lot, you know, winning a Game 7 at home, winning a Game 7 on the road and getting to the conference finals,” he added at the time. “Now, we have to take another two steps starting this summer, but take another two steps and being even better. Now, you get a full season of understanding what we have as a group and uh setting ourselves up, like, positioning-wise for better.”
Harden previously played for the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Houston Rockets, the Brooklyn Nets, the Philadelphia 76ers and the Los Angeles Clippers. He joined the Cavaliers in 2025.
Things aren’t just heating up inside the villa on ‘Love Island USA’ — they’re getting just as spicy outside of it, too! If you’ve been tuning in, then you already know cast members Sincere Rhea and Melanie Moreno have taken over the island with their drama. But amid all of that, some of Sincere’s tea has started spilling online as his alleged ex-girlfriend has now entered the chat. She claims he doesn’t exactly have the best track record with relationships.
Whew, Roomies, the tea is HOT! Sincere Rhea’s alleged ex-girlfriend is airing him out online while he searches for love in the ‘Love Island USA’ villa. Videos circulating on social media show her claiming they spent five years together. In one video, she explained that they have matching ring finger tattoos.
@leenarochelle we’re not gonna skip past the ring finger tattoo, trust😂😂😂 #loveisland #sincere #loveislandseason8 #fyp @Love Island USA
According to her, Sincere did her dirty throughout most of it. She also claims they split about two years ago, but that hasn’t stopped them from allegedly keeping in touch. “That man has done me dirty for five years straight, okay!” She added, “It don’t matter if we together or not. My get back is always going to get f*****g back.”
On top of that, his ex said she isn’t fazed by folks accusing her of clout-chasing for speaking on him. If anything, she admitted she feels more embarrassed about their past relationship. However, what really has her stuck is seeing him on national television searching for love.
“No s**t Sherlock! What you think this is?” She added, “You think I just want recognition for being this man’s ex. If anything it’s very much so embarrassing that i even let this n***a play with me for five years. But it’s the fact now that he decided to put himself on a reality TV love show. What you looking for love for? You don’t know how to.”
From there, Sincere’s ex said she’s waiting for him to show viewers — and the people inside the villa — who he truly is. “At the end of the day, this man is going to show y’all who he is. His real self. It’s already coming out a little bit. I’m 100% entertained on watching this. Why? Because I’m healed.”

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have received glowing praise from celebrity chef José Andrés for their dedication to humanitarian and charitable work.
The Duke of Sussex recently made a solo stop at an event celebrating the launch of Andrés’s cookbook, “Spain My Way.”
Amid reports that the couple is battling financial pressure, a royal expert has suggested they may now face calls to scale back their expensive lifestyle in California.
World-renowned celebrity chef José Andrés expressed admiration for Harry and Meghan, praising their commitment to humanitarian causes.
In a conversation with PEOPLE, Andrés, who also leads humanitarian efforts through his World Central Kitchen nonprofit, gave insight into his close friendship with the couple. He explained that they are open and welcoming, like any other family.
“They made their kitchen the meeting place like every other family,” he said. “I love how Meghan interacts with her children and food.”
Andrés is close to the Sussexes and even appeared on Meghan’s lifestyle series, “With Love, Meghan,” on Netflix. In the finale of the show’s second season, Meghan revealed that Harry does not like lobster, prompting Andrés to joke, “And you married him anyway?”
For the chef, spending time with Harry and Meghan feels like meeting with anyone else, as they talk about life, family, food, new restaurants, and other everyday topics.

The chef went on to spotlight Harry and Meghan’s dedication to hands-on charity work, saying he is “proud to call them friends.”
Through their Archewell Foundation, the couple has partnered with Andrés’s World Central Kitchen nonprofit to provide meals to communities affected by disasters.
He said he often receives calls or texts from the Montecito-based royals when disasters occur, with the couple asking, “What can we do here, and can we help you?”
“Nobody finds out about those moments, and they do it often, all the time,” he said of the couple’s efforts.
During the Eaton fires that ravaged parts of Pasadena and the greater California area, Harry and Meghan joined Andrés’ organization’s relief efforts, sharing meals and supplies with victims.
“They are always caring about all the things happening in the world. They don’t have to do that,” Andrés said. “They sincerely do it because they care.”

While the couple has frequently faced online criticism and accusations of staging “photo ops” when stepping out to perform public service, Andrés appeared to push back against that narrative. He explained that the Sussexes make sure to show up and “be part of the solution.”
Weighing in on Harry’s recent trip to Ukraine, where he supported wounded veterans and military personnel through his Invictus Games Foundation, Andrés said, “not a lot of people do that.”
“They can decide to live a life in the comfort of their home, but I love that they are there even when nobody’s looking, they’re there just making sure that they can also be part of the solution,” he added of the couple. “That’s why I’m very proud to call them friends,” Andrés said.

Despite their humanitarian work, Harry and Meghan have continued to face scrutiny, especially over their finances. Over the years, they have reportedly lost out on multimillion-dollar deals, while several business ventures have struggled to gain strong momentum.
According to Page Six, Harry has not been earning as much as before, while Meghan has essentially become the “breadwinner” of their family. Their cost of living is said to be north of $6 million, with a large portion reportedly going toward security, travel, staff salaries, mortgage payments, and other expenses.
Royal expert and columnist Maureen Callahan has now suggested that the couple is under mounting pressure to downsize their luxury lifestyle in California if financial pressure continues to grow.

While speculation has suggested that Harry may meet with his estranged father, King Charles, during a summer trip to the UK to drum up support for the Birmingham Invictus Games next year, sources have claimed that a reunion is unlikely.
Citing the couple’s proposed “half in, half out” royal arrangement, which was rejected by Queen Elizabeth, a source told royal commentator Paula Froelich that it would be difficult for the king to extend an olive branch.
“Ever since Harry broke the Sandringham agreement, it would be too much for Charles to see him,” the insider said, per NewsNation.
Charles is also understood to be displeased by claims that Meghan has used his grandchildren, Archie and Lilibet, to promote merchandise from her lifestyle brand, As Ever.

Right now, former Doctor Who showrunner Russell T. Davies seems to have a new full-time gig: sticking his foot into his mouth. Previously, he was revered as the man who brought this franchise back in 2005, turning a show that only older nerds cared about into a youth-friendly, worldwide phenomenon. Eventually, Davies left, and other showrunners (including the excellent Steven Moffat) took the reins. But enthusiasm for the franchise waned when Jodie Whittaker played the Doctor under showrunner Chris Chibnall. To help the show get its groove back, the BBC partnered with Disney and brought Davies back for two more seasons, both of which streamed on Disney+.
Unfortunately, it was a disaster. Disney refused to renew their deal with the BBC, meaning that a third season under Davies was more or less dead. Fans still hoped to see a Christmas special, but the showrunner dashed those hopes recently by hopping on Instagram to confirm that 1) the special, which he never even wrote, was canceled and 2) the BBC had parted ways with him and his production company. This led to widespread news that Doctor Who had been canceled over 20 years after its revival. Now, Davies claimed in a recent interview that the show hadn’t actually been canceled, but his phrasing has angry fans wanting to shove a sonic screwdriver into his mouth.

In an appearance on Gaydio, Russell T. Davies expressed anger at those reporting that Doctor Who has been canceled. “It’s extraordinary to see newspapers, who should know better, saying the show has been canceled,” he said. “It’s the opposite.” He went on to explain that the show is “being put out to tender,” meaning that the BBC will try to find an independent company that is willing to produce the show. By way of example, Davies noted that the show Casualty was previously “a BBC show,” but after being “put out to tender last year,” the show will “be made independently by BBC Studios,” which he noted was “separate to BBC Public Service.”
Wrapping up his thoughts on the matter, he speculated that nobody is going to apply for a tender for Doctor Who for at least a year. “You got to lock it in just to make it financially worthwhile,” a move that he thinks “guarantees years of the program.” He then ended this statement with some of the cattiness that has become his recent trademark: “But no, go ahead and call it canceled, everyone. You’re wrong. You’re literally wrong!”

So, why are fans irked at these words from the Doctor Who showrunner? For one thing, many are still salty about his recent Instagram post, where he claimed that he had never worked on a Christmas special despite previously saying he did and even teasing elements from a presumably completed script. The great writer effectively wrote himself into a corner, having basically admitted that he was either lying before about having worked on the script or lying now about having never worked on the script. Mostly, though, fans were annoyed at Davies’ pedantry here because what he is describing is a cancellation by another other name.
For example, the last episode of the original Doctor Who series aired back in 1989, after which it was effectively canceled. I say “effectively” because, according to the BBC, the show was never officially canceled. They simply stopped commissioning Doctor Who episodes (not counting the weird 1996 made-for-TV movie) for a period of 16 years. Fans now call these “the wilderness years.” We might have been in the wilderness even longer, but the BBC was so impressed by Russell T. Davies’ pitch that they made him showrunner for the celebrated 2005 Doctor Who revival.

On Gaydio, Davies seemed to revel in snarky pedantry, noting that fans who don’t understand what is currently happening with the franchise “are complaining on devices which have a search engine. Go and look it up.” But Davies is acting like this is just a temporary bump in the road and we’ll see new Doctor Who episodes in just a few years. But there’s no guarantee about that, and the last time the franchise was forced into hiatus, it was the better part of two decades before we got new episodes. Furthermore, while many changes were for the best, it’s worth noting the new show was very, very different from what came before.
Accordingly, Davies’ attempt to reassure fans completely backfired. Along with reminding us that we just don’t understand media like him (the guy who recently ran this franchise into the ground), the former Doctor Who showrunner reminded us that the last time the show was not officially canceled, we didn’t have any new episodes for 16 years, and the show came back completely different from what it was before. Because of that, no amount of snark and pedantry about whether it is officially canceled changes the fact that Doctor Who fans have every reason to be worried about a show they might not see more of for literally decades.

Christina Applegate’s “Married… With Children” co-star David Faustino is sharing a heartbreaking update on how the actress is doing as she continues her battle with Multiple Sclerosis. Faustino, who famously played Bud Bundy opposite Christina Applegate’s Kelly Bundy on the beloved sitcom, revealed the actress has been candid with him about the difficult reality of living with the debilitating autoimmune disease.

Speaking to Us Weekly, Faustino admitted it has been difficult watching his longtime friend navigate the disease after Applegate was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 2021.
“It’s extremely difficult for me to understand having a debilitating disease,” Faustino said. “I can’t. I don’t know what that’s like. I can only go from her experience and what she’s told me. I admire her being strong in the face of this, even though it’s been a real blow.”
The actor also revealed that despite the challenges, Applegate has managed to maintain the sharp wit fans have long associated with her. “It’s been very hard for her, but she does keep her humor,” Faustino shared.

According to Faustino, Applegate’s trademark sarcasm has remained intact despite the life-altering diagnosis.
The actor recalled that the actress had a “dry, sarcastic sense of humor since the moment I met her” while filming “Married… With Children,” which ran for 10 seasons before ending in 1997. “Nothing has changed,” Faustino said, describing Applegate as still “extremely sarcastic, extremely dry.”
“She gets through this with some humor, and that’s kind of her way that she moves through it,” Faustino said before adding that he continues to be a constant source of support for the actress. “I’m there as a support, as a person on her team that gives her as much love as I can.”

The longtime friends have remained close since the sitcom wrapped decades ago, with Faustino saying they have leaned on one another even more since Applegate’s diagnosis.
“I do a lot of visits with her. A lot of texting, a lot of checking in. A lot of funny just crap that we talk about. And that’s all I can do, right? Give her my love,” he said. “We do have deep convos when we sit. But we also keep the laughter [going] as well.”
Applegate has largely stayed out of the public eye in recent years as she manages her health. Her last major red carpet appearance came at the 2023 Screen Actors Guild Awards.

In recent years, Applegate has spoken candidly about the physical toll MS has taken on her body. Earlier this year, the actress revealed she had been hospitalized more than 30 times due to what she described as “unimaginable” pain connected to the disease.
Speaking on her “MesSY” podcast with Jamie-Lynn Sigler, Applegate said, “This is really important because for three years, since I was diagnosed, I’ve been in the hospital upwards of 30 times from throwing up, diarrhea and pain that is unimaginable.”
“They’ve done every test known to man on me, put so much radiation into my body from CT scans to everything else,” she continued.

As Applegate continues navigating life with Multiple Sclerosis, the emotional toll has reportedly extended beyond the actress herself and onto those closest to her. During the March 31 episode of the “MesSY” podcast, Jamie-Lynn Sigler revealed she and Applegate would be taking a brief hiatus amid their respective book tours. Applegate’s memoir offers an emotional look into her ongoing battle with the neurodegenerative disease.
Following reports of Applegate’s recent hospitalization, sources close to the actress reportedly opened up about how deeply her health struggles have affected her inner circle. According to a source, “everyone has it in the back of their minds that they might not have a tomorrow with her.”
Another insider claimed Applegate experiences “better days and really bad days,” but added, “she doesn’t have great days.” Still, the source noted Applegate continues fighting through the difficult moments with the support of her loved ones, who remain hopeful she will surpass expectations despite growing concerns surrounding her health.

These days, the Star Trek fandom is on the verge of a warp core breach. The sudden cancellation of Starfleet Academy means that there are no new shows on the horizon. Meanwhile, Paramount has pivoted and wants to focus exclusively on making Trek movies, the first of which will likely reboot the entire universe for the second time. That would potentially wipe out 60 years of continuity in favor of yet another creative gamble that may or may not actually gain the franchise any new fans, but will almost certainly drive many older fans away.
Now, with the Justice Department approving Paramount’s purchase of Warner Bros., the Star Trek fandom is divided. Some believe that this is exactly what the franchise needs; that taking a break from nonstop content so that new creators can try new approaches could lead to a new golden age of Star Trek. Others are distrustful of Paramount’s leadership and believe it would be better for the franchise to die altogether than slowly become right-wing sci-fi. However, both the extreme optimism and the extreme pessimism miss the mark, and the truth about Star Trek’s future is somewhere in the middle.

This may come as a great shock to you, but I, uh, spend a lot of time online. Lately, I’ve spent a fair amount of time in the r/startrek subreddit and various fandom Facebook groups as everyone discusses a singular topic: the future of Star Trek. The future of the franchise already seemed dire when Starfleet Academy was canceled. Regardless of that show’s quality (or lack thereof), its cancellation meant that (thanks to Strange New Worlds having already wrapped) we had no new Trek shows in production for the first time in over a decade. That obviously put something of a damper on celebrating the franchise’s 60th anniversary!
This, combined with changes at Paramount, has soured some fans on Star Trek even having a future. After the previous merger with Skydance, David Ellison (son of billionaire Oracle founder Larry Ellison) now runs Paramount. The new boss is a very prominent conservative who is cozy with Donald Trump, and under Ellison’s leadership, conservative mouthpiece Bari Weiss has been hired to run CBS News into the ground. Because of these factors, many blackpilled Star Trek fans have become convinced of two things: 1) Ellison will leverage his influence to make Trek more conservative and less progressive, and 2) they’d rather see Trek die than become a franchise people like Trump would enjoy.

Obviously, there are some optimists in the fandom that see all this disruption as an opportunity for their favorite franchise. Starfleet Academy wasn’t canceled because people hated its super-woke characters; it was canceled because not very many people were watching it. That’s a product of bad writing and bad leadership, but Alex Kurtzman was just certain that Star Trek fans would love a show about hormonal teen drama. He was wrong about this and many other things (more on that in a minute), so the optimists think that any change in leadership will lead to new writers, new ideas, and a bold new vision for this 60-year-old franchise.
Ironically enough, both the optimists and the pessimists are half-right and half-wrong. Pessimists need to realize that, regarding the politics of the man in charge, Star Trek has still managed to thrive under some people who wouldn’t pass a political purity test. Franchise creator Gene Roddenberry was a progressive visionary, but he was also a womanizer who feared putting gay characters in Trek and greenlit stuff like “Code of Honor,” the most racist Trek episode ever created. Later, the entire Golden Age of Star Trek was overseen by Rick Berman, a progressive who nonetheless killed gay storylines and was allegedly misogynistic to female cast members like Terry Farrell and Jeri Ryan.

Where am I going with this? Basically, Star Trek became a cultural institution under progressive leaders who, nonetheless, had some very regressive attitudes towards certain things. With that in mind, it’s entirely possible that future directors and showrunners will be more progressive, even if they work for conservative leadership. It helps that Ellison is apparently a big fan of Star Trek, previously calling it one of Paramount’s most “beloved franchises.” As I have written about before, conservatives love the same Trek that progressives do, just for different reasons. So we are far likelier to get an Original Series-style reboot than, say, MAGA: The Final Frontier.
So, the pessimists are wrong, but does that mean the optimists are right? Not necessarily. It’s true that Alex Kurtzman has driven NuTrek into the ground (literally all but one show was canceled early!), and almost any change in leadership is admittedly going to be a good thing. But focusing almost entirely on Star Trek movies is probably a bad idea, especially because there are nearly one thousand episodes and only 14 films, over half of which are pretty mid. The movie focus, combined with the rumored franchise reboot, may be the nail in the coffin for old-school fans.

In short, the Star Trek fandom is divided, but one thing unites us all: our love for the greatest sci-fi franchise ever made. We all want the best possible future for Trek, and there’s no reason to think the cash-strapped Paramount won’t do its best to generate money with its biggest franchise. That means nobody is actively sabotaging Trek with a political agenda, but they may yet release enough crappy movies and shows to finish a dying franchise off. All fans can do, then, is hope. After all, Rebellions are built on hope.
Wait, that’s the wrong franchise! But that’s a reminder to every Star Trek fan worried about their franchise: just go look at The Mandalorian and Grogu choking at the box office and realize things could always be worse.
