Our daily workwear reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices.
This faux leather-trimmed blazer from Talbots is a fun twist on the classic black-and-white look. I’m trying to add a little more color to my wardrobe, so I might wear this with a white blouse and a pair of jewel-toned pants, but you can’t go wrong pairing this with a black sheath or a pair of black trousers.
The blazer is on sale for $159-$179 at Talbots (with an additional 40% off when you add to cart) and comes in sizes 2-18, 14W-24W, and some lucky sizes in petite and plus petite.

Packing for Vacation? Here’s Why Tieks Are Non-Negotiable
Packing for a vacation should not be a tricky game of suitcase Tetris that causes stress. The struggle of taking out parts of an outfit, accessories, or toiletries just to fit one more pair of shoes is familiar to most travelers. Even though modern travel demands lighter bags and wiser choices, shoes consistently take up […]

Honest review: Tymo Ring Plus straightener and styling tool
When my life turns crazy, my hairstyle is the first thing to go. I skip the salon, try to do my own cuts and colors, and tell myself I don’t have time for a blow dry. You can guess what the result is: a bun on top of my head daily to hide my frizzy, out-of-shape ‘do.
I’d been solidly in this hair rut for weeks when TYMO Beauty offered to send a TYMO Ring Plus straightener and hair style brush to try. Here’s my honest review of this styling tool, from the perspective of a stressed-out 50-something who’s been neglecting self-care.

Easy, fast styling of thin, wavy hair
The TYMO Ring Plus smoothed and softened my frizzy, air-dried hair in minutes, with no grabbing, tangling, or singeing. It was as easy as running a comb through sections of my hair. Each section needed one pass.
The styler doesn’t clamp down to apply heat. It works more like a wide-tooth comb, with raised teeth that reach more strands. This design allows for a natural look than a clamp flatiron can produce. My hair was not stick-straight after styling — a good thing, in my opinion. Instead, the TYMO Ring Plus worked some magic to eliminate my hair’s frizzy quality and awkward, uneven waviness while leaving some body and a soft shape.
The style mostly had staying power. My hair did start to wave up more on a colder, overcast day in Florida. I did not use any product that day, and an anti-humidity finishing spray may have helped.

How I used the TYMO Ring Plus
I started with clean, air-dried hair. The styler’s instructions advise against using product before styling. My guess is that hair product can junk up the heating surface over time. You could use a finishing spray or a bit of argan oil after styling.
Note that my hair doesn’t air-dry pretty: It has an uneven wave that creates texture, and my fine strands like to separate, which makes them look thinner. Yikes.

I set the TYMO Ring Plus to 290F, which the instruction booklet identifies as the lower end of the range suitable for thin, fine, or bleached hair. My hair isn’t bleached, but it is thin, fine, and colored. The styler heated for less than a minute before I ran it through my strands for the first time.
I used a clip to hold my hair back and a regular comb to pull out sections. I ran the styler through each section once, from root to tip. Each pass took maybe 5 seconds. I don’t have a lot of hair, so I had 10 sections and styled my whole head in less than five minutes.

Takeaways
Here are my takeaways after the first use of the TYMO Ring Plus. This styler is:
- Easier and faster to use than a clamp-style straightener
- Lightweight
- Gentle, in that it works without obvious burning or singeing
- Good at eliminating frizziness without sapping your hair’s natural body
- A good buy if you need a fast styler for air-dried hair

Features and price of the TYMO Ring Plus

The TYMO Ring Plus retails for $69.99 and includes:
- Detangling brush
- Travel bag
- Heat protective glove
- Two hair pins
The styler itself features an anti-burning shell and nano titanium coating to protect your hair. The titanium surface distributes heat more evenly to minimize the chance of scorching parts of your hair by accident. Also, the efficient heat distribution helps the styler work faster – meaning you need fewer passes to get the straightening effect.
The styler also features Positive Temperature Coefficient (PTC) heating which basically supports quick heating at the start and a consistent temperature during use.
Pro tip: Titanium doesn’t eliminate heat damage, so always use a heated styler on the lowest effective temperature. That shouldn’t be hard, since the TYMO Ring Plus has 10 heat settings.
Good hair = self-care
Good hair is therapeutic. I’m using my TYMO Ring Plus as a self-care tool. Rather than go through my day with messed-up or pulled-back hair because I feel too busy to do otherwise, I’m taking 5 minutes to give myself a soft, natural style.

Coffee Break: Professional Padfolio – Corporette.com

This chic little padfolio from Target looks great if your office has moved to a hot desking situation.
To be fair, I always loved this kind of padfolio when I worked at my Big Law firm — if I was working off site or in a conference room for the day this was an easy way to make sure that I had a few essentials. For me that was Post-it notes, tape flags, and lip gloss, but you do you boo! (It’s also a discreet way to carry a tampon or whatnot if you won’t have time to run to your office in between meetings.)
The pictured version is zippered, but there’s also a magnetic version. They’re $35-$39, at Target.

A Way to Play With Color Through Layering
Altuzarra Coat (sold out, similar here), Cos Sweater, Tory Burch Shirt, Donni Pants (also love these), Gucci Pumps, Chanel Brooch & Bag (similar here and here)
Layering color can be approached the same way neutrals have always been worn, built gradually, through familiar pieces, and styled into everyday outfits. Rather than centering color in one place, this way of dressing lets it appear naturally through layers, proportion, and contrast.
Start With Color Underneath
Because this layer is partially revealed at the collar, cuff, or neckline, it becomes part of the overall composition rather than a focal point.
One way to build a layered color look is to begin with color closest to the body. A green poplin shirt under a sweater, a red knit beneath a coat, or a pink top layered into the look allows color to anchor the outfit from the inside out.
Add a Second Color Through Layering
From there, color is introduced again through a mid-layer: a cardigan or sweater worn over shirting, or a knit draped over the shoulders. This is where colors begin to interact.
Layering one color over another creates dimension and movement, especially when textures and weights shift between layers.
Frame the Look With an Outer Layer
A third color often enters through outerwear. Coats and jackets in cool tones tones help define the palette, bringing together the shades worn underneath.
This final layer gives the outfit structure and helps the full color story come into view.
Let Colors Work Together
What ties layered color looks together is how the shades relate across the outfit. Warm and cool tones sit side by side, certain colors repeat from one layer to the next, and nothing feels isolated.
Accessories help reinforce the palette. Repeating a color through a bag, shoe, or piece of jewelry connects the layers — a green flat picking up a shirt collar, a red scarf tying back to red denim, or jewelry that mirrors one of the tones already in the look.
When colors are synchronized this way, the outfit feels pulled together, even with multiple shades in play.
