A major search is underway at a house and garden in Salford in connection with an ‘ongoing investigation’.
Specialist police search teams were first spotted outside the property on Crowngreen Road in the Eccles area earlier this week. Forensic and Tactical Aid Unit (TAU) vans have been spotted stationed outside the home.
Today (Sunday, July 19) forensic teams have been pictured going in and out of the property. A cordon has also been put in place around the home.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said officers are searching a property and garden ‘in relation to intelligence received regarding an ongoing investigation’. No further information on the probe has been released at this stage.
In a statement, a GMP spokesperson said: “Officers are currently searching a property and garden on Crowngreen Road, Eccles. This is in relation to intelligence received regarding an ongoing investigation.”

Anita, 64, another neighbour, said she wants to know exactly what is going amid the police presence on Crowngreen Road.
“They have been digging and have taken up the shed but we don’t know why. I just want to know what’s going on but they don’t tell us anything.
“There’s always been an officer present, one at the front and one at the back, I’ve also seen someone like an inspector.”

A number of police vehicles are stationed on Crowngreen Road today.
James, 35, who lives nearby said:
“They have been here every day, the Tactical Aid Unit has been here every day.
“There was literally 40 police near the start. They have been here a week.
“They were digging and were here last night until 10 o’clock.”

Neighbours have told our reporter that police have been on the scene for over a week.
Part of the garden appears to have been dug up.

According to neighbours, the search on Crowngreen Road in Eccles has been underway since earlier this week.
A GMP spokesperson said:
“Officers are currently searching a property and garden on Crowngreen Road, Eccles.
“This is in relation to intelligence received regarding an ongoing investigation.”
A former Royal Marine from Westhoughton is preparing to cycle the length of Route 66 in the United States as he attempts to set two world records while raising money for four charities.
Aaron Moon, 39, will fly to America on July 28 before setting off on July 30, aiming to complete the famous route in a maximum of 22 days.
It comes after a journey that has seen him lose a leg in Afghanistan and survive a blood clot on his lungs and heart last year.
Aaron said: “It’s been a roller coaster as such, because obviously I’ve gone from losing my identity as a Royal Marine Commando and pretty much everything I knew and loved.
“I ended up not really knowing what to do with myself or anything like that.
“And then the next minute, I’m a PGA professional golfer, which is crazy in itself. But then I chose to walk away from professional golf.
“That’s what led me to becoming the world’s first amputee indoor skydiving instructor.
“Every time I’ve come away from something and gone back down, I’ve just found a new purpose to lift myself back up.”
He hopes the challenge will raise money for Team Forces, Wounded Warrior Project, Blesma and Rock2Recovery.
Aaron lost his leg after being injured while serving in Afghanistan in 2009, and said the Route 66 challenge represents his own story of starting again.
Aaron said: “I think it’s mainly the challenge, because obviously with the route, it crosses eight states.
“It’s like ridiculous temperatures. My current business is I travel around talking about mindset and resilience and motivation.
“I go inside prisons, talk to convicts about changing their mindset to help reduce reoffending. I go into corporate sports teams, everything like that.
“The whole Route 66 is rebirth.
“The history of it was people upping sticks in the East to chase a new life in the West. So the route kind of personifies me as a person in a way. It kind of works.”
Although he is aiming to break two world records, Aaron said they are not his main motivation.
Aaron added: “I’m not really bothered about the world records.
“They’re just the niceties.
“It’s more about me getting the story out there and helping inspire and show people what you can achieve if you just set your mind to it and you work hard.
“Everybody’s got their Route 66 in life. You just need to get on that bike and cycle past it metaphorically.”
He’s spent the summer writing songs on the other side of the world – now Nathan Evans can’t wait to come home to sing for the King. The sea shanty star, who became a viral phenomenon after his covid era social media posts won tens of millions of views, is one of the big names preparing to bring the curtain up on the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow this week.
Nathan and his band Saint Phnx – brothers Alan and Stevie Jukes – are deep in songwriting sessions in Nashville where they have been for weeks. The trio will fly across the Atlantic for the biggest gig of their lives so far, performing to a global audience of billions in front of King Charles and Queen Camilla in front of a packed Hydro.
The boys joined travelling Scotland fans in Boston for Scotland’s opening game against Haiti in Boston at this summer’s World Cup finals, and are determined to carry the celebratory spirit of the Tartan Army back to Glasgow. Wellerman singer Nathan said: “Seeing everybody coming together especially with everything that’s going on in the world at the minute. It’s going to be absolutely fantastic.”
Bandmate Alan added: “For all the right reasons the spotlight was on Scotland and Scottish people because of the positive energy we brought to America in numbers. The focus is back in Scotland now with the Games.
“Some of the things going on in the world are a bit crazy just now, but the positivity Scottish people brought to America was amazing. That spotlight is on us at home now, and we can showcase how great the place is and how good the people are. I know Glasgow will do these Games justice and we will have an amazing experience.”
Brother Stevie joked that the band went to extreme lengths to get ready for the biggest show of their careers so far. He said: “We prepared by going to Nashville to make a new album.
“To be honest, once you start over-thinking things then you can over complicate things. We know what we can do, for us it’s a case of going out there and putting on the best show we can and doing exactly what we do best.”
The band will join KT Tunstall, Tom Walker, Callum Beattie and Skye electro-folk group Valtos at the opening ceremony, which will be shown live on TNT, 5 and, in Gaelic on BBC Alba. They’ll follow in the footsteps of Scots legends like Lulu, Dougie Maclean, Karen Matheson, Deacon Blue, Amy Macdonald, Karen Dunbar and Susan Boyle who performed at the 2014 ceremonies in Celtic Park and Hampden.
Alan said: “Our pals from Prides, who performed at the Closing Ceremony in 2014 at Hampden, told us how amazing it was to be at the centre of something so big, such a massive occasion shown all around the world. Our mum is chuffed to bits.
“We are two brothers from Wishaw and when you think about the billions of people watching us, playing in front of the King and Queen it’s amazing. What a thing to be part of.
“But we have worked so hard and we deserve to be where we are. And we can put on a good performance for Scotland, we want to do as good a job we can, as good a job as the athletes want to do too.
“We’re really looking forward to everyone coming together and mingling with everyone coming to the city.”
The Games will see 3,000 athletes from the Commonwealth’s 74 nations and territories arriving in Glasgow, performing in 10 sports. Para sport events are fully integrated in the programme of events, and the first medal ceremony will be for para powerlifting – a first in the history of the Games.
The band will jump in their tour bus immediately after the opening spectacular for dates in England, but will return to Scotland before the Games end. Frontman Nathan said: “We will be home in time for the athletic events and I’m looking forward to that.”
The Opening Ceremony gig is part of a massive summer for the band, who will headline the Heather on the Hill Festival next month. Nathan and the boys curated the lineup themselves which includes crowd pleaser Cammy Barnes, soul singer Brooke Combes and folk favourites Skerryvore. Nathan said: “We’ve sold out 30,000 tickets and it’s just another pinch me moment, after performing at the Opening Ceremony.”
The down to earth singer’s success echoes that of 2014 Games’ boxing star Charlie Flynn – both were postmen before achieving huge success. And he believes his success is in large part down to one characteristic above any others, something Team Scotland’s athletes will be drawing on from the pool to the court to the track.
He said: “I think it’s people embracing our Scottishness. A lot of people shy away from it, but we’ve embraced it.
“Some people when they travel they dilute that in themselves a little bit, but the more I have travelled, the more I meet different people from all corners of the world.
“It’s about being proud of where I am from. I love having people from all over enjoy what we sing about, enjoy our storytelling, There’s something in the Scottish nature that you won’t find anywhere else. We are built different.”

A beloved UK high street chain has confirmed its first round of store closures, with 87 branches set to permanently shut.
British Heart Foundation stores are set to close across the country in the coming months after the charity said in June that it planned to close about 150 stores over the next two years, as part of a change to its retail estate.
Over 600 British Heart Foundation shops operate across the UK, but rising operational costs and changing shopping habits have led to the closure decision.
Under the plans, 90 branches were expected to close by March 2027. The rest are set to close by March 2028.
“Our shops mean so much to our colleagues, brilliant volunteers and communities across the UK,” said British Heart Foundation chief executive Dr Charmaine Griffiths.
“Like most retailers, we are facing an exceptionally challenging trading environment.”
She added that the charity was grateful to staff and volunteers affected by the closures and said workers would be supported throughout the process.
Affected employees are expected to be offered redeployment opportunities where possible, with volunteers offered roles in nearby stores or elsewhere in the charity.

In the days after the wedding , Lively and Reynolds were seen enjoying an off-duty day in his native Canada.

Lively was not paid any money in the settlement, but Judge Lewis Liman, who presided over the case at a New York court, did allow her to seek legal fees solely related to Baldoni’s failed case against her.
Swift’s reported fallout with the actress happened after she was subpoenaed in the her lawsuit against Baldoni, before the subpoena was later withdrawn.
Swift, whose hit song My Tears Ricochet was featured on the soundtrack of Baldoni’s 2024 film It Ends With Us – where he starred alongside Lively – was pulled into the rollercoaster saga last year when Baldoni filed a $400 million countersuit accusing Lively and her husband of defamation. The suit was later thrown out.
Explosives text messages from Baldoni’s complaint revealed Lively had referred to the superstar singer and her husband as ‘my dragons’ in a bid to intimidate him over the ill-fated flick.
In January, a source told DailyMail.com: ‘Her friends also think that Blake’s “I’m Khaleesi, and like her, I happen to have dragons” text to Justin was uncool and unnecessary because she was essentially used as an intimidation tactic. She was referred to as some kind of pet or possession.’
Since then, Swift has reportedly been trying to distance herself from the scandal as well as her friendship with Lively.
Those efforts have included icing Lively out of her inner circle while Kelce unfollowed Reynolds on Instagram.

An American service member has been killed during a controlled detonation of unexploded ordnance in northern Iraq – the third US fatality in recent days.
The US Central Command (CENTCOM) said in a statement on Sunday, July 19 that the service member died on July 18 and that a second service member suffered mild injuries during the detonation. The victims were not named.
The service member’s death bring the number of US troops killed to 17 since the Iran war started on February 28, when joint US-Israeli strikes were carried out on sites across Iran.
On Friday, two other US service members were killed in Iranian strikes in Jordan, while a third went missing.
CENTCOM said on Sunday that unidentified remains have been found at the location. A process was under way to identify them.
“Yesterday, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced the passing of two U.S. service members and the missing status of one in Jordan following an Iranian attack on July 17,” the statement read.
“Separately, a U.S. service member in northern Iraq was killed in action July 18 during a controlled detonation of unexploded ordnance from a downed Iranian one-way attack drone,” it continued.
A second service member was wounded and continues to receive medical treatment for a minor injury.
Thousands of people have died in the war, mostly in Iran and Lebanon.
The announcement came as the US attacked Iran for an eighth consecutive night and Iran fired missiles and drones at US target in the Gulf.
Attacks from both nations have intensified in recent days after a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed last month collapsed.
On June 17, the US and Iran signed a MoU to bring the war to a close within 60 days.
Washington and Tehran had been working towards securing a lasting peace agreement to bring the conflict to an end, restore international shipping through the vital Strait of Hormuz and seek to settle an ongoing dispute over Tehran’s nuclear programme.
Last week, Iran announced its full withdrawal from the MoU on what it said was American violations.
US President Donald Trump said the ceasefire was “over” at a NATO summit in Türkiye one week earlier.
“I don’t want to deal with them anymore. They’re scum,” he told reporters.
“That must include tackling the soaring cost of energy bills, which are almost £600 higher than the Labour Party promised at the election, reducing the sky-high cost of fuel, and reversing the billions of pounds of damage done to Scottish jobs, businesses and the economy by the Labour Party’s National Insurance tax hike and harmful Brexit policies.
The Crown Prosecution Service has requested the extradition of Andrew and Tristan Tate to face trial in the UK, as the pair face 38 new charges relating to alleged sexual offences on four victims, in addition to 21 existing charges. The pair have previously denied any wrongdoing.

Nikita Henderson, of Venable Road, Guisborough, was found guilty under the Single Justice Procedure at Peterlee Magistrates’ Court on July 14.
The court heard Henderson deposited a cigarette on the ground at North Road, Durham bus station, on February 28.
This was in breached of the Environmental Protection Act 1990, which makes it an offence to throw down, drop, or leave litter in public spaces.
Henderson, who did not attend court, was ordered to pay a £220 fine.
The court also imposed an £88 surcharge to fund victim services and £204 in costs.
A collection order was made for the total amount of £512, with payment due by August 11.
Court documents confirmed the case was proved in Henderson’s absence.
