The relocation will see the brand nearly double its presence at Scotland’s largest designer outlet.
Nike is set to expand its presence in Livingston’s Designer Outlet. As part of a major expansion, the shopping centre has secured a much larger space for the brand.
Set to measure 11,409 sq. ft, it will be nearly double the size as the current store. While no official opening date has been revealed, it has been confirmed that doors will open sometime in late September.
Signs teasing the upgraded unit have already been spotted at the new location. This looks to be the former Next outlet that has also recently moved to a new space within the busy shopping centre.
Offering an “elevated in-store shopping experience”, it will increase Nike’s footprint in the designer outlet. Designed to offer greater choice, shoppers will find an extended range of Nike apparel, footwear and accessories across lifestyle and performance categories.
Sportswear is said to be a key driver for the Livingston Designer Outlet. The category recently recorded an eight percent year-on-year sales growth, “reinforcing demand for premium and performance lifestyle brands.”
The relocation of Nike is set to reposition it alongside fellow internationally recognised brands Adidas, Puma and Under Armour. The West Lothian centre has said that this will create “a stronger destination for sports and performance offer, while enhancing the overall customer experience.”
It also forms part of a wider programme of enhancements taking place across the Designer Outlet that has recorded strong sales growth and footfall recently. Co-owner Global Mutual has been working to optimise the retail offering, creating opportunities for brands to grow their presence.
Nicky Lovell, Head of Outlets and Retail Business and Development at Global Mutual said: “The upsizing and relocation of Nike is a clear example of our proactive asset management at Livingston Designer Outlet.
“Over the past 12 months, we have been investing in the scheme to optimise the retail offer and strengthen our brand mix through unit reconfiguration.
“This latest commitment from Nike reflects both the strength of the destination and the confidence in our long-term strategy. By continuing to invest in the asset and work closely with our brand partners, we are creating a more compelling, high-performing environment for both retailers and customers.”
Livingston’s Designer Outlet is currently ranked as the largest outlet mall in Scotland. Opened in 2000, when it was originally known as McArthur Glen, it is now home to more than 80 restaurants, brands and cafes.
The shopping destination also recently welcomed luxury jeweller Chappelle’s, marking the brand’s first outlet in Scotland. Located on the lower ground level, it officially opened its doors on June 12.
Meanwhile, the UK’s biggest indoor adventure park Flip-out is also set to be opening in the outlet sometime this summer. It will measure 20,000 sq.ft, offering fun-filled activities that the whole family can enjoy together.
The West Lothian Mall also has a sister site directly across the road known as The Centre, where a host of new additions have also been welcomed – such as the largest JD Sports in Scotland.
Following “increasing consumer demand”, the sportswear brand moved to a larger 15,500 sq. ft unit near the mall’s entrance, just across from neighbouring brands New Look and River Island.
Similar to the upcoming Next store, it offers shoppers a lot more choice, with products spanning various big name brands, such as didas, ASICS, New Balance and Montirex.
