4 Vikings Predictions for the Opener vs Green Bay

After an eight-month wait, meaningful Vikings football returns as the Minnesota Vikings take on the Green Bay Packers at U.S. Bank Stadium.

4 Vikings Predictions for the Opener vs Green Bay

It is a quirk of the schedule that the Vikings finished last season at home against the Packers, and begin this one with the same fixture. Minnesota was victorious back in January and will be looking for the same outcome again. Here are my Vikings predictions for the season opener.

Justin Jefferson Goes Huge

Justin Jefferson is a man with something to prove.

Through no fault of his own, he has slipped down many people’s WR rankings after a 1,048 receiving yards and two-touchdown season where he was handicapped by the Vikings’ quarterback play. I predict that Jefferson and Kyler Murray’s connection is going to sparkle on debut.

The Packers will be missing Micah Parsons, and with the Vikings playing inside in a home game the ingredients are perfect for Jefferson to go huge. The first of my Vikings predictions is Jefferson goes well past 100 receiving yards and snags himself a couple of touchdowns to round off a spectacular return to form.

Kyler Murray Throws For 350+ yards and Three Touchdowns

Murray’s good day will go further than his connection with Jefferson and he will make the most of all of the Vikings’ offensive weapons.

With Jordan Addison, Jauan Jennings, T.J. Hockenson, and more also out there, Murray should be able to spread the ball out. I’m predicting a big day out for the new Vikings QB who throws for over 350 yards and three touchdowns. It’s the stuff that dreams are made of but I’m confident that if Kevin O’Connell, Murray, and the Vikings receivers get things right this week, then they can have a big day.

Caleb Banks Gets His First Sack

A team first-round draft pick will always come under focus when a new season starts. It was always unlikely that Caleb Banks was going to be ready to take on a major role straight away this season. After most of his final season was lost to injury he was injured again following a breakout performance at the NFL Combine. The Vikings gambled on the physical traits and potential of Banks which means patience is needed, although that hasn’t stopped some from jumping to early concerns.

Minnesota’s defensive coordinator Brian Flores praised Banks’ growth over the course of the preseason and said he will have “a role in some capacity” against Green Bay in the season opener. Using Banks in the rotation when looking to blitz Jordan Love would be the most likely way to use him this week, which will give him a chance to get on the stat sheet early. I predict he gets to Love and brings him down.

James Pierre Snags Vikings’ First Interception

The last of my Vikings predictions concerns who will snag the team’s first interception of the season. If Minnesota’s defense can get consistent pressure on Love, which I believe they will, chances for an interception will come the Vikings’ way.

I predict James Pierre snags the team’s first interception of the season and his first for the team – rounding out a great day for Vikings debut players. Pierre arrives in Minnesota after an impressive year in Pittsburgh and will be looking to prove he can handle an extended role, this would be the perfect start.

Inter Milan vs Udinese Prediction and Betting Tips

Published

on

Inter Milan‘s defense of the Italian Serie A title continues on Monday as Udinese visit the San Siro for a matchday four fixture. The Nerazzurri have a dominant record against Udinese.

Inter Milan were second in the Serie A table before the fourth round of matches, with the maximum nine points from three matches.

The Italian champions have not put a foot wrong in the top flight, beating Monza 4-1 at home in a statement victory on the opening weekend before a 1-0 away win over Cagliari.

The Nerazzurri beat Napoli in their most recent Serie A encounter last Saturday, making a stunning late comeback to overturn a 2-1 lead for the Neapolitan side with late goals from Marcus Thuram and captain Lautaro Martinez (his second of the match) at the San Siro.

Cristian Chivu’s side even pushed Real Madrid in UEFA Champions League action during the week, eventually losing 2-1 to Los Blancos at the Santiago Bernabéu thanks to goals from Kylian Mbappe and Federico Valverde, with Carlos Augusto’s strike for the Milan giants putting pressure on the home side that almost led to an equalizer late in the game.

Meanwhile, Udinese are 10th in the table with four points after three games, with a mixed bag of results at this early stage of the season.

Le Zebrette opened the league campaign with a 1-1 home draw against Como before travelling to face Monza and returning to Udine with all three points thanks to a 3-2 victory.

Kosta Runjaic’s side beat Venezia 2-1 in Coppa Italia action to build some winning momentum ahead of the third round of Serie A matches, but that run was broken when Udinese clashed with a tough Lazio side that beat them 2-1 at home on Monday.

Things were looking good for the home side when Jesper Karlstrom gave them the lead just after halftime, but the capital club turned the clash around late on with goals from Davide Frattesi and Albert Gudmundsson.

Inter Milan vs Udinese head-to-head stats and key numbers

  • Inter Milan have had the upper hand in the head-to-head record with Udinese, winning 64 of their 121 matches.
  • Udinese have beaten Inter on 25 occasions, while they have shared the spoils 32 times.
  • Last season in Serie A, the teams won their respective away games, with Udinese winning 2-1 at the San Siro before Inter secured a 1-0 victory in Udine.
  • Inter have definitely enjoyed the better of recent exchanges between the two clubs, with Udinese only winning once in their last eight matches, while Inter won the other seven.

Inter Milan vs Udinese prediction

Inter Milan’s attacking fluidity and clinical finishing from the likes of Thuram and Martinez have been on show in this new season, and they will continue to rely on their ability to dictate the play and use dominant passages of play to keep opponents under pressure.

Udinese are expected to maintain a low-block defensive structure as they aim to frustrate the home side and patiently wait for their own counterattacking opportunities. The visitors have been defensively resilient at times, but lapses in concentration have been damaging, and they cannot afford to be guilty of that against one of the best attacks in the league.

We expect the reigning Serie A champions to keep their momentum going with another victory on Monday.
